John Boehner’s speaking out to the Wall Street Journal’s Stephen Moore. Maybe this was the talking point the president was getting annoyed with: Boehner says Obama believes “that massive federal deficits stem from what Mr. Obama called ‘a health-care problem.’ Mr. Boehner says that after he recovered from his astonishment—‘They blame all of the fiscal woes on our health-care system’—he replied: ‘Clearly we have a health-care problem, which is about to get worse with ObamaCare. But, Mr. President, we have a very serious spending problem.’ He repeated this message so often, he says, that toward the end of the negotiations, the president became irritated and said: ‘I'm getting tired of hearing you say that.’”
Boehner even contends that Obama’s immovable and unwilling to take on spending: "He's so ideological himself, and he's unwilling to take on the left wing of his own party.”
Boehner said bluntly: "I need this job like I need a hole in the head."
Just saying, but no one forced Boehner to run for speaker.
By the way, Roll Call reports, the “Boehner coup attempt” was “larger than first thought.” “A concerted effort to unseat Speaker John A. Boehner was under way the day of his re-election to the position, but participants called it off 30 minutes before the House floor vote, CQ Roll Call has learned. A group of disaffected conservatives had agreed to vote against the Ohio lawmaker if they could get at least 25 members to join the effort. But one member, whose identity could not be verified, rescinded his or her participation the morning of the vote, leaving the group one person short of its self-imposed 25-member threshold. Only 17 votes against Boehner were required to force a second ballot, but the group wanted to have insurance.”

Anyone that listens to this man has to be ready for the loony bin, he is clearly the worst speaker in history, and the right wing nuts are proud to reelect him to the post. Says a lot about the right wing and the republican party. Boner, the president is right, the health care system is banging the budget, we pay more then twice as much for our health care then any other nation on earth. Yet our system is rated dismally at 38th in the world in the area of quality of care, which by the way is calculated by results such as longevity, birth rates, return visits to hospitals and such. Another problem is defense department. I like my Social Security and Medicare. It gives me comfort in my old age and doesn't need to be changed to weaken it in any way. Stop trying to destroy it with your hateful legislation.
If wages would have increased as health cre premiums have increased in the last 25 years I would be making $200 an hour in wages. I keep hearing from some on this board the because of the ACA health care premiums will go up by double digits, well there is sure nothing new about that, that has happened for many years.
Maybe instead of stating the obvious the speaker could offer DETAILED solutions. the Speaker is in a position that should be proactive and not reactive. My 2 cents plus a $1.35 and you have yourself a cup of coffee.
I thought Obamacare addressed the "cost curve" in healthcare... you know the driving force behind the deficit?
Oh wait...
2700 pages and none of it addresses the "cost curve"... all it does is put us one step closer to"national healthcare"... which by the way will not contain the increase in premiums!!
Suckers!!
The Weeper should have thought about it carefully...."Be careful what you ask for"...
You, Mr. Weeper can resign!....As a matter of fact, maybe you should resign!
Seems Boehner fought awfully hard for a job he didn't want and didn't need.
I'm sorry, but there is something seriously wrong with Boehner... He is just a little too over the top when it comes to controlling himself... I find it embarrassing to think that the voting America has selected this guy to be third in line to be president...
Scary...
Terry, the good people of Ohio were confronted with a choice of Mr. Boehner or a Tea Party darling. They chose the lesser of the evils.
Max, you are as wrong as could be, Obama Cares does bring spending on health care down with a few different approaches. Shut your radio off, and go read the bill. One of them being that an insurance company must spend at least 80% of their gross on actual medical care. Didn't you get your refund from your insurance company? Many did. It also more closely controls Medicare cost, which in turn saves the budget money. There are many more, or are you just afraid of those death panels that your ilk invented.
