The White House is hitting back at the National Rifle Association for its web video, which refers to President Obama's children.
"Most Americans agree that a president's children should not be used as pawns in a political fight," White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said in a statement. "But to go so far as to make the safety of the president's children the subject of an attack ad is repugnant and cowardly."
Here's the transcript of the NRA's ad:
"Are the president’s kids more important than yours? Then why is he skeptical about putting armed security in our schools when his kids are protected by armed guards at their school? Mr. Obama demands the wealthy pay their fair share of taxes. But he’s just another elitist hypocrite when it comes to a fair share of security. Protection for their kids. And gun-free zones for ours.”

I WONDER IF THE WHITE HOUSE WILL FIND THIS "REPUGNANT" ?
Supreme Court opens door to another challenge to Obama eligibility on February 15th...
January 14, 2013/â RedFlag
Chief Justice John Roberts Schedules A Case Regarding Obamas Forged IDs to be Heard in Conference Before the Full Supreme Court.
The case titled Noonan, Judd, MacLeran, Taitz v Bowen provides a mountain of evidence of Barack Obama using a last name not legally his, forged Selective Service application, forged long form and short form birth certificate and a Connecticut Social Security number 042-68-4425 which was never assigned to him according to E-Verify and SSNVS. Additionally, this case provides evidence of around one and a half million invalid voter registrations in the state of California alone.
More from Huffington Post: Taitz's case argues that Obama is using false identification, a fake last name, a false Social Security number and forged birth certificates, and Selective Service applications to run for president. She originally filed the lawsuit against California Secretary of State Debra Bowen (D) in her attempt to prevent California's electoral votes from being counted and to prevent Vice President Joe Biden from counting the electoral votes earlier this month.
A federal judge in California dismissed this case last week. Taitz likened her current case to Watergate.
"Please, keep in mind, Richard Nixon was reelected and sworn in, but later was forced to resign as a result of Watergate. over 30 high ranking officials of Nixon administration including Attorney General of the United States and White House Counsel were indicted, convicted and went to prison," Taitz wrote on her website.
"ObamaForgery gate is a hundred times bigger then Watergate. More corrupt high ranking officials, US Attorneys, AGs and judges were complicit, committed high treason by allowing a citizen of Indonesia and possibly still a citizen of Kenya Barack Hussein Obama, aka Barack (Barry) Soebarkah, aka Barack (Barry) Soetoro to usurp the U.S. Presidency by use of forged IDs and a stolen Social security number."
Please ... go crawl back under your rock.
Wow. I just read more about this case. I have to wonder if people like "AKA Barry Soetoro" live independent, normal lives. I mean seriously - to sit around and not only believe that stuff but to go around "spreading the gospel" like that really speaks to a high degree of insanity. How about it, AKA - is someone looking after you? Are you capable of simple tasks like bathing, preparing meals, etc..? I'm really curious.
ConTard moron
The NRA is going the same direction as the teabags. Down. There's just not that many stupid people in this country, and even they are starting to catch on to the nonsense.
Actually, every single person who voted for that scum, Obama, IS a stupid person. A VERY stupid person.
I rest my case
Personal responsibility, politicians with morals and balancing the federal budget are what TEA BAGGERS stand for. By your comment I assume you are against these same things????? I know FACTS are never used by Liberals because they set examples as to why their own agenda is so crazy. If you look at crime statistics, a vast majority of criminals are DEMOCRAT voters.
After Obamas kids and the secret service leave, this school still has armed security on their payroll. He could have put thousand back to work as school security guards. I'm sure thee are a few law enforcement, and military vets looking for jobs (still).
No more Tax. Nah, there isnt anyone looking for a job any longer. The Republicans promised in 2010, that if they were elected, they would produce more jobs than the United States could handle Well, they were elected, so I suppose no one any longer needs a job.
The problem with the NRA is not that they oppose any and all gun control measures. The problem, for them and others totally unaffiliated with them, is that they know that government doesn't know when to stop - and this is not just gun control. No one, including the NRA, would be opposed to rational background checks as long as that was the extent of it. But we all know, both pro and anti-gun sides, that government will not stop here. Next is waiting times, then registration of the owner, then registration of the weapon, then auditing, then... For many who oppose guns, this would all be fine and dandy - freedoms restricted are fine as long as they are not mine. For all too many "sensible" gun control advocates, "responsible" gun laws are what they can reasonably force through now - with the ultimate intent of restricting the 2nd Amendment until it is essentially neutered. Again, freedoms restricted are fine as long as they are not mine. Remember, no one talked about banning the incandescent light bulb when the discussion on saving energy started. If government knew when to stop I suspect that much of the distrust of it would diminish... But, on the positive side, going after criminal gun traffickers is an absolute plus - other than the fact the "Fast and Furious" ATF will be tasked with this. At least their job will be simplified to the extent all they need to do to find the inept ones will be to look into the mirror.
