Why would we be surprised? Wasn't it just last year we also had to re-fight Roe vs. Wade, which I might add, is still under attack. Christ, I'm surprised the conservative movement hasn't started a repeal of the repeal Prohibition. What's next, attack the suffrage movement? At this rate, we will soon be re-hashing out admitting the Hawaii/Alaska to the union.
Rehashing old decisions alleviates the need to work on current business. Heaven forbid if Congress actually got something done!

No incentive to compromise? Well, guess that lets us know exactly where WE stand with republicans--we don't count; only Grover Norquist and the richest 2% count.
I target republicans because democrats already agreed to cut spending and have put proposals on the table. Republicans keep demanding spending cuts but refuse to tell us what--ala Mitt Romney, wait until I'm elected, then I'll tell you; plus republicans refuse to consider closing tax loopholes which Boehner commented needed to be done in Dec 2012. President Obama's proposal is on the White House web site, it reflects what the people voted for in Nov--a balance of spending cuts and revenue increases. Democrat Chris VanHollen has tried to introduce the democratic bill reflecting a balance of cuts and revenues THREE times but Boehner refuses to allow the legislation to be debated let alone an up/down vote.
Not having sound on my work computer, I can only comment on the visuals - what's up with Dom? He looks shorter in his seat, like someone messed with the levers. Also it looks like he didn't sleep at all last night. Poor guy!
It does beg the question - why doesn't Scalia just come out and say he wants to see Obama's birth certificate. He proves a bigot in a robe is a bigot in a robe, regardless of whether that robe is black or white.
I will readily admit to have been lulled in the past regarding the level of racism remaining in our otherwise perfectly serviceable Country... Now I'm not.

Holy crap! I'm seceding?! I haven't been keeping up with my state lately! We do have some fruit loops in this state, just as all states do, and there some old timers who still harbor bitterness at Alaska becoming an official state. Talk about carrying a torch! I'm going to have to spend a day or two and catch up on my governor's and the state doings.

AG - the Alaska house has been busy passing bills that make it a crime to enforce Federal laws. That seems like one step away from secession.
One of the things that bothers me the most about this sequester thing is that the Dem's have allowed themselves/ourselves to be thoroughly hoodwinked by the righties . . . even though ALL RESPONSIBLE ECONOMISTS are saying we DO NOT NEED ANY SPENDING CUTS NOW, the ReThuglicans have ~90% of Americans totally convinced that we have a "spending problem."
We do not - at this time - have a "spending problem" . . . we have a "deficiency of growth" problem!!!We need JOBS, JOBS, & MORE JOBS! and infrastructure, and education for kids, etc . . . INVESTMENT! Full employment will take care of the deficit over time.
If you think we need spending cuts - now - you are buying the Norquist theory of "let's make government so small you can drown it in a bathtub." WE NEED A FUNCTIONING GOVERNMENT!
Pres. Obama has already CUT SPENDING! from 10% of GDP, when he took office, to 5% of GDP, now. . . . sucking any more $$$ out of the Gov now will cause another recession, which is what the sequester will do.

Finally, why does Congress need "an incentive to compromise"??? how about this: we sent you to Congress to GOVERN! you can't govern w/o compromise.

How we got to this point? Obama purposed it. We delayed twice at his request. He did nothing. We gave him more stuff he wanted like higher taxes and raised the debt ceiling. He did more nothing. We can't delay it any more. He wants more money we don't have and he still wont cut out the right programs, so no despite his campaign to blame others for his failures we have to give him the sequester he purposed. This is the leadership he has given. The title should have read, we are all out of compromise. There has been plenty of compromise, but Obama continues to drop his side of the deal and ask for more money.

Uhh, you forgot that Eric Cantor talked John Boehner into walking away from the 2011 Grand Bargain to opt for the sequester instead. In fact, your entire post is tilted from all the baloney. Boehner threw up his hands, in fact, he kicked the can down the road because he is a poor leader with zero negotiation skills. Boehner kicked the fiscal cliff down the road, too; took Christmas vacation, then Presidents' Day vacation and NOT ONCE HAS he offered a plan. Why won't Boehner allow the democratic bill to be debated and voted on? Chris VanHollen has tried to introduce it THREE times.
President Obama has offered the GOP several deals, it isn't his fault Boehner's got a bunch of ignorant fools in his caucus who wouldn't know a good deal if it introduced itself as such.

It is laughable that you ask where are Boehners ideas. Two bills passed the house and Harry Reid would not allow a senate vote on them. It is also laughable that you do not put that expectation on Obama who authored the sequester. Asking for more taxes and more debt is NOT a plan. It is a double down on his failure to budget or cut waste. There is not a lack of our money sent to the government, there is a lack of wisdom in how it has been spent. Last week liberal blamed sequester on the GOP, this week after Woodward's piece showing that Obama created it, it no longer matters who's idea it was. The blame tour failed, now if it costs jobs Obama owns it. Threatening Woodward over that article shows again how transparent this administration is not. They will likely ask for a drone strike at his home soon.
