NATIONAL HARBOR, Md. -- Rick Santorum, the former Pennsylvania senator who very well may have been a Michigan primary win away from being the Republican nominee, gave a rousing defense of social values here at the Conservative Political Action Conference.
“For those in our movement who want to abandon our moral underpinnings to win, what does it profit a movement to gain the country and lose its own soul?" Santorum told this room of thousands of conservative activists at CPAC to raucous applause. "The left in America has made that Faustian bargain… We must not.”
Santorum’s speech, which led off with an emotional recounting of the untimely death of his nephew, will only likely stoke speculation that he is thinking about another run in 2016. He set out what conservatives should fight for, had plenty of attacks on President Barack Obama, distanced himself from Congress -- despite having served there for 16 years, and even noted that he had created a conservative advocacy group, something that will help keep him in the conversation on the right.
Santorum accused the president of wanting to “close the deal” on a transformation of America 100 years in the making. He said Obama “wants to replace the ‘why’ of American Revolution for ‘why’ of French revolution –- a society that is Godless without faith,” that is “anti clerical, anti-God, where the government is the center, and they are the ones who care for us. This is President Obama’s New Deal.”
He added, “How do we turn this around? How do we make a difference in America today? I’ve tried to do my part.”
He contended that the problem on the right is not that there are not enough conservatives, it is that that conservatives -- and churchgoing social conservatives, in particular -- are not fired up enough.
“The passion in America has been on the other side,” Santorum said before warning, “They live their lives every day to transform us. Those who think America will be just fine … we just go about our lives. But we don’t have the passion that they do. To rise up and fight against what our founders said was the greatest threat to freedom -- time. Time. The erosion of our values over time, that we will lose that revolutionary fervor… Karen and I are committed that we are not going to let that happen on our watch.”
Of course, after the 2004 election, there were books written about the influence of social conservatives. They had helped re-elect President George W. Bush and were being touted as potentially spurring a permanent “Red America.” But white born-again Christians actually made up a higher share of the electorate in 2012 than 2004. In 2004, they made up 23 percent of the electorate; in 2012, they were 26 percent.
Santorum continued, “Don’t look to Washington, D.C. to solve this problem. There are very few leaders in Congress. There are a lot of followers. If you look to them to solve their problems, you will be disappointed. … The answer is here.”

As I gaze into my crystal ball...I see a third party uprising for 2016 - led by that zealot, Rick Santorum!
The GOP will nominate their candidate, but 26% of the party will be lured away by the rants of the fringe right and Democrats will win in a landslide...again.
Mr. Santorum:
If you lived up to your Christian ideals, like treating people the way you wish to be treated, or stopped lying (false witness) once in a while, sane people might listen to you.
Rick Santorum = scary
Just wondering about something.....
How long would anybody be employed by any company if all they did was complain, out loud, without stop, about that company.
You would be fired, unceremoniously fired.....TeaPeople complain about their employer (Government), but fight with all they have to get the job, and keep it..........then proceed to assail about the evils of the Government that writes their checks!
Just askin'?
Why does Rick Santorum think he gets to decide what God wants, and even which 'God' we should all worship?
The Government should not be anti-God, but neither should it be pro-God. All should be free to either worship or not worship as they choose. Does he even understand the Constitution?
Seriously, what is the difference between Rick Santorum's vision of America and the Ayatollah's view of Iran?
God doesn't have anything to do with American government. This isn't a theocracy. It's always bothered me that politicians--on both sides--feel a need to prove their Christianity. Didn't anyone attend the lecture about a separation of church and state?
If Santorum were a Christian, he wouldn't be so hateful. It's been my unfortunate circumstance that many who want to convince me that they are a Christian usually want to pick my pocket.
Ah yes. The False Christian Santorum forgetting separation of church and state.
You know, constitutionality - a RWer ideology.
"When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross." --- Sinclair Lewis
Here comes Rick Santorum...again.
If Rick Santorum and his ilk are the answer, then it must have been a damn peculiar question.
What is that about Jesus chasing the money changers out of the temple?? What is that about it being easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God?? These politicians better wise up.
So, a 3% increase in just 8 years - at that rate, white born-again Christians will achieve a majority in just 67 years! No wonder they're so hell-bent on keeping the 11 million illegals - illegal. That many Democratic voters would totally skew their master plan for theology in the US!
Sick Rantorum - good to know that Michele Bachmann has competition for the most batcheet crazy right wing nutjob in the Union.
No, Kook. We want you to keep your "god" out of our lives.
Ursala, you underestimate the sheer evilness of the GOP and the Conservative movement, they will not allow a liberal, or even another right leaning Democrat like President Obama, to win. In their small, warped little minds they truly believe that their fictional father figure is coming back soon and their evangelical mouthpieces have them convinced that "he" wont do so unless they control the country. They will do what ever it takes to take this nation back from what they have been brainwashed to believe is their true enemy, liberalism. Go to a site called "rightwingwatch" and watch the videos of "men" like Bryan Fischer, David Barton, Rush Limbaugh and others continually drill it into the "faithfuls" pea brains that they must eradicate liberalism and exterminate liberals WITHIN THIS DECADE or Jesus will not come back for them (conservatives). I work with some born again fanatics and they are some truly scary people, they all own a house full of guns, think every liberal is in league with Satan and out to get them and don't mind lying, cheating, even killing to get what they want because they believe that their version of Jesus wants this country to be under their control and they believe he doesn't care how they go about making that happen.
Heresy
From the article above:
Courtesy of Wikipedia
Galileo later defended his views in Dialogue Concerning the Two Chief World Systems, which appeared to attack Pope Urban VIII and thus alienated him and the Jesuits, who had both supported Galileo up until this point. He was tried by the Inquisition, found "vehemently suspect of heresy", forced to recant, and spent the rest of his life under house arrest.
This is Rick Santorum’s world.
Anybody who holds these beliefs in the 21 Century is a bona-fide lunatic and extremely dangerous.

@ Chilled #1.3
I believe their employer is the people of the United States.
>>>>>"They live their lives every day to transform us. "
NO. NO. NO. Mr. Santorum . . . You have that exactly backwards . . . .
We are fine with you believing what you want - we just want you to let us live our lives, too!
We don't want your vaginal probes; we want the option to use contraceptives; we want to control our own bodies. We want you to stay out of our bedrooms, whether we are straight or gay . . . and we are happy to stay out of yours!
We want equal pay for equal work . . . and WE WANT TO WORK! WE WANT JOBS JOBS JOBS!
We want our kids to go to good schools, and have opportunities . . . we don't want them slaughtered with assault weapons.
We have friends who are shades of black & brown . . . we want them to have the same opportunities we have.
We don't want to change YOU we just want to be US.
We don't want to live in the 1950's . . . we want to move . .
FORWARD!
This is exactly the type of senseless rhetoric that is intended to frighten people and divide the country as deeply as possible. To assert that President Obama wants a "Godless country" is patently absurd to anyone except those who are completely blinded by partisan rhetoric. Bobby Jindal did the exact same thing in a speech about a month ago, started out talking about how the Republican party wants to unite people, and then proceeded to slam the half of the country who happen to be Democrats, saying we want to "destroy" America. Also patently absurd.
These are the perfect examples of the type of senseless, divisive, fear-mongering rhetoric that is actually borderline insane if you ask me, because it is so far removed from reality, from what is factually true, and plays instead to innuendo, half-truths and mostly outright lies. They are internally inconsistent - how can anyone consider themselves a person of faith, and then look at someone who is obviously a decent human being and demonize them in this way?
We do not have a snowball's chance in h*ll of moving forward as a nation until these extremists are out of the picture. We need reasonable men and women, who are willing to find compromises, not lunatics who want to deepen and further entrench the divided, who do not hesitiate to use lies to frighten people just so they can get their ideological way.
Why would anyone want to be "born again" if this is the result?
Santorum - king of Republican peckers.
And how can anyone even listen to these people who don't even believe in science? They will not believe in climate change until it hits them in the face and they see their children facing an apocalypse. Even then, they will say it's God's will...Good grief.
I'm sorry to say this but Rick Santorum is one sick dude, Remember what he did with his baby ???
How is it that this treasonous POS is able to openly spread lies against this country, its people, and its president? There's a word for that and its called "SEDITION", and he should be hung for it!
Lil michelle,
I don't get checks from the Feds.
Tell me, does it say U.S. Federal Government on the checks you get, or does it say " the people of the United States?"

Words of Rick Santorum, Rape victims should think of their babies conceived during their assault as gifts from God, this sick a$$ is one of the Tea party rising star !!!
to keeninsight. I attended that lecture. Nowhere in our constitution do the words "separation of Church and State" exist. The saying came from a letter Jefferson wrote to the Baptists that helped get him elected... You see, back then the states had a bunch of little towns. Each town was built around the central Church - that's why people came here (freedom of worship) - each little town (Church) wanted to govern themselves and didn't want the federal gov't (State) telling them what to do - Separation of small town (Church or Parish) and fed gov't (State).
The saying was not about religion - it was about big government... and the saying still does not exist in our constitution.
Any questions??
Why do people who don't want God keep trying to tell others that there is no God. Who are you trying convince .... yourself ?
Deprogrammer called President Obama "a right leaning Democrat" - best joke all day!! Thansk for the laugh.

