Subscribe to RSSCiting his own experience as a father in the public eye, Republican New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie hammered the National Rifle Association Thursday for referencing the president's daughters in a "reprehensible" and "awful" web ad.
"To talk about the president's children or any public officers children who have -- not by their own choice, but by requirement -- to have protection, to use that somehow to try to make a political point I think is reprehensible," he said at a news conference in Trenton.
Christie, who has four children, said that his kids had "no choice, realistically" in his decision to become a public figure and themselves be subject to the media spotlight.
"I think it's awful to bring public figures' children into the political debate," he said. "They don't deserve to be there. And I think for any of us who are public figures, you see that kind of ad and you cringe."
The web ad, released Tuesday night, questions the president's skepticism of the NRA's proposal to put armed guards in every school in America even though the First Family has Secret Service Protection.
"Are the presidents’ kids more important than yours?” a narrator asks in the short video.
Christie, who was criticized by some on the right for praising the president in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, is up for re-election this year. He is commonly cited as a possible 2016 presidential contender for the GOP.
The popular governor said Thursday that the controversial advertisement undermines the NRA's credibility as an advocate for gun rights.
"Don’t be dragging people’s children into this,” he said. “It’s wrong and I think it demeans them and it makes them less of a valid trusted source of information on the real issues that confront this debate."

Christie, and others who are slamming the NRA over its reference to Obama's children, are refusing to see (or refusing to admit that they see) that the ad isn't about Obama's kids, it's about Obama's hypocrisy. The NRA is not responsible for the fact that when it comes to his children, Obama believes his children are more worthy of armed protection than the children of just about everyone else.
Hippocrites dont like it when you point out their hypocrisy,and I would guess that Tubby is no exception.His kids are probably well taken care of,and the other folks in NJ can suck on it awhile while their kids swing.
This would be the same dirgible that lowered the state flag for the stoned dope addict that drowned in the bathtub?

I'm just gonna not post on these places anymore, take a look around Obama owns everything Rosey and her anti gun buddys were on my home page for days, but the march by gun owners isn't anywere to be found.The only articles i can find are Obama's articles.All his followers @!$%# em let them win.I can see it now they will be dancing in the streets enjoying the pleasure of stripping someone else of their right's.I live in the North woods of Maine i got a couple million acres of land to run around on. I'll be free no matter what these communists do.Can't wait to see Obamma bring in the UN.Wont be long before these people pay the price for their choices.My family served this country since the war for independance my sons 17 he wants to go into the military after high school like i did,his grandfather did,his great grandfather and all his great uncles did.I told him today, a people who so willingly throw away the rights given them don't deserve your service.Let the spineless worms do it themselves.IMO none of you anti gun people are worthy of my son.I won't let any member of my family give up their rights and freedoms to defend the rights of you people again.I had my son sit with me we looked at pictures of everyone in our family who sacrificed then i showed him all the comments here and comments in several other anti gun articles he agreed you people arn't worthy of our service.
Governor Christ has been revealing his true strips for some time. He isn't a conservative nor does he represent a conservative side. He only uses what is convenient at the moment and is just another NJ mobster. Don't be fooled by him as he is a true self serving monster.

Christie put almost 100 corrupt NJ politicians into jail when he was the DA and really cleaned up one of the most corrupt states.......does that sound like a mobster to you?

Christie is a stand up guy. He doesn't let either party dictate his decisions....he is truly a politician who cares about the people and only does things because he truly believes they are right. I hope he runs in 2016. Our country could really use him!!
It's a good question. If we don't need armed protection for our children, do away with all armed protection for all children. I personally think we should have armed guards on all school campuses. With weapons of mass destruction. Blow the person to kingdom come that comes onto a school campus with intent to harm children and teachers. It only has to happen one time!
Only days after the inauguration, both Hillary and Christie are tossing their hats in the ring, with Christie distancing himself from the GOP, and the NRA checkbook.
The NRA ad is not far off point, and does not target the Obama children or their father.
The point is....The people charged with the daunting task of protecting the President's children choose high capacity, full auto weapons by the score for this duty. Is your child not as worthy ? In these hyper gun sensitive times, no pro-gun message will be unchallenged.
Not an AD I would have made but It's true, why are his kids anymore important than mine????? He started out like the rest of us he chose to go into politics to Lie, cheat and steal legally.As far as Christie, he is just sucking up right now he's up for relection typical politics.
