Now, some conservative are leaping to his defense. “Senator Ted Cruz came to Washington to advance conservative policies, not play by the same old rules that have relegated conservatives, and their ideas, to the back bench,” Michael Needham, president of the influential Heritage Action said.
Menendez watch: “Under investigation for alleged ethics lapses, Menendez traveled to Afghanistan and Pakistan over the weekend for his first foreign trip since taking over as chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee following John Kerry's confirmation as secretary of State,” The Hill writes. “The trip brought renewed unwelcome attention to his troubles at home after the official website of Afghan President Hamid Karzai on Tuesday published photos that purport to show Menendez and Karzai discussing the ‘fight against corruption.’”
How out of control has the Chuck Hagel opposition become? A Daily News reporter says he posed a sarcastic question to a GOP aide of whether Hagel took money from any groups like “Friends of Hamas,” an over-the-top, non-existent group, and the next thing he knew it was a headline on a conservative website.
National Journal says Jim Risch (R-ID) is the Senate’s “most conservative” member. Dick Blumenthal (D-CT) and Tom Udall (D-NM) tied for “most liberal.”

The problem with the Republicans is we can see their best "all cuts all the time" offer and it is, unfortunately, the sequester itself. Until the Republicans are ready to offer something that is better than what we already have. The thing about the sequester is as bad as it is it pretty much leaves Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid alone - so I seriously doubt the Democrats are going to negotiate that away - why should they.
I am soooo ready for the shut down....the paltry amount that they are "supposedly" cutting is a nothing. The CBO has said recently that our govt. wastes around 39 billion dollars a year. They have no idea where the money goes. Fraud, theft.....who knows. It is time we stop believing the lies and.....LET THE CUTS BEGIN! We are driving ourselves off the financial cliff. We have to quit buying the lies and DEAL WITH IT!
I am for cuts as well as closing loopholes and tax havens. Why can't we do both?
Just the mere fact that bent politicians acknowledge and use the word "loophole" is pathetic in the first place.
Cut the waste, fraud and theft. Stop paying entitlements to people who have no indication of ever bettering themselves. Shake down Wall Street for a couple hundred billion dollars since they fuking ransacked the economy. Bring jobs home and allow the middle class to pay taxes on wages we shipped overseas. Crack down on white collar crime. Expose those wealthy elites who siphon American dollars out of the country to avoid taxes. Close the revolving door between D.C. and Corporate America. And line the streets of America with the swinging bodies of lobbyists (those scum bag fu*ks).
There will be the usual posturing, foot stomping, breath holding until one nearly turns blue but in the end the Republicans will come around and do the right thing. They will assist the Democrats in providing a plan that is balanced. Any plant that will be effective in lowering the deficit must contain more than just spending cuts or more than revenue increases but a balance of both. President Obama has been calling on Congress to give him a balanced bill that will both cut spending and raise revenue but somehow Congress has their fingers in their ears with tongues out saying lalalalalalalalalala.

Do you really think the Republicans will do the right thing? The Party of NO has only one objective: That is to make the President look bad in any way they can. Have you noticed that lately Boner has started saying "the President's sequester?" That's another lie he is saying to try to make the President look bad. Rather than reaching any compormise (a dirty word in repub-speak) they will drag the sequester fight out as long as they can. They don't seem to understand that their stubborn refusal to work together with the Democrats is doing serious harm to the economy, not to mention the public's perception of the republican brand. Fortunately, the President is taking the fight to the streets, going out into the public arena and drumming up support for his budget plan. People may not agree with everything he wants to do, but at least he wants to try and do something constructive The Republicans only want to shut government down.

Here's the deal. Everybody is a crook. Conservatives have their hands in the pockets of the church and big business. Liberals are on the take from organized labor.
Our government representatives should amplify the voice of their constituency, not pervert it. A 2 party system is absurd because it is offering 2 bad choices.

They had better start working togeather, this stand of just say no to everything is not what they are there for and they know that, they are just upset they did not win and the president is black, they are doing this at the cost of the people, the people did not let the debt go the 11 plus trillion under bush who never cared about how it is going to be paid, now we're at 16 trillion and they are still holding there ground, foolish. The republicans only want cuts to SS / Medicare, of which the people pay into, Medicaid is another story, and Ryan wants no taxes, well how is this going to be paid and how is the gov't going to run without money.
Our President is incapable of working with anyone. He would rather be campaigning....which he still is doing. He will be traveling 5,000 miles in the next couple of weeks. How about this Mr. President, why not walk over to the congress and meet with those guys and try and be our leader. Try to bring us together. Try and compromise, after all you already got your TAX HIKES......now it's your turn to cut.
Wonder how many underage teenage girls Menendez will enjoy while he's in Pakistan and Afghanistan. Maybe a couple of 16 year olds and some hashish?

The methodology for confiscating your patentable idea is to say you can't have the patent, and since they refused it to you, it will not be awarded to anyone else either. Take the example of David Radius Hudson and his command of the mono-atomic process. They wouldn't give him a patent until he jumped through their hoops, and when he did what they wanted him to do with the substances, after three more years of work to accomplish their arbitrary demand, they then said it had National Security Implications and they therefore couldn't give him a commercial patent.

You can't imagine that if you discovered something like antigravity or teleportation of matter, that if you tried to patent these discoveries, they would be denied and confiscated, to preserve the status quo of the geo-petro-political global economy? Many patent applications have to get clearance for approval from the DoD. This is news to you?

Everyone agrees we need to make cuts, but what I and a lot of others don't understand why the GOP doesn't want to close tax loop holes??? All it shows is they want to suck up to the rich. And until they agree to start closing a bunch of those holes I am done voting for any of them.

Now we are back and the can is right there to be delt with or kicked again and to the Rep,let the sequester take place and it will be the down fall of that Black Man (they do not reconize him as a president or much less a leader) Now I predict this. You people are all falling for the "make them fight each other" plan. Government spending is always for moochers? Where are calls to end spending for big oil, big farming, big pharma..bank subsidies. Yes, Bank Subsidies! These institutions have obscene profits and still get huge amounts from the government! They are trying to mask this by pitting people against people and you guys are just buying into it. Why do people get a tax credit for a private jet? For a dressage hourse? these cuts wont even make a dent. people maybe furloughed for up to 22 days,before they get called back with back pay, so where is the actual savings. what about the millions and millions of people that have been out of work for over 5 years that do no longer qualify for unemployment. what about the millions of children that had no christmas and prob wont this year mr obama. what about the millions of illegals that can now get all the social programs and draw off of what real Americans paid into social security. what about all the medical jobs going away because of obamacare.

Social Security doesn't add to the deficit or the debt. It is self funded and is owed money by the Federal government to the tune of $2 TTTrillion. When someone lends you THEIR money, you can't blame them for your being in debt, or indebted to them. You can blame the politicians, but you can't blame Social Security.
Stop lumping Medicare, Medicaid, and welfare in with Social Security, and we might start listening to you.
As to the debt. If you look at the CAFR for the USA we have $30 TTTrillion in ASSETS in securities and bonds. The US government is running at a profit, and keeping two sets of accounting books.