Funny you say that. Your choice of adminstations is busy eroding your Constitutional rights while preparing for civil unrest with the addition of 2700 DHS Armored Vehicles, 7000 M4 Assault rifles and 1.6 billion rounds of hollow point ammunition for use within the United States.
Be careful what you wish for as every Godless nation in the history of the world has either eroded into a dictatorship or a bastion of selfishness and centrism.
TNSEVOL, you nailed it with the ayatollah comparison. if you listen closely to the language of the evangelical christian and the radical muslim, you will hear many similarities and see a similar view of how they understand god and allah intervening in their worlds.
and as a prime example, riley above seems to think god picks and chooses nations. why do fundamentalist muslims want a muslim state? because they think allah picks and chooses nations.
ya-su....Not wanting god? It that what belief is all about?
All is god and there is no god.
No NJSteve, you are the best joke I've heard all day. And no where in the Constitution does it say that the United Sates is a Christian nation or that marriage is between a man and a woman or that corporations are people to my friend.
I see the wingnut troops have showed up to defend Santorum, they must have been alerted via Twitter that the "evil liberals" were online bad mouthing their self appointed Messiah.
"Anti-God", I have to laugh. Ahh ha ha... Ohh ho ho. Trying to use religion as a divisive wedge between the people of our nation is not admirable - please don't step in this quasi-theocratic political cow pie.
The "Them and US" plan. First, as a republican, I am embarrass for my christian coalition. Second, to use God as our political platform is odious. What that is doing to our country is putting parties into classes of Good and Evil. And then to hand them your measuring stick is dangerous. You sir are no christian. Discernment is our gift from God and I will be praying that the republican party I love is blessed with this gift. I've seen this before in my church when a leader wants to move followers for their own personal gain. Folly follows, and it will happen in the light, then the world will know your heart. Do you really think God would let you use this for your own gain. Many have done this before throughout history.
Yes but it does say people have the right to bear arms that will not be infringed but I still see you bitching about that right...
Santorium is the anti-Christ. First off, the Bible says to obey the rules of the land and by ignoring the first admendment, is ignoring God's words. If he truly wants to follow a Christian life, then he needs to understand what that really means.
...as opposed to a society handcuffed to the irrational bleatings of people who worship unseen sky fairies?
Uhm, I'd like the "former", Alex, for $1000...
And, NJS:
You need to re-read the letter from Jefferson to the Danbury Baptists. It was ALL about the separation of religion from government. Your abysmal deflection notwithstanding, the Supreme Court (which most definitely is chartered to interpret the Constitution, and thankfully not you) has consistently seen fit to rule in alignment with Jefferson's notations.
It's really not so difficult to understand, after all -- religion is a free-for-all, where nothing need be substantiated and all assertion is equally without merit. Public policy must be protected from such vile thrashing...
NJSteve
Obama is actually pretty centrist when you look to his policies. And further, Separation of Church and State, while adopted by President Jefferson (he was already elected for his second term at that time, and thus would have no bearing on his chances of reelection), was incorporated into the meaning of the establishment clause by the Supreme Court in Reynolds v US.
Santorium is the anti-Christ? You sir are a moron.
Santorum is actually doing us all a favpr. Where would we find that the Far Right is as batty as a loon than through Rick santorum?
What nonsense. We are just as awash in god as we ever have been. We could only be so lucky to become a "godless" society.
It is the god delusion that has led us exactly to where we are today.
Wake up people, and use your brains. Take responsibility for your own lives instead of relying on some phony deity and other human created delusions.
Everyone except the willfully ignorant know that that description of President Obama is true. This is the first administration in the past 60 years that has reduced the number of government employees .... that's right .... not Eisenhower .... not Nixon ..... not Ford ..... not Reagan .... not either Bush. President Obama was working for the bailout of the financial industry (with Congressional Republicans) before he even took office. He led the bailout of the auto industry. He has reduced the size of the annual federal deficit in each year of his presidency. He has suggested, against the will of Congressional Democrats, that we should consider modifications in Social Security. There's more, but probably too much for your very narrow mind to take in all at once.
Santorum; what an ass! I can't believe it's 2013 and we're still listening to this sanctimonious dribble from halfwits who still manage to get media attention.
@ Riley
Ummm, we have quite a few godless nations in the world and they are bastions of democracy, whereas the most religious of nations are always nasty dictatorships (i.e. Iran, Nazi Germany, Imperial Japan, Medieval Europe, etc.)
Organized religion is the weaponization of faith.
@ ya-su-ma-locka, who said:
I don't want to worship Beanie babies either, does that mean I'm trying to convince myself that Beanie Babies are actually "God"?
Your statement is about as silly and nonsensical as the rantings of Rick Santorum.
Stating there is no "God" is the DEFAULT position of logic and reason. All evidence points to this conclusion. Stating there IS a "God" requires evidence, of which there is none. (And if you think there is, you have no clue what evidence is, or for that matter logic or reason or scrutiny).
Furthermore, stating there is a supernatural being who willed into existence every quantum particle in the universe, and who can still control their behavior at any distance, DEMANDS proof. What you have is "faith". There is a difference.
Every follower of every religion and supernatural belief purported throughout human history believed - as adamantly as you do - that their belief was fact. Even if each believer's "facts" completely contradicted those of another person's "facts" in their belief system.
If you are a Christian, you reject all the other claimed gods in human history. They aren't real, nor are they gods. (Odin, Zeus, Ra, etc etc). But yours is real and true, according to you. To a follower of a different god, the reverse is true. You are both non-believers.
We atheists simply reject ALL claims of divinity, while Christians reject all but one. As does every other zealot on the planet (unless their belief system involves multiple deities).
So all hail Beanie Babies, their will be done.
(And if the above statement is anything but ridiculous to you, you now have SOME clue how you sound to us).
You have it backwards, ya-su. The burden of proof is on those who claim that God does exist. The answer: "no proof, just have faith." [The "faith" is really faith that those human beings who tell you that the Bible is the "word of God".] Why must so many people be so dependent on others to tell them what they must believe? I guess it's because that fear of Hell or being denied entrance into the "kingdom of Heaven" overwhelms any instinct to think for themselves.
Get a clue. Half of your assertions are WRONG. Obama did NOT reduce the size of the federal deficit whatsoever. There's more, but probably too much for your narrow mind to comprehend.
http://www.factcheck.org/tag/deficit/
A woman at work, when trying to distinquish conservatives from liberals, claimed that conservatise generally are more likely "people of faith." When I asked her what she meant by, "of faith," she stated that that have deeper beliefs. I told her that I had very deep beliefs, but I'm also very liberal. She then explained that conservative generally have deeper beliefs it the rules of the church. So essentailly, I asked her, what it comes down to is conservatives are more obedient to the church's rules? They are less like to question authority? I guess so she said.
Conseratives can claim to be more of faith, if they like - but does that simply mean they are just more obedient; that they are just less likely to question authority?
Why is it that Conservative Republicans ALWAYS espouse disapproval of the poor, the needy, and the infirm against the words of Jesus, Matt, Luke, and Matthew as depicted in the Words of their Bible? They espouse the virtues of being a "Christian" while acting otherwise.
Meanwhile, has anyone a suggestion why the vast Majority of Republicans (Moderate or Left) are either hiding or have been downgraded to mutes? You never heard anything from them. All of the talk is from the Fascist Right.
I think Rick Santorum should be declared Lord Ambassador to the Middle east. Clearly, he is more than qualified to agree with and negotiate with other civilizations that put their belief in God before everything else, especially logic or rational thought, the first and greatest sins in Sanorums' family belief. Rick is clearly the most highly qualified person to negotiate with the Taliban as they also want America to be forced to be under God's rule by means of God's ambassadors on earth, that would be everyone who kills, desires to kill, or recommends others kill in their God's name and for the purpose of glorifying their omnipotent and omniscient God.
However, I think Pennsylvania should deport the man to somewhere below the equator.
No NJSteve, you just took that coveted spot when you said "Nowhere in the constitution do the words 'separation of church and state' exist". Maybe not in so many words, but The First Amendment does say "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peacefully to assemble and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."
For all of you "Constitutional scholars" the attacks on our Constitutional rights were perpetrated by George W Bush when he instituted "free speech zones".
If the wording of the Amendment confuses you, maybe you could study it instead of expecting Glenn Beck or Rush Limbaugh to do it for you.
Beside the fact that Santorum can apparently read Obama's mind it is also apparent the Ricky doesn't know what separation of Sate and Church means.
Riley, Any government that would allow "citizens" to stockpile weapons and ammunition in the amounts being bought up in the last four years, and combined with the radical anti American rhetoric, without reacting in a like manner, would be derelict in his duty to "defend the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic".
The more I think about it the more I feel confident that GOP's days are numbered because of these crazy lunatics like Santorum Bachman Palin Trump on one side and Ryan on the other. Eitherway they are doomed as a party.
I love this guy! He's great TV. I remember during the primary at the beginning of a week on a Sunday morning program he stated his opposition to abortion and my dad said..."there goes 50% of his vote." Then a week later in the news he said he wanted to ban pornography and my dad said..."well...there goes the other 50%!"
Which IS the government. Of the people...by the people...for the people. A civics class might come in handy.
Rick speaks the truth, you complainers better get ready to burn, cause right now with your positions, you will....FOREVER. Read the Bible. Either withn Hom or against Him, appears most of you are AGAINST,He gets the last laugh, but He probably won't be laughing when He condems you all to that lake of fire, He'll say I did everything I could but you wouldn't accept Me. so sad, enjoy the www comments mocking Him, you don't have much time left, nor do I. turn from your wicked ways
Santorum and all the right wing gun-lovin', war-lovin', Obama-hating folks have created a "Jesus-less" America. Jesus--a pacifist who hung out with the poor while slamming the rich--would be well familiar with the hypocrites that Santorum so typifies...in fact, if Jesus came back today, people like Santorum would crucify him again.
malacka, I don't know who you're talking about. I never said there is no god, just that he has no place in our legislative process. like the Bible said "Render unto Caesar what is his"
Santorum evokes the name of god as though only he were representative of god. This man seems to be literally losing his mind - in public.
(Also, did he really equate the French Revolution and French society with being "godless"???)
It seems to me that the GOP is being increasingly represented by ranting wackos.
sam-790083 - Gosh...I never really thought about it that way. Oh wait...I did...then my reason and logic got the better of me and I grew up and stopped believing in fairy tales.
"If you don't want tax dollars helping the sick and the poor, then it is time to stop saying you want a government based on Christian values." John Fugelsang.
A world without god would be a world of little war.
But a world without liberals would be even better.
Given the worldwide track record of religion, this is bad how? And Santorum's particular brand is especially noxious with it's anti-poor, anti-minority, anti-women message. Give him a few turns in Bohner's tanning bed, wrap a towel around his head and a bathrobe, say 'Allah' instead of 'God' and you could drop him into Iran without a ripple....
Ding ding ding! There goes the prize. Sam is the first to say it out loud on this thread. If you aren't with us, then you're against us. That is the core belief of all religious zealots. It is the core belief of the tea party, and the reason they believe compromise is a dirty word. It is, strangely for a 'modern' country in the year 3013, the reason we have gridlock in the halls of government today.
It is, simply put, one of the most divisive beliefs known to man.
Well put Johntho,
How has the GOP cornered the Christian market? Their leaders don't help the least of His children--they send their wealth offshore to take it with them when they die.
Crazy Steve, you may be crazy, but you hit the nail on the head there.
When someone tells me they speak for God, I say they are full up to the eyeballs with horsedoodoo.
Riley, you exemplify RWers. Thanks for coming to this thread.
The MRAP's, 1.6 Billion rounds of ammo, etc... That crap has been debunked over and over again. Hell, the 1.6 Billion rounds of ammo was debunked by the farking NRA. Your argument about Obama not lowering the deficit is bunk also, which is why you didn't link to a specific article on Factcheck, just a searchable tag which provides no insight AND includes blog posts.
Regarding Obama lowering the deficit:
w ww.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2012/oct/05/mitt-romney/mitt-romney-says-barack-obama-has-doubled-deficit/
Regarding the "Ammo Purchase". The Gov't uses what's called an IDIQ Contract base for things like this. The contract for ammo is open ended, it allows us to purchase ammo at set costs. The 1.6b rounds is the upper end of what we COULD purchase at the current rates, not what we HAVE ordered or Purchased. Basically whatever right-wing rag you're reading took all the contracts for ammo (IDIQ's, some with soft caps), totaled up the MAX amount of ammo we could purchase under those contracts, and said we purchased it.

