It is interesting how when we start talking about the benefits that Obamas kids have in regards to security, better school that they attend or anything to call out the obvious it becomes a "cowardly" act. So does that mean that the president is better than me(even thought I am paying him to be president)? Does that mean that his kids are better than mine for going to a private school with armed guards? My kids go to DC public school with no guards(not even a flash light cop). For you idiot democrats who voted for him for the wrong reasons. Something for you to think about(maybe the NRAs commercial makes sense).

I have been a registered republican since 1968. I have never seen a more disfunitial congress in my life, all because of a fringe elietest group of tea baggers. This President has faced more adversity, in natural disasters, the almost certain collapse of the enconomy than any Presiden in history. Yet the exremists on the right have done everything in their power to block everything he & Biden has tried to do. It is way past time we realize the racial predjuice in this country (I'm cacuasin by the way). The large part of the republican party can't grasp that we have a black man as president who is smarter than them. 30 members of congress shouldn't be able to over rule the other 505 members. I really believe Boehner wants to work with the POTUS, he just isn't capable of reigning in the cacus of the tea baggers. Mitch McConnell stated his state of mind, do nothing to help serve the country if it makes the President look good. He needs to go back to his hillybilly state of Ky. & retire. Lead, follow, or get he hell out of the way. He has done none of the three. In his own words; " my main objective is to make Obama a one term president". Am through with the NRA. Burning my card and will not be a part of their ELITIST regime. Having common sense rules/laws regarding firearms is long overdue. I own several guns and will keep them. I just don't find it necessary to have an assault weapon and only have standard clips for my handguns. Who, but a military person in the middle of a war zone, needs an assault rifle? or a clip carrying more than 10 rounds? So proud we have a President who will help the people thru this ordeal. Yes, it will be an ordeal and hope others will join in the fight against the NRA's unsophisticated and backward ideology.

I am in total agreement with the NRA ad because it is very true. King....I mean President Obama and all the other gun hating liberals are such hypocrites. They stand and preach about keeping our kids safe in schools and yet, just as the NRA points out, the schools where (not just King Obama but all the D.C. powers to be send their kids,have armed secret service AND armed security officers in place as well. Cuomo, Emmanuel, Feinstein....they all talk of how guns are evil and should be banned, yet they too hide behind their armed security teams. C'mon people let's get real, are you really that stupid to think that because they pass laws against guns that nobody is going to have them? The war on drugs seems to be going really well doesn't it? It appears that nothing has truly been done in the wake of this alleged Newtown shooting. Nothing was mentioned about how we will address mental illness, the obvious problems of Lanza & the Aurora shooter. No new bans placed on video games which in my mind desensitizes human death and mudrer for the young and mentally challenged. Everyone always wants to blame a gun. I've heard the argument that the sole purpose of a gun is to kill, I will agree somewaht and say to you that a weapon is designed to maim, kill, mutilate and destroy. But guess what, if you lay that weapon on a table, and nobody touches that weapon for 10,000 years and beyond. That weapon will never harm or kill any person or object. One more thing, why is it just firearms that everyone is so intent on banning? why not the bow & arrow also?

The thing is that more people are saved with guns by percentage rates then people killed and at what point do the guns that are used to kill actually obtained by purchaseing them they are more then likely stolen. But still that doesnt mean you shouldn't regulate how they are bought but de creasing the magazine is still less likely to help and more likely to piss people off.

Taking guns from real criminals and prosecuting strawbuyers makes sense. After that the President is crossing a line he should not.

i like how they say most american's favor gun bans, and how our elected officails should listen to the polls..well that isn't quite correct...i voted my representitive in to listen to our states needs not what the rest of the country wants..i could care less what the state next door does..if they took a poll in the state where i live it would be 90% against gun laws and more rules..and that is the poll each congressmen or senator should be listening to. period

As I read through these posts I saw a lot of attacking of believes and how one another interpreted comments. I had not seen the web video so I searched and watched it. The video doesn't attack anyone, it doesn't attack the presidential children, it does state a question and can be construed as a minor attack on the president's believe that his children's safety outweighs the safety of every other American's child but what I saw and heard does not even do that... What it does is state a fact... Children of the president receive armed guards around the clock. It does not tell you that the president does not have a choice in this. The simple fact is that the president's children receive 24 hour armed guards to prevent them from being kidnapped and them being used as pawns to lower the security of the nation. There are big business men and women out there who have the same thing set up for their children and many (even closest friends) do no know it. My children go to school where there is a sheriff's deputy in the school at all times, they have their service weapon but the clip is not in the weapon (though it is easily accessible to the deputy) and the deputy is stationed at the entrance to the school (but does do rounds occassionally). This doesn't seem to bother any of the parents. I have talked with many, some of whom are extremely anti-gun, and they all have had the same basic feeling of security for their child because of this fact. The media has helped contribtute to the word of "attack" when it comes to this ad. Do I believe that the NRA should have expounded more on the information... Yes. Do I believe they attacked the children... No. Either way this tit for tat action on both sides is juvenile and only contributes to the lessening of the cohesion in our country. Both sides need to grow up, quite the name calling and picking or go to their room; no TV, x-box, phone, etc etc... When they can act like adults and get their job done without acting like 5 year olds they can come out.
