As Marco Rubio works to build his profile nationally, Americans who do have an opinion of the Florida senator have a slightly net-negative toward him.
A Pew Research Center poll released Wednesdayfound that 26 percent of U.S. adults have a favorable opinion of the Florida Republican, versus 29 percent who have an unfavorable opinion of Rubio. Thirty-one percent of the poll’s respondents said they hadn’t heard of Rubio; 15 percent said they couldn’t rate him.
The poll was conducted Feb. 14-17, following Rubio’s nationally-televised response to President Barack Obama’s State of the Union address.

The results suggest that Rubio has some work ahead of him to build his profile, and move voters’ opinion of him into net-positive territory, especially if he chooses to pursue the Republican presidential nomination in 2016.
In addition to delivering the State of the Union response, Rubio has participated in bipartisan negotiations to craft a comprehensive immigration reform bill. He’s worked in recent weeks to sell that legislation to conservatives in particular. Rubio also took a high-profile, official trip to Israel and Jordan this week.
The poll found that independents held mixed views – 25 percent favorable, 24 percent unfavorable – toward Rubio.
The Florida senator fares much better among Republicans and Americans who agree with the Tea Party.
Forty-nine percent of Republicans say they have a favorable opinion toward Rubio, versus 18 percent who have an unfavorable opinion of him; nearly a third of Republicans, 32 percent, could not offer a rating of Rubio in the Pew poll. Those who agree with the Tea Party more broadly favor Rubio, 70 to 7 percent.
The Pew poll has a 3.7 percent margin of error for its total sample of all Americans. The subsample of Republicans has a 7.3 percent margin of error, and the subsample of independents has a 6.6 percent margin of error.

Rubio wants to tell Mexicans, Haitians, and those from Latin America that come into this country how and what they have to do, but forget his family is from Cuba and all they have to do is put foot on dry land and they can stay and receive welfare benefits, go to school and do and get all the things that citizens get and are able to do except be president, yet he wants you to believe he is an authority on immigration.
His family did not have to go through the things that the all other Hispanics have to go through that are not from Cuba!!!

tocnoth - you don't need an 'authority' on immigration to solve the problem - it's pretty simple - completely secure the border - then discuss what to do with those that are already here illegally. The democrats will fight securing the border tooth and nail as they love having a constant train of uneducated and in most cases unskilled workers that they can offer freebies to vote Democratic. Upset - your facts are wrong - the mainstream media has not looked behind the smoke and mirrors of this corrupt administration. The border is not secure - Obama has not increased deportations - they are cooking the books - they are actually counting as deportations the folks not allowed in at the borders along with other manipulation of the data. Everyone should agree that the borders need completely secured - if we don't secure them... and we offer some type of amnesty to those here - we will find ourselves in this same situation again in a few years...with more illegals... and Democrats once again calling for amnesty. Securing our borders can be done if our government has the will do it. Israel is able to secure its borders as are most other nations. At the end of the day nothing matters more than our sovreignity and that is at risk with unsecured borders.
Rubio's downfall will be the issue he is promoting ~ immigration. Unless he sells out to the interests of Hispanics he will be kicked to the curb by them. If he does, his own party will kick him to the curb and he will never get to first base because of the lack of "establishment Republican" campaign contributions. Rubio will not be the favorite son of the Tea Party, either. That role will very likely go to newly elected Texas senator Ted Cruz who rode into Washington on the Tea Party vote. Cruz will be highly vocal on every issue, hoping to build his resume and gain favor with the GOP. The animosity building between orthodox Republicans and Tea Party followers will intensify as we move toward 2014 and that, along with a weak stable of candidates, will play into Democrat's favor.

Who will be the front runners after that?
If it's anything like last time, none of them will be able to stay on top in the polls for more than a week after people start actually listening to what they have to say.
They like Rubio and Cruz because they are hispanic, but that's also a problem. There will be "conservatives" in Texas who walk into the voting booth, see a hispanic name and walk right back out.

Gitmo is still open because the republicans refused to release money to move them to a prison in Illinois. I think the president has the power to do more, but isn't, and I don't know why. He has signed 2 executive orders to do so, and has been blocked by congress.
The Patriot Act has been renewed because the CIA and Homeland Security say its provisions have foiled several terrorist acts. the Republicans want to keep the Patriot Act, and the dems say they chose NOT to fight that battle with them.
Republicans in strong resistance to try terrorists in our court system, they want military court martials, or to just keep them in Gitmo. The ACLU is still fighting this. They want oversight of the Patriot Act and its provisions and applications.
I don't know what you mean by number 4. I find the President more ethical than the previous one who started 2 illegal wars, cost thousands of young people their lives by sending them to a war the American people bought based on lies.
Jobs bills have been systematically obstructed by the Republicans. The latest one, "Fix it First", which would employ many working on the necessary reconstruction of our bridges, roadways etc., is meeting with resistance as the president tries to involve industry in helping to foot the bill. Bill Clinton reversed Reagan’s course, raising taxes on the wealthy, and lowering them for the working and middle classes. This produced the longest sustained economic expansion in American history. Importantly, it also produced budgetary surpluses allowing the government to begin paying down the crippling debt begun under Reagan.
