Next week is highlighted by the Obama inauguration for a second term, plus the assault-weapons ban being introduced again, the 40th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, Secretary of State Clinton testifying on Benghazi, and Sen. John Kerry's (D-MA) hearings to replace her.
Plus, what can we believe anymore? What's real and what's not?

First time unemployment claims at a 5 year low
Stock market at a 5 year high
Not to worry, the Right will make a pig's ear out of this silk purse.
Give the right a few minutes, they'll be here any minute to say it's a HOAX.
Hey, BWC and Jody- there's an echo in here! (but yea and verrily, a true-to-the-last-drop echo!)
Hey JoAnn, PA- if y' headed down to the DDI, toss a dime in d-5, "The Pushbike Song", by the Mixtures for my pal Lance Armstrong, wouldja??
Fine...since I'm the only one on the right here at the moment, I'll step up.
Jody...It's CLEARLY a hoax perpetrated by Dennis and the media and the government. ;-)
BCWC...I tried the whole pig's ear thing, but it didn't work, and I'm more confused than anything! ;-)
LOL...have a great weekend all!
And, don't forget the housing market is making a strong comeback! Things are looking up! But, never fear, the Republicans will do all they can to screw it up!
drive-by here you go

BCWC- Thanks a lot! (as Roseann Roseanna Danna used to say to Jane Curtain on Weekend Update).
Actually, I used to have to play that damned song on an all-night top-40 program at one of those 1000-Watt AM stations back in the day (before they all found out guys like Hannity would pay their light bills to carry complete and total crap, as all the music lovers migrated to FM). But- the link brings back memories. Again, thanks a lot! (really)
Hey, drive-by - knowing what a big Connie Francis fan you are, I was actually gonna send this one out to Lance tonight:

Condi Rice declined a call by some conservatives to be even considered as VP candidate for Mitt, and in one speech to answer such rumors, she said that in 2012, history would be made in presidential politics. She is right - because of the re-election of Pres. Obama.
This weekend, there is the 2nd inaugural - History IS made. Thanks, Condi.
FORWARD....
Workers' wages at an all-time low.

We want Barney Frank to be Senator Frank, the junior senator from MA!
Thanks Hillary for your service!
Welcome Secretary Kerry! How is Teresa doing? We love Heinz ketchup...which has spiced up our lives.
This just in, Rasmussen has just come out with a poll which states Gov. Romney will win by 15%. Yes sir, sure got to love those republican leaning polls. Congratulations to president Obama on your election, and I hope the inauguration festivities will live up to the promise you bring the U.S.. FOWARD.
I went to the Obama Diary and looked through the photos of the President and I'm struck by one photo that shows the Prsident with the sleeves of his blue shirt rolled up, looking tired and stressed. I wonder why anyone wants the job of President of the United States.
In the very next thought I am so thankful that a man who has the integrity, the heart, the compassion and the soul our President does decided to serve. We are truly blessed to have such a great man lead our country.
Thank you Mr. President!
Dang! I hate being late to a party!
Can we get some Etta James on the old jukebox Buzz?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zwxM--iDH2c&feature=player_detailpage
I'll have a Cosmo to pre-toast the President and Michelle on their first dance!
How LUCKY are WE to have this man in leading this great nation?
Not to mention his beautiful family who represent TRUE family values...
Hick ... hi Feishy
And food stamp dependents up higher than ever, hmmmmmm, wonder why.
Typical Obama continued campaign photo op. Review most pics and see this is true. Now when do you feel he will begin to lead? More money borrowed or printed? Oh, that's the Republicans who created this, I forgot.
Just off the MSNBC FR network:
Obama to accept crown, scepter and ermine robe for the after inaugural party with Mooooochelle. We she also have her robe and crown on?
See ya all in a few weeks, the oreganization I work for, one of those three letter government groups is sending me away. Ataturk International, here I come.
But I'll be laughing at you guys often.
Hey Feisty! Better late than never! I will join you in a Cosmo!
Bozo the clown, you are not welcome to "drink" with us. We only drink with good people. Hit the road!
To reflect on President Obama's journal to his 2nd inaugural, I remember that during the 2008 campaign the junior Senator from Illinois was asked by one of his 2008 advisers about what to achieve in the presidential race (because amazingly this young man had already accomplished a lot - the first African American editor of Harvard Law Review, the junior senator from Illinois, the keynote speaker of 2004 Democratic national convention).
.
Candidate Obama of 2008 said he wanted to inspire all of us that we all can achieve our dreams. Obama wanted to run to convince all of us that we all can do it.
.
Thanks, President Obama, U R truly inspirational.
Correction of #1.18: To reflect on President Obama's
journaljourney.... to his 2nd inaugural..
Sorry, but - Do enjoy the inaugural weekend.
We are all fortunate to observe history in the making.
and still the right complains out of one side of their mouths that the President isn't doing enough and the other side is b!tching about government interference. I'm warming up to the idea that really there isn't anything that will make these miserable people happy. Not that I care. I'll have the usual double Jim Beam on the rocks, please.
Floyd,
Would you wrangle Bubba the Bouncer and show the 1notsofunnybitch the door?
Talk about a buzz kill!
Chicago deep dish pizza pies for everyone!
Chicago deep dish pizza pies for everyone!