Regarding the MRAPs:

Those purchaes for 2717 MRAP's were for the Navy and Marines.
Is there any other right-wing propaganda you'd like debunked while I have a few moments? Sadly, I realize none of this will change your mind. It's set in stone no matter how much evidence is given to you.
That's what's so depressing about the current GOP.
We believe what we believe.
Facts are for sissies.
Half of your assertions are WRONG. Obama did NOT reduce the size of the federal deficit whatsoever
wrong:
2009 (bush spending and bailout: 1,483 billion
2010 (Obama) :1,293 billion
2011 : 1,300 billion
2012 :1,089 billion
est 2013 : 901 billion
2011 was slightly higher than the previous year by 7 billion, every other year under Obama has declined.
the biggest problem has been the LOSS OF REVENUES CAUSED BY THE BUSH-LED ECONOMIC MELTDOWN!
if it hadn't been for that, the deficits would be small to non-existent
Also here's the NRA on Gov't Ammo purchases. Hopefully an article from a certified right-wing group will help you.
w ww.nraila.org/news-issues/articles/2012/federal-law-enforcement-agencies-buy-ammunition.aspx
ed, all the riech-wing loonies will tell you that fact-checkers are satans tools
they say the same for science, logic, reason, etc.
Back to the sanitarium Santorum. Your day pass is over.
This is getting so OLD. Conspiracy theories right and left. No pun intended. When did we become a society that would rather spend time tearing each other down than working together and fixing things? I am not defined by Democrat or Republican and I am not going to ever be. I vote for whom I think can do the best job. But if this great divide cannot be closed with the people running things right now, then it is time to get rid of them and start over. If we have too, impeach every last one of them. This is getting so ridiculous. Voting for something only if their special interest is tacked on at the bottom. Bull crap! One bill at a time, no add on's and no pay after retirement. Term limits and "company match on a 401 K" let them take their chances just like the rest of us. It's time to make a change and if the ones in there now won't change without being impeached, than we need to get the procedures going. FIX this mess or get out. You have a choice.
As for Rick - there is a reason he is not in the Whitehouse and I think it's because he is half nuts. To bring this up and sqwauking on and on trying stir everyone up in a frenzy. Shut up Rick. Your 15 minutes are up and you wasted them. Step aside and let some people with some sense do the talking.
Mark, I know - That's why I put in the last few lines.
The reasons the GOP piss off the lib's so much is the blatant dismissal of facts. A fact is a fact, regardless of who reported it. If your beliefs are not backed up by facts (at least when it comes to policy decisions) then you need to adjust your beliefs to coincide with reality, because guess what? Reality's not going to fix itself to fit your beliefs.
Religion is another matter. Religion is belief (faith) absent of facts. I have no problem with this whatsoever.
But that's not how you should decide policy.
I think I speak for the majority of real Americans when I say:
Santorum?... That's the Gomer Pyle looking dufus with the effeminate sweaters, right?
Good work ED-2990755
I would add that it is organized religions' use of a persons faith to achieve their goals, that is the problem. It is often used against the person's best interests.
Not to spam but what's REALLY depressing is this stupid "DHS Purchases 2700 MRAP" story that's floating around.
FFS PEOPLE. Take 10 seconds and THINK. Why in God's name would the Department of Homeland Security need MINE RESISTANT vehicles? Do you REALLY think that if the Gov't was going to stamp down an insurrection or impose martial law or whatever other unimaginable horror they're going to inflict on the populace, they're going to do with with vehicles designed to resist Mines?
Get a grip people.
Hey you too, ED-2874315! :D
This man is like Michael Myers, every time I think he's gone he pops back up. It is truly baffling that ANYONE thinks the cast of characters at CPAC are indicative of our political or cultural beliefs. That is straight up, bat @!$%# crazy. I mean, it basically boils down to a bunch of outdated, crazy folks blowing sunshine up each other's asses.
When a Bush is the standard bearer of "electability" and "rationality", you've got a problem.
Sam, you seem to be getting your conservative saviors confused, it was George Bush who said "you are either with me or against me", not Jesus. And the reason we are all going to burn is because of corporate pirates and their puppet conservative politician's greed and anti-environmental agenda, not because of your fictional father figure getting pissed because we didn't stroke his over-sized ego enough.
There's no doubt Santorum is way out there on the right wing branch, and cutting another notch in it with every word. He may be scary as a politician, but what is really frightening is that some people actually believe he speaks for them. It is hard to believe that so many people listen to him with heads nodding and minds closed.
Sam, all I can say is Hallelulja, and pass the caviar. Since it seems likely to be pretty hot where I'll be, guess I'll opt for BBQ ribs.
the lunatic fringe...............
American Family Association spokesman Bryan Fischer spoke yesterday with fellow AFA radio host Alex McFarland about Project 2026, which McFarland explained is a long-term initiative to save America from annihilation at the hands of “the four groups that are actively working to secularize and destroy America: humanists; atheists; militant homosexuals; and Muslims.”
Fischer claimed that Americans are unwittingly relying on the “moral and spiritual capital” created by past generations and once it is all used up “America could be finished.” McFarland warned that “apostate” churches and people “that are enlisted for Satan” are pushing societal collapse.
President Obama is absolutely driving these people out of their minds!! I love it, they are terrified by their own ignorant beliefs!!
sounds like Fischer and McFarland fall under the "enlisted by satan" category.
these "Christian dominionists" are the ones that are dying to create religious concentration camps to "reeducate" the non-believers in the name of "religious freedom" . oh the irony
I do not like the fact that he played the color card when talking about born again Christians. True born again Christians do not use the color card to divide themselves. We know that we are brothers and sisters in Christ. The color of our skin does not matter. It is the content of our heart that matters. He talks like he thinks all African Americans voted for Obama. I'm African American. I did not vote for Obama. I did not vote for the Republican candidate either. I voted for the other candidate on the ballot. I saw the Republican candidate doing harm to this country in the short run but I saw Obama as more dangerous, doing a more permanent damage to this country in the long run by steering this country to more immorality which will cause this country to become cursed. I know of other blacks that did not vote for Obama either. It is principles that matter, not the color of a person's skin and their are born again Christians of all nationalities in this country. A true born again Christian would embrace all Christians regardless of the color of their skin. By Santorum only embracing the white born again Christians, he is alienating all other Christians and even some white Christians, because they see him as just saying what he believes would get him what he perceives as the majority moral vote. I do not believe he is a born again Christian. Going to church do not make you a Christian. It just make you a faithful church goer.
These morons made absolute fools of themselves over President Obama years ago.
I am looking forward to a Santorum run against Hillary in 2016. Please pick Michelle Bachman as your running mate, Rick. Oh, and I have a great choice for your "science" advisor: Ken Ham.
If hell existed, these cretins would already be there, as they can hardly sink any lower.
I want to make everyone aware the "ya su ma locka" is a pathetic attempt to phoenetically spell the Modern Greek that means "Bye-Bye, fa***t" (the "f" word being the one that is commonly used as a severe put down of homosexual men).
Interesting what dirty, bigoted filth crawls from beneath the rocks to defend the "christian" god and Rick Santorum.
Fun quotes from some of Ricky Santorums
closetclosest friends and allies...............Bryan Fischer: A Full Moon Is When 'Satan Chooses to Activate His Influence and Control Over People'
Tony Perkins:" Allowing Women In Combat Will Lead to Reinstatement of the Draft"
Buster Wilson: "Gays in the Boy Scouts Will Lead to Abuse, Death and the Destruction of America"
Bryan Fischer: "Todd Akin is Making the Case that the GOP is not 'the Stupid Party'"
Peter Sprigg: "Kidnapping Laws Shouldn't Protect Gay Parents"
Tony Perkins: "Democrats Aligned with 'Jewish Lobby,' 'Enjoy the Money' Coming from Jews" (I always found it funny how the wingnuts loved Israel but hated the Jews).
Santorum: Colleges 'Indoctrinating' Students in 'Sea of Antagonism Toward Christianity'
Rick Santorum’s world..I do not want anything to do with Rick Santorum or his church or any church for that matter telling any of us how we should live.Politicans are elected to serve us..not us serve them....I think they all see themselves as better than those who elected them. We most likely do need a third party...one that for a change has some honest folks running for all offices who have no problems listening to those that elect them.
Reply to Katherine M: All born again Christians do not disregard science. Some science actually proves the bible to be true. Global warning was prophesied by Apostle Peter ( 2nd chapter and 10th verse of 2nd Peter).
I agree you should use race instead
NJSTEVE -- In England and the Colonies before the Revolution if you were not a member of the State Church(Anglican) you could not vote, own property, be a member of government or many other things. Of course, you also had to be a White male over 21 years to do any of those things. That is the origin of the prohibition of an "Established Religion". It helped that most of the "Founding Fathers" were not really what Rick would consider to be Christians; they believed in God(sort of) but not in religion, they mostly used words like Providence or "Nature's God" when referencing the deity. They were comfortable, most of them, with keeping religion and government completely separate.
Deprogrammer, They're all sick in their own way but what in the he!! was Peter Sprigg thinking when he made that statement??? I don't even understand the context.
Ivan, unfortunately, I don't think we're advanced enough to embrace a political party that has no ulterior motives for running for office. I do think, however that we could draft a candidate for office, according to civic projects he/she involves himself with, and activist affiliations. I know I'll get laughed out of town for this, but the system in place now just seems to get worse every day.
Santorum is absolutely right, we only have followers in Congress who are unwilling to stand up to what is right for the country and its people.
You only need to read the comments at the top to realize just how ungodly and self-centered a lot of people have become. Their lives are centered on worldly things in life and could't care less about the country that WAS founded on Christian principles, biblical truth and biblical thinking. All of which played a pivotal role in the birthing of America.
So now everyone else but the GOP is "Godless"? And exactly WHY does Mr. Rick think Obama is "Godless" and is driving the country to be "Godless"? It seems that these people will make up whatever @!$%# they want about Obama, then, since they have no other compelling attributes, they run on that made-up platform... "Obama is Godless (problem statements) and I am God-full (Solution).
I thought telling lies was "Godless".
I would think that people that are eager to strike the first blow in a war might be considered Godless.
Being borne of greed might be considered Godless in many circles.
I thought only Godless people blamed the poor for both being poor and for virtually all their problems.
Only Godless people would reject immigrants... and exclude others because of religion... or race... or nationality... or gender... or sexual preference... or financial status... or age.
I don't know, but it sure seems like the right has the "Godless" problem here.
I know that this is a pretty over-used question, but seriously, where would Jesus stand on most of these issues? From my learnings, he certainly wouldn't be standing at CPAC except to maybe convince them to change their ways. He'd be standing with the 47%.
Obama is an idiot:

