Obama to deliver State of the Union on Feb. 12

President Barack Obama will deliver the first State of the Union address of his second term on Feb. 12, House Speaker John Boehner's, R-Ohio, office said Friday.

The speaker extended the customary invitation to the president to deliver the speech on Tues., Feb. 12., the birthday of President Abraham Lincoln.

President Barack Obama hosts a bipartisan meeting with Congressional leaders in the Roosevelt Room of White House to discuss the economy in this file photo with Speaker of the House John Boehner.

Boehner wrote in his letter:

Our nation continues to face immense challenges, and the American people expect us to work together in the new year to find meaningful solutions. This will require a willingness to seek common ground as well as presidential leadership. For that reason, the Congress and the Nation would welcome an opportunity to hear your plan and specific solutions for addressing America’s great challenges. Therefore, it is my privilege to invite you to speak before a Joint Session of Congress on February 12, 2013 in the House Chamber of the U.S. Capitol Building.

Thank you for your consideration, and I look forward to your response.

Obama's speech is sure to include elements touching on the upcoming battle with congressional Republicans over taxes, spending and entitlements -- an outgrowth of the "fiscal cliff" deal at the beginning of this month. The president has also previously said that the recommendations from Vice President Joe Biden's gun violence task force would be part of his State of the Union speech.

Good time to read a book. Can't stand a mouth that utters nothing but lies and double-speak.

Do you have a list of things he's lied about?

    #55.1 - Sat Jan 12, 2013 6:39 PM EST

    for starters, Karl.............

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America's debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a Sign that the US Government cannot pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government's reckless fiscal policies. ...Increasing America's debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that 'the buck stops here'. Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and Grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better."

SENATOR BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA, MARCH 2006

and every bill will be posted online 5 days..........................

and I will have the most transparent adminstration.......................

Too many things to continue.....get it yet?

Nice. This has to be like the 5th time they've let that guy give the State of the Union speech. Whatever happened to just giving it once, like the republicans did? Figures, dumb libtard sheeple don't have anyone else to do the speech.

Is anyone looking into whether Obama's real father is Frank Marshall Davis?

You might want to watch "Dreams From My REAL Father" because there is some compelling information in this video!

As a conservative American who is low to middle income, I hope the President and the Democrats come to the table with a fix to get our social security and medicare programs in line with our revenue. This would truly help our country and it's future. I am ready to help pay our deficit even though I will have to work longer.

            Reply#60 - Sat Jan 12, 2013 7:14 PM EST

I wish that was all possible too....but everything Obama has said and has done tells us that ANY new revenue will be directed right back out the door to any number of "investments".

Whether you support that or not, he has made it very clear that NO NEW REVENUE will be used to pay down the debt, or reduce the deficit.

Sorry my friend, because I hate giving bad news to good people :-)

State of the union is strong. Wonderful. Obama has addressed lack of jobs, obamacre, closed guantanamo, addressed foreclosures, stopped meddling in ME, reduced the deficit, and the list of accomplishments goes on. So he should be proud to address state of the union to the American people and honestly say, yeap, I did it.

By the way, is feisty still working for nbc? she is always the first to know about obama news.

Can't wait to hear his BS snow job this time around. Let me guess, everything good that has happened (you will have to use your vivid imagination on that one) is his doing but all the bad stuff is of course on the republicans. Well Mr. President, just two questions for the man in charge. Where are all the damn jobs you promised four years ago and why is our national debt increasing by a trillion dollars for every year you sit in the oval office?

How ironic that NBC is the main sponsor of the world's largest gun show, SHOT 2013.

"We've participated in the SHOT Show for several years as part of our commitment to our outdoor programming block," NBC spokesman Greg Hughes told USA TODAY on Friday.

Some thoughts on what President Obama WON'T mention during his speech:

              1. The debt ceiling

              2. The projected $1 Trillion deficit for this year

              3. How ineffective the tax increase on the top 1.5% was

              4. His role in the current debacle that is our budget (i.e., he won't accept any blame)

              5. How his name calling and villifying of the other side has contributed to the acrimony in Congress

Higher gas prices , less jobs , very poor foreign policy , no budget in four years , higher health care insurance rates , middle class income down by $4000.00 per year , welfare cost sky high , more people with less money but more food stamps , no new housing just old resale's , more troops dying in Afghanistan everyday , economic growth rate less than 2% from 2008 5.5% , green job failure at tax payer expense , education on the decline worse than 2008 , most costly regulation in the nations history , this is the state of our union a wonderful example of what democrat rule will get us . But cheer up we will have four more years to finish the job .

You can bet you won't see Obama and his fellow libtard followers talking about how all of France is protesting against his new gay laws. And you can bet he won't talk about how his laws as senator of Indiana lead to having those horrible gang rapes on the buses there. No, he'll just whine on and on about how he stopped the economic meltdown, saved the auto industry, got everyone health care, got us out of Iraq, blah blah blah...

Are we any better off than we were 4 years ago? Feck no.. This lame duck fecker is going to decimate the middle class. First he's gotta take all those guns away so there is no chance of a rebellion. Then he will tax your arse to kingdom come, give you 15% ethanol gas, obamacare, and tell you everything is going to be OK.

Now Obama has to declare the state of the union , in other words how things are. Now here is where we stand pure and simple . When Obama took office in 2008 unemployment 5.5% he turned into 14%, gas prices $1.80 per gal now it is $3.90 per gal. and 4000 jobs lost when Obama shut down drilling in the Gulf , economic growth rate in 2008 was 4-5 % now it's less than 1.5% , middle class income in 2008 grew at $2500 per year now for the last four years it is down $4000 per year , increased food stamps more people on welfare 47% to be exact you know that Obama voter , foreign policy a disaster troops deaths in Afghanistan , the Taliban and Al Queda in 2008 almost destroyed many were killed in Iraq , Benghazi A disaster , Iran in 2008 were 15 years away from a nuke now great progress has been made they will have a nuke by spring . now there is so much more but a blind man can see how bad the state of this union is and this folly all happened under our fool Obama , but the bad news is there will be four more years of this type of decline.