Yum yum.
I'll toast to that! I've been watching the History Channel's series "The Ultimate Guide to the Presidents" and last nights segment had me riveted. It was on the beginning of the 20th century and basically featured 2 of our very finest POTUS' Teddy Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson. Roosevelt challenged the mega corporation robber barons and won and Wilson enacted some of the most sweeping legislation in our history. Oh, and he led us through the First World War and on to become the super power we are today. These men had vision and weren't afraid to take their opponents head on. Really, if you like this kind of stuff, I recommend it highly.
Bye Feisty bitch. May your paycheck be smaller.
Anyone pinging for email addys? I am. And I am not a part of the fR interior elite who receives them from the site.
That's good news Dennis. UE6 (real unemployment) still stands at nearly 15%. Yay?
Why don't some of the leftist "geniuses" on this "influential" website start a petition on the people's pulpit (whitehouse.gov) and hint to the don'tunderstand@!$%#-in-chief a policy that will actually spur job growth.
Let's start with reducing the corporate tax rate to a worldwide low of 5%. Watch the jobs onshore.
Next, let's ask our most blovirious one to demand a reduction in the size of govt by 20% by the end of his second term of succeeding only in spending American's hard earned tax dollars on partying and terroristic governments.
40th anniversary of Roe v Wade? Are we going to have a cake with 54,559,615 candles that we can blow out to signify the snuffing of those babies lives?
Good call! And BCWC ....
I'm right there with you ... not sure if I want the pizza yet ... maybe in the morning with a bloody mary? Enjoying my buzz . . . .
"And food stamp dependents up higher than ever, hmmmmmm, wonder why."
Uh.... just a guess of course, but think shipping U.S. jobs overseas might have anything to do with it?? (HEY- who done THAT???)
"...But I'll be laughing at you guys often...."
Cool.
Enjoy y'self.
"Talk about a buzz kill!"
HEY!
"Enjoying my buzz . . . ."
'K- now we gittin' somewhere.
(and- say, that's NACHO cheeze! Right, "old gal"?)
"Can we get some Etta James on the old jukebox Buzz?"
Only if we can get an equal amount of KoKo Taylor. Let's pettition JoAnne...
"Obama to accept crown, scepter and ermine robe for the after inaugural party with Mooooochelle. We she also have her robe and crown on?"
C'mon, now, pork- eva buddy like a little ass, no buddy like a smart ass.
'Chicago deep dish pizza pies for everyone.."
ONLY if they from Lou Malnatti's.
Say...... is it just me, or has everyone but this DBO dude gone for the day???
I have to say one thing .... it's pretty cool to post on a link where pretty much everyone is my Vine friend. Thanks all! You've made me feel so included this year and I've so enjoyed your humor and warmth.
Carry on and back to the bar . . . .
Not sure who's still around, but DBO, you better slow down, your words are slurred!
The same to you Layton!
He likes big butts, and that's no lie! Broad in the beam she is.
" DBO, you better slow down, your words are slurred!"
Uh-Unhhh. Nope- Not me.
If anybody was wondering Obama also doubled the debt in 4 years and nearly doubled gas prices.
Bob, you f-ing idiot, Obama has done no such thing. You stinking righty fascist make stuff up, but that is not a problem it is when you start believing yourselves that it becomes a problem. That is called insanity. Now go check your breath, it stinks.
Bob,
In May 2008 gas prices set the all-time, record high at $4.18 per gallon for a national average
Our President did not double the Debt. It increased from $10T to $16T.
Obama did double one thing ... the idiocy of the House in the 2010 midterms.
Sorry, DBO, I just had one of those concoctions blackcatwhitecat was serving up, and next thing I knew, the sun was in my eyes! But hey, this party's lasting all weekend and well into Monday night, so here you go - let's see you get your Wang Dang Doodle on!

Breaking News
Fox News to Shut Down Monday Morning at 11:30
Fox News Channel announced today that it would shut down for what it called “routine maintenance” Monday morning at 11:30 E.T.
Fox News president Roger Ailes explained the timing of the shutdown, which will be the first in the history of the network: “We wanted to pick a time when we were positive nothing would be happening that our viewers would want to see.”
According to Mr. Ailes, for the twelve hours Fox News is off the air on Monday the network will broadcast a continuous photomontage of white people.
“Regular viewers of Fox probably won’t notice anything unusual,” he said. ☺

"....get your Wang Dang Doodle on!"
You good.
News flash-
Susan Rice will be Obama's National Security Adviser, whose appointment requires no senate confirmation, but whose importance is as great as that of the secretary of state. She will have a significant role in Pres. Obama's 2nd term foreign policy agenda.

This has been a breaking news update by PNN (Pigotry News Network), a nun-partisan news network - We are always pro-nuns, always respect pronouns.
Okay ... I didn't get it. The hoax thing and that Domenico doesn't exist? Help! I am so ready for this week to be OVER!
It's been a long week; Andy's mocking the hoax on the Notre Dame football player.
Layton, perhaps it speaks to all the money that Rove and company collected and got nothing!
Happy Inaugural, MLK and NFL playoff weekend!
@Jody, yup, I forgot about that very big hoax, and of course Lance "Master Liar" Armstrong!
Layton...
