As Marco Rubio works to build his profile nationally, Americans who do have an opinion of the Florida senator have a slightly net-negative toward him.
A Pew Research Center poll released Wednesdayfound that 26 percent of U.S. adults have a favorable opinion of the Florida Republican, versus 29 percent who have an unfavorable opinion of Rubio. Thirty-one percent of the poll’s respondents said they hadn’t heard of Rubio; 15 percent said they couldn’t rate him.
The poll was conducted Feb. 14-17, following Rubio’s nationally-televised response to President Barack Obama’s State of the Union address.
Sen. Marco Rubio talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Shimon Peres during Rubio's trip to Israel.
The results suggest that Rubio has some work ahead of him to build his profile, and move voters’ opinion of him into net-positive territory, especially if he chooses to pursue the Republican presidential nomination in 2016.
In addition to delivering the State of the Union response, Rubio has participated in bipartisan negotiations to craft a comprehensive immigration reform bill. He’s worked in recent weeks to sell that legislation to conservatives in particular. Rubio also took a high-profile, official trip to Israel and Jordan this week.
The poll found that independents held mixed views – 25 percent favorable, 24 percent unfavorable – toward Rubio.
The Florida senator fares much better among Republicans and Americans who agree with the Tea Party.
Forty-nine percent of Republicans say they have a favorable opinion toward Rubio, versus 18 percent who have an unfavorable opinion of him; nearly a third of Republicans, 32 percent, could not offer a rating of Rubio in the Pew poll. Those who agree with the Tea Party more broadly favor Rubio, 70 to 7 percent.
The Pew poll has a 3.7 percent margin of error for its total sample of all Americans. The subsample of Republicans has a 7.3 percent margin of error, and the subsample of independents has a 6.6 percent margin of error.

While I don't agree with his politics most of the time. I think he is at least willing to compromise to get things done, unlike most of his party. Unfortunately, after a couple years in Washington his demeanor will change and most likely not for the good. He's at least likable, unlike most rookie senators from his party.
The only thing most people will know or remember of Rubio is his water problem on national TV. The guy is a fraud.
Being a sell-out is a hard obstacle to overcome with an informed electorate.
Far right Rubio? Going to be another tough election if the GOP go in with another ultra conservative agenda and no plan again in 2016. When are they going to understand the majority of Americans do not want what the minority rich and corporations pay them for? From what I've been reading lately, a move to a more moderate position is going to pull a whole lot of votes from the left who feel the Dems are more focused on agenda now than policy for the betterment of the nation.
Unless you've been living under a rock or you're totally brain dead you can see the Mr. Rubio is a young man whose only goal in life is that of promoting himself. In other words, just another politician.
But he will have help from Republicans who have the strange idea that somehow the millions of Mexicans in this country have all of a sudden developed love and affection for Cubans.
I have a negative opinion of him for a couple reasons:
1. He's a Republican.
2. He's not a very smart Republican.
Rubio does not posses the intelligence or the savvy required to be a Senator, certainly not presidential material!
The tax payers in Florida are still waiting for an explanation and rebate of the 95.000 dollars that dissapeared on his watch out of the State of Florida Speakers money when he very poorly ran that position. We know his house ,cars and massage parlors got big portions of that .We would like it all back now that he is a Senator and moved out of Florida. It appears he maybe got his traing from his CUBA Heritage.
He is not smart enough and better NOT try and run for president, THATS FOR SURE !!!!
