Manchin-Toomey gun deal probably best Obama can get How sad... Although, a half of loaf of bread is better then none! Good to see some action across party lines for a refreshing change of pace. Complacency is NOT an option!

Googling information on campaign spending this morning, I learned that, while both parties spent about the same on the presidential election in 2012, outside groups working for the right-wing, spent considerably more: Restore Our Future, a Republican group, spent $142,655,346, or 33% of all Republi …

NBC's Mark Murray and Domenico Montanaro report the majority of Americans support stricter gun laws according to the new Morning Joe/Marist poll. The poll also shows Americans want President Obama and Congress to make job creation their top priority by a 2-to-1 margin.

Mr. Weeper - Where are those J-O-B-S you promised us back in 2010? Quit trying to repeal ObamaCare for the 36th time and do your damn JOB! Just think, with a current approval rating in single digits, there is no place for you and your obstructionist cronies to go, but UP!

VIDEO: First Read Minute: Background checks are the ballgame on guns

With guns back in the conversation as President Obama holds an event to talk about sensible gun control measures, NBC's Mark Murray and Domenico Montanaro discuss whether or not Congress will be able to compromise on any gun control measures and immigration reform.

Why is it the background checks and simple common sense gun legislation so hard to pass? Is the Congress Deaf, Dumb and Blind? How many innocent people need to die before they final pull their heads out?

VIDEO: First Read Minute: Same-sex marriage, wedge issue no longer

As the Supreme Court begins two days of oral arguments on the topic of gay marriage, NBC's Mark Murray and Domenico Montanaro discuss how it has disappeared as a true political issue between the parties, and the notable change in public opinion on the topic over the past several years.

I think same sex marriage will happen sooner or later as it is a civil rights issue. Gay people just want the same acceptance and family stability that straight people want and are entitled to by law.

The strained relations between President Obama and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu seem to be a thing of the past. VIDEO: First Read Minute: It's the policies, stupid

The 10-year anniversary of the Iraq war highlights how pivotal that war has been in American politics over the past decade. And Republicans are doing some introspection, releasing a report of what went wrong in 2012. But the report is mostly about packaging and not policies, NBC's Mark Murray and Domenico Montanaro point out.

Personally, I have no problem with the delusional drones on the right wandering around in the political wilderness for the next 50 or so years! No amount of "packaging" in the world could of made "wooden" Willard more palatable to ordinary Americans... You can put all the mustard you want on a crap  …

VIDEO: First Read Minute: Reality check: 'Charm offensives' are overrated

President Obama heads to Capitol Hill to meet with House Republicans, but perhaps too much is made of so-called "charm offensives." The structure and numbers of divided government are far more important. NBC's Mark Murray and Domenico Montanaro discuss.

Anyone else as tired as I am on the derogatory "charm offensive" meme? First the MSM falsely whined for years about the President not being all warm & fuzzy enough with the opposition.