See Manti Te'o and his "dead girlfriend" for details.
http://sports.yahoo.com/news/ncaaf--manti-te-o-needs-to-address-public-s-questions-about-girlfriend-hoax-145103669.html
Very very odd story!
Thanks all . . . I forgot about the non-existant girlfriend! Nothing like having a Monday on a Friday! :)
Layton, it has to do with a college football player @ Notre Dame who talked about his girlfriend dying a few hours after his grandmother had died. Turns out his girlfriend never existed. He met her on line, but evidently she was not who she said she was. Strange to have a girlfriend for 3 yrs and never meet in person, but it sounds like this is what happened.
The question now is - was he hoaxed or did he hoax us?
Lanse Armstrong wasn't who he appeared to be either, which now involves an awful lot of money he took, all the while cheating.
49ers win this weekend and in two weeks.
You betcha', bcwc!
Ordinarily, I'm not one to complain about the media, but the ultimate shame about the Manti Te'o "girlfriend" hoax is that it got more coverage in the last 48 hours than the story of Elizabeth Seeberg, a freshman at St. Mary's College in South Bend, IN who reported to authorities in 2010 that she was sexually assaulted by a Notre Dame football player, ever received.
Ms. Seeberg's claims were never adequately investigated and 10 days after reporting the incident to authorities she was found dead of an apparent suicide.
Da Noid,
Thank you for that astute observation.
I agree.
Go Lions, er, well, maybe next year.
Imaginary girlfriends! So I am not the only one. I need a drink. That Scotch better be real.
Uhh, probably not. The last time they won a championship, Ike was in the White House.
We lick Ike!!
Tony, Ike has been popular. Yes, We like Ike.
correction:
I meant to say: .................. I like Ike.
.
Doh!
lol, I hope so! Licking Ike doesn't sound very appealing. Maybe to Mamie, but not so much for anyone else;)
This I know Tony, sad thing but a true thing. I lived then. Young man named Bobby Lane out of Texas, quarterback, and a full back named Leon Heart, Joe Smit a line backer was awesome. Oh well, as they saif in Brooklyn, N.Y. around that time. Dem bums will be back next year.
At this point, the only thing that is real anymore is that delicious martini served bloodied and bruised at the DDI.
Thanks FR Team for providing this venue, complete with a virtual bar.
I’ll have a
Suck, Bang & Blow!
1 oz Jacquin's® orange flavored gin

Thanks
Holy Cow BCWC! I have a hangover already from the SB&B!
BCWC, we like you a lot but if you drink all that at one time, we'll just have to leave you on the floor for the clean up crew to walk around!
Who says I'm not on the floor already? Those drinks are pick me ups.
BCWC,
You are all set for the weekend, drink it slow.
Yep, I think Canadians and Alaskans could match each other drink for drink in a drink off! The Suck Bang and Blow had me until I got to the Jaeger! Not a fan, so will omit that if you don't mind, bcwc. Cheers!
Holy $hit! Now I know what that lawyer was drinking for breakfast when he decided to take the case of the gun owner who was pi$$ed that the gubmint was going to take his illegal guns, under the auspices of the 5th amendment that says the gubmint shouldn't be confiscating private property.
(not to give anyone any ideas, of course, but all you guys wondering how to get your meth lab equipment, or bongs, or pipes or screens back- you might want to buy this lawyer one of these drinks...)
Alaska
It is a pornographic Long Island Ice Tea, you won't taste a thing ... and soon after you won't feel a thing.
That's what.........Oh man, I could really go so so far, but as I am a "recovering slut" I will be the demure one! Oh, who am I kidding!
drive-by: They can take my bong when they can pry it out of my cold dead hands! LOL So, what's your poison? We seem to be bartenderless at the moment, but I can make you a rather racy Long Island Ice Tea, or what you prefer the Suck, Bang and Blow? Okay, I am bordering on dangerous behavior here!
AlaskaGirl . . .
There is a reason that I like you .... oh man but you'd be fun to hang out with! We seem to have a few things in common!
Alaska
the only demographic group that doesn't have a parade are sluts ... truly not fair, everyone else gets one.
This just in, Rasmussen has just come out with a poll which states Gov. Romney will win by 15%. Yes sir, sure got to love those republican leaning polls. Congratulations to president Obama on your election, and I hope the inauguration festivities will live up to the promise you bring the U.S.. FOWARD.
A.G. I am not easy, but I can be had. Pass the bong please. Here we call it medicine.
John, my pleasure.....or would that be yours?
Layton! I would so love to hang out with you, too! I think we would have some serious fun!
bcwc: Yes, maybe we could have a whole parade of Lil Michelle's, or do you prefer we call her the page 3 girl? HA!
The object is to share the pleasure, I have some pretty good medicine right now, Ol' Doc Crocker knows his meds.
I tend to hog the bong, so forgive me! Yeah, I'm getting my "prescription" filled this weekend.
BCWC, and the complicated mixture. Send a gallon to Speaker Boehner. That is a quick slurp for him before he meets his pals Johnny Walker, Jim Beam and the Old Granddad. I hear Laura is reigning in lil' Georgie or you could send a gallon down Texas way too.
Adler, I hear all he has to do is drink his bathwater in the morning and he is sloshed again.
"drive-by: They can take my bong when they can pry it out of my cold dead hands! LOL So, what's your poison?"