When those "freedoms" come with the huge blood price that the lack of gun control has cost the United States and its citizens, I'm all for restricting them. I grew up with guns, have shot more of them than I can count, and have owned them, too. No more. It's not worth it. I will never own another handgun for sure, nor probably any other firearm, either. I loved my shooting days, but this country has a serious gun problem and it's long past time to address it.
Why are we even talking about the NRA? The KKK has ten times more members and we don't give them the national spotlight everyday.
75%+ of current NRA paid members don't agree with their management or policies.
Totally not true. The NRA has 4 million members- so by your twisted logic there are 40 million Klan members? Ridiculous. According to the liberal SPLC the Klan number is around 3,000 or so "active Members" The are 70,000 gang members in Chicago alone. Why not worry about that. Futher, where do get the 75% of NRA members don't agree with the leaders? Geez get some facts first before you post.
To those of you calling the President's call to protect American children in schools fraudulent because his children get Secret Service protection: what you are committing is called a false analogy. In order for an analogy to be logically honest, the elements being compared have to be similar. Secret Service agents--fully trained, vetted, and psychologically fit are not comparable to ill-trained, unexamined, and potentially dangerous "patriots" who demonstrate a hefty degree of paranoia and no ability to think logically. In addition, the President's children are patently at greater risk because of their high profile--to say nothing of their race (unfortunately).
People are calling for officers to be stationed in schools not any blowhard off the street. The analogy is no different, any armed guards in schools will be heavily trained and vetted.
I must agree with the White House statement on this point. The NRA ad was appalling and in ridiculously poor taste, even by their admittedly low standards.
While some like to demonize pro-Second Amendment group and even call it prejudiced, it turns out the NRA was in fact started by two Union generals in 1871 as a means to driving out the Ku Klux Klan and ensuring that blacks, who although then-free were not allowed means with which to defend themselves — could in fact legally own a gun.
With that in mind, it's a terrible shame what they've become today, isn't it?
Ditto...
What's repugnant is a president - ANY president - who uses executive orders to abridge our Constitutional rights in any way, shape or form. He is ADMITTEDLY doing this to bypass Congress because he knows he doesn't have the support he needs. And bypassing Congress in this way makes a mockery out of our system and tramples all over our Constitution. He MUST be impeached or there is simply no use pretending any longer that we still live in a free republic.
And what about Bush? Who used "signing orders" to modify the Congressional bills he signed? In effect line item vetoes, which the Supreme Courts has ruled unconstitutional. But he did them anyway. Now please tell us again about Executive Orders, which Bush also abused.
You supported Bush when he did the same thing, and worse. And now you have a problem with Obama? Please tell us why this dichotomy.
Were you this bothered when Bush signed any of his hundreds upon hundreds of executive orders? Obama isn't foolish enough to overreach here, I assure you. He will do what the Constitution and legal precedent allow him to do. He will do no more than what he is legally able to do. Congress will be tasked with doing more, because whatever executive orders the president can sign will not be nearly enough to really address the gun violence epidemic in the United States.
Was the Secret Service protection for the daughters of President Bush a problem for the NRA? I don't recall it at the time. Did that make Bush an "elitist"? It's Bush who's the Texas oil millionaire, who went to Harvard on his father's legacy rather than on academic merit while others more worthy were denied admission, who joined secret Harvard organizations open only to the elite, not to someone without money like Obama.
The Republican Party is all about who's elite, and who's not. And the pathetic wannabees who think if they pledge themselves to being Republican, they'll get to be elite, too. It's a big networking, glad-handing, self-serving conspiracy, detached from the principles of democracy. I'll get mine, and to Hell with you. Selfishness, thy name is Republican.
Yeah, not too many compassionate republicans.... I have to agree, although there must be some out there.... somewhere.....?
Let me correct you, W first went to YALE as his father did, not Harvard. He was a member of the Skull and Bones at Yale It was later we went to Harvard to get his MBA, the only US President to do so. Clinton daughter gets SS protection as does Amy Carter- big deal. And don't for one minute believe those covered under affirmative action did not get into elite schools with lower academic standing than others CHARLIE- Yes, I am a compassionate Conservative
NRA is a disgrace. It will not permit reasonable discussion or debate. Much like many of its ardent followers...
I suggest that until the NRA becomes reasonable and sheds its "our way or the highway" propoganda... it should not be invited to the negotiating table.
The NRA is just America's version of the Taliban. Witness Kahunahammer above. Sociopaths, extremists & tiny dick deadenders. Unfortunately they've taken hold in the media and many churches, thus acquiring an air of respectability & acceptability. They are neither respectable nor acceptable. They are a cancer on our society, just like the Taliban.