Rick Santorum is NOT the voice of all Christians or believers.
Still haven't learned that out of control rhetoric scares people who don't already share your beliefs away eh?
... Well, there's always 2020, I guess.
He's got this all wrong. Obama doesn't want to take GOD out of the US... he just wants to make the Fed Govt the new God we all worship.
Mr. Santorum, a godless America? Then why does the President continue to go to church and attend Prayer Breakfasts with your fellow Republicans in attendance?
99octane,
Please stop shoving your self-righteous atheistic religion down the throats of those who worship Someone other than themselves.
Thank you.
How do Republicans make this stuff up, and why?
Santorum, lay off the booze and quit trying to make religion a political issue.
Gee Sam, I really appreciate your concern for my immortal soul but I think I will pass on your omnipotent invisible mythological deity. Nothing personal but I'm just not interested.
PS: I am glad to see Ol' Frothy Santorum and Sarah "Death Panels" Palin still heading the Batsh!t crazy wing of the GOP. Ever wonder what would have resulted if they had actually mated? Kind of scary.
More fun stuff from Rick and his crazy friends on the far right..............
Beck: UN Convention on Rights of the Disabled Sounds Like Something 'Fascistic From the Nazi Days'
Family Research Council: Hagel Confirmation May Bring God's Judgment
Kenneth Blackwell: Obama is 'Dead Set' on 'Destroying Families' and Replacing God

deprogrammer,
Yes generalize over 100 million American's opinions on 4 people... sad and lazy.
John Bryant, Sprigg made that statement in reference to the plan that his group of wingnuts has to steal children from gay parents in order to "save them from gay indoctrination".
TO: Chip D-2844144 who wrote:
If Republicans had 100 million American followers they'd never lose an election.
As it stands now, they can't even win one.
Hi 1SGFitz: I should? Why?
TO: silverton-2953905 who wrote:
What, he just likes to "pretend" he is?
Chip, first, of course your name is Chip.
Secondly, those "3" people speak to and for (according to them) all conservative evengelical Christians
and third, all I said was "here's some quotes from some of Rick's wacky friends on the far right", you are the one who took what they said and associated with all "100,000,000 wingnuts" (me thinks your math is a bit "foxy", perhaps you meant 10,000,000, which is about how many people suffer from mental illness in the US and strangely enough thats how many people take their marching order from the likes of Beck, Dobson, Perkins, Fischer, Sprigg, and the rest of the "3" you said I quoted, again your math is a bit fuzzy)
Well, certainly not Santorum's God, at least....
@ silverton-2953905, who typed to me:
Sure, just as soon as religious zealots stop trying to tell me and everyone else in this country how to live, what to read, who to be with, what to think, etc etc.
Oh yeah, and as soon as the last "Intelligent Design" proponent goes away and there is no more threat to factual PUBLIC education in favor of theistic belief.
And...um...."atheistic religion"? Nice try, but no sale. Apparently you have no idea what those two words mean. My worldview requires no faith. I admit ignorance where it exists, and seek to learn the factual answers from the natural universe through the scientific method. That might be called a philosophy, but not a religion.
As for you calling me "self righteous", I'd like to direct you to any Webster's Dictionary - see "IRONY".
I stand by my words, every one of them - and can back them up logically and with facts. If that makes me "self-righteous" to those uncomfortable with facts, so be it.
Crystal-569996
Okay, fair enough.
Now take your gawd-awful list and let us know which ones WERE NOT in effect during the Bush administration and that DID NOT have Republican hands all over them.
Critical thinking is gone.
Silverton
Neither is the people on newsvine.
They slander, misrepresent, defame in a day far more than Sen. Santorum will in his lifetime.
Even in your posts on Newvine I do not see God's opinion, I see yours.
The IRONY here is that you have a group of people who constantly whine and cry about LIBERTY and FREEDOM yet they are SLAVES of the mind to RELIGION !!! When religion/dogma is controlling every facet of your life.... what you do, what you think , what you believe, how you act, how you treat other people, etc etc.... YOU ARE A SLAVE. EVERY SINGLE decision/thought/action is based on that dogma/belief and the FEAR of guilt/repercussions/punishment, etc. How the hell is that FREEDOM ??? NON-theists are the only humans who are TRULY FREE.
What a bunch of morons.

Original thought is good...........
Will there be no end to this mindless (Santorum in this case) drivel? It's becoming apparent that the American public is far more intelligent, and far more perceptive of their surroundings than the Republican Party. The ovations at these gatherings are deafening - as is the silence at the polls.
Rick Santorum is the definition of vile in my dictionary. If he ever becomes President of this country I will move to Somalia. The barbarians there are at least twice as civilized as he is.
Here we have the confluence of evil cloaked in santimonous tawdry dribble of a one of America's holy hucksters. One of the leaders of the "Tea-Baggin' Buffoons"...at this evil posing as the a convivial
moralist come to deliver to us, the people, the utter word of God....channeled
through his mind into words, dictums of the Lord to us. This front-man, chosen himself
as the one to convey the munificence to us of the creator, to the people of America a
cheap double talking huckster, part acting as a pastor and all oil snake salesman, self-appointed
clergy to the country...he know that God wants Social Society whittled down for Americas elderly, no pre-school for our children...a shill for the 1% a unabashed liar hiding behind his family....his bona vide is in exploiting his family, his air of conviviality masking his indecency in motives to impoverish our seniors,
enslave our children and the litany of proposed drudgery's of life’s hardships imposed on
us is endless...no shared sacrifice. So is this vision of this shill, he rambles on as if in some
mental dementia…his warped vision. No age group immune is safe, no generation of America; our infants, our young women, our working class, our access to health care...as I said a litany of evil behind the jovial
countenance....pure evil...a front man....a mouth piece. A social psychopatology in his person speaking from his core beliefs which go right to his true self...this is no act he is his words, behind the facade, the shill and evil that he is when stripped of all the fluff. This is a horrible future for the millions of
Americans living in the greatest....meaning richest...affluent ever...society of individuals in all of history....those agreeing to form a union of citizens a group if individuals...think of this as a country of fellow citizens living in large part, morally, to the dictum's of Jesus Christ...how far we are.....how frightening to listen to the America they visualize (Coke Bros., Freedman, Trump, Palin, Limbaugh, Ted Cruz, Perry, Coulter, Hannity, Fox noise, those that NRA control in congress)

Try looking up the definition of, "Santorum."
Newsflash:
Not all Christians are Republicans and not all Atheists are Democrats.
American Girl,
Nope, Rick Santorum does not speak for all Christians, just the ultra-conservative fundamentalists.

Debunked? Hardly
Isn't this guy's 15 minutes up about 5,000,000 minutes ago ?
Why does ANYONE even bother to listen to the crazy people, at all?
It's nice to see some of the regular teabaggers ("chip","kkwilson","crystal"...) come out in support of Rick Santorum. Now we all know that you also support dishonest corruption in government, mental and emotional child abuse, self-righteous bigotry and using a normally respectable religion to push for an America that does not hold the separation of church and state dear.
Hey Riley, yes, lets dance!
Your first link is about 16 MRAPs. In fact, it just reinforces the links I provided (which you apparently didn't read?). Thanks for proving my point for me.
Your second link is to a blog post. On the Forbes blog site. It provides ZERO proof. Unlike the articles I gave you which actually, you know, provide evidence and things called "facts". The FIRST LINK in the Forbes article to the Denver Post article that they got their information from QUOTES how IDIQ contracts work, AGAIN furthering my point.
Riley, Debunked - YES.
So come on, mythbuster. Lets dance.
For further clarity on how wrong a person can be, you posted in your first post in this thread:
"Your choice of adminstations is busy eroding your Constitutional rights while preparing for civil unrest with the addition of 2700 DHS Armored Vehicles, 7000 M4 Assault rifles and 1.6 billion rounds of hollow point ammunition for use within the United States."
(emphasis mine), but the first article in your last post reads:
"The Department of Homeland Security is using 16 military-style, mine-resistant ambush protected vehicles for use during "high-risk warrants," according to an official spokesman"
I know this may be hard to understand, but 16 != 2700.
NONE of the articles you linked actually provide a little thing called PROOF. The Forbes article (after the DP Link) links to NOTHING but blog posts.
You are the PERFECT example of people only accepting material from their "approved" sources.
TNSEVOL,
Because he is a religious zealot that wants a theocracy instead of a democracy.

Here I'll help you, since you're Google-Fu looks like it sucks.

Silverton,
I never claimed to speak for God.
Neither has Santorum exactly either. But once you profess a faith that doesn't stop people from claiming you do. Does it?
One must be careful not to raise their hands against God's annointed. I don't know that he is one of God's annointed, but I have a real hard time finding much fault in him when I chase down what is said about him.
You should see the Wikipedia definition.

