The Hill reports that White House officials, including “chief of staff Denis McDonough met Tuesday afternoon with several Republicans who dined privately with President Obama in March and April. Much of the meeting was spent sparring over the severity of the federal deficit and the need to cut spending.”
Politico: “President Barack Obama on Tuesday delivered his most pointed remarks on immigration reform in months, urging opponents of a bipartisan Senate bill to get on board with the overhaul effort — or get out of the way.”
The Des Moines Register poll finds Iowans have soured on Obama with 54% disapproving of the job he’s doing and give him low marks on a host of issues.
Gallup has Bush with a 49%/46% fav/unfav. That’s the first time it has been in positive territory since 2005. Still, Bush is the most UNPOPULAR recent ex-president. Even Jimmy Carter, who Republicans love to lampoon, is 20 points more favorable.