I am going to regret this, but I have some basic questions:
Why do we allow unrestricted sales of assault weapons at gun shows with ZERO background checks, YET we prohibit police officers from carrying anything more than a pistol and a shotgun?
Why do we allow gangbangers to have more powerful weapons than cops?
Why will we now allow teachers to carry guns in the classroom but not allow them to discipline or spank our kids?
It's pretty simple really:
When guns are around, innocent people die at a MUCH higher rate than if they're not.
But God forbid anyone talk about laws restricting access to these killing machines.
It good to see the cold dead hands NRA minions are out in force today.
1. Nobody is going to take your little guns away from you. Nobody besides Limbaugh and the NRA said they want to, even though they don't.
2. You are no match if the government were to come after you. RIP, you won't be missed.
3. If they wanted to they would have zero issue with prying your gun from your cold dead, stiff fingers.
4. Your hatred of PRESIDENT Obama is pathological and is out of control. You need to calm down. I'm pretty sure why this is and it has zero to do with guns.
I get a laugh everytime I see "pry my gun from my cold dead hands" bumper stickers. Hey, if that's the way you want it... Go for it. That logic works for me!!
I own guns too. But I am not a lunatic... crazed by this legislation. The NRA has a ring through the noze of its followers. So does Rush, Faux News, et. al.
Get a life NRA'ers... My guess is that you are a VERY SMALL part of the US population. The only voice you have is the loudest voice. And its not a voice of reason...
The NRA chose long ago with their spokesman (Thatnks Charlton Heston) to get tougher with a "to hell with everyone else" mantra. Well... that's paying small dividends these days.
I am dead set against the NRA until it changes its approach to reasonable debate and serious discussion. In the meantime, take a hike.
This statement pretty much sums up the NRA themselves..the most disgusting group formed and the most hypocritical of all.
RepublicansForObama-6186389 - You are an idiot. Why were you not shouting for "BOX-CUTTERS" to be banned, after all isn't that what the 9/11 terrorists used to kill 1000s of Americans? If you look at History to find the violent group of people that commit violence more than any other group, you will find LIBERALS lead the way head and shoulders above right leaning conservatives. Once again FACTS get in the way of a liberal's point and proves that 99% of what liberals say should be ignored.
If liberals are so bent out of shape to not have guns, then be an example and put a sign in your front yard saying - THIS HOUSE HAS NO GUNS! Practice what you preach for a change, unlike Al Gore and his GREEDY CARBON FOOTPRINT HYPOCRISY. Then see how quickly you are visited by a fellow democrat in the middle of the night.
I'm glad the NRA is revealing it's true nature.
I do believe it was Obama that used children in the add, not the NRA so what was said of the NRA is what should be said of Obama.
dmallet. Obama did use children in his ad first, but the NRA used children in there ad. Turn about is fair play. I have as much right to protect my children as Obama has a right to protect his children. Obama is wrong on this issue.
The president was repugnant for surrounding himself with children and families from Newtown during his speech. He was using others to drive a point. Just like the NRA was doing.
I don't believe for a minute that the entire NRA organization is "repugnant". I'm a lifetime member of that organization and I pray that neither my family or friends find me repugnant simply because of that. I do believe however that the current leader(s) of the NRA, based on their recent statements and actions, are being both repugnant and hypocritical. I, and most all current and future NRA members are fully aware of the problems of starting with a "justified" ban on certain types of weapons and magazines and how that could "mushroom" into future bans that may infringe on our second amendment rights. Having said that, I also believe the the Supreme Court would not permit those rights to be trampled on, by this or any future administration. The bottom line is that, while I personally appose most any type of gun control legislation, I believe that we must do something to attempt to negate this type of senseless slaughter of our children and I know of no sportsman or hunter that takes or would reguire either assautl rifles or 30 round clips to enjoy their sport.
Oh my God... THAT's the NRA's argument? They're as hysterical as a good portion of (but not all) the gun nuts who comment on these articles. I'm actually a little embarrassed for them. That's toddler logic at work.
This is a pretty low blow by the NRA- must be a sign they're getting desperate.
They're definitely coming to take away your guns now! lol!
Like I tell before, the NRA are crazy evil people, close to satanist followers, but they workship to the MONEY, MONEY, MONEY meanwhile the blood running for the floor, he admit be crazy "Call me crazy" in bright light
The NRA really likes to play on peoples ignorance.
It amazes me still how outspoken the uneducated entitlists are nowadays. I hope they are the first to go when the world ends, so the rest of us can spend time taking care of ourselves for once.
Dave, I misread your statement and edited this post. I take back what I said to you.