I thought we were finally done with having to listen to this dumbsh!t.
deprogrammer, As to the statement of Sprigg, In the America I grew up in that would still be called kidnapping.
Was Cardinal Santorum serving a tasty, nutty eucharist wafer to offset that sour whine of a speech?
Santorum = predictable! Just more of the same from the Repubs!
Ed 299-----, Next time don't just cite right wing extremist sites, You don't get the whole picture if the only sources are the same place. Even a brainless liberal knows that. You could have gotten the same drivel from The Drudge Report, and tried to beat us to death with three sources.
So now we Americans are, 'godless'?
What god died, and made Santorum, boss?
Other than the usual butt-goo that he spews, does it bother anyone else that he felt the necessity to bring 7 more like him into the world? Morality over religion won't go too far in that household I bet.
true enough, the scope of "Christians" is quite broad, and the radical , lunatic religious fringe represented by rick sanitarium dismisses all of the "other" Christians as either fallen or actively in league with the devil.
no wonder I call the likes of rick sanitarium the "Christian Taliban", they aren't any different from the taliban
why can't they live by the example of the Amish and the Quakers? religious and devout as can be, yet I would never fear them or harm them, likewise they too are all too well aware of what the like of rick sanitarium are up to, since they have also been on the receiving side of the "state religion" (which is why they came here) that the Christian dominionists want to impose on this country
I know many Christians of varying degrees of faith, and none like the dominionists or "new apostolic reformation" represented by RS, or sarah palin, etc. once they learn what these people are rally up to, total religious control of the country and the establishment of an "army of god" for global conquest
Santorum is a moronic, misogynist POS! A previous poster is right. He is no different than the Ayatollah.
Funny, I've seen non-religious linked with self-serving many times here. My friends who do not believe in god are the ones I see out doing the most for others. It is the Christians that are too busy serving themselves or thinking they are serving others by contributing to their church(self-serving at its best).
It is the faith based communities that can not accept people who are different than they are. They are too busy believing that they know the only right way and all others must be forced to follow what they believe. They hate the poor, the elderly, and the infirmed. NO medical care, no social security, no help for anyone making under 250,000 a year. A derisive group who only believe in their own interpretations of the fairy tale.
Those of the non-god school want to help those who are less fortunate. They want a government that recognizes that people can not always take care of themselves. They are hard working but know they are one accident or illness away from being on the other side of the fortune line.
Among the non-god people are straight people with gay friends; people who could not fathom having an abortion but support the right of others to make that choice, and who have a rainbow of friends with different customs and thoughts to share. They are a cooperative of people who learn from sharing their thoughts and experiences. They seek knowledge of what they don't yet know instead of explaining it away with "have faith".
The founding fathers saw the need to keep religion out of government. This was more important than the right to bear arms(amendment 1 vs. amendment 2). The fall of empires and nations has occurred as the result of theocracy and/or the divide between religious groups in a nation. This information was known to them and they provided us with a way to avoid it.
We have invaded countries due to their religious extremists. In fact, we have led other nations into those wars. We have set the standard. When religious zealots rule, it is the duty of the other nations to invade and restore the rights of all the people. Still willing to vote for Santorum or any other religious zealots?
If you are, prepare for the war that will follow. Other nations will come to free the rest of us from your terrorist ways.
wittyone,
I can ascertain by your post that you have never really known any true Christians, otherwise you would see how narrow-minded your statements are.
Pity.
I think Rick Santorum is a right-wing fanatic, too, but I don't judge a whole group of people by one person's views.
It's nice to see Mr Rick is still on the Yellow Brick Road, hoping the Great Oz will give him a brain. I always wondered what form of intelligence would have a negative IQ. Mr Rick answers my question.
Rick Santorum: God told me to tell all of you to give me your money. He's mad about stuff and said I'm the only one who can fix it, but I can only fix it if you give me all your money first. Trust me, God said so. Totally. Gimme money.
If Santorum represents God, I would rather be an atheist.
But I am not, I am an Episcopalian...and I don't want anyones version of their religion in my government.
Yes I am a White Male Democrat Episcopalian 1%er...imagine that...
And I totally believe that healthcare for all is a moral imperative
I believe that lifting up those who have less through assistance and EDUCATION (Job Training) is the key to a better America
I do not want your laws on my body or in my bedroom.
that is Freedom
I am truly impresed. I didn't know that Santorum supports hedonism. I worship the god of sex. With women, several women at the same time. And since the constitution prevents him from imposing his god on me - he must mean my god. Great - how he can prove that he really is not gay.
Sex sex sex - and it is sanctioned by the fundamentalist lunatics. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Now I want my statue of men and women fornicating outside the courthouse - right next to those statues of the ten commandments.
Of course, Frothy santorum is an absolute fuc king TWIT - thrown out of office by Pennsylvania and NOW somehow convinced that "he" is the chosen one (of course, he couldn't win a PRIMARY - not even in his home state... but whatever - a LEGEND in his own MIND)
The sad about Santorum's foolish statement. There are some who believes him.
His statement defines the WHOLE problem...
It's apparently all about "profit a movement" (profit to the Tea Party) and about "gain the country" (power to the Tea Party) and "lose it's soul" (the uncompromising Tea Party), with absolutely no goal mentioned like "for the good of people or country".
Explains it all... it's all about the movement itself.
Rick abandoned his moral underpinnings years ago, if indeed he ever had any. He married a woman who lived 'in sin' with the obstetrician who delivered her...he makes his living begging for donations to his lost causes...he lies, lobbys, and holds himself morally superior to others.
Santorum is like a cancer growing in the weak minds of the fearful, delusional right wingers. He and his ilk are the worst of America. One can only hope his insane rhetoric will soon grow tiring even to those who are as insane as he is.
The DNS has to have some kind of a spy embedded deep, deep, deep inside the Republican Party. How else could you explain this CPAC deal with Republicans putting on display most of their losers and the craziest of their crazies in one place. What a line-up of of loons and losers -- Romney, Santorum, Palin, Gingrich, Trump, Allen West --- what a vote getting line-up --- for Democrats.
My deep and abiding faith and belief in our Creator will not be shaken by all the nay-sayers. However, I will always defend their right to express their views, so long as they are not forced on anyone. Moreover, I believe Rick Santorum is a lunatic, to whom no one should listen -- ever. The people of Pennsylvania sent him packing with a resoundingly lopsided vote against him, and that should have been the end of his public life. Nevertheless, political organizations continue to give him the microphone and behave as if he is sane, and has something to contribute to the public discourse. He does not. Why do we have to be exposed, on a continuing basis, to his twisted religious-based view of governance? It simply makes no sense. The fact that he still has an audience is the biggest failure of our society. Until we can silence nuts like him, we will never be able to address our serious issues.
That has been my experience too. When my mother was caring for my bed-ridden, terminally ill father, their church (to which they had been sustaining contributors for years) did nothing to help them.
They prayed for my parents and called that help.
Real help would have been sitting with my dad for an hour while my mother ran errands or shopped... but it was so much easier for them to merely pray and feel they had done their moral duty.
Helping a friend or neighbor is a civic duty and the glue that binds a community together. A church that considers praying equal to taking an active role in the community adds nothing of value and elevates paying lip service to holiness.
That is only one of the reasons I do not belong to a so-called 'faith-based' community.
Frankly True,
A shout-out to you. I could have written every word of your comment myself -- except "Democrat". Thanks for your posting.
This shows you all the Nuts the Tea Movement is turning out, like Palin, Bachmann, Santorum, Ryan, Rubio and Rand Paul, this is getting very scary and a embarrassment to the American people !!!
Crystal is a two-bit bigot.
And Santorum wants a Fascist Theocracy in America.
It's that simple.
Yes Ed, lets dance. I was a Marine, actually a Recon Marine 1st Bravo Co. 1st Batt. We shipped home 4200 MRAPS when we left Helmand Province, Camp Leatherneck starting in November of 2012. Most of these were developed as late as 2009. Why in the hell would we purchase an additional 2700 APCs without:
A.) 50 call or MK19 turret mounts (retrofitting is expensive and relatively impossible considering new Pentagon budgeting restrictions). To propose that the USMC would share a design with a federal agency is preposterous considering we dont share a uniform, a sidearm or a tradition with any branch, our MRAPS were designed for us by us (Gen Brogan/Kelly USMC were the appropriators)
B.) The absence of RPG and projectile netting and/or screens. Again an expensive aftermarket addition when applying these prior to them leaving the factory is the cheapest way to outfit these vehicles.
C.) A mirror image of Navistar's domestic prototype? We still have thousands in country (Afghanistan) made exclusively for the USMC by BAE that will be demobilized and sent to the rear in 2014 that have seen few miles and no action. Why would we update a fleet that has no potential deployments anywhere these would be useful? Africa notwithstanding? We wouldnt. The USMC has no need for these, but hey since you are unable to read between the lines and believe everything that the press crams down your throat, I would imagine you would.
D). No arrival of anything resembling these at Camp LeJune / Pendleton as of last week.
In addition, I currently work as a contractor for the US. Department of Justice overseas. So needless to say, I have a little insight beyond trolling MSNBC for my facts. Ammunition purchases by federal agencies are not secretive (FedBizOpps.gov) and are often purchased in manageable increments for the purpose of expeditious shipping and allocation.
Your sources are written where as mine are a little closer to home. Sorry, your loss.
riley-1759556,
Perhaps you should be more descrinminating when contacting persons through newsvine's rebuttal service.
You appear to have me mixed up with another ED. Happy St Patrick's day.
Dear God,
Time to use your SMITE powers.
Mr. Santorum has over-extended your good name.
Sincerely,
The few, the brave, the smart ones of the GOP
Is any comment needed here? At what point does the media start interviewing these guys in padded cells?
Why should Santorum be in a padded cell? Simply because you disagree with his beliefs? I guess that's what the left really wants then, all those on the right to be locked up and put out of the way a crazies! While I do not agree with much of the Democrats agenda, or with a the GOP's agenda, I do not imply that either side should be locked up for expressing and defending their beliefs.
STLMike - are you listening to what Santorum is saying? This is not "I believe that we can solve our problems with humility and prayer," this is "Obama is Godless horrible anti-American satanist communist killer."
Santorum, and the whole CPAC, have gone off the deep end. It is no longer possible for anyone of sanity or morality to support conservatism in America, when its leaders are without either.
@STLMike, Santorum makes it clear that he judges and condemns those who disagree with his beliefs. As religious as he claims to be should mean that only God judges men. He has always talked down to those who don't share his beliefs. He wants to represent his core followers and cast the rest of America to hell.
Your comment, I believe is precisely the type of insult and ignorant ranting that Senator Santorum refers to as rapidly developing under a godless society. Your insult demonstrates the negative attitudes and tone being adopted by so many Americans today. That tone demonstrates imbecility. The insults directed without any sort of connection is lunacy. To see these types of comments under so many articles rather than well-thought out contribution is extremely embarrassing to me in the face of the international community that often practices decorum or propriety in their various cultures. The negative comments are not only present, here, though, but are broadly distributed and freely shared now wherever we go in the United States. The harmful insults are becoming commonplace and an accepted behavior in American society. Shock jocks have no place in American politics, which can be better served by persons with a higher standard of decency and a greater resolve to reinforce morality for our American children.
I hope that more persons like the Santorums that care about our society come forward and take a solid stand against jerks like you.
I will pray for you and hope that you reconsider and revise your statement.
Non-coms... Did I defend anything that Santorum said, or imply or even state I agreed with him? No, all I said is that I do not beleive someone should be labled and mentally instable or insane needing to be locked up simply for expressing their beliefs.
Secondly, it is possible, for someone to support conservatism in America while still disagreeing with the actions of the "leaders" as you want to lable them. Did you ever think it might be possible to support a belief system that others also support without directly supporting them? By your reasoning, you think I should abandon part of my belief system simply because someone that shares my beliefs does not act according to that persons beliefs. Did it ever occur to you there is a large segment of conservatives that are very unhappy with the actions of the elected officials. I'm sorry, but I do not blindly follow someone simply because they have been elected or claim to hold moral superiority over me. I am an individual and will make up my own mind in how I will live my life and support my beliefs!
mike430
@STLMike, Santorum makes it clear that he judges and condemns those who disagree with his beliefs.
Is not saying with whom you do not agree deserves to be interviewed in a padded room not a judgment itself. Again, did I defend anything that Santorum said. No, I only point out the point that I do not think it right to call someone crazy or call for them being locked up simply on the basis of not agreeing witht that person's religious or political beliefs.
Justis4U-
You complain about the "shock jock" approach to politics, then hold up Rick Santorum as an example of "higher standards of decency and a greater resolve to reinforce morality for our American children"?
Rick Santorum equated President Obama to Hitler and did everything but call him the 'n-word'.
Hardly a "beacon of decency".
There is NOTHING wrong with having ties to religion. There is EVERYTHING wrong with ties to your lobbyist...
@Justice, I despise people that pray for others that do not need it, regardless of whether you think they do. Praying for someone because of an offhanded comment underneath an article soon to be forgotten on nbcnews.com is probably the biggest insult you can target at an individual whom you do not know. What you've done with that offhanded comment is worse than the most of the "negative" comments you have accused American society of perpetrating. Praying for someone who does not wish it or need it implies that you posses some healing power when you tilt your head downward and talk to yourself. You do not. Come down from your position of holy power and join the rest of humanity. Yes, it is a screwed up humanity by many accounts, but insulting an individual by telling them you'll "pray" for them (which I highly doubt you will, THANK GOD) isn't doing anything except pissing off good people. Like me. Nobody is listening to your prayers, and the "jerks" of the world will continue to post whatever they want. Also, I don't know why you limit these "negative" comments to just America; if you pay attention to any other part of the globe, people generally dislike (and often times display their dislike for) other people in those places as well.
I wish more people like me would take an honest stand against the real jerks like you.
I work in the field of mental health. If one of the patients we work with started to verbalize these thoughts, we would be very concerned. This is called "confabulating," taking bits and pieces of what is real (there is someone named "President Obama") and then filling in the gaps with beliefs that are obviously not based in reality ("and he wants to create a godless country").
Creating a reality that is based on inferior rather than superior facts, and refusing to acknowledge the superior facts that do not support the alternate reality, is common in those with several different types of mental disorders.
Of course, I would not diagnose anyone without a thorough assessment and evaluation - but I can tell you this for sure. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but no one is entitled to create their own set of facts. His frame of reference for these remarks is not based in what is factually true and evident. That is the problem.
I would say perhaps the secondary problem is that the partisan divide has gotten so deep and so unreasonable, many people are no longer able to distinguish between an opinion based in fantasy and an opinion based in facts. Many seem to be unable to distinguish between the rantings of someone who has a mental health issue, and the reasonable discourse of someone who has both feet firmly in a shared, common reality.
@ AThoughtOr2 - Let's hope he is just trying to drum up support, I would seriously doubt that he thinks of Obama as Godless. I really don't believe that Obama thinks of Romney as a "wife killer" although his commericals sure seem to indicate it.
Politics at it's lowest.... and best!
@STLMIke
This is why we never get anywhere these days. Because we have people who insist that that truth lies at the exact midpoint between two opinions. That if we just bring everybody to the table and listen to everybody, then we will make everybody happy.
Sorry. You are just wrong dude. You want to pretend that the earth is flat? Fine, but you don't get a seat at the table. Wm.-375815 is absolutely correct. We need to stop interviewing people who ought to be in padded cells. We ought to stop giving air time to people who are abjectly wrong time and time again. We need to stop pretending that there are no wrong answers, and we need to stop letting people who just want to muddy the waters, not solve problem, insert themselves time and time again into the conversation.
You are entitled to your opinions, but not all opinions are created equal. You want to sit there and "defend your beliefs"? Go ahead. But we can't make public policy decisions, or any decision for that matter, based on lala land nonsense.
Michelle, someone with an IQ like you claim would know that a statement like that would backfire on them. While both parties have ties to lobbyists, the Republicans can in no way claim the high ground where lobbyists are concerned. I'm not saying politicians should in any way turn their backs on God, there just isn't room for him on the floors of Congress.
justic4u, maybe you should look at all the outright lies, distortions and hatred spewed by the reich-wing nutjobs like santorum, Limbaugh, Beck, Hannity, Coulter, etc. etc.
the reich-wing is doing FAR more to destroy civility in American discourse than most of the left is. and hey don't even bother with actual facts, they just make spit up and throw it out there and claim its "proof" of whatever nuttery they want, and willing sheeple like you just gobble it up.
STLMIke...Rick Santorum is considered psychotic to most of the civilized world because when his wife miscarried, he not only forced his living children to hug and kiss the underdeveloped fetus, but then he and his wife slept with it.
If you wish to worship and defend anything that this sick, abusive whack-job would call "god", be my guest...but, at least, know what you are worshiping.
No Mike...there are plenty of people I disagree with. I think it's because he is batsh!t crazy.
TO: Justis4U who wrote:
Wow! I just thought it was "hate speech" coming from Republicans, but it's really "lunacy".
I can see that.
TO: Justis4U who wrote:
Right, I don't like Republican hate speech anymore than the next person, but here in the United States we have this thing called "freedom of speech" and the law says that people have a right to speak their mind, whether you like it or not.
As for all this religious-speak at a political rally, well we have something else here in the United States called "freedom of religion" which is written into our Constitution and cannot be forced upon anyone, by anybody.
Laws have already been written that would prohibit batschitcrazy Republicans from making religion a matter to be legislated by the Federal Government and forced upon the American People.
It seems with the coming of CPAC also came every nut case from the insane right wing in America. As I viewed today’s news it felt like a group of reporters went to the local insane asylum and wrote down all the irrational ravings of every ‘guest’ in the place. From LaPierre to Santorum the paranoia, lies and just plain insanity poured freely into the real world like a cancer invading a defenseless host. For example, Rick Santorum what a piece of work this guy is, this brain dead loser says: “Obama wants a Godless America” give me a break. Obama doesn’t want a “Godless America” he just doesn’t want America turned into an Iran style theocracy by jerks like Pope Ricky the 1st.
Let’s not forget our pal Mitt Romney [even if we all want to] at CPAC good old Mitt said “Learn from my mistakes”. Come on Mitt your mistake was running for the presidency in the first place. To be an American President you MUST be a real American and Mitt you just don’t pass that test. First: your worship of money over the well being of average Americans automatically disqualifies you for the job. Second: caring more about ways to wiggle out of paying ANY taxes at ANY cost also disqualifies you for the job. Third: referring to forty seven percent of Americas citizens as takers and moochers not only disqualifies for the job as President it also makes most of hate your gold plated guts………. Just go away Mitt we never want to hear or see you again and take your selfish, greedy and totally insane CPAC pals with you.
I just wonder if Santorum, being the religious man he is, in the event that prayer is allowed in school again, would he support the right to religious freedom to children of the Jewish, Hindu, or, Muslim faiths?
Just a thought, since Mittens was mentioned, didn't mitt's dad run for President? If my history books haven't been rewritten by the righties, wasn't his dad born in Mexico?
All this to-do about a God or no God. I find it so much easier going through life (I'm 82 years old now) believing that there was and is a God as I have been taught. A God who loves us all and who prepares a place for us after worldly death. If we live our life as he has instructed us he has promised that we will live in peace and happiness after that worldly death. If we stray from that path he has laid for us, but in the end we ask forgiveness we WILL be permitted to live in His heaven for eternity.
I believe my earthly life is easier for me if I believe in these promises. If they do not come to pass, what have I lost by following these paths. I have lost nothing of value here on earth and I have lived with love and peace while I was on this earth, always knowing (believing) in what I had to look forward to after death.
What does a non-believer have to look forward to after his time is up? NOTHING.. I pity him. He has lost very much. It was always there for him to take but he just ignored it. Too bad.
But, you know... I think God will still eventually take him into heaven If he asks for it. For our God is a forgiving God. And it costs absolutely nothing to be believer and if it is true that person has so very much to gain for his belief.
Why would anybody refuse to believe it there is so much to gain for eternity. And, if it is not true, what has one lost because he has believed?
'Nuff said. May God Bless each and every one of you, even if you don't believe in Him
CPAC excluded Governor Christie because he wasn't conservative enough for them. It is ok for Rubio to make sure he takes money from the northeast to rebuild Florida after every devastating storm. But, Christie had the nerve to expect money from the pot for his state when it was devastated by Sandy. How unconservative of him. I'm hoping the NJ, NY, PA, CT, DE, etc congressional delegations will all earn their conservative rankings this summer when the south gets slammed with hurricanes. The next CPAC should then be without Rubio and all the other southern republicans who were crying for help from the government.
Shocked and disgusted
A left wing media personality was shamed into appologizing for this inaccurate account of what the Santorums actually did.
Why do you repeat it as truth?
Did you know that if they did not take the baby - and it did live for a few hours outside the womb, the hospital would have simply discarded the body as medical waste?
My decease brother also had a premature child die. Back then, because the child was born alive, it had to go through a funeral home for a proper barrier. And yes when the child died, they held him and let any kids they had hold them. It is something called the "grieving process".
Making something evil of this process is simply how low the left wing is willing to go to score a political point. People like that should be kicked out of office without a pension!
Frothy fuc ked up last time he opened his worthless mouth. He's the personification of an ABSOLUTE IDIOT 9and acts the part) - the trouble with having him even CLOSE to running is that the DEM voters would stay home and produce the reverse equivalent of the "Dewey victory" - and that would be due to APATHY. Let the worthless bastard BABBLE - the intelligent electorate KNOW how much he's worth (less that a PLUGGED NICKEL) needless to say, I don't support the worthless SOB and i doubt that he would even make a satisfactory GARBAGE COLLECTOR
The American way is to allow the insane their freedom. Santorum may freely exercise his First Amendment rights.
But what you really have to ask yourself is why are people sending this whacko their hard-earned money?
You have to wonder who is insane and who is a shyster who preys upon the weak-minded.
Someone once said, "Nothing fires the zeal of a fanatic more than the belief that his goverment will back him in his exploits."
Rick Santorum is backed by Tea Party zealots who suffer from third-degree tunnel vision.
CPAC = Criminal Predators Against Christ.
Santorum: Obama wants 'Godless' America; passion is on the left
Voters: We want a 'Santorum-less' America; insanity is on the right
Santorum is a freak.
this from the party of compassion...
Uh, no, it's from J. Willard Marriott.
point taken... touche'
Well it's extremely difficult to have compassion for these people with all the garbage they spew. How you love to play self righteous while you gun down the masses.
I would say he is somewhat a freak and well hated by the Majority of the State of PA of which I am a lifelong resident. He was as close as being tar and feathered as one can be in these days when he was ousted from the Senate.
I personally would not want this nutjob making any decision for anyone. No comparing this to Menedez. But if you still wish to, consider that Santorum didn't live in PA and lied about his residency here while representing and screwing over the State of PA.
To show how much of a freak he is, who in these days we live in would do the following? If it was my wife and me or any other couple, they would have arrested us:
Apparently, "lil michelle" thinks it is perfectly normal and well adjusted to force children to hug and kiss a partially formed, miscarried fetus. Are you sad that you couldn't snuggle up to it, too, "lil michelle"?

