Clinton plans to return to work next week

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who was released last night from the hospital after being treated for a blood clot, is looking forward to coming back to work next week, spokesperson Victoria Nuland said today.

"Some of the senior staff who spoke to her about half an hour ago say that she's sounding terrific, upbeat, raring to go. She's looking forward to getting back to the office. She is very much planning to do so next week, and we'll have further precise details about that as she continues to make progress," Nuland said.

Recommended: Boehner re-elected as Speaker of the House

Nuland said Clinton's family has been with her at home, but didn't have any other details about visitors to share. Nuland said she didn't have any new details on the medical side of things, but instead referenced a previous statement by Clinton's doctors advising against international travel.

"It sounds as if the doctors' preference is that she not make any international trips for a little while," she said.

Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton has been released from a New York City hospital where she was receiving treatment for a blood clot near her brain. Doctors say they expect her to make a complete recovery. NBC's Andrea Mitchell reports.

Nuland called the number of messages from international leaders wishing Clinton well a "tsunami." Nuland didn't have any calls to international leaders to read out, but said she is sure Clinton will be back on the phone with her counterparts soon.

Clinton has said she is committed to testify on the Hill regarding Benghazi, but Nuland didn't have a date to announce. "We are working with the committees on an appropriate set of dates," she said.

Nuland was also asked about Clinton's likely successor. She didn't have an update on when Sen. John Kerry's confirmation hearing would be held, but said the State Department is also working on that date.

"We are also working with the Hill on an appropriate date for the hearing. It goes to the calendar of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, which hasn't yet been set," Nuland said.

Just wondering if the conservatives will apologize for saying Hillary was faking it so she wouldn't have to testify. Well she will testify and so one must ask were are the apologizes? I'm not expecting any, but some apologies are in order.

Good to see the SoS get back in the saddle just a few days after battling blood clots in the noggin. Perhaps the completely healthy 113th Congress can pick up a pointer or two....

Whomever upped the T.Neville comment as well as T Neville , this SoS serves so that you can say such foul things, which alone is more than anything you will do in your lifetime worth a damn.

I find all this lefty liberal Hillary-worshiping Hillaryous.

Would one of you please list the specific details of her five greatest accomplishments as SoS?

And generalized platitude crappola like "Restoring respect for America" doesn't count. You need to detail specific facts, dates, actions, and impressive results she specifically achieved.

Good Luck!!!!!

BTW, You probably don't want to mention this one:

Note to self: When trying to improve ties with a former Cold War-era foe, check a dictionary.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton learned that lesson the hard way Friday when she presented Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov with a gift bearing an incorrect translation -- one that implied hostility, rather than peacemaking.

Clinton presented Lavrov with a gift-wrapped red button, which said "Reset" in English and "Peregruzka" in Russian. The problem was, "peregruzka" doesn't mean reset. It means overcharged, or overloaded.

And Lavrov called her out on it.

"We worked hard to get the right Russian word. Do you think we got it?" Clinton asked Lavrov.

"You got it wrong," Lavrov said. "This says 'peregruzka,' which means overcharged."

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Very happy to hear that Hillary is doing much better and willing to take on the heavy burdens of her position.

Hillary is a shinning example of how everyone in D.C. should be tackling their respective jobs.

I just hope that she isn't rushing things and that there will not be a relapse.

If that's not enough of some accomplishments, then we can always add raising Rush Limbaugh's blood pressure, ticking off Imus, ending a war in Gaza, Peaceful transition to Democratic government in Libya just to name a few more.

Ron, those apologies will come from FOX about the same time McCain, Graham and Ayotte apologize for their unfounded, wrongful, character assassination of UN Ambassador Susan Rice....in other words, when hell freezes or elephants fly, whichever comes first.

I would point to a FOX pattern of pre-emptive, character attacks. When Illinois State Senator Barack Obama took the nation by storm in 2004 with his excellent keynote speech at the democratic convention, FOX immediately began to attack him with nonsense; not often at first but it continued to build each time he gained more national attention. The GOPers and FOX see Hillary Clinton as their biggest challenger in 2016, the one they fear so they are now pre-emptively attacking her character and her credibility. It isn't hard to see what they are up to. Too bad, they aren't smart enough to recognize that it didn't work against Barack Obama twice, it won't work against Hillary Clinton.

