It was split personality Thursday at the first day of the Conservative Political Action Conference, where panelists who favored immigration reform shared the same stage with conservatives who continued to question the Obama administration's explanation for Benghazi.
The conservative movement's reformists got their time in the spotlight, but so did figures who continue to hew to Republican orthodoxy — a display of the identity crisis that has plagued the GOP following successive losses in two presidential elections.
Take, for instance, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio's speech early this afternoon, in which he said conservative principles "still work."
"Our challenge is to create an agenda," he said, "applying our time-tested principles to the challenges of today."
The speaker immediately following him, Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul (who, like Rubio, is thought of as a contender for the GOP presidential nomination in 2016), struck a different note.
He told conference attendees that "the GOP of old has grown stale and moss-covered," suggesting that the party was ripe for re-invention. (It's new direction, Paul said, involved "going forward to the classical and timeless ideas.")
Nonetheless, their speeches were symptomatic of the identity crisis from which the conservative movement is currently suffering.
The same conference that hosted a panel on offering undocumented immigrants a pathway to citizenship — regarded as a politically forward-thinking proposal for Republicans — featured another rehashing the Sept. 11, 2012 attacks on a U.S. diplomatic post in Libya, dwelling on conspiracy theories about the Obama administration's response to those attacks.
The CPAC scene was no less full of its knocks on the media, or vendors peddling radio shows or magazines for conference attendees.
The first day of CPAC saw a movement being beckoned toward the future, but with its heels dragging firmly in the past.

Our future is FORWARD ... whoops can't go there, its Libtardlaland ... BACWARDS!!!
Let's go back in time...the bad old days of bigotry
But...PALIN gonna be there! You know- glasses! 'ewe betcha'. 'All of 'em (publications she reads)'. 'Palin' around with humans' (oops- I may have that last one wrong somehow..). ' I can see the ceiling from my floor' (oops agian..sorry).
But serriously- what a bunch of completely stupid sh!ts. Anyone remember who all was on the podium last time? Anyone remember where they all wound up?
Shoot. Anyone CARE??
Sure, let's go back to the "Good Old Days" that the modern-day GOP seems to pine for.
When White men were men, and everyone else was scared.
"Let's go back in time...the bad old days of bigotry"
Uh.....did you miss spell that last word, by using a 'b' when you meant to use a 'p'?
Just skidding, of course.
See the guy in my Avatar? That there is a pincher. No, not a Doberman pincher, a LOAF-Pincher! And I 'skidded' on one just this morning. Made me think of the person in my above post, somehow......
I probably should turn on the news, and see what dumb-sh!t thing the conservatives did today. I can always tell when either they did something stupid, or when our President did something good, when Hannity goes on and on and on about stupid, irrelevant sh!t like "they are keeping kids from touring the White House!". Today was one of those days.
A news story said of the hour-long meeting today "both sides agreed it was a pretty good meeting". Ghomert said 'not so much'.
Guess which person Hannity had on the radio show this afternoon????
"liberal" media? Really??
No comment needed here. Just sit back and have a laugh :)
What's Paul talking about?
Forward to the......Repeal of Civil Rights, Repeal of ObamaCare, Repeal of Voting Rights, Repeal of Womens' Voting Rights, Repeal of Roe v Wade,...and while we're at it let's Repeal that Emancipation thingy........
We will have taken OUR Country Back!......Forward to the Past!
Rand Paul is an idiot!
The Only CPAC Thread missing from 1st Read today is How many Rolls of Toilet paper were stolen!
How many is this today, 7-8?
Good Lord !
This story should be retitled "GOP split between past and REALLY past."
Notice who was NOT invited to CPAC --- Chris Christi.
Oh no CEPAC, you don't want Christi there. You don't want a Republican with a 70% approval rating in a solid blue state. You don't want somebody who appeals to Reagan Democrats and independents. You don't want somebody who can actually WIN AN ELECTION. You would rather stick with LOSERS like Mitt Romney, Sarah Palin, Michelle Bachmann and Rick Santorum.
I've learned something about Teapublicans ---it's NOT about results, it's NOT about actual accomplishments --- it's about WORDS. You have to SAY the right things and that's all you have to do. Combine that with the fact that Teapublicans would rather whine than win and you have a political party that's dying.
