THEY screamed, spat, cursed,kicked, insulted, threatened, legislated against, showed contempt for, and made life miserable for the poor immigrant. At their primaries they even asked for self deportation as each candidate tried to out do the others ( except for Perry...probably for local political issues affecting Texas) on their desdain for undocummented aliens.

Now they face the inevitable and want accolades for their efforts asking us to forget what they were like, barely 3 months ago. If you think this would have been under a Romney /Ryan the extremist administration, I got a bridge to sell you.

I don't care about the bickering between Repubs and Demos or the history of which partys fault this or that is. Bottom line: These policies are ruining the country. Bypassing all laws that were created so a bunch of illegals can come on board and join the system: wrong. Funny thing is just last week the hot topic was gun control. How quickly this will be forgotten and the focus will be on illegal immigration.

I'm glad that immigration is finally on the table. Next they might want to legalize pot. I'm no pot smoker, but if it were legalized and the gov. collected taxes on it, those taxes could help reduce the deficit. Legalization might stop marijuana growing in our national forests. Jeez.

It is way past time that the terrible plight of unemployed and under-employed US citizens took center stage, after all it is US citizens who are the US governments primary responsibility, not foreigners who have broken the law to be here.

How about this instead - Mandatory E-Verify NOW with a 30 day implementation period and $10,000 per day fines for non-compliance. Cut immigration from the current over 1M per year to 100,000.

Do that and we can talk about amnesty for the so-called dream kids in a few years time when the economy recovers from the last 27 years of unbridled immigration and looking the other way.

The Democrats on immigration reform look at the immigrants as voters first, and then the impact fiscally second. To stay in political control of the federal government, the Democrats must continue to be voted into office. Thus, they need voters dependent upon government subsidies. Thus the expansion of government subsidies. However, the Democrats also know that they can't continue to increase tax the wealthy, upon businesses to fund these subsidies.

The immigrants came here for a couple reasons. 1. jobs, that their own country doesn't have 2. free medical care they cant get in their own country. 3. Social Security retirement and disability that their own country doesn't have. Of course they want citizenship, otherwise they couldn't get these things. These are dependency programs which is the Hallmark of Democrats.

Republicans "conservatism" is about how the government spends money, not that the government spends money. What most Americans, low information voters as Rush Limbaugh says, is how the government creates the American economy. Most Americans think private businesses without government intervention creates the jobs and economy in America. This simply isn't true. The Federal Government, for decades created the American economy by being the single largest buyer of goods and services from American private business. This "government economy" is what kept people employed in well paid jobs, and is what tax money was spent on. Private businesses has no need for well paid workers. It has a need for low wage workers to create profits. But private businesses will hire well paid workers if their "being paid" to do so. That "being paid" to hire well paid workers, as mentioned, was funded by your tax money. Government contracts was the method government used to "pay" private businesses to hire well paid workers and create the American middle class.

But all that changed during Regan's administration. The Democrats, realizing that the senior citizens voting block [those that fought during WWII] was dwindling as those Americans aged and died had to create a new voting block of people who are dependent upon government programs to maintain and expand their political power. To do this, they need to fund it. Thus the end of the Cold War, the end of American economy based upon the Military Industrial Complex, thus free money to be spent on government programs giving the people subsidies fostering dependency, thus become Democratic voters.

The problem with that is, gone are the well paying jobs. Again, private businesses do not need a large group of well paid workers. They do need a large group of low wage workers. With politics, a large group of low wage workers, dependent upon government subsidies, is a large voting block to keep a political party in power.

The American general population are just pawns in politics, used to seize political power. Used to maintain political power. Used to expand political power.

America can never go back to the old economy created by Harry Truman to advert America going back into an economic depression after the end of WWII. But America is never going to have the large middle class of consumers again either. No matter how many subsidies the federal government gives the people to provide more money in people's pockets to buy consumer goods and keep reliance upon goverment subsidies, thus vote to keep them, private businesses do not need a large group of college educated people in a wide range of disiplines. The private industry, created products for sale and trade, need a large group of low wage workers to make the products cheaply, so a large group can buy them. Only governments can create industries that need a large group of college educated workers to work well paid jobs as only governments, though tax collections have the money to pay them.

The US Federal Government, shifting from economic policies created after WWII to employ people and advert another economic depression, to now providing subsidies for low wage workers to combat the high cost of living those post WWII economic policies created, eliminated the American middle class [except for unionized government workers], where the American middle class, by virtue of their high wage jobs, bought consumer products.

Now, workers must rely upon government subsidies to offset high costs of living, to give them enough money to buy consumer products, thus will vote for polticians who will keep those subsidies.

Republicans who want to spend tax money on businesses, have zero interest in their policies with the general population who must rely upon government assistance to allow them to buy those consumer goods they want. If anything, Republicans appear to want to take away those programs which allow the general population to live the lifestyle they want, which they could not otherwise live without those subsidies.

It's the same issue Greece, Italy, Spain, Portugal, and most Western European nations face today and politicians created it, to remain in political power.

The alternative is to crash the economy, allow another Great Depression, risk civil revolt and potential rebellion. Risk war. All to force goverment [politicians] to once again spend money to employ people rather than spend money giving subsidies to workers while those workers work low wage jobs so that the consumer economy can continue to buy consumer products made cheaply, and allow low wage workers to buy homes, pay property taxes, to fund local and state goverment operations including local and state government workers and pensions.

And the whole reason for this change? Money. The Global Economy and a single international currency. Using a single international currency means countries can not manipulate currency exchange rates to mitigate loans and debt payments. If a country borrows money, then they pay it back in the value of a single international currency including interest. Countries can no longer simply devalue their currency, thus their debt and interest payments, payable in their countries currency, based upon their countries currency values, are payable, screwing the countries that loaned them money. The Euro Zone was Western Europes foray into the single currency arena and countries like Greece, Spain, Italy, even England are finding that they do not have the economic activity and tax base in which to pay back, in a single currency value the loans and sovereign debt they accumulated.

America is in the same boat as Western Europe is, in their large issuances of Federal Treasury notes which China bought up [debt]. Large amounts of Federal Treasury notes [Trillions of dollars] which the American Federal Government can never repay in anyone who is alive today lifetime.

All to fund goverment subsidies, which create a dependency class of people upon those subsidies which then creates a large voting block who will vote to keep those subsidies, thus keep a political party in power.

Politics.

It's a dirty game and the general population gets screwed for it.
