Decision 2016: Hillary, Rubio more popular than Obama?

A new Quinnipiac Poll out this morning shows Hillary Clinton and Marco Rubio more popular than President Obama, per National Journal.

Politico: “After years of questions about his girth, Chris Christie seemed to settle on a strategy – leave them laughing. The overweight New Jersey governor took to Dave Letterman’s couch, donut in hand, on Monday night, joining one of his chief late night tormenters for some jokes at his own expense. The calculation was clear – try to turn the potential negative into a positive, a strategy used by many a politician, including Al Gore during his 2000 presidential campaign….The Letterman appearance was the clearest sign yet that Christie is well aware that his girth presents a potential obstacle in 2016, if not with voters than with the media. But by bringing it up as a joke, Christie effectively signaled it’s acceptable to discuss it.”

CALIFORNIA: Los Angeles Times: “The top five candidates for Los Angeles mayor faced an unusually tough grilling Thursday led by Austin Beutner, the former deputy mayor who once stood as a leading contender in the race…While in past debates the candidates have offered a striking lack of specificity about how they would tackle the city's looming $1-billion budget deficit, Beutner — a retired investment banker who served as Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa's first deputy until mid-2011 — repeatedly pressed them for details at a lively San Fernando Valley forum.”

TEXAS: “The campaign manager for Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst, already facing a state investigation over allegations of theft from Dewhurst’s political account, has been accused of also taking at least $1 million from the Republican’s U.S. Senate campaign last year,” The Dallas Morning News writes.

Chris Christie is likeable, but that thin skinned temperament would get old really quick under all the stresses a President faces.

Maybe we need that thin skinned temperament. At least people know what is on his mind instead of keeping everything rosy while stabbing you in the back. You would know what's coming.

And after the first four years of Mr. Obama, I think even the dem/liv/libs will admit they made a mistake and can't wait for Hillary to run. They realized too late the silver tongue, history making man they voted in wasn't quite worth throwing Hillary under the bus for.

Nah, I think we've had a pretty good President for the last four years. And he'll be an even better President the next four years, and Hillary will be a fine President the eight years after that. And Ozziey and Talk to the Hand will lose their minds.

And Mo your children will lose their future. You can't deficit spend forever no matter how much you'd like to believe we can. Sooner or later the can is going to get crushed if we keep kicking it.

Update: Ozziey has already lost his mind.

Tell me Ozziey. How many republican Presidents haven't deficit spent? While you at it tell us how many Presidents have left office with a surplus instead of a deficit? Also tells us how many Presidents have started with a surplus and ended with an enormous deficit?

Betcha' Dewhurst knows more than he claims. Gov Oops once candidate is in deep trouble with the Feds, as he claims to know nothin'!

Dewhurst campaign officials said Barfield concealed his theft from the state account by falsifying bank deposit slips, vendor invoices and finance reports to make it appear that campaign accounts had far more cash on hand than they actually did. In the meantime, he and his side businesses, such as Alexander Group Consulting, were paid hundreds of thousands of dollars for services — many of which were never delivered.

Trying to blame the theft on Barfield.........

Mo, couple of things lemming. i'm sure your referring to Clinton when you talk about a surplus so let's look a little closer. Who exactly was in control of the congress when he had that surplus and fought him tooth and nail over his liberal spending agenda? Oh and don't forget he actually claimed a surplus but in reality to do so he had to rob Social Security surplus. Second when you ask how many republican Presidents haven't deficit spent maybe you should be asking how many had record deficits like this President? Who's lost what Mo?

Clinton will be to old in 2016 and rubio should have more seasoning in congress before considering a run for the WH. All rubio needs to do is look at how little good America did under obamas "on the job training" experiment. If you can't work with the opposition, what good are you?

    Here's an interesting, little known FACT;

We are no longer financing our Deficits with money from investors (both foreign and domestic) - virtually the entire Deficit is currently being financed by the Federal Reserve effectively 'printing new money'.

China has 'cashed in' about $200 Billion of their loans to us over the last year because they know that we are using the 'printing press' to finance our Deficits, something that every responsible economist will tell you is 'HIGHLY INFLATIONARY'.

In short - We are no longer actually borrowing the money to finance our Deficits - We are merely printing it. Yes, it is happening RIGHT NOW.

That's what Germany did in the 1920s, when the Mark went from 4.2 Marks per Dollar to 4.2 Trillion Marks per dollar in less than a year. And in Zimbabwe (Africa) in 2008, they printed so much money that the inflation rate got to billions of % per month (and people stopped using the worthless printed money).

