Off to the races: Hillary on top

Hillary Clinton tops the presidential 2016 field in hypothetical matchups with Chris Christie (45%-37%), Paul Ryan (50-38%), and Marco Rubio (50-34%), according to a Quinnipiac poll. By contrast, Christie would beat Joe Biden (43-40%). Biden, however, beats Rubio (45-38%) and Ryan (45-42%). Andrew Cuomo loses badly to Christie (45-28%), ties Rubio (37%-37%), and loses to Ryan (42-37%).

Stu Rothenberg says Democrats have a chance to pick up governorships in some key states come 2014.

How many times can Newt Gingrich jump the shark? He says he’d be open to being on Donald Trump’s Celebrity Apprentice.

GEORGIA: “One likely candidate called Todd Akin ‘partially right’ about ‘legitimate rape.’ Another said evolution and the Big Bang theory are ‘lies straight from the pit of hell.’ A third accused the Obama administration of practicing ‘shakedown politics’ after BP set aside $20 billion to compensate victims for damage from the Gulf oil spill,” Politico writes. “The Republican primary for the open Senate seat in Georgia is shaping up to be a free-for-all, drawing interest from some of the most conservative members of the House and raising concerns that a race to the right could put in play what should be a safe seat. It comes as the party tries to head off the problem that cost it dearly in 2012: nominating candidates who say things so off-putting to mainstream voters that they blow the election.”

SOUTH CAROLINA: Lindsey Graham doesn’t seem to be sweating a tea party threat? Why? Jill Lawrence notes: “One of the most marked trends in South Carolina politics is the fade of the tea party. Only 5.5 percent of registered voters in the state said they considered themselves tea party members in the Winthrop poll, down from 19.2 percent in October 2010. Back then, about half of registered voters said they agreed with tea party principles. In last month’s poll, only 24.1 percent said they approved of the movement.”

The only way Tea Party governor Paul LePage wins re-election is if Democrats seriously screw up, which knowing my party, could well happen.

LePage has been a "colorful" governor, I'll give him that, and very adroit at taking advantage of rural voters' fears about gun control (really? You think the gov'mt is interested in taking your lousy shotgun?) However, most Mainers have tired of the novelty of partisan bickering in state politics. We'd like to see a return to civil discourse, not to mention, having a governor who is committed to protecting our natural resources!

edit: ok, I know Maine is not a "key state" but it is where I live!

I wonder, has Bill ever let Hillary be on top? He must have lost that race, and brought in the relief driver(monica) he needed.

Hi, to all.

Blatina is back. I for one voted for Hillary when she was running against this community organizer that we have in the White House. If she runs in 2016 I would really have to say that she would have my vote. It really depends how far our President takes us to the left.

I see that nothing has changed on this blog. Same old people.

If the government offered me a position of ambassador to Libya which just recently revolted I would have considered the inherent risks that were involved with that position. I am so tired of the righties and tea baggers making a lame, lame, LAME issue of Benghazzi.

Forbes list of billionaires. Up from 1000 to 1400. Net worth up 20%. Righties! Ask yourself this question. Has your net worth gone up or down or does your bigotry transcend even your own self interest. Cling to your guns tight!

Hillary will plow the field easily.

They pick Bengazi because that is all they have. Even that is past the minds of most people in the country but not the hand full of idiots who have nothing else they can say and even have a chance of being heard and believed. That putz, Lindsay Graham and his little crew of fellow demons love to be in the spotlight with what they think is some huge issue when it really isn't all that big. Sure, it was a bad thing and mistakes were made so we learn from our mistakes and move on. You can bet that if Hillary runs for POTUS that will be a nagging issue that same buch of nit picking little morons will bring up. It will be kind of like the fools that made themselves look silly by bringing up Obama's birth certificate.

I think Cuomo just suffers from a lack of name recognition at this point. The Cuomo's are mainly a New York thing. I could really imagine a Clinton/Cuomo ticket in 2016 though.

Hillary in a major landslide, if she runs??? She is getting on in years, now. How old will she be, at the end of her second term? Yes, she will get a second term, just ask the Teapottie led GOP!!! The TGOP will continue its decline, it simply cannot help it's self!!! Pity, really. We do need an opposition party, just not one opposed to everything!

We need new blood, in both houses!!! Out with the old, in with the new!!! One term to prove you are for us, and not the big money guys, that's it!!! One term for all, prove you are for everyone, and not just the upper crust! Once you prove your worth, then you will be re-elected to a second, and last term!

Your only chance of winning is Chris Christy who has never met Krispy Kreme he doesn't like...except the rabid teabaggers don't like him so his ship won't sail....

Just what you said when Romney was running. How'd that work out for you?

Denial is a big part of the conservative problem and there are no signs you have learned anything.

How can Billery possibley become President when Obama will get a third term. Can't happen because of the Constitution? They haven't had any respect for the Constitution so far and that is what Geoge Soros wants. For those who aren't paying attention, there obviously is enough voter fraud and plenty of idiots to make it happen.

The other thing, Hillary better go on a diet, because at the rate she's expanding, if Christie gets the GOP nomination, the way they'll have to settle the election is by SUMO wresting match...

at this point, it only shows that Christie is not insane and could lead the recons back to power. Hillary is superb, but getting a bit old for this. Rubio, Ryan- simply insane but it shows that 35% of americans will vote only Republican, just as 35% will only vote Dem. They get the default vote but unless they drop the insane stuff they simply can't beat the demographics.
