Sen. Marco Rubio really wants nothing to do with President Barack Obama's immigration backup plan.
Rubio's office on Tuesday released a statement insisting that the plan the Florida Republican is working on has "major differences" from the White House blueprint that was leaked to USA Today over the weekend. Spokesman Alex Conant pointed to a number of measures they say are missing from the White House plan: tying the a path to citizenship to border security, a new visa exit system and a plan to deal with future immigrants.
And Conant said no one in Rubio's office has met with the White House to talk immigration.
White House spokesman Jay Carney addresses whether the release of a draft immigration bill was done on purpose.
"President Obama and the White House staff are not working with Republicans on immigration reform. Senator Rubio’s office has never discussed immigration policy with anyone in the White House," Conant said.
On Tuesday, the White House insisted it was in fact working with lawmakers on the issue. Obama has said he wants the Senate to write a bipartisan immigration proposal, but that he'll release his own plan if that process drags.
"We have been in contact with everyone involved in this effort on Capitol Hill," White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said.
Asked to clarify, Rubio's spokesman said the administration had sent agency officials to brief Senate staffers for the bipartisan group of eight senators who are working on immigration reform -- but insisted policy was not discussed.

"They've never asked for our input. (And, frankly, we've never asked for theirs.)," Conant wrote in an email.
Senior administration officials said that staffers from the White House had attended at least 5 briefings with congressional staffers working on bipartisan reform. At different points, officials from relevant government agencies also briefed the staff group.
Some Republicans have suggested the White House's separate plan could help GOP supporters distance themselves from the president and highlight the compromises in a Senate plan. Rubio's office rejected that analysis.
"The White House has injected additional partisanship into an already difficult process, and raised fresh questions about the president’s seriousness about passing reform," Conant said.

Step 2 - Make it a mandatory requirement that all illegals granted citizenship must register as Democrats.
Step 3 - All illegals whom register as Democrats will not have to pay back taxes, back benefits, and entitlements received during their illegal status!
Step 4 - Pardon all employers that previously employed illegals!
Step 5 - All future ballots for elections will have to be provided in the original languages that the illegals can read and write!
Step 6 - All illegals willing to apply for citizenship, must first register their kids in Democratic Re-Education Programs run by Teacher Unions!
Step 7 - All illegals must take an oath to support his Majesty Oboma!

I have always suspected that the GOP dug up the dirt on Cain and put it out there by way of "unnamed sources". They were terrified of a black candidate running against a black incumbent. How would they ever get their racist base to the polls if the choice was between two black men?

I had a good friend when I was in high school who was of Mexican descent. His father worked. His mother worked. They earned a good living, owned their own home, and gave the best barbeques in the world. Both of his parents spoke excellent English and considered themselves fully American. I really wish that people would quit assuming all people of Mexican descent are illegal, minimum wage first generation immigrants. That just isn't true. Plenty of Mexicans are fully middle class and above. Recent immigrants get the crap jobs because they're recent immigrants and easy to exploit. This doesn't mean the next generation will stay at the bottom of the economic ladder.
It has been my experience that those who immigrate to this country come here for the opportunity. They are usually the hardest workers and the most ambitious. There will always be exceptions, but most immigrants are better citizens than those who have been here for several generations and have gotten fat and lazy and complacent, believing the world owes them a living.

Junior senator from Florida expects call from President and when he does not call than Rubio gets uptight. Republicans are making him a bit too big for his britches. Reply to State of the union did not do Rubio much favor. How long it will take to realize that Rubio as Cuban and consequently does not bring Latinos to the table. If he is smart he will keep his nose to the grinding stone and as a result he will have his name attached to this important legislation. But I think that his Napoleonic complex will prevail and he will join Jindal and Cruz as losers.