It's kind of tough being Speaker of the House when you are publicly embarrassed time and again because it quite obvious that you cannot speak for your house. Please stop whining about the presidents spending, the house and senate combined as Congress votes on and approves every dime ever spent. You turned down a great deal as opposed to the one you recently were handed by the senate, but you threw in the towel and asked the senate to do it for you, they did and McConnell and virtually every republican in the senate hung you out to dry with a deal they did not even give you a chance to amend. You cry about spending and want to cut the old and sick, but they found money for NASCAR didn't they. You are a Speaker of the House that can't speak for the house, why keep blaming that on the president, your branch of government holds the purse strings, why keep blaming the president, he can't spend a dime. You or the senate would not follow his lead for four years, now out of one side of your mouths you threaten a government shutdown, and out of the other you and McConnell now beg for his leadership, you now expect him to give you political cover. You want to renig on paying for the spending your branch of government already approved and spent, you want to cut SS and Medicare and leave the military untouched, you can't find money for the victims of Sandy but you can find money for NASCAR. You guys want to cut SS and Medicare and shut down the US government, you all the power to do so, you don't need the president to control your spending, you ignored him for four years, now suddenly you want him to hold your hands every time you have to cross the street. Do your jobs, get some bills through your branch of government the president will do his job and sign them or explain why must veto them. It's freaking amazing that for four years republicans adamantly claimed that they were there for the sole purpose of blocking the presidents every move, they publicly vowed to never follow his lead, and now all they can cry about is that the president won't lead us.
Boehner stop your bitchin and do your job.
Freethinker-he can't , he's crying too often to do his job.
I agree with the President, I'm tired of hearing we've got a spending problem. If Boehner really thinks we've got a spending problem. Then why did he vote for all the spending from 2001 to 2008, including the two rebate's for political gain? Come on Mr. speaker, you know it's just a buzz word that excites the tea people.
Sob, snivel, whine...repeat.
The mouthpiece for the GOP/Tea Bigots just needs a few more stiff drinks to get back to his normal comatose self.
They have to keep refinishing the lecturns The Bohner uses for his speeches. His breath is constantly removing the varnish.
The current crisis will eclipse the Great Depression. This follows from the analysis of the Bible. An ancient vision says: "And [the king of the north] will go back (to) his land with great wealth [1945]; and his heart (will be) against the holy covenant [state atheism]; and will act [it means activity in the international arena]; and turned back to his own land [1991-1993. The collapse of the Soviet Union and the Warsaw Pact. Russian troops returned to their country]. At the appointed time [he] will return back." (Daniel 11:28, 29a) The return of Russia in this context means crisis, which will eclipse the Great Depression. Not only the eurozone will break up, but also the European Union and NATO. Then many countries of the former Eastern block will return to Russia's zone of influence. Russian troops will be stationed here again. This will be the last sign before the global nuclear war. (Daniel 11:29b, 30a; Numbers 24:23, 24; Matthew 24:7; Revelation 6:4)
All the details of this vision are being fulfilled from the time of ancient Persia, in chronological order. It is true that this vision is variously interpreted. As one can see, it has a lot of details. Therefore the insightful person is able to detect any error or sophistry.
In 1882 British troops occupied Egypt. Great Britain then took the role of "the king of the south". Around the same time, Russia expanded its influence in the region, which previously belonged to Seleucus I Nicator, and took the role of "the king of the north". (Daniel 11:27)
Dude, does the bible say anything about tin foil hats?
Boehner does have a hole in his head-it's been filled with lead. Too bad someone [other than Boehner clone-Eric Cantor] didn't really garner some support to repalce Leadhead Boehner.
Boehner needs to quit coming to the President and saying this or that will not pass in the House. He needs to have a "roll call" up or down vote on every issue and smoke out the recalcitrant members so the entire country will know who is holding up the parade. No more sneaking around corners and avoiding the sunlight. He can then advise the appropriate congressional district it can forget that "pork" you have been angling for and there will be no federal funding coming your way for flood, drought or storm damage should disaster strike your State's Rights "Garden of Eden". Time to play a little good old fashion hardball with this sanctimonious bunch of gun toters who are more interested in intravaginal probes and creationism than good government.
My most ardent wish is for Boehner and his flunky's to disappear into Ohio and stay there. They voted for him, they deserve him and perhaps he could open a gun shop, a private healthcare facility that only excepts
CASH PAYMENTS and mount the civil war that he and his fellow Republicans are floating just now. Just wait for the next Congressional election, there will be scant elephants left in the room we like to call the Halls of
Congress..