It was split personality Thursday
Oh, Crap! I missed Mitt Romney!
Yet more evidence that the future of the Conservative Movement lies in the wilderness. Now they're arguing about which tiny segment of the radical fringe to fight over. In the process they're going to continue making themselves less and less relevant to more and more people.
It's the inevitable end came of a strategy that started clear back in the Reagan years and accelerated like a Top Fuel dragster during the GW Bush years.
[Notice who was NOT invited to CPAC --- Chris Christi.]
It could just be that maybe, just maybe, Christie WAS invited to this "conservative" circle jerk and turned them down? I can see 'ol Twinkle-toes shoving that invite right up CPAC's ass.
It wouldn't surprise me in the least if Christie changes his party affiliation and runs as an Independent, or even a Democrat, after the way his own Party treated him.
Twinkle -toes? LOL
Yes, Mickey, I've had that thought myself that Christie was invited but turned them down and the CPAC folks felt further spurned so behaved as if he hadn't been invited at all. I doubt the "Twinkle-toes" is losing any sleep over it.
Everyone questions what happened at Benghazi. Some are just more vocal than others.
Conservatism is becoming sexy. Far better than Graham in a bikini.
but, but.....All the squawking from the right-wing about the kids being 'indoctrinated' by the marxist, socialist, left-wing, un-American, communist, kenyan when President Obama wanted to give the back to school speech.
They pulled their kids out of school that day.....railed against school administrators, etc.
Now, they complain about 'keeping kids from touring the White House'.......Guess they forgot President Obama lives there.........
PERFECT DESCRIPTION of CPAC . . .
From Steve Schmit, now an MSNBC consultant, formerly an adviser to the McCain Palin campaign:
"This CPAC conference is increasing like the Star Wars bar scene of the conservative movement, I mean, all that's missing is a couple of Wookies"!!!!
TOOOO funny (but soooo accurate!)
Meanwhile, we Progressives are NOT confused . . . we are moving . . .
.
FORWARD! :-)
[Conservatism is becoming sexy.]
Uh no...conservatism is a mental illness.
What is it with the conservatives? They want action for Benghazi but they won't take action for Newtown. Conservatives want action to verify voter registration/ID's but don't want action to verify deranged/demented/psyco/sick in the head gun purchasers. I mean one day deficits don't matter, then after Obama get's elected deficits are everything!?
What the heck does "time tested" mean? Unfunded wars? Unfunded nation building? Socializing losses of Wall Street and banks for outrageously bad greed based behavior? Destroying the housing market with predatory lending and unregulated financial institutions? Unfunded socialized Medicare Part D? Out of control health care cost? Doubling the size of government? Reducing the American standard of living? Providing welfare and subsidies to the corporate world and big oil? That they're job creators overseas but not in America? Attempting to effect a fascist government?
The conservatives sure can sweet talk that snake oil but their record exposes them for what they truly stand for. Where are the jobs they promised in 2010? Conservative won't re-brand themselves, they'll just package it a lot nicer hoping you'll buy it.
Nothing screams "sexy" like an aspirin between a women's knees & a iron chastity belt!
Talk about industrial strength STUPID!
"Obey Me", says Lord Grover of Norquist, "or thou shalt be destroyed in primaries. "
"Non conservative thought will not be tolerated."
"The government must be torn down and dismantled, until it can be drowned in a bathtub."
"The 1 % must rule by My Divine right."
[Conservative won't re-brand themselves, they'll just package it a lot nicer hoping you'll buy it.]
Just like a box of my favorite cereal...NEW and IMPROVED! they say...sure the new graphics are great, but there's also 30% LESS IN THE 'EFFING PACKAGE!
...and it costs more...
Conservatism is becoming sexy.
First of all, "Clean up on aisle one!"
Secondly, I had originally given BCWC the "hands down funniest comment of the day", but this comment is not only funny it is downright creepy. Conservatism and sexy do not in any way, shape or form belong in the same sentence, not to mention "sexy" as a descriptive of Conservatism? Stale and frigid, yes. Sexy? Nooooo.