Bring the Federlist party
The whole story is that they had a choice to save the cost of a formal funeral. This is done all the time in PA. BTW often pre-mature babies that go to the morgue are disposed of as medical waste.
Get the whole story, not the left win mantra!
sure - now tell me - WHO ELSE WOULD HAVE BEEN SO STUPID? it's referred to as a "FROTHY SANTORISM"
I am hoping a true Pastafarian will run. May the Flying Spaghetti Monster touch you with His Noodly Appendage.
(Apologies in advance for this rant) Mr. Santorum, you are a lying piece of fecal matter who's only REAL desire is to impose your radical values on people and crush any sense of individualism or personal liberty under your sanctimonious heel or ass (I'm not sure which). You have NO interest and place NO value on the ideals of our forefathers and their intent or implementation of the Constitution. You want what you want and screw anyone who disagrees with you or supports separation of Church and State. You sir, are a bigot and misogynist.
The gospel according to Matthew - perfectly correct, in my opinion.
Santorum is wacko. He thinks people in Europe have to wear bracelets to avoid being euthanized in hospitals. He has no right to make these false accusations, and just reinforces the idea that the GOP is a bunch of wacko know-nothings.
funny how we have Menendez story going around, but the "wacko" in Washington is Santorum? I'm trying to remember the last time a politician was arrested/jailed for theology.
Please go back to Faux news and stop trolling Michelle.
You win Lil Michelle! They hit you with nothingness!!
Michelle, I don't know about any recent, but Joseph Smith, the founder of the Mormon Church was jailed, then shot and killed by an angry mob. He was no innocent, but neither were his enemies. Religion sure does strange things to people's minds.
At the time of his death, Smith was Mayor of Nauvoo Illinois, and was in jail in Carthage Illinois on charges of destroying a newspaper office for posting articles claiming he was practicing polygamy and was trying to set himself up as a theological king. In fact, he was running for President of the United States at the time. His brother Hiram was killed along with him.
Lil Michelle, please check your history on Santorum. Not that I am a fan of Menedez and if he is guilty of his abuse while in office he should get what he deserves. But Santorum has done quite a few actions that make what Menedez allegedly had done not even worth comparing.
Santorum’s ethics issues stem from the manner in which he funded his children’s education and his misuse of legislative position in exchange for contributions to his political action committee and his re-election campaign is just one item that should have landed this frothty mix in jail!
In 2006 Santorum (R-PA) violated the Senate Gift Rule by accepting a mortgage from The Philadelphia Trust Company, a bank that serves affluent clients.” Or what about when Santorum’s former staffers for set up a lobbying office in the same building as Santorum’s offices....hmmm, that seems unethical and corrupt?
One could spend an entire day slamming him on his lack of Ethics and contradictions through his career.
Actually, I am convinced that "lil michelle" knows every detail of Rick Santorum's "career" and the disgusting behavior against his family.
It can not be any more obvious that "lil michelle" admires this kind of behavior and wishes that she could have been a part of it.
Thank you, "lil michelle" for finally exposing what you really are. Those of us that laugh at your usual idiotic ramblings now know that you willfully support the mentally unbalanced because, in them, you find kinship.

