Conservatives meet to hammer opponents and chart "new" course, the RNC autopsies their 2012 race, President Obama travels to the Middle East including Israel, and more fiscal fighting on Capitol Hill?
The Dew Drop Inn is brave in green and gold, ready to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. We say Cead Mile Failte Romhat to friends who join us for the biggest bash of the year at the dear old Dew Drop.
IR, I'm bringing the boys in the Irish band with me, and they have promised to tune up and play Teir Abhaile Riu,my favorite Irish song ever. If it doesn't get your feet to stomping and wishing to dance with the ladies, there is nothing that will. First dance with you, my friend, I know how you can dance with the best of them.
The Clydesdales are decked out in green and gold ribbon, braided through their manes and tails. We have some good eats this weekend, a good corned beef brisket and cabbage, and I hear that Gingerbread has made some soda bread! Can't wait.
What oh what have we learned this week? I don't know. Don't much care. Too ready for this meeting of friends and family.
I'll be staying at the Comeback Inn tonight and bedding the horses down in the barn.
But doesn't the music sound so pretty as you come around the corner to the Dew Drop Inn?
Happy St. Patrick's Day one and all. Thanks to First Read staff for allowing us this soapbox. I do believe there is an Irish Coffee with your names on it at the Inn!
Happy St. Patrick's Day!! Time to call this wild week a wrap. CPAC gave us a reminder of why the GOP is in disarray, no doubt tomorrow they will add more proof what with Sarah Palin and Ted Cruz speaking. It's been quite a week. Thanks to our First Read hosts to once again proved why this remains "the place for politics."
For GBM and all other Irish folks even if for only a day: Irish grasshopper: 1 oz Bailey's Irish Cream liqueur, 1 oz green creme de menthe liqueur, 1 oz clear creme de cacoa, 1/2 cup whole milk. Finely chopped Andes chocolate mint candies to garnish. Add all ingredients (except garnish) in a cocktail shaker filled with ice, and shake. Moisten rim of a double old fashion glass with cocktail mixture and dip into garnish. Pour in the cocktail. Enjoy.
A toast to our most excellent, and "charm"ing Irish President, Barack O'Bama. Have a great weekend everyone!
My body has been painted lobster red for an operation ... maybe just a chilled glass of white wine? Screw that ... barmistress, my bucket of Absolut with a dash of Jamies.
Amy, ha, I think that's why you're only supposed to have one...after dinner! I can see where too many would leave a bad impression. I have a similar reaction at the thought of bourban/whiskey.
New day Dawning, I am south of the border but i will join you. Could we have a special toast on St Patrick's as it's my daughter's first Wedding Anniversary. BCWC I wish you a speedy recovery my friends from Calgary just introduced me to a new drink called a Caesar. I will have one in your honor.
Layton and friends ... I was booted until Tuesday. If they mess up one more time, I will download a do-it-yourself video. I have a saw, plumbing tools and a Pigotry heart in the freezer in case I @!$%# it up.
I think tonight might be a good night to expand the Native American education fund. I am sure the green beer will be flowing at the casino, and I have a bad case of cabin fever having been shut in all winter. Another two weeks and it will be time to start the garden. Peas and Cabbage and maybe some brussel sprouts. Maybe some poison ivy for the right wings.
New Day Dawning, Thank you. I hope all here at FR have a wonderful St Patrick's Day. I wonder if they will be serving green margarita's in Mexico on Sunday.
I seem SO late to the party anymore. so sorry. BUT- there is some reference to tunes on this board a LOT.
I always go for the oldies that make people smile and say "hey, yeah, I rember that one".
To rain on our parade: Go to Itunes and down load "Foster The People's" 'Torches' then, listen to it. ...."run baby, run- faster than my gun?? (but if you like it, tell Mr La Pirere- good gosh, what a great propoent of life you are!
Just checking in before I hit the slopes tomorrow and probably my tushie as well!
bcwc - don't know what they told you but don't let them do the neutering trick! Plus, you'd just look silly with that lampshade around your neck! Best of luck that you come out with everything working just fine!
Miss you guys but I can see - looking back through FR - that you've been busy keeping the righties in line! Nothing new there! Be back with you Monday - though it will be brief since I've been away from the office.
Everyone - have a wonderful weekend and a Happy St. Paddy's to all!
Who is ready to toss back a couple of Leprechaun Farts?
Malibu rum, pineapple juice, vodka, midori melon liqueur, and half and half cream. You will need one part of each ingredient. Now place them all together with ice, shake vigorously a few good times. Pour into a shot glasses...