But, thank you so much for a laugh that literally did cause a spray of water to my screen!
" Stale and frigid, yes. Sexy? Nooooo."
Larry Craig may be wanting a 2nd opinion on this one.....
Hey- not sure why this floated to the top of my old, decrepit mind, but- how many posters remember Anita Bryant? Every bit as sexy as that door knob from Wasilla, I tells ya!
If Rubio is telling the base that "conservative principals still work," he is still busy convincing himself that they do. Face it Marco, you know better.
Ah yes, Rick, Rand and Rubio... The Three Stooges of American Politics. Did you ever notice that the Three Stooges (the actors on film) always thought, individually, they were the smart ones and everyone else was dumb and/or strange? RR&R are really playing this out perfectly.
and no doubt the pervs probably think that vaginal probes are toys.
Conservatism itself is not a problem, the problem is today's RWNJs and their version of conservatism - these RWNJs don't practice conservatism, more like grenade-throwing extremism.
A Republican Tea Party is like trusting a rattle snake ready to strike at anytime! Their message is nothing but poison to the American people! The sinking ship of the SOS Party of Stupid is going under fast and in 2014 will no longer be a float! Thank God they have such stupid people in their line up so all American's can see what real bunch or loser's they really are! Palin, Ryan was cloned from a a$$hole!
Republicans have been stuck in the past. As far as the future, with their insistance on sticking on sticking with the past, they have no future. I still see a party split. That would suit them and would certainly suit progressives.
Regarding the past, regressives fail to remember one thing. The good old days were terrible! Jim Crowe ruled the roost. Republicans are depending on their base, basically senior white men, to live forever. Good luck with that GOP. I belong to that group, and I surely know better!
In typical teabully fashion they would've have chanted in unison "fatty fatty two by four, can't get through the kitchen door" had he decided to attend. You don't offer and olive branch to the hated Obama and expect a laurel and hardy handshake from this bunch.
What do you call the Tea Party Members with half of a brain? Gifted!
Teapartyville is missing its village genius.
American Conservative Union chairman Al Cardenas spoke briefly with reporters ahead of the beginning of the CPAC conference -- explaining why he didn't invite New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and insisting that the GOP is "not a home for everybody."
Cardenas also repeated explanations for why the conference hadn't invited New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie to speak at the event.
http://firstread.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/03/14/17311838-cpac-chair-christie-didnt-deserve-an-invite-this-year?lite
CPAC is a meeting of the GOP great minds, both of them.
bipolar?
@Pig,
Schizophrenic. Homophobic. Xenophobic.
Ad nauseum... and out of touch with a progressing America.
Split between past and even older past, more like it...
torn between their past policy failure and their future policy failures, no less.
The GOP sure does provide some of the best comedy, don't they? It's almost too easy, like Sister Sarah.
Hey, AlaskaGirl-759554 (#2.4)
the other AlaskaGirl? Your sis? Oh, boy!
or your evil twin? I know this AlaskaGirl-759554 is one of our best friend here - the good twin.
Shame on you, miss piglet! You should know better than to think I would consort with someone like "that woman"! Besides, we can't be twins of any sort.....my eyes are beautiful blue, while "that woman's" eyes look like the eyes of a shark.......a shark with glasses! LOL
She had the nickname Barracuda!
hey, chilled
so, former NBA star Glen Rice had a fish for his girl friend (Sarah, that is)?
I do recall something of that nature, Pig......Yup......
wow, Glen Rice slept with Sarah? Why? Why a Barracuda? Why a fish as girlfriend?
How does that make Todd Akin Palin feel? Todd Akin Palin married a fish - the feeling can be fishy. Yuck.
It's the teeth, Pig.....It's all those sharp teeth coupled with the Barracudas' abiity to evade the hook!...
Poor First Dude, Todd, he had/has no say in the matter, not only is the feeling fishy, so is the smell!
I'm torn between watching the CPAC stuff and One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. One is just like the other, from what I can tell. The common theme - Crazy people doing what crazy people tell them to do.
Why is the Tea Party so stupid? Their born that way!
Well, one features a group of insane and mentally deficient men trying to make sense of their world. The other features Jack Nicholson...