Mo, deficit spending is only a problem if its a democratic president. Thats an LOL, the truth these right wonders don't have a clue about government. The president suggest spending but it is up to congress what is actually spent and the difference between a democratic congress and a republican congress is, Democrats pay for their spending, and Republicans borrow and spend. The Bush W. years are an example. The first 6 years he didn't not veto one single thing. Republican congress borrowing and spending. Then the programs were in place, two wars, and a drug benifit that has to be paid for. That accounts for much of the deficit spending today.

LOL, Obama and company is on track to double our national debt over the total debt created by all the past administrations combined.

While it is historically true that either side can spend like a drunken sailor, at least this go around has the right wanting to be more fiscally responsible. What neither side wants to address is actually cutting government expenditures rather than just slowing down the rate of expenditure growth.

Start paying the price gradually now, rather than just continually kicking the can down the road.

BTW - johntho just go up to anyone on medicare and tell them you are going to cut their prescription benefit. Then go up to anyone collecting SSI bennies and tell them they are going to loose them because the democrats didn't create adequate funding for it. Then tell them that you are a liberal. Lmao!

Agree chilled. Marco really wouldn't stand a snowballs chance against Hillary. It's Christie I'm worried about. So he has a thin skin? Theat doesn't mean doodoo in today's politics. Check out the TPer's. Thin skinned just doesn't begin to describe them. I know, I live in South Carolina. And that's pretty tough for a Democrat against the idiots that run state government here.

If Christie runs, he'll be tough to beat, although I feel like Hillary will do it. But she'll be 65 or around that and if she doesn't want to run, I don't know of anyone who might beat the chubby one. He can laugh at himself and tell others to go to hell. That makes him a politician that knows what might be right, at least in his mind. So I worry about Christie running for Prez.

Let us have Rubio. He'd be beaten like a scrambled egg.

I like that one jackieboy!..Throw in some ham and cheese.. make it an omlette!

As for Christie, he's concerned about his children hearing what the Dr. said.....

Imagine what his children will hear about him if he decides to run nationally.....

Christie will just have to bluster his way through an entire campaign, while simultaneously banning his children from looking at TV and all media.

We've had heavy politicians before. President William H. Taft was a big guy. A special bath tub was made and installed in the White House for him. Look at Grover Cleveland, James A Garfield, and Chet Arthur, they were all pretty well fed fellows. Today's obsession with being skinny as a rail and not a drop of fat on one keeps someone who may have inherited genes that cause him to be overweight to lose out when he might otherwise be a great fit. The brain is still sharp in one who is obese just as it is with anyone else. I have obese friends and, in fact, could afford to drop a few pounds myself, some of our group have felt descrimination due to our weight. I can't say that I have but others I know have and it is no different than descrimination due to race, religion, sexual orientation, age or anything else.

If I were in a postition to vote for or against Mr. Christie I would base it on his policies, track record and beliefs rather than on his weight the same as I do with any candidate. There are things that matter and things that really don't.

Rubio, more popular and on a par with Hillary, really--hahahaha. Our resident Pudgester--known and proven fibber, a bit of an ethics problem, never answered, with state Republican Party credit card charges, voted no on the VAWA bill, voted no for disabilities treaty, will be voting no on Hagel, co-sponsored Blunt Amend., and universally disliked by other Hispanic groups whom think Cubans are arrogant. Fibbed about family's immigration status--claimed family fled Castro--wrong, family emigrated before Castro came to power and grandfather an illegal, the guy is a liar and opportunist, lets see if he stands up to 4 years of scrutiny, betcha he can't and won't.

So does that mean that everything obama has done in the past shouldn't also be examined? You know like not creating a higher debt ceiling or being held accountable for high pump prices (like he blamed bush2 for in 2008). I know let's insist that we all petition the world court to bring him before it for his assassination policies and invafing pakistan without warning to do it.

Yeh, obama is such a shining example of inflexability as well. LOL!

Who cares if the guy is horizontally gifted and vertically challenged? Look at his record for turning around a liberal state.

I'd rather hear direct responses to the question, than have a PC retort to make me feel good. I for one am tired of hearing BS from the legislators and the Barry.

Hillary, really? Is that the best candidate liberals can offer up for 2016? Bring her on! Other than being Bill's wife, what has she ever accomplished on her own? Her 4 years as Secretary of State was a disaster, nothing accomplished and a dead Ambassador because she didn't read the memo. Just what America needs, another do nothing, vote buying, celebrity president.
