Updated 4:32 p.m. - Hillary Rodham Clinton left the State Department on Friday"confident about the direction that we have set," handing off the secretary of state's job to former Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass.
Kerry took the oath of office, administered by Supreme Court Jusice Elena Kagan, late Friday afternoon. The private ceremony was closed to reporters.
The 2004 Democratic presidential nominee takes over for Clinton, who resigned her position hours earlier after a four-year term as America's top diplomat.
In remarks at the diplomatic agency's Foggy Bottom headquarters, Clinton waxed about the familiar atmosphere at the State Department during her four years as secretary, an environment she said would extend to Kerry.

"Next week, I would expect that all of you will be as focused and dedicated for Secretary Kerry as you have been for me, and that you will continue to serve President Obama and our nation with the same level of professionalism and commitment that I have seen firsthand," she told throngs of department staff gathered for her remarks.
Clinton leaves office at the height of her popularity, and amid intrigue about what her political future might hold. She remained as coy as ever about her future intentions, making no reference toward that, and focusing her remarks instead on the diplomatic corps.
"I will be an advocate, from the outside, for the work that you continue to do here, and at [US]AID," she said.
"I am more optimistic today than when I was when I stood here four years ago. Because I have seen, day after day, the contributions our diplomats and development experts are making," she also said, later adding: "I leave this department confident about the direction that we have set."
Kerry was set to be sworn into office in a private ceremony later on Friday afternoon, and he'll inherit a number of complex foreign policy issues when he does.
Included among those vexing issues is the apparent terrorist attack against a U.S. Embassy in Ankara, Turkey on Friday. Clinton, in her valedictory remarks, said that she had spoken to the ambassador to Turkey, and acknowledged the loss of "one of our foreign service nationals" in the attack.

6) Highest % on Welfare in 50 years
7) Lowest labor participation rate since 70's
8) Highest % out of work 6 months or more since Great Depression
9) Recent Consumer Confidence lowest since Nov 2011
10) First time unemployment claims STILL over 350,000 in last report

Obama has been a failure and is now officially the WORST recovery in U.S. history.
BTW, I would stop using the 14,000 DOW as a "success". That is propped up on $1+ Trillion worth of borrowed money each and every year for the last 4 years and investors simply taking advantage of those profits. But they are false profits. There is no market producing that extra $1+ trillion.
So when the government borrowing of $1+ trillion stops so does the DOW and will drop back to where it started. The DOW is worse now then the housing bubble. It will ONLY grow with the government borrowing (actually printing) money.
That is not a success by Obama. It is actually another failure because the ECONOMY is not the reason for the DOW climbing and the minute THE MINUTE it sounds like the government will not borrow another $1 Trillion to try and keep a false economy up hold on tight because the economic and financial collapse is right behind it.

They only legislate and advocate for their masters the banksters/Federal Reserve and Wall Street which equals the oil, corporate and banking cartels. Why do you think we as a country are bankrupt and in constant war. And if you noticed, only the middle class and poor pay the price for the banksters transgressions.
You only criticize and play the counter productive Democrat Republican blame game that accomplishes nothing! You put these criminals on pedestals and defend them. The people who are really running the show need to give you the illusion that your little vote actually has some kind of political capital at the table of the elite. Anyone who claims that government corruption can be punished through the ballot box hasn’t the slightest clue how our system really functions. They think we are still living in the original “America,” one that values the voice of the people.
When the government decides to push through banker bailouts, the Patriot Act, FISA, the National Defense Authorization Act, National Defense Resources Preparedness etc., all while ignoring opposition by a vast majority of citizens, it is clear that the paradigm has shifted and the American value of representation by and for the people is lost.
So continue your little squabbles, it only serve their purpose. All the while QE to infinity is passed, banker fraud goes unpunished and another country is attacked and decimated. Overseeing the most dramatic decline in world wide respect for the United States in my lifetime. So deep is the disdain that foreign nations like Algeria don’t even bother to consult with us before unilaterally acting against terrorists.
Islamo terrorists attacking our embassies and assassinating our diplomats with no apparent fear of reprisal from the US. Her response to the Benghazi tragedy? Her “critics don't live in a fact based world”.
I guess that’s the modern equivalent of “vast right wing conspiracy”. Poor Hillary, always the victim. Sorry but one inescapable fact is that four Americans who worked for her are dead. Just as that blue dress showed up with Bill’s stain on it, the evidence of her tenure as Secretary of State is already being expressed all over the world.
I appreciate that she worked for president Obama. At the end of the day it was his policy or lack of it that she was forced to hawk all over the world. I suppose if she decides to run for president in 2016 she will make that point ad nauseum. Today, as another American embassy was attacked in Turkey, as Egypt teeters on the brink of civil war it would have been nice to hear her express any misgivings she might harbor about the direction of our foreign policy. Instead we heard the opposite. I don’t think history will agree with her assessment.

I like Hillary and think that she has done a remarkable job (she should have been President), but unfortunately, she has been stuck promoting the failed policies of Obama, and as such, America has become far weaker and less safe over the last 4 years.
Radical Islam has made big advances in much of Africa (Egypt, Mali, Libya, Tunisia, Sudan, Somalia, etc.), and we are no longer regarded as a reliable ally in other parts of the world (Pakistan, Afghanistan and other parts of the Middle East - including by many in Israel), and Iran is even closer to obtaining a nuclear bomb, while North Korea continues to embarrass us with impunity, and China continues to take advantage of us in unfair trade practices and stealing our technology through Internet hacking.
And Obama's policy of 'leading from behind', which is nothing but "Let someone else take the lead because I might make a mistake" is a joke and makes Obama a laughing stock. It was just such a 'stick your head in the sand' thinking that led to WW2 and over 60 million people killed.
Leaders LEAD, and followers follow - It's easy to see that Obama is NOT a leader. Obama is the weakest President since Jimmy Carter - actually, even Jimmy Carter was a better leader, but not by much.
Clinton did nothing of any consequence as SoS. Anyone reporting honestly would categorize her tenure as extremely unremarkable. The Obama policies have the Middle East on the verge of total chaos, so no wonder Clinton decided to hightail it down the road. This just proves that if you are a liberal lovechild the supporters will ignore failure as they swoon like crazed groupies. Maybe someday they can all catch a train ride to reality. This country is in real trouble, and the world is teetering all thanks to the which way the wind is blowing liberal policies.

She would be the most PERFECT presidential candidate we've had in many many years...Domestic Experience from her 8 years in the White House as First Lady and 8 years in the US Senate, and Forieng Affairs Experience from her time on the US Foriegn Relations Committee and her 4 years as Sec. of State. She has proven she can give and as good as she gets with her appearance at the Bengazi hearings. She's seasoned when it comes to competing in national races. And, unless she just finds civilian life just too good to give up, and if she becomes a grandmother, I cannot imagine her not running in 2016!

While I admire her intellect, her mastery of the game of politics,her resilience in overcoming a philandering husband of many years, I am not sure of the record of achievement. Egypt, Libya, Algeria, The horn of Africa, Syria all disasters and up in flames . Israel more unsure of our comminemt to them than ever. She traveled a great deal but all those haling her record, I think is subjective and depends whom you ask.