A house divided shall fall---------YEA , Republicans headed for the sewer.......
True enough, vet, but we need two functional political parties for our government to actually work. When we had a center-left versus a center-right party, we managed to do a great deal; now that we have a dead-on-center party versus a right-wing-lunatic party, nothing can get done. What we need is a new center-right party, perhaps founded by people like Christie and the few sane Republicans that are still alive, like, say, Richard Lugar. I wouldn't agree with them on most issues, but at least sanity would prevail...
What does the Tea Party members and dog turds have in common? Everything!
"Nonetheless, their speeches were symptomatic of the identity crisis from which the conservative movement is currently suffering."
CPAC is a disaster, Republicans are fatally split and will suffer the fate of the Whigs...that is the First Read script. Written before the Conference started.
Why not just let Feisty Redhead write the articles, after all, she is about as objective as the MSNBC writers?
"The CPAC scene was no less full of its knocks on the media"....condescendingly says the progressive writer employed by liberal propaganda network MSNBC, who just knocked conservatives as unthinking troglodytes....ironic, aint it.
To the liberal cabal at MSNBC, conservatives are from another planet...
Why don't you just go back to Stormfront where your friends are, hmm?...
You know what CPAC stands for, don't you?
Crazy People Acting Crazier!
why don't you join us here at the year 2013.
I was going to say, like Morlocks
"CPAC is a disaster, Republicans are fatally split and will suffer the fate of the Whigs...that is the First Read script. Written before the Conference started."
And that's exactly right --- the one time great Republican Party -- the party of Lincoln, TR, Ike, and Reagan is going the way of the Whigs of the 19th century and the losers at CEPAC -- the likes of Mitt Romney, Sarah Palin, Rick Santorum, Michelle Bachmann -- are killing it. You cannot win many elections if you insult more than 50% of the voting population. The Republican party is dying. You may not like the truth but that is the truth.
To the liberal cabal at MSNBC, conservatives are from another planet.
I would add in a big chunk of the American population there, sparky.
Why don't you BITE ME, vaginal probe Bobby?
No one cares about a multiple re-regger like YOU who is not even man enough to keep your word...
"....after all, she is about as objective as the MSNBC writers?"
As opposed to, say, the Fox writers?
Hey, dimbulb- next time you want to know if the media is REALLY all 'liberal', ask a RWNJ how they feel about the 'fairness doctrine'. Should be fun. Go ahead- try it.
What does a republican get when he bends over? A CPAC!
WOW Feisty.....Bitch much!!
Drive by.....what's your point? The President doesn't even support the revival of this antiquated law. This law was created when there were a maximum of 3 stations and 1 local newspaper. With the creation of cable and the internet, your limits to your knowledge on issues is only as small and your desire to know. There is no longer a need to have a fairness doctrine, as it is way to easy to find opposing viewpoints.
I was thinking of buying my daughter a Hamster for her birthday -- you know one of those little critters that go round and round in a wheeled cage -- but the more I watched that little critter going round and round yet never going anywheres the more the GOP came to mind -- round & round but never going anywheres -- those poor little critters just keep spinning their wheels -- the pauls , the mccains, the ryans, the bushes, the rubios, the grahams, the cruzes, and the rest of the round & round crowd -- but never going anywhere!
Sorry To The Real Hamsters -- The Cute Furry Little Critters -- But All That Spinning Would Just Make My Little Girl Sick & Tired!
No Cute Here -- Just Rodents When All Is Said And Done!
"the more I watched that little critter going round and round yet never going anywheres the more the GOP came to mind -- round & round but never going anywheres"
What do you call a meeting of the Tea Party members? A total Loss or The Party of Stupid!
Is CPAC being scripted by Democrats?? It must be. How could any political party make themselves look so stupid without a lot of help from the opposition. . It's like -- OK -- we managed to piss off women, young people, Hispanics, blacks, gays, teachers, policemen, firemen, poor people, anyone working for wages, college students, young people across the board and just about every demographic except old white men. We insult people on the East Coast, people in New England, people on the West Coast, and people in big cities. So -- have we missed anyone and if we have --- let's make them angry too. That seems to be the objective of the Republican Party --- make as many people hate us as possible.