Been away from the keyboard. Hope it ain't too late. BUT- I like an old fashioned Harvy Wall-Banger, but with ice cream. Half a shot of Galiano, shot of Orange (i.e.Boehner) juice, shot of vodka. Scoop of vanilla Ice Cream, blend well, enjoy.
Repeatedly.
It's never too late. Ice cream? Huh. Okay.
DBO . . .
Oh MAN! Now I'm going to have that image every morning! ;-)
I'm dropping in towards the end of the party. Still, we have the whole weekend and Monday to party hardy.
Have fun everyone.
Welcome to the Dew Drop Inn. You’ll come on in and take a load off. If you get to much of a load on the Old Caretaker and Newday will give you a Sleigh ride over to the Comeback Inn to sleep it off.
Of course we are jumping about feverishly trying to put the last things in place, making sure that we have the extra Barkeeps and making sure that we are getting the Tune Machine in good working order in order to assure all of a guests of a stellar Inaugural Weekend. Wish I could tag along but you’ll know the reason that I can’t so that’s that. But much has been made of the projection that attendance will be down a little this year. Before you believe all the Pundits for the reason I urge you’ll to read this.
Earl Smith is the man behind a military patch that President Obama prizes
By Karen Tumulty
AUSTIN, Tex.— That February morning in 2008 found Barack Obama decidedly out of sorts.
He was locked in one battle with Hillary Rodham Clinton for the Democratic nomination that showed no signs of ending — and another with a vicious cold that felt the same way
As he rode the service elevator in the backway of a convention hotel here, the snowy-haired African American operating it turned suddenly. He held out a black-and-gold bit of fabric embroidered with a screaming eagle.
“Senator Obama, I have something I want to give you,” the man said. “I’ve carried this military patch with me every day for 40 years, and I want you to carry it, and itwill keep you safe in your journey.” Obama tried to refuse, but the older man persisted.
Big endeavors can find their meaning in small moments.
Later that day, Obama and his aides discussed the encounter. The future president pulled the patch from his pocket, along with about a dozen other items people had pressed upon him.
“This is why I do this,” he said.“Because people have their hopes and dreams about what we can do together.”
http://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/earl-smith-is-the-man-behind-a-military-patch-that-president-obama-prizes/2013/01/18/deec2444-5c13-11e2-beee-6e38f5215402_story.html?hpid=z2
See while attendance might be down a little bit many more like Earl Smith and I will be in attendance spiritually if not bodily.
I’m oft asked the geneses behind my support of a Presidency that at first glance wouldn’t include me in his natural constituency.
It’s quite simple really.
This President more than most in recent memory seems to be able to take off the blinders of political expediency occasionally and try to simply do what is right and the price be damned.
And I’ll tell you’ll folks you’d sooner try to Sandpaper the Nose of a Tiger in a Telephone Booth as to try and take that away from me.
As always my thanks and appreciation to our hosts for their time, giving me a little place to stand, a subject to comment on, a forum to put it in, and their indulgence when I don’t quite get it right or get a little off subject. I purely do appreciate it. Hope you’ll have a fine weekend and good fun celebrations to go to among folks that you know and love. To my fellow participants keep well, keep safe, and keep the faith. We’ll make it. See you’ll next week
A moving story IR. Thank you for sharing it with us.
IR--thanks for sharing that wonderful story; somehow I had missed it. I have never had occasion to regret my support for President Obama. I wish I could go to the Inauguration but will be there in spirit. Of course I will be at the Dew Drop Inn for the festivities this weekend. First round of champagne is on me!!
Thanks to Mark, Domenico, Andy and the rest of the FR crew for your hard work to make this site such a great place to discuss politics.
I promise that I'm really a real person--no hoax!!
P.S. JoAnne---can we play "Just My Imagination" for Te'o?
That's what you'll keep the Ol' Caretaker around for. I'm kinda like the FR lost and found and I love being able to bring something like this to a larger world. Congrats to all the Folks that are going to be able to get Downtown. Think they're talking about Flurries so make sure you bring your 'Boggin's
Great story, IR. And perfectly stated, "This President more than most in recent memory seems to be able to take off the blinder of political expediency occasionally and try to simply do what is right and the price be damned."
Have a great weekend! Since the DDI's ready, it's time to head over for some good food, a little beverage and a lot of great conversation with old friends! A toast to President Obama on the evenings before the Inauguration; a toast to Martin Luther King whose tireless, peaceful activism helped make it possible.
This President more than most in recent memory seems to be able to take off the blinders of political expediency occasionally and try to simply do what is right and the price be damned.
I agree. If I live to be a 100, there will never be a President I like as much as Barack Obama.
IR - what a beautiful story and the perfect one to remember as we move to the 2nd Inaugural. President Obama is a man that instills trust from so many people and has lived up to being a very good President. What an honor for Mr. Smith that the President hold his gift to be so dear!
IR's the man, no ifs, ands, or butts about it. How great is it, knowing people like him are still 'out there', in our midst??
Steeler Fan,
Thanks for the glass of bubbly!
Jody, I will join you in the toast to President Obama.
Does anyone know where NBC/MSNBC will be having their otuside booths in DC.?
I definitely want to stop by and see these folks in person.
I am so pumped to be part of this historic occasion and see everything in person.