So President Obama wants $2 Billion dollars for new Automotive Technologies - Read Green Cars?
Is it so he can blow it on more companies like Fisker Automotive?
I've been telling you folks for a year this company was through. Now the Founder Henrik Fisker is taking the money and getting out. $200 Million of our taxpayer money went to this loser. Only the Solyndra scandal stopped us from giving him another $300 Million.
Fisker's leaving spells certain demise for the company. They haven't built a car since last summer.
See his cars had a little problem. They blowed up for no good reason.
Sure Mr. President, Keep up the good work.
http://www.usatoday.com/story/money/cars/driveon/2013/03/13/henrik-fisker-geely-china-electric-car/1985001/
So what does your comment have to do with the subject matter?
Absolutely nothing. Just like most of the Libbies comments at First Read.
WCA -
Thanks for the random thread, straight out of nowhere.
Do you even know where the Fiskar money went? It was a LOAN to pay for engineering and design services in Delaware (which last time I checked was right here in the good ol' US of A.)
Don't believe me? Check the facts, or maybe just PolitiFact:
Sorry Vol, here are the facts.
The money was suppose to go towards a car called the Nina to be built in Delaware. But lagging sales of the Karma, being built in Finland forced Fisker to spend the money trying to fix production problems. (Like I said, the cars tended to blow up).
So the Delaware plant was abandoned and Delaware was stuck with Millions they gave Fisker along with the Fed Money.
The car was a failure from day one. I have many friends that went out to California to give this new Green Car company a shot. They have all come back to Michigan. Having learned their lesson.
If Fisker and his buddy hadn't been big Obama Donors, they never would have gotten this "Loan".
Tell you what Vol. How about you stop posting here until Fisker pays back the money and as soon as they pay it back, I'll go away forever.
You know nothing about this story or the company. You would do well to keep quiet rather than posting year old stories.
The money spent flying the POTUS over to this "campaign speech" would have kept the WH tours open for 10 months...
I can't help being astonished at how highly Santorum glorifys himself and the right wing conservatives-the holy rollers. That is just how the taliban see themselves. They are right and everyone else wrong, but they DO have God in their pocket. How about a little crusade, Santorum?- so your pals can get rich while our citizens spill blood? He's a wolf trying to dress himself in sheeps clothing. He is also a racist, IMO.
Well I see Katherine M. has had an overdose of kool-aid.
I read. I listen. And who in the heck would come up with a "talk to the Hand" as a handle? Sounds like you are a dead end.
Nope, just talk to the hand cause the ears don't need to hear it (it being the continual BS and pure sheepish behavior of people like you with no vision outside the Obama box).
Talk to the Hand
Talk to the hand because there's nothing between the ears.
Michelle, if the POTUS was never allowed to campaign for reelection, there would never be a second term president, of either party. If you're all that upset of the obscene money spent on campaigns, try to protest for sensible campaign finance reform. If superpacs and other organizations weren't allowed to dump literally billions of dollars into campaign funds maybe we could get the spending under control
So White Collar Auto are you under the impression that GB never gave money to big donors? You people need to wake up. Both parties do the same things. They are beholding to the $$ that can finance their campaigns and put them in power both parties are bought and paid for by the men behind the curtains.
Both parties are getting ready for civil unrest, both parties are taking away our rights. Both parties work for the "men behind the curtain" Both parties work for corporations, corporations work for the banking cartels.
You all are being controlled and divided for a reason. Wake up before its too late.

WCA, If Fisker and his buddy weren't big Obama Donors. Could that be anything like Cheney and Halliburton? I wouldn't be spreading a bunch of sh!t if I had a mouthful of it myself.
Houston, do us a favor...go kill yourself!
'Nuff said. May God Bless each and every one of you, even if you don't believe in Him
The constant faulting of Obama is a distraction from reality. Lets instead look at the stupidity of Ryan’s budget, with his repeated presentation of what has already been considered inadequate and unacceptable, or we can look at the arrogance of Cantor who fails to be sincere, or at the stubbornness of Boehner as he refuses to be genuine, or at the antics of Bachmann, or the insincerity of McConnell, or the demonstrative efforts of McCain and Graham, or ... on and on with showmanship always offered to support “the money” instead of honest, responsible representation of the people.
Cutting the deficit and taxes are good objectives but they didn’t cause our problems and focusing there is an effort to distract from their seeking a return to “more of the same”, Bush-Cheney style, which can only result in “more of the same”. Exploitation by the few, allowed by permissive policies (“puppet” politicians), encouraging run-away greed, gross dishonesty and self-indulgence, resulting in repeated crisis in savings-and-loans, banks, dot.coms, the financial, mortgage and investment industries, including corporate corruption (like Enron) and costly industrywide failures requiring government intervention, always with the few walking away with substantial gains and leaving the losses to the majority, are what consistently caused our problems. Continuing to ignore reality is just ludicrous.
There has been so much aggressive manipulation going on, supported by the power, influence and mega-millions of “the money”, as seen in efforts like the manipulation of the “conservative” Christian, the Swift-boat propaganda and the Tea Party movement, initiated, funded and directed by the Koch brothers and self-serving others. Those like Norquist, Cheney, Rove and others work diligently to coerce and intimidate their own, seeking to squelch individual consciences and assure unity behind “the money’s” interests. No where in any of it is there any conscience or concern for the people, the middle-class, only a concentration on serving “the money”, on providing for the continuous feeding of their insatiable “more” (never enough) appetite while the majority just looses more. It isn’t hard to see as the actions and results are all there; all that is stated here is totally obvious, only needing a rational and objective viewing when rejecting the propaganda and putting biases, prejudices, emotions and misplaced loyalties aside. It is up to the people, the voters to either accept “more of the same” or reject all of it and demand a return of the Grande Ole Party with a sincere and conscientious interest in serving the people.
You are quick to point out what you don't like about Ryans budget. Where is the proposed budget from our lazy president.
You are right.... Continuing to ignore reality is just ludicrous... Thats sound advice to both sides
Scott just proved RGiles' point. Amazing.
Santorum: what a dipwad.
He continues to validate the "Santorum" internet search results.
Groan.
Mr. Santorum:
If you lived up to your Christian ideals, like treating people the way you wish to be treated, or stopped lying (false witness) once in a while, sane people might listen to you.
No Sir, he doesn't want a Godless America, he wants a sane GOP.
Don't we all?
Well, I can see that Rickyboy has done one good thing. He made sure Michelle Bachmann will have help driving the clown car.
Is CPAC a gathering of crazies? I am just asking.
Yep!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!~!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They have been tooting to much on "C" Street. Brains fry on that stuff.
Yeah, pretty much.
Maybe somebody should give North Korea the coordinates for the CPAC gathering!! LOL
Just think - the resultant average I.Q. of our Beloved Nation would be increased by several points and it would go a long way toward helping to eradicate the epidemic of Mental Illness that has overtaken and crippled the once-proud (but, unfortunately no longer proud) Republican Party.
Santorum (I still have to chuckle when I Google his name for entertainment) is merely trying to "out-crazy" Rush Limbaugh's public display of his drug addiction during his out-of-control rant at the 2009 CPAC.
If Rush had displayed his spittle-slinging, bouncy rant anywhere but at CPAC, he would have been "rubber-roomed" for 72 hours of observation - Think about it.
Lazerfox - Simple, single word answer to your question - YES.