Nah...I'm thinking the Onion. Usually you need to go there to read lines as crazy as "Marco Rubio, the RG3 of American politics."
That seems to be the objective of the Republican Party --- make as many people hate us as possible.
I think the hate part is on them. They have a cancerous tumor in the party and until they cut that tumor out, the tumor will grow to malignant status and the party will die a collective death.
What did S. Palin and P. Ryan major in school? Stealing other's lunch money!
See: Rand Paul on Libya in direct response to POTUS on the eve of the intervention in 2011 on youtube.
How right he turned out to be!
President Obama and the neocons? Well if you're into beating and jailing Christians and having US embassies overrun by Islamic extremists... well it worked out okay.
Notice the constitutional themes that supported his filibuster are presaged in the Libya video response and how hewing to the Constitution too would have saved us from the mess in Libya.
Conservatism is a failed regressive ideology that constantly tries to rewrite history or rename themselves in a sad effort to some how reinvent itself...
The Goldwater Republicans ..the Silent Majority ..the Moral Majority ..the Christian Coalition ..the Family Values Voters ..the Tea Party.. the Conservative Victory Project Party
But in reality they have always been and always will be just the same old Convaluted Conservative Contortionist Party
Not so much, Amunaka. There was a time when it was possible to be a conservative and not be a raving lunatic. William Safire promoted same-sex marriage. Jack Kilpatrick was pro-choice on abortion. Barry Goldwater himself once famously declared that Jerry Falwell needed to be kicked in the @ss. Hell, Ronnie Reagan raised taxes seven times (admittedly to correct for the colossal idiocy of his first huge tax cut)! The thing is, none of them would even be considered conservative by today's full-on bull-moose-nuts-crazy RWNJs; they would all fall into the category of RINOs. We need a center-right party as well as a center-left party for our government to be effective, but the current GOP is in fact a right-wing-extremist party, in fact (as someone posted on another thread) more a religious cult than a political party, with the same inflexibility, love of toe-the-line litmus tests, and apocalyptic opinion of their political opponents. Perhaps the Christies and Lugars of the world can create a new center-right party to replace the GOP, because frankly, I think the GOP is too far gone to be saved...
Amunaka.....its not lost that your acronym for the new party name is CCCP....inaccurate....but not lost.
Conjuring Cat....I agree with you that there needs to be moderate left and moderate right in order for government to work.....but you left out the part that there is very few moderate lefts in Washington either. There seems to be a major void of either moderates, as the extremists seem to be hijacking both party platforms.
This is fun, can you tell the difference between CPAC and Comic-Con? Take the quiz at the Houston Chronicle here:
CPAC or Comic Con?
Obey Me", says Lord Grover of Norquist, "or thou shalt be destroyed in primaries. "
"Non conservative thought will not be tolerated."
"The government must be torn down and dismantled, until it can be drowned in a bathtub."
"The 1 % must rule by My Divine right."
Oh, goody, the dinosaurs have gotten together to figure out how to go extinct faster! Meanwhile, America moves forward without them.
Good news day according the left leaning First Read. There was about 7 or 8 articles about the Republicans at CPAC. Why is the left so concerned about what the Republicans do at CPAC? None of you left wingers are going to vote or agree with any of their policies, so why are you wasting so much time?
BTW, when is First Read going to do several threads on the POS Budget Patty Murray put out? Haven't seen nearly as much as on Ryan's Budget proposal. I would like to see a discussion on the Senate Budget for 2014. Oh, and where is the President's Budget Request, appears it's going to be a couple of months late. First time in 92 years that the Congress has presented Budgets prior to the President's Budget Request. I guess you call that "leading from behind".
To..sfcret""""
Then why are you even here ...
that monthly stipend from Karl Rove keeps him in beer and cigarettes.
Because I like to show you left wing nuts just how really stupid you are.
Have a good evening and maybe, just maybe, First Read can have something on the Democrats POS Budget.
"Why is the left so concerned about what the Republicans do at CPAC?"