A little town in MN, Fergus Falls sent their HS band to DC to be in the parade. The mayor, and police chief and other town officials led their bus to the city limit for a big sendoff.
I will be playing Aaron Copland music while I pack this evening. Getting into spirit of the weekend.
I'm another who has never had a regret for working on his first campaign for supporting him and for working for him. I was happy to vote for him then and again this past November. We don't live in a perfect world, we are not perfect people and neither is President Obama but he makes me proud every time I look at him, whether it be at an event, giving a speech, comforting citizens who suffered some unimaginable losses or when he patiently gives a press conference and answers some inane or sometimes insolent questions.
I look forward to all the festivities in our nation's capital as we look forward to four more years of level headed leadership by a man who will always try to do what's fair and what's right.
Heading over to the DDI, the place where everybody knows your name, made some Bourbon Slush for those who like their whiskey with a little kick!
Thanks to Mark and Domenico and all the crew at FR and MSNBC for your efforts to keep the conversation going and us informed. Your efforts are appreciated...very much.
Caretaker IR, please throw another log on the fire and keep a few handy so we can keep warm. Thanks for your great story, look forward to a few more as we toast the President and his lovely First Lady..for a belated Happy Birthday.
Slainte!
Northstar.........me and mine wish you a safe and wonderful trip to DC, we talked about you last night and are so happy you get to go and participate in a great historic event. We look forward to a report and lots of pictures.
DBO.....nice words for IR and we are lucky to know him and call him friend. Kinda gives you lots of hope to cope with the soulless. Great to see you here Buzz hope all is well.
Have a great weekend.
Drive-By if I get to far "out there" you may have to come out of the Treehouse and get me. Shouldn't be a problem as it looks like the little Minx you were shacked up with has left you high and dry. Haven't seen her in a month of Sundays
Thanks for the story, IR. Definitely one that hits the heart.
I'll join you all in a glass of champagne (thank you, Steeler Fan) to toast the President's second inauguration.
For those of you that are attending, enjoy and stay warm. It's been in the single digits here all week and I believe it's not going to be much warmer there. Make sure you pack extra mittens/gloves! :) (Somebody always forgets theirs!)
"This President more than most in recent memory seems to be able to take off the blinders of political expediency occasionally and try to simply do what is right and the price be damned."
Uncle Redneck, beautifully said. If I never again hear the term "wasting political capital" in respect to what the President's trying to do, it'll still be too soon.
Will you be home with your bride on Monday? If so, I'll try to give you a jingle from my cell phone at some point and you can be there in sound as well as spirit!
No Joanne sad to say I have to work. But you can call me on my cell anytime past O'dark thirty and if that doesn't work out I'm sure that my bride would be appreciative of the call. Main thing is I hope you and Northstar have a good time and represent us well and noisily.
Not sure I have your cell #, but I'd love to talk to Miss Elly any time - though I have to warn you, we'll just end up making plans for you to escort us up to Hagerstown for some lunch and some antique shopping - I hear you need some new deer for the lawn!
IR! Running out to hitch up! Been among the missing this week, but you have had some wonderful posts!
This one is excellent! A story I have never heard before.
I have been busy getting to know my granddaughter, and all else pales by comparison. Hope you all had a good week on First Read, thank you for letting us post here.
I'd try one of those drinks that black cat listed, the horses do know the way home, but I am a bit of a coward.
Oh well. Have a good weekend all. Keep the shiny side up!
To go along with IR's beautiful post, below is a three minute video of President Obama telling us what this inauguration means to him. It is terrific and a wonderful reminder of why we campaigned, donated and voted for him and why we will always have his back, just as he has had ours.
To Northstar, have a wonderful day on Monday. You & JoAnne will be in my thoughts. And I hope you both take your photos and have a photo book made that you can then pass down to children, grandchildren, etc.
Here's the video of President Obama talking about the Inauguration.
http://theobamadiary.com/
That's all I need Antique Deer to go with my Damn Deer. But Hagerstown sounds like an adventure and you know how I love my adventures. I'll send you the cell phone so's you'll have it in case the need arises......Newday can't wait until that Cherub gets big enough for a Sleigh Ride with her Uncle Redneck.
Got to go you'll. It's shot night in more than one way at my house. You'll enjoy the hospitality and watch Pat's video. As Ol' Crash said "When you speak of me. Speak well"
Floyd, my friend, you have been in mighty FINE form this week!
I'm still gonna pin your ass down for breakfast the next LRU meet up! ☺
Dont' day I didn't give you fair warning... lol
Pat Boston,
Thanks for the link to Obama diary. I am emailing it to my travel companions this evening.
My grandchildren will certainly receive their own "book "about President Obama's second inauguration. And some nice trinkets from the occasion.
Feisty, Love Chicago Deep Dish Pizza. It is the best.
" the next LRU.."
SHHHssss... LRU ... 'pose 't' be heap big secret...
Think tree house, etc...
Nahhh...
I enjoy watching them going into full blown apoplexy when we mention the "tree house" may the minions rest in peace!
Good riddence to bad trash!
Independent Redneck Va.
Senator Obama, I have something I want to give you,” the man said. “I’ve carried this military patch with me every day for 40 years, and I want you to carry it, and itwill keep you safe in your journey.” Obama tried to refuse, but the older man persisted.
