NBC/WSJ poll: Nearly 70% approve of Hillary Clinton's job

As Hillary Clinton concludes her four-year tenure as secretary of state, a whopping 69 percent approve of her job, according to a new NBC/WSJ poll.

That includes 92 percent of Democrats, 64 percent of independents and even 41 percent of Republicans who approve of her job.

Just 25 percent disapprove of her job.

That 69 percent approval rating is higher than any other outgoing secretary of state measured in a survey since 1948 -- with one exception: Colin Powell, whose approval rating was at 77 percent per a late 2004 Fox News/Opinion Dynamics poll.

This NBC/WSJ poll comes after Clinton -- a potential 2016 presidential candidate -- was hospitalized for a blood clot. It also comes after her State Department was criticized for the attack on the U.S. diplomatic mission in Benghazi.

The full NBC/WSJ poll -- which was conducted Jan. 12-15 -- is released at 6:30 pm ET.

A white woman and a black Republican winning would cause a simultaneous mass stroke amongst 47% of this country... lol

I'm undecided as to which of them would be my preference.

Agree about Glenn fookin' Beck - and Stewart/Colbert power punches. * Also note that when Lee saw Stonewall Jackson's wounds near Spotsylvania he said (approx) "You have lost your left arm, ...I have lost my right." High drama in the real world bcwc.

Hillary Clinton has done a superb job as SoS. She cleaned up the mess left by the previous Administration and regained the respect and admiration that we have enjoyed until 2001 and into 2009. She went to places who had never seen a US SoS before and was constantly on the go. I concur with the suggestion that Hillary run for POTUS in 16 and she pick Colin Powell as her Veep. They's sure have my vote. I like both of them. Too bad Powell was mixed up with Dubya's Administration or he might have been able to be in the #1 spot instead of possible for #2.

Obama's leadership qualities and intelligence have never been called into question except by the same tinfoil-hatted 'patriots' who inhabit your alternate reality. We note with amusement that on alternating days, you and your comrades call this President a 'dictator', a 'king', and compare him to Hitler, except when you're calling him 'wishy-washy' and trying to portray him as vacillating and weak.

Don't you ever get whiplash trying to keep up with the people who tell you what your deepest convictions are from day to day?

As many Texans, including your humble scribe, will readily attest, George W. Bush was a man so weak and so dumb, he wasn't even really credible as a puppet; this is why you'll so often see us Lefties referring to 'the corrupt Cheney administration'.

History will be much kinder to President Obama than it's been so far to President Cheney and his sock puppet, George What's-his-mug.

Sorry to put a damper on your entheusiasm folks, but if Hillary Clinton were to become POTUS the Repubs would turn on her in an instant. They hated her then (as FLOTUS) they hate her now (just want her to run again to gin up the haterbase) and will hate her if she becomes POTUS. They hate all Dems, even Blue Dogs. They live and love to hate all who do not bow before their (all too) "common" wisdom. Besides, VPOTUS Biden has proven that He should be the next President. The American people were ready to ignore race and heritage when electing President Obama (twice) and they will certainly elect a woman, especially a warrier like Senator, Sec. of State Clinton, if she is the Democratic nominee. The American public are not the problem. The problem is the idiot-infested Republican Congress and their willingness to commit any foul, regardless of the consiquences to themselves, America or even the Earth, to try to keep the ball in their court. There are plenty of great Women in the pipeline (and more great Blacks, Hispanics, Asians and others too). Just because SOS Clinton is highly capable, well prepared and deserving does not mean she would make for the most effective leader while the Repuglythons are (hopefully) in their death throes, as that's when they could be the most dangerous. Much depends on the Supreme Court in the next four years. I, for one, would have preferred H. C. to B. O. in '08 (though she's even better prepaired now) as I didn't think B.O. had aged in the cask sufficiently at that time and was too susceptable to the Racial inanity of the RWNJ's. He has matured quickly though and I have high hopes for what we may be able to accomplish this term if the American Public can put enough pressure on Congress to tamp the crazies a bit (a tough job until (hopefully) '14)). If not, however, though he'd probably deferr to H.C. for history's sake, my bet for '16, to get stuff done, Would be a President Biden. Sorry, I can't believe Gen. Powell was uninformed enough to know he was shoveling scat to the U.N. (I did at the time and I'm no intelligence wonk) which, to me means he was sucked in to the whole "Demcratize the Middle East using 911 PNAC" mindset, and though he has since recanted to a degree, he missed his moment in History. Support Public Education, it's our only hope over ignorance.

A Reporter recently asked Bill Clinton about Hillary's head. He replied, "she's no Monica".

So in other words she would have a WAY higher rating if the GOP were not allowed to vote. If Obama had appointed GOD to that job the GOP would still give a LOW approval rating. Face it, they have been useless spiteful pricks since Obama took office.

When and if the truth of Benghazi ever comes out, she might not be so highly regarded as candidate for leader of the once-free world.

Where has she shown leadership skills? Libya, Syria, Egypt, Iran, China? It is so easy to find her mistakes, were are her accomplishments? We need someone who's ideal of foreign policy is not watching TV of Americans getting killed.

She should take a year off and rest, the only way we will notice a difference is less dead Americans.

I wonder how people could have a real indication of whether she has done a good job or not.

Personally I can say that I like her more now than I did before, but what has she accomplished?

                      Anyone???

How come I never get polled ??? Oh thats right its a girl thing. They only polled Women. Thats means 31 % of the women do not approve of her performance. How did they come up with 25 % disapproval ? Something don't add up here.