Two reasons. First -- it's a great comedy show. You seldom get to see so many political losers like Mitt Romney, Sarah Palin, Rick Santorum, Michelle Bachman and Newt Gingrich all on the same stage at the same event. Secondly -- we want the world to see what a collection of clowns now represent the conservative movement in the US.
"Haven't seen nearly as much as on Ryan's Budget proposal."
Well -- it's like this. Paul Ryan has caught the Romney disease -- flip-flop. During the campaign he favored increasing revenue by getting rid of tax loop-holes. Now he's against that. Also in the campaign he was against the cuts to Medicare proposed by President Obama. Now he's for those cuts. And -- they Ryan plan supposedly balances the beget by getting rid of Obama-care -- something they've already tried 37 times and failed each time. Bottom -- the Ryan proposal isn't a budget, it's a political statement and nothing more.
"Because I like to show you left wing nuts just how really stupid you are."
Yep -- those stupid left wingers -- the same stupid people who have kicked conservatives asses in 4 of the last 6 presidential elections and gained seats in the Senate and the House in the last elections. Again --- you Teapublicans would rather whine than win
As Longstreet told Fremantle in Gettysburg, "We'd rather lose the war than admit to the mistake." And lo and behold, the RWNJs are going all neo-Confederate, too...
Charlie.....Lies....Lies.....LIES!!!!
How can you accuse Ryan of being for the medicare cuts that Obama is doing, if he is for making medicare a voucher system? This is more liberal doubletalk and lies. Yes, repealing of ObamaCare has failed 37 times....in the senate....it has passed every time by those rascally elected republicans. So.....what's your point. Its the partyline towing democrats stoping what the 237 elected republicans continue to do?
You may call his budget more of a political statement then a budget, but its more than what has been proposed by the President. In fact, it received more votes than anything the President has offered. His last proposed budget was defeated 99-0 in the Senate.....that means 52 of his democratic brothers didn't like what he was proposing. Keep spouting all those liberal lies.
"How can you accuse Ryan of being for the medicare cuts that Obama is doing, if he is for making medicare a voucher system?"
Pay attention you fool. Try getting some information form someplace other than Fox news. Go the the House web sight or even Ryan's web page and read it yourself.
Yes, repealing of ObamaCare has failed 37 times....in the senate....it has passed every time by those rascally elected republicans. So.....what's your point.
Well guess what Dilbert -- if it fails in the Senate --- IT FAILS. And it's FAILED 37 TIMES. ROLLING OUT A BUDGET PROPOSAL THAT EVERYONE KNOWS HAS no chance OF PASSING is not a serious proposal -- it's a political statement. And guess what --- the Ryan so called budget has not even come to a vote in the Senate. Even republicans want nothing to do with it.
OK....did exactly what you suggested....went to Ryan's web page. Please explain to me where in here he states he is for the $700 billion in cuts to medicare? Please point it out cause this is directly from his site.....otherwise....ease up with the childish name calling and try again....I'll be waiting.
The Entertainment Value is the only why most of us watch CPAC. It is as much a Reality Show as any of them and more fun!
Proves you are really scared or just have nothing to do. I really have a hunch that most of the lefties commenting on CPAC never really watched much if any of it but are just relaying bits and pieces based on others comments.
What does K-mart and the Tea Party have in common? They are both losing!
"I really have a hunch that most of the lefties commenting on CPAC never really watched much if any of it "
"Proves you are really scared"
Sure -- just like we were "scared" of Sarah Palin, "scared" of Michelle Bachmann, "scared" of Rick Perry, "scared" of Newt Gingrich, "scared" of Rick Santorum, 'scared" of Mitt Romney and "scared" of the rest of the losers teapublicans tell us we're 'scared" of.
CPAC is worth watching for its entertainment value. These fools actually think the world CARES about what they think. We are SO OVER their stale ideas!
...but to whom will Mittens give his rose?
Scene taken from last years CPAC conference you didn't see on fox...
http://stream1.gifsoup.com/view7/2912401/whirling-dervishes-o.gif
So when do we close the lid and throw the first handful of dirt on the GOP?
What does Burger King and the Tea Party have in common? BK sell's Whoppers and the TP has Whopper Lies!