By definition, median IQ is 100. It means half of the population has IQ under 100 in any time.

The Tea Party types are a lot more like the leaders of the French Revolution than the American Revolution. Like Robes Pierre, they consider ideological impurity an unforgivable sin, with Chris Christie being the latest in a long line of unforgiven sinners, following the ouster of conservatives like former Sen. Richard Lugar of Indiana and others who deviated from the orthodoxy. Fortunately, the Tea Partiers can only primary their victims. They can't use guillotines like Robes Pierre did, but with the Tea Party's enthusiasm for capitol punishment, you never know what they might do, comes the revolution.
Blah blah. Santorum has never been a Tea Party favorite...he is a hateful big government social conservative who has distorted Jesus' teachings to assume that he can hate his neighbor.

Maybe not with all, but with quite a few, like the ones mentioned here:

Especially with the backing of the NRA.
Mr. Santorum:
I am a Republican and a Christian, yet I implore you to shut up. While Marco Rubio, Paul Ryan, Rand Paul, Jeff Flake, Kelly Ayotte, Ben Carson, Scott Walker, and others continue the revitalization of the GOP, people like you, Akin, Mourdock, and Arpaio seem intent on giving NBC and other left-leaning news outlets the red meat they desire. Your views are out of touch with reality in most cases and your communication of your views is even more out of touch. We need less of your kind and more of the new GOP.
Best,
BrentAZ
Psst. Hey Brent. You're being duped.
Those people you listed as as the so-called new GOP are just about as RWNJ and Tea Party as it gets. They're just trying harder to stay electable so you'll buy it..
Don't be duped.
Brent I too am a Republican and a Christian. I implore you to look at what you have asked Mr. Santorum to do:
More of the new GOP? You are walking right into the hands of the Dem/lib/liv/progressive agenda. They want the GOP to change so that no matter who wins, their agenda isn't far behind. That is exactly what they want us to do. While I agree he needs to take a couple of steps back, if you are a true conservative (read Republican) the core principles must remain. It just needs a new cover with a little better worded synopsis.
" You are walking right into the hands of the Dem/lib/liv/progressive agenda. They want the GOP to change so that no matter who wins, their agenda isn't far behind. That is exactly what they want us to do."
One thing about republicans, you do entertain conspiracy theorys. The more to the right you get, the more you believe the conspiracy.
Katherine - you wanna stop humping my leg now and go on to some one else please? Thanks.
Brent
Well said and you are right on!
So what's your plan if the rest of the country still doesn't buy into it?
Let them see the reap for what they sew. That may be long after I am gone but my son, my daughters and my grandchildren will have to put up with the consequences and I don't like leaving with the thought I didn't do all that I could to help them not have to pay for the sins of the sheep that had a seemingly "high ground" view for the people that didn't know what they were getting themselves into by "making history" and electing a silver tongued moron with no experience in real life let alone politics (read community organizer) to destroy the things that their predecessors fought, lived, died and believed in.
I say let the dems and Obama have their way. Right now. Let them have all they want and watch where we end up. It isn't going to be the Utopia that all you liberal/progressives think it is going to be. Eventually, it will affect you and your perceived "sheltered life because that's the way it should be" ideology.
Talk to the Hand: What changes in policy have the Democrats inflicted upon America? What in the world are you talking about?
I've noticed that those on the right, like Talk to the Hand, seem to put far more emphasis on party and agenda than the rest of us do. I think it's because people that like order and authority tend to be more conservative, by definition. Just for the record, most of us that voted for Obama aren't really looking for some kind of wild socialist utoptia. Really we just want leaders that are pragmatic and reasonable. There are plenty of things about Obama's administration that I don't like, but he was still a much better choice than Romney and his my-way-or-the-highway attitude.
What it comes down to is that there's two types of people - those that need authority, and those that question authority.
A Republican & a Christian? You can't be a real Christian and be Republican. Be careful supporting those Conservative anti social, anti human values. Christ has a special place for those who refuse to help the least among us ....as a Republican you will be going there and it's pretty hot but you won't need sun tan lotion.
That's OK Katherine, you can come hump on my leg, after all us Democrats ARE the party of inclusion. Didn't mean any offense, just a dig at hand job.
Katherine - TTTH sure displays some fine 'Christian' values, doesn't he/she/it? Now, back to that Godless agenda Santoum believes has been drafted by those evil liberals.
I sympathize with you. I was a Republican for 30 years and one day realized that the party was no longer the Republican party I once knew and believed in. It has been completely taken over by a cancer called ignorance. I changed my registration to Independent. I feel much better now that I can still be moderate to conservative without being stupid. Try it, you'll feel and smell better once you get rid of the slime like Santorium.
Even if Santorum ended up being the Republican nominee last year, he still would have failed. There were many of his comments that struck a lot of people on both sides, and the middle (such as myself), wrong. He focused solely on social issues. Americans care to know about all sides of what would be done to fix things on all levels, not just one. I don't foresee Santorum surviving the presidential run again. He's too focused on religion and blurs the line of separation between church and state. Santorum becoming president scares me more than the other candidates from the recent campaign and the new one for 2016.
Nothing but crap has come out of Santorum's mouth ever since he ran for President. If he dosen't know the facts he makes something up and it's usually totally wrong. Obama believes in God just as much as he does except that Obama's God dosen't let him lie like Santorum's God does.
One froth short of a latte.
Did Santorum bring any dead babies to CPAC?
Add this to Sarah Palin's book about the War on Christmas and what you have are zealots with very little understanding for both what the Constitution actually says about religion and why it does.
Do these people really have so little understanding for history, that they fail to understand our Founding Fathers really DID intend for religion to have NO place in our government. That they were tired of generation after generation being rousted from their homes in the middle of the night, tortured and often killed, their property stolen, all in the name of the most current religion of the day?
If I were a Muslim or a Buddhist or even an Atheist and walked into some Alabama or Texas courtroom and saw the Ten Commandments posted, I don't believe I would be faulted for believing I would get no justice there because my religion is obviously different than the one representing the courtroom I am walking into.
And if I were a child of something other than the overzealous fundamental Christians of today, I don't believe I would be faulted for believing that I will be bullied and not accepted by my peers for being different than they are when I walk into my school and see some huge picture of Jesus.
This is un-American. If we don't stand up to these self-righteous hypocrites, they will take over the country and you can believe they will take us all back to Middle Age Europe.
That is total crapola.
post of the day
He is insane.
If one were to read this RS speech and then one by an Ayatollah and were not told which was which, you would begin to understand that RS represents the American Taliban.
Santorum= Satanorum= Sanatorium.
Oh you've gone and Googled him again.
71 billion dollars of church exemptions. If you wanna be exempt from paying taxes then keep your religion out of America's politics!!
Best comment on here.
Thanks :)
Just curious what you Democrats who are catholic think about Pope Francis being opposed to gay marriage, abortion, contraception, etc. He sounds pretty orthodox.
That's why they made light of his appointment. Because he is going to be status quo as long as he is Catholic and represents the Catholic Church. What libs don't understand is the Catholic Church doesn't NEED to change. Nor will they. Do you honestly think that devout Catholics are going to reject the Church because they maintain their beliefs? If you do, you might be a self righteous liberal with all the answers.
And how many more ex-Catholics are there these days?
Chris-Fair question. I am a democrat. I taught CCD for 6 years. I am strongly opposed to abortion, but do not believe I have any right to impose that belief upon women. I also feel that bringing children into this world for the wrong reasons is just as big a sin! I am for gay marriage and contraception as I consider the former a modern day civil rights issue, and the latter a comon sense issue. And believe me, there are plenty of republican Catholics that do not agree with every position the Church or the new Pope espouse. From what I see so far, Pope Francis seems to be humble and sincere. Let's see how he tackles the tough issues surrounding the Church.
Talk to The Hand-that was an absolutely ridiculous rant. Do you know what the word "Catholic" means? It means "universal", and loosely translated, "tolerant". That means (GASP!) even we LIBS are allowed! PS, if Jesus was a political figure, what in the world makes you think he would be a modern day conservative republican?
The Catholic Church needs to allow their priests to marry, accept women as priests, and stop the sexual abuse upon their congregation. They also need to accept birth control as a valid form of our daily living that has helped SAVE lives, not create more of them.
Scholera, The new Pope's views are nothing surprising. The Catholic Church is still the same Church it was for many years. But, be forewarned, the new religious right is far more militant and misogynistic than it ever was before. If they are allowed to gain power, they could prove to be even more terrifying than the Taliban or Al Qaeda.
What, WHAT, May god have Mersey on his brain. Looks like they removed it before the autopsy.
The NRA can not lie their way out of faulty ethics, so they just bluff and threaten without any interest in public benefit. They also never argue the real facts of how many family members of gun owners are killed by accident, suicide or murder versus real documented evidence of protection because they know that their arguments would be implausible.
Please show these facts about guns. Put the website where this data exists. Or is this ju
Gary, you see it all the time. Whenever there's an article, you see all kinds of posts, ranging from "Must be a slow news day" "Why don't they ever tell about the lives saved by a gun owner". The truth is, I see many more stories about citizens abusing self defense. Killing a person after he's been disarmed and neutralized is murder. If you kill an intruder in a shootout is one thing, but if you wound him, then walk up and put a bullet in his head, you committed murder.