Beautiful story IR
Our president carries all of our thoughts and aspirations with him daily. We couldn't have re-elected a better president!
Our President's is fighting for us. He is showing in deed. These are his words.

Words matter. When will the chicken little GOP/T-nuts learn it?
Hey, gang, since the Dew Drop Inn has the most eclectic jukebox in the world, can I start off the pre-Inauguration party today with a little Mormon Tabernacle Choir? They're the only ones I've got who seem to actually know the words to "Hail To The Chief":
"Hail to the Chief we have chosen for the nation,
Hail to the Chief! We salute him, one and all.
Hail to the Chief, as we pledge cooperation
In proud fulfillment of a great, noble call.
Yours is the aim to make this grand country grander,
This you will do, that's our strong, firm belief.
Hail to the one we selected as commander,
Hail to the President! Hail to the Chief!"

Granted, our friends down the road at The Grumpy Troll Pub (it's real - look it up!) never heard the words either - at least not the part about "we pledge cooperation".
But hey, I've got Monday off and the car is gassed up and the alarm is set for Oh-Dark-Thirty and I've got film in the camera and I am so excited I can hardly see straight. Look for me on tv! The next four years are going to be awesome - and that is MY "strong firm belief"!
JoAnne, you cracked me up today, claiming to be Te'o's girlfriend, which I know is not true, because I am his girldfriend (and I don't even like football.)
I am so excited to watch the inauguration on Monday!
JoAnne, lots of people like you this very minute are making their plans to get into DC for the Big Show. How exciting! How exciting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How many girlfriends does Te'o have?! Keeping up with you two wouldn't leave him any time to play football!
JoAnne---how great that you are representing Pennsylvania at the Inauguration. Looking forward to a complete report.
I imagine a Romney inauguration (no doubt he already had it planned) would have featured the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.
Think I'll go to Costco and watch it on a big screen.
JoAnne, LOL, the Grumpy Troll Pub! Have a wonderful time in DC, glad it worked out for you to go.
joAnne,
that is great news.
We will have to compare notes when we both return from DC.
We are going to be at a parking lot for a bus ride to the Metro sation in VA at 4:30 am on Monday... and the rest will be history.
JoAnne...did they learn the words in anticipation that Willard and Lady Ann would have been standing on the Capitol steps???
JoAnne/Alaska Girl - I recall from last week, tequila doesn't settle well with AlaskaGirl. Perhaps this will ease your pain.

Thanks, Red! Gotta love PeeWee!
Northstar -
Wish we could meet up, but if it's even half the mob scene it was last time, it'll be nuts to even try! Besides, you're the lucky one with actual tickets; I'm just hoping to get a little closer than last time, when I was at the foot of the Washington Monument and could just about see the last of the jumbotron screens - forget the Capitol steps themselves. But you know what? I wouldn't have missed it for the world. I'm planning to be at the Metro station by about that time myself - I just have to get online and figure out which one. If you end up sitting next to a very tall blonde in a 2009 Inauguration t-shirt, fake fur jacket, and bright pink chenille scarf, say hello!
Oh, JoAnne, that is quite the description! I am gonna look for you on the telly!
joAnne,
I will be looking for you.
I am the short blonde in the black wool coat, red/gray plaid scarf and sensible MN winter walking boots.
I will be wearing my MN FOR OBAMA button, from 2008.
Before I forget...my guy may not have won the election this year, but I wish nothing but the best to the President. To everyone who is venturing out to Washington DC for the inauguration have a great and safe time. :-)
If you had run, I would have cast an illegal vote or two for you.
Hey Grimey. Caps are back on the ice. We're going to have to gang up on Steeler and get her off of those rascally Penguins
Grimey, well said. Maybe you can convince your party to move a little more toward center and stop talking crazy; or as BCWC hinted, run yourself.
IR--the Penguins had an intersquad scrimmage the other night---opened the arena to fans at no charge and over 18,000 people came--it was standing room only! 200,000 watched on TV. We are ready to support our Penguins to the Stanley Cup!!
Grimey, long time no see! Hope all is well in your neck of the woods. Washington will be the safest place to be on Monday - nothing but liberals as far as the eye can see! :)
Montreal Canadians will ................... lose.
Steeler same for the Caps. First Home game is Tuesday and it is sold out. What about Sid the Kid? is he going to be in better shape than he has been.
Frank,
thanks for the well wishes.
IR---word on the street is that Sid is in the best shape of his career. Finally over the head and neck issues he's been having and wanting to make a run at MVP after watching Gino Malkin (for whom my new kitten is named) win MVP last year.
JoAnne...so happy for you that you get to go. Safe travels!!
NorthStar - don't forget those boots, the ones made for walking.
Steeler all I can say is you'll better watch out for Ovey. He's been playing right regular in Russia.........GBM you know that I always have another log to throw on the fire for one of my Aces
IR---Gino has been playing in Russia, too---they should be in good shape!!! I hope the Flyers lose!!
Go Sharks!
Don't bother.
Franzen and the Wings are going to exterminate your hockey teams.
GO WINGS!!
Does Manti Te'o know that if he sends me his bank account and routing numbers I, the King of Nigeria, will send him money?