Enjoy the day, celebrate with good friends and family as I will. Celebrate the coming of Spring and all its joys and as I raise a glass or two I toast all of you.
May you always have walls for the winds, a roof for the rain, tea beside the fire, laughter to cheer you, those you love near you, and all your heart might desire.
Enjoy life's little pleasures, not the least of which is coming here to share a part of ourselves with friends who really care. To Mark and Dominico thank you for all your hard work and for the opportunity to exchange opinions and a few laughs along the way each week.
Everybody is Irish on St. Patrick's Day. It even brought together the Democrats, Republicans and our crazy Tea Party governor in Maine, to pass emergency legislation allowing bars to open early this Sunday. Nothing brings people together like a terrorist attack, or the opportunity to start drinking early ! First thing they've agreed on in four years!
Amy, that put a big smile on my face. So funny, and so true!
magyar27, usually I just ignore you but find myself wondering why, even in the spirit of St Patrick's Day, you can't be remotely nice and are even less funny. I think that old song applies--may the bluebird of happiness fly up your nose!
Thanks for Stopping By and reminding us all that there's still Brainless Twits in the World as if we hadn't already figured that out this week. Oh and you knew as much as you say you do @!$%# you'd know that Newday wasn't even In the vicinity the weekend in question.
magyar27 ... whats up guy? Nice suit and cap. Fits your KaraKKter to a T! Shopping at Thor Steiner's takes ya back home right. Magyars were extra good at quelling dissonance in the Koncentration Kamps
Hey GBM - Cheers back at ya!! In honour of Prouty and his bold and daring efforts, and in honour of St. Patricks day, this drink is on the house. Be sure to send Domenico three of these, he is out their covering the CPAC Conference and probably needs immediate relief.
Dew Drop Inn ... the finest emporium of love and wit ... and very cheap drinks on the planet. And you are always welcome to drop by and drop your dewy pant(ie)s
Dang is it Friday already? Don’t time fly when you’re having fun?
Looks like we’ve got the politics pretty well covered this week and I see that nobodies come to any permanent harm. Hope everybody takes the week end and rubs the bruises and scrapes a little and shows up bright and early Monday morning for another go round. Looks like it’s going to be an interesting week.
Now as far as my weekend goes since I shipped the John Deere out to Wisconsin so a friend of mine can drive it in the Big Farmer Tractor Parade down in Madison on Saturday I’m going to kick back some and enjoy the amenities of the Dew Drop Inn and the Comeback Inn and the company of my friends and Partners. My thanks to some of my Partners and the local Firefighters for putting out and cleaning up the small Grease fire that somebody tried to start out back this week.
Down at the Dew Drop Inn we’ve cleaned up all the Mardi gras paraphernalia and this is going to be St. Patrick’s Weekend. The ex Schoolteacher has got my special Green overalls all laid out and all the partners have been busy all week lining up Irish Bands to augment the House Band and special Irish Dishes and getting up all the Green bunting and such. Me personally I’m interested in seeing how the Green Beer is going to go with all those big Hoops of Cheddar.
Saturday morning we’re going to have a Irish Continental Breakfast down in the big room with some more of my Partners treats and some more band music. Plenty of Bailey’s to go with your Columbian Supreme.
As always my thanks and appreciation to our hosts for their time, giving me a little place to stand, a subject to comment on, a forum to put it in, and their indulgence when I don’t quite get it right or get a little off subject. I purely do appreciate it. Hope you’ll have a fine weekend and good fun among folks that you know and love. To my fellow participants keep well, keep safe, and keep the faith. We’ll make it. See you’ll next week
Drive-by a little “Danny Boy” to kick us off please. The Tom Jones version is my favorite but Old John C. did right well with it as did Sam Cooke, Elvis, Jim Reeve and even Harry Connick Jr. and a bunch of other folks
Solving the problem of Floyd and Breakfast is one of the Great Mystery's still left in Life Betty. Think of how disappointed you'd be if there were no more mystery's to solve.
Always a fine finish, IR, aka Han Redneck. Nothing like fine food, a beverage or two and the most excellent conversations. Have a great weekend my friends!
To all me friends here and abouts, a Happy St Patties Day to ya!!!
I'll be dreamin of the dear ol Dew Drop Inn tonight, and tomorrow, come sundy, i'll be there with you all in spirit, if not in body!!!