As long as the TP disease is allowed to grow, the GOP will continue to lose.
I am a conservative until they tell me the defense budget has to be tripled or asama bin ladens ghost is going to crawl under my bed and haunt me if they don't give them the cash!.
No - the GOP is split between delusional and more delusional.
They never quite got over the earth being round thing or the slavery thing. The evolution thing drove them crazy and women voting had them plucking their eyes out. This isn't conservative, the whole deficit is from lost wars and irresponsible tax cuts. This is simply the trust fund crowd wanting to keep their free ride while they get white trash to vote for them in hopes of keeping the dark folk suppressed (brought in by the trust fund crowd for cheap labor)
Remember WACO? The white trash defended a child molester and ultimately blew up a building in OK. They have been on the way out since 1870 and stupid is finally the minority in America. CPAC gives you an opportunity to see the worst side of America and put a face on it. Good riddance!
Hey CPAC lovers, teatards, birthers, ditto-heads, Fox cultist, Glen Beck worshipers and all around Obama haters don’t forget ---- March Madness starts soon and President Obama will be filling out his brackets. Be sure you whine and cry, bitch and complain, moan and groan and carry on and on about how he’s wasting time and not taking care of the nation --- just like you have, every March, since 2009.
It amazes me how every liberal is supposed to be tolerant and accepting of opposing veiwpoints, yet, Charlie, you just clumped every different type of conservative into one big pile. As a conservative, I am well aware there are opposing viewpoints, even in th democratic party. I know not every liberal is a gay, food stamp receiving athiest minority, who hates the rich, except when they are paying the bill. I don't lump ALL of you into that group.....just the extremist......like you!!!
Oh.....and I fill out a bracket tooo.....unless that makes me a democrat, I wouldn't be able to bear the shame of that title.
"It amazes me how every liberal is supposed to be tolerant and accepting of opposing veiwpoints, yet, Charlie, you just clumped every different type of conservative into one big pile."
No -- I DO NOT clumped every different type of conservative into one big pile. I voted for Reagan - twice. I campaigned for Goldwater back in 1964 even though I was too young to vote at the time. The Republican Party of the 21st century in general and CEPAC in particular is NOT conservative. They are an insult to true conservatives. Real conservatives believe in small government. Today's Republican Party doesn't. Real conservatives believe in individual freedom. Today's Republican Party doesn't. Real conservatives believe in science and logic. Today's Republican Party doesn't. Don't insult such great conservatives as Barry Goldwater, William Buckley, or Ronald Reagan by comparing them to today's Republicans.
Charlie, you are contradicting yourself. How can you be for small government and still be for the democrats....their entire platform is based on the expansion of government both literally, and socially, into your life. You talk about the conservative platform trying to control a woman's life....how about government trying to control how much soda you are allowed to drink? What kind of gun you may own legally? When and where you may pray to your God? Those are all expansions of government into our everyday lives by liberals.
You talk about smaller government, and say today's republicans are not for smaller government.....show me one democrat who is for a smaller government more then even your most ridiculous republican?
Yes, real conservatives believe in individual freedom, please explain to me how today's conservatives infringe on individual freedoms? Please tell me how today's conservatives don't believe in science and logic? Oh....and for the record, I wasn't insulting any conservatives, past or present....you were.
"You talk about the conservative platform trying to control a woman's life.."
Oh no -- telling women what kind of birth control they can use, telling them what kind of medical procedures they must have -- that's not big government it is?? And just who is telling you "when and where you may pray to your God"? It was Republicans blocking the building of a Mosque in New York. Look at these Republican governors in states like Virginia -- the first thing they do is start snooping into the private lives of individuals. And don't forget -- the largest expansion of government since LBJ happened with George Bush in the White House and Republicans controlling both the House and Senate.
The bottom line is Republicans want the government to stay out of the business world but have no problem telling the individual what he can or can't so. As for your soda example -- Bloomberg ran as a Republican.
God save the queen....huh.....what?
Let the decisions be taken in the best interests of the Americans. Benghazi attack may be preplanned in advance. We should see that Benghazi types of attacks are not Repeated. GOD Bless the Americans. GOD BLESS THE USA.