The King of Nigeria?!?!...c'mon now...everyone knows that's a hoax. It's his most trusted general that needs a safe place to hide his money!! ;-)
Everyone have a good weekend. I wish for a safe release of our hostages in Algeria. IR I have that Anejo for your bar at DDI.
Finest kind Lisa. Bring it on down and I'll put down my Jack and Ginger and we'll toast to everybodies health and happiness. Are you back home and is everything progressing well for you'll up there?
IR, I am bringing it down so you can put down that Jack and ginger. I am back home I did pretty well after the storm but know many that lost everything. I will gladly toast to everyone's health and happiness.
Well then you'll come on doowwwnn and we'll make it so. We'll drink the first one to health and happiness and then the second one for hoping that folks get the help that they need and after that you might be on your own. That Anejo hits hard and I ain't as young as I used to be. Might not be able to stand the pressure.
IR, One Tequila, Two Tequila, Three Tequila Floor.
Here's one to health, one to happiness, one to the hipsters, one to the hopsters, one to the.... - ah hell, I'm on my fifth, I better slow down and switch to VitaMeataVegamine!!
Finest Kind I can see it now. Me wandering in about Wensday wondering wa happening
martinis are like breasts, one is too few and three are too many
RedDev I can see it now. Another lady like Betty complaining that I didn't show up for breakfast not knowing I really wandered off in a stupor and couldn't find my butt with both hands and a flashlight
BCWC/IR - you guys are slaying me!! Clean up on aisle Double D. Speaking of which, that is the preferred depth of a good martini glass. There just isn't room for olives in the Double A size glass.
Now I'm looking forward to Floyd, Betty, and Northstar donning their best PeeWee Herman platforms and leading us in a good pool table dance of Tequila. Not to worry, IR, I'll keep track of your flashlight.
RedDevPS, I would like to see them do the Limbo Rock.
Anyone here play bum darts? ... yikes and they are my neighbors
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ikt9zd9xsV0
After watching that video, I am just going to let that one sit for awhile.
bcwc...............hilarious!! New one on me.
Here's why I love minor league and independent league baseball...
Noid Don't you just love Ameurica.
IR beat me to it so I'll just say, only in America!
Da Noid Entrepreneurship is alive and well!....here in America. Love that story
As I sit here on a fine Alaskan afternoon reading the comments I am struck that all of you are getting "drunk" without me!! Damn business lunches! Okay, who is this week's bartender, for cocktail hour on the vine?
pretzels or peanuts?
bcwc - popcorn???? and nuts - but not peanuts. Okay, now I'm just getting picky!
Alaska Girl.....will set a couple aside for you and leave the light on too!
Alaska Girl. the light will be on and a couple of drinks set aside for you.
Just the light of the juke will do me fine! Would love some hot and sultry tunes! bcwc has gotten me all worked up with his drink choices!
Oh dear, I better calm Alaska down with a plate of fresh oysters.
You're a bad boy.
Alaska Girl,
Steeler Fan is buying the first round.
The time difference thing is a real pain.
but we will be ready for you when you get off work.
Thanks! No worries, the boss is gone for the day, so set me up!
bcwc: Doritos!
The whole GOP/Teabegger Congress is a huge unfortunate 'hoax' on the people of the United States Of America! Hey! Hey! Ho! Ho! The Party of NO has got to go! This is no 'hoax!'
I don't even know what to think!... There's no one hear that need no killin'?... I feel as useless as Major Payne at the military school... lol.
Actually, what a breath of fresh air!! A fine group of reasonable people. A virtual punch-bowl that you could actually drink from for once!!
I hope I have as good a week-end as some of you are obviously planning to have...
Plenty of time for the rot-wingers later.
chick binder You have simply stumbled into the Dew Drop Inn. A Friday ritual where we all set down, take a load off and try to achieve the bi -partisanship that seems to elude us the rest of the week. You come on back now you hear.
Totally agree! After this week and all the ranting and raving from the right about guns and ammo, this is just what the doctor ordered! Some good fun with some good people.
All the glue sniffing Libtards are here telling us how great things are. Ha ha yeah things are just great, Unemployment at record highs for YEAR AFTER YEAR with NO relief in sight. The country is more devided than at any time in our history, very scarey!
King Obozo is the biggest hoax ever sprung on the people of this country. I love how he is so focused {like a lazer beam} on creating jobs. ha ha what a joke!
Hoax of the year? -------King Obozo!
You should put thanks where it belongs, hows the T-Peoples Jobs, Jobs, Jobs thingy goin for ya???? Or, how bout those job bills voted against by the Rethugs? Talk about misplaced loyalties?
This has been a great thread to read, untill you get to justAbummer! Someone always has to spoil the atmosphere! Please keep your hatred to yourself! The rest of us that actually think for ourselves, know better than to listen to you Fox Noise listeners!
A hearty CONGRATULATIONS to OUR President, on your second inaugural!!!!
Now, i know i'm too late for the D.D.I. festivities, (I was a little under the weather) but i surely hope all had a great time!!!!!! Starting tonight, i will certainly toss back a few to cellabrate.
We have the very best President!!!!
HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND, ALL!!!!!!!!
Hey D Glad you dropped by anyway. Hope you get to feeling better soon but maybe a few shots and beers will help you out. Seems somebody is always willing to pee on somebody elses parade nowadays. Most of the time your better off just ignoring it because in ignoring it you show it for the irrevelancy that it is. But ever now and again you have to cut off thier Little Wee-Wees. You must of had to get out your magnifying glass and tweezers to find Ol' justaplumber's.