@new,
You serving 'em up tonight?
Make mine a Guinness, and keep 'em coming!
Musical request: "There's No One as Irish as Barack Obama"!
Absolutely, Bob, and on the house!
@new,
You are too kind! May every clover you pick have at least four leaves!
Why thank you, Bob, right back at you!
Happy St. Patrick's Day!! Time to call this wild week a wrap. You too, Jody.

oooh, I have vibrant memories of the result of drinking too many grasshoppers one night in my twenties - I'll pass!
Wasn't CPAC hilarious? I swear they make this stuff up just to entertain us "Godless" Democrats! Ha!
BCWC, best wishes to you, and a speedy recovery!
Amy, ha, I think that's why you're only supposed to have one...after dinner! I can see where too many would leave a bad impression. I have a similar reaction at the thought of bourban/whiskey.
bcwc: Is THAT why I didn't hear from you! All best wishes my friend. We will look for you here, and will be thinking of you!
BCWC,
May your recovery be swift and total.
And I pray for your surgeon to have the best hand/ eye coordination!
We will save you a spot at the DDI.
Wishing you a full & speedy recovery - My Kitty Kat!
BCWC - hoping all goes well for you and that your recovery is swift. You know you're definitely in our thoughts!
BCWC make sure you count all your parts going in so's you can at least make 'em account for anything that is missing coming out. Good Luck

Best of luck BCWC
No I haven't Zappas, but I do love Irish music. Will check it out.
Huh?
I don't see your request...
Applied yesterday. Had me pending. Then went away today. oh, well
BCWC, a progressive meow to you.

Is it the Dew Drop Inn II? It now says pending. lol
Absolutely, lisa! And all best wishes to the young couple!

New Day Dawning, Thank you. I hope all here at FR have a wonderful St Patrick's Day. I wonder if they will be serving green margarita's in Mexico on Sunday.
Zappa, thanks, I will regale you with my first meeting with the Mothers of Invention at the next happy hour. Socialism willing!
Thanks, Zappas. I enjoyed reading about it.

Happy St. Patrick's Day to all our Irish Americans
Who is ready to toss back a couple of Leprechaun Farts?
They're magically delicious! ;o)
They fart?
Are they farting gold?
Then we have to rear-end them... the closer the better...don't miss our once-in-a-life-time GOLDEN opportunity.
I am old .., I have dust farts.
Bad bad Leprechaun ...
That one took me a minute Miss Feisty! Good ol' Lucky Charms! It was such a treat to have those when I was little. We were poor and they were pricey!
Andy reminds me of a young Tom Brokaw! or, Ted Baxter, one or the other.
Nice to see they let Dom out of the Boiler Room. Hope we don't lose him to the network news.
Ted Baxter for sure!
To all my friends: Happy St Patrick's Day!
Enjoy the day, celebrate with good friends and family as I will. Celebrate the coming of Spring and all its joys and as I raise a glass or two I toast all of you.

Magyar go hump somebody else's leg today. I ain't in the mood
magyar27 - looks like you're all ready for St. Pat's day every day .... constantly green with envy.

magyar27, sorry, but you aren't welcome at the DDI; and we know who you are so, enjoy the bluebird up your nose.
Forget Guinness. Go out and have a couple of pints of Smithwick's ale. Your taste buds will thank you.
My goodness, always someone that has to spoil the party. Magyar, why don't you get over the idea that people have friends and try to join the fun?
Damn this automatic editor Let's try this again "ass hat"
magyar27 ... whats up guy? Nice suit and cap. Fits your KaraKKter to a T! Shopping at Thor Steiner's takes ya back home right. Magyars were extra good at quelling dissonance in the Koncentration Kamps
We shan't let him spoil the party, IR. We do have some troll spray left, don't we?
Hey GBM - Cheers back at ya!! In honour of Prouty and his bold and daring efforts, and in honour of St. Patricks day, this drink is on the house. Be sure to send Domenico three of these, he is out their covering the CPAC Conference and probably needs immediate relief.