Hate to rain on your little feel good parade but this country is broken! The guy that got elected to fix it doesn't have a clue how to do it. Now he wants to start distroying our Constitution.
I don't feel like playing nice!
justaplumber
Will that be a Drano on the rocks or straight up with a twist of knickers?
Justaplumber I'm just curious. How much is somebody paying you to spread such ignorance. I mean somebody must be paying you because most folks don't reveal themselves as such Dumb-asses without compensation do they?Or were you just born ignorant and had a relapse to childhood.
Geez, IR, I shudder to think somebody's actually paying good money for stuff like that. Even if it's only a penny a post, they're just throwing money down the drain instead of getting any return on their investment. I mean, how many moderates and Independents do you think justaplumber just lured over to the dark side with that little "King Obozo" gem upstairs?
P.S. to justaplumber - You really need to work on your self-esteem. Plumbers are heroes! Especially at 11:00pm on a Sunday night in January when the basement is flooding. Of course, if you were something REALLY embarassing, like let's say, "justacongressman", or "justaphiladelphiaeagle", or maybe "justanotherangrybloggerwithnothingworthwhiletoaddtothedebate", well then your lack of pride would be completely understandable.
justathought, you know?
Cheers justaJoAnnePa - something tells me justadumbasssewerlinewader and his wife debbiedownerdoesdallas won't be attending the inauguration.
Aren't youall sweet. I have no self esteem trouble I compensate for any of that with the bill. ha ha If you have a car with a Obozo sticker on it you pay 2x what the normal bill would be. Works for me.
If my taxes go up again I plan on laying off again and go back to a one man operation again.
justaplumber ...
Smart move. Can't imagine anyone that would truthfully enjoy working for you.
Really--who gives a damn about this bull$hit ? Man we are really strapped for news when crap like this on the front page.
Lighten up and remember the adage ... no news is good news.
Expect the worst in leadership from the Obama administration. He's already given us four years of misery & sloth, why should anything change in the next four "get used too it"
We as a country are merely wasting our time with another collectivist experiment. It always comes around because There are Many who believe in Utopia or "Heaven on Earth". '
Which is only a fantasy driven by free will and arrogance of persons unwilling to submit to a higher power. You see everybody wants to go to Heaven but nobody want's to die. So in turn Progressive, Collectivist's are willing to destroy the hard fought for Liberty we enjoy, too create through centralized Government... the............................ Me same as You. Paradise
, Where unicorns crap little nuggets of gold that slide down a rainbow into everyone's cereal bowl and we all dance around with flowers in our hair with no responsibilities or accountability for the future, or for just the feels good in the moment mentality. tra la la, It'll all be alright I've got a four leaf clover. b/s Yes, never mind reality, who needs it, it's a downer 4ward ----->rt
It really does not effect some who plan for the future correctly,or have the ability to mitigate loss, As I do.
However the Middle class are the ones who suffer the greatest damage to prosperity during these mad-scientist experiments the progressive lefties are mixing up in there test tubes. The poor & professional welfare recipients will do as they always do. Which is get by with less, the Wealthy will cruise along as usual, the Middle class will continue to see their hopes of advancing into the upwardly mobile "not rich but not struggling to make ends meet class" being dashed on the rocks of dispair and lack
Your right General for you? and correct I'm not speaking for everyone, and your situation is not representative of everyone.
Gdp is still pathetically indigent, no where near the level for prosperity across the board.
The employment situation is apathetic at best.
Division of the people is exasperated on racial lines & by class envy, fueled by hyperbolic poly-partisan vitriol.
The Executive & Congress departments of Government don't even attempt to address the issues important to the country's fiscal future. Merely bickering endlessly over side issues to d-sway from the real challenges we face nationally. .ie debt, deficit no budget in nearly 4 years. national security issues like securing he borders, lessening our dependence on international energy consortium's & taking steps to strengthening the domestic manufacturing base to help provide equitable employment here in America.
Putting America on welfare won't fuel the Economy like Nancy Pelosi claims. EVER
This is why the nation is in the crapper like it is.. You dems are so stupid and blind.. The housing market is not any better.. Come on.. tell the truth. Jobs, my butt. People just arent looking anymore.. Obama hasnt done a darn thing about jobs. Wait til all the military come home and take all the jobs.. The crap will really hit the fan then dummies.. He is taking our guns so he can play Hitler better. All you depressed sick people better watch your back.. pretty soon we will be able to put you away. You are violent.. all of you. How many are on welfare now? gee, why does that number keep going up.. You dems are stupid and our nation will pay because you are in the White House.. Blacks better pray they voted for the right guy. You can all bring your baby mommas morals to the party.
Are you reading these comments.. This is why our nation is as it is.. More obama men.
twoann . . .
Our nation is healthier than it was 4 years ago. Your posts are what is wrong with this nation. You and your ilk and the things that hold this great country back. I'm sure you didn't hear the President today but you really should have listened. Off to Fox with you . . . .
The Media is lying to all of us.. can you really be that stupid to believe what they tell you anymore.. Hitler is in the White House.. the media says what he wants...