The best part - the hangovers are painless!! And it's always fun to play Darts with the heads of re-reg trolls.
Hey, Ricardo98

Yikes, do I have to repost the video of Bumdarts?
@ newday ... with you the best is always dawning!
RedDev . . .
And that is the reason this is my fav place to down a few on Friday afternoons! Besides the wonderful company. NDD - the place looks devine!
Oh, bcwc, you have made my day. Thank you. And please check in with us so we know how you are.
Thanks, Layton! IR and Feisty and I and the rest of the gang worked at it this week.
newday ... as a gift, the best part of me is the wrapping. The cross all artists bear, our Muse is a jealous creature.
BCWC - DO NOT repost the Bumdarts! ;-) Even the thought . . . . cring worthy!
Anyone like an Arrogant Bastard Ale? Great stuff
I thin we have enough folks on this thread to do our own flashmob dance at the DDI.
here is one from down under on St. Patrick's day 2011... it puts a smile on your face.:)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7auErQnU6fU
Don't drink and blog, it's against the law. Pigotry will arrest you.

But you are a gift to us all bcwc.

To our detractors this week here’s a thought:
“If you can dream it, you can do it. Always remember that this whole thing was started with a dream and a mouse.”
Walt Disney
Drive-by a little “Danny Boy” to kick us off please. The Tom Jones version is my favorite but Old John C. did right well with it as did Sam Cooke, Elvis, Jim Reeve and even Harry Connick Jr. and a bunch of other folks
It's going to be a grand party IR.
You just hang on Newday. Betty will be along directly. Floyd Don't do to well without Betty and Co. to keep him straight.
Where the heck is she! Feisty! We are waiting for YOU!
I hope everyone saves room for the Bailey's Cheesecake that I'm bringing for dessert!
Can't wait to see IR lead the Irish clog dancing.
Thanks to Mark, Domenico and crew for all your hard work and for putting up with us politics junkies!
My first toast today is to honorary Irishwoman Dianne Feinstein---to thank her for years of service and for her graceful put-down of Senator Cruz.
It was classic, Steeler. Good for Dianne!
Hi Gang!
Sorry I'm late - was finishing up my Bailey's Irish Cream Puffs for our feast here tonight!
Bartender - make mine a double Jamesons "neat"!
If only Floyd would stick around for breakfast for once... ;op!
Feisty,
i will have what you are having.
Let get this party going in honor of St. Patrick and the Irish love of good music, wit, and storytelling.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vtp4adNTP0Y
Cheers to all my friends and poster here on FR.
Lets dance!!!!
Solving the problem of Floyd and Breakfast is one of the Great Mystery's still left in Life Betty. Think of how disappointed you'd be if there were no more mystery's to solve.
I'll join you in that toast, Steeler Fan! Lived in the Bay Area when she was Mayor of SF and had a LOT of respect for her then.
Thanks FR team for being such gracious hosts.
I'll take whatever is being poured that isn't sweet. ;-)
Always a fine finish, IR, aka Han Redneck. Nothing like fine food, a beverage or two and the most excellent conversations. Have a great weekend my friends!
What the fiick is wrong with you people? Get a life...
Get some humour, without it you don't have one ... ask your wife, but then she probably has a whole list
One could say the same about you JFK and it would actually be true.
To all me friends here and abouts, a Happy St Patties Day to ya!!!
I'll be dreamin of the dear ol Dew Drop Inn tonight, and tomorrow, come sundy, i'll be there with you all in spirit, if not in body!!!
I'll be dropping a few drams of me favorite Irish Wiskey, Jameson, special blend, 12 year old, not the hard bitin young stuff! Ah, tis goin to be a foine, foine day me Lads, and Lasses!!!
Here's to ye, Paddie, wherever ye may be!!!
Thanks to Mark and Dom, F.R. is the best!!!
Right back atcha, my friend!
And a Guiness on the house for you as well, DfromSpencer. Happy St. Patrick's Day, and welcome to the Dew Drop Inn.
A fine Irish toast to you, too, D!
Dfrom Spencer,

Cheers!