DottiesGirl, seriously, spare us the faux outrage as well as the republican talking points.  Where's the GOP outrage everytime another massacre occurs in these United States, supposedly a civilized country?  Oh, that's right; weapons of mass destruction are 2nd amendment rights in this country so clearly, there is no correlation between Libyan terrorists and American's right to own assault weapons in order for some crazed nutjob to slaughter 6 and 7 year old children, close range.

Oh yes, Hilary is well respected throughout the world. Well maybe not the world, but here in the United States. Well, maybe not here either. Remember the little lie she told when she was running against Obama in 2008 about being under enemy fire when her plane landed in Bosnia? So is she above lying when it gets her what she wants, I think not. Hopefully she won't get caught in a lie regarding Benghazi. If she does, she is toast. The Obama administration is really good at covering up the truth, Benghazi will probably be no difference. First Fast and Furious and now Benghazi. I guess the United States really doesn't care if people die on this Administations' watch as long as it isn't one of your own family members. But there are some families out there who do deserve answers just like when Pat Tillman was killed.

Since every court that it came in front of threw out you birther bastards because of your unfounded assault on the President you needed a new cause. Benghazi is it. It's too bad(for them) that the right won't spend as much time team-building within their own Caucus as they will riding Benghazi into the ground. Affinity, nicely said.

Caesar, yes, there is a big difference. You don't and won't hear liberals pundits and hosts on MSNBC or CNN or even the few who appear on FOX mocking or accusing conservatives of faking their illnesses--not one of them has made a disparaging remark about former President G. H. W. Bush's serious illness or Mark Kirk's struggles to recover. Krauthammer, Bolton and the many others are a disgrace to journalism and news. Nor do we make light of such serious matters. In fact, today you read comments from liberals applauding Mark Kirk's return after his stroke; he has struggled and fought hard--doesn't matter if he's an R or D, he deserves respect and recognition for his efforts and his successful recovering. I may not agree with his politics but I applaud his efforts to return to his job. Therein lies the difference.

Jerseygirl, really? Your comment suggest that all the doctors in the hospital were in on the charade. Get real or better yet, try getting some compassion or better yet a heart--the Wizard of Oz might be able to help you.

Hillary Clinton’s Legacy at the State Department

              By Jay

Wolf’s ultimate grade: “Indefatigable. Innovative. And indentured, some say,
to a President who has made the major foreign policy decisions himself.”

              From the story:

Eight months before her self-imposed retirement, Clinton is piling up awards
and accolades faster than clear-cut achievements. She hasn’t done anything as
momentous as opening the door to China like Henry
Kissinger or assembling the first Gulf
              War coalition like James Baker.
Still, the liberation of Libya, establishment of diplomatic ties with Burma and
the assembly of a coalition against Iran bear her imprimatur.

              [...]

What stands between Clinton and the great diplomats of the past, some say,
are two things: a landmark accomplishment and a free hand from the White House
to carve her place in history.

Perhaps the biggest omission from Clinton’s résumé is advancing Middle East
peace. “She hasn’t picked up the ball, and neither has President Obama,” says Diana Buttu, a
former legal adviser to Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas. “To me,
it signals that they just don’t have a policy any longer when it comes to Israel
              and the Palestinians.”

Clinton’s biggest regret is not furthering the peace process in the Middle
East. And that might just be an incentive for her to return to government in
some form after her tenure at State is done.

What the article didn't mention is how hard Secretary Clinton worked to restore America's standing with other nations after the Bush Administration screwed it up making more enemies than friends. Now we are back to being admired and respected as before.

Clinton? Obama has made Al Queda stronger and easier to find recruits by all the drone attacks that have killed innocent women and children. THe middle east is falling apart, half of Africa is starving or in a civil war, Iran is getting nuclear weapons, North Korea is testing nuclear weapons - or warheads. China is building up their army and Russia just put new submarines in the water while we shelve ours. And our consulate is attacked so her and Obama mislead the American people purposely so we don't know how strong terrorists are.

Yep, Clinton did an awesome job. She will be 69 or 70 in 2016, I want an Independent for President that won't run up any more bills or upset any other Countries.

Who would that be, Mitt Romney, who had his head so far up his ass that he might have staged a preemtive attack on Iran or N. Korea. Chickin Hawks like that are the ones that start wars. We can't control everything that happens in the entire world, much as you would like to dream that (but only when a Democrat is president), so we do things like use drones so that Americans don't have to die, along with our enemies, the way Bush would have had it. The surgical strikes have collateral damage (just like the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Iraqis) but at least we try to keep it to a minimum, while taking out the warlords and mullahs - I see from your comment that you'd just rather have them healthy.

I suppose you can provide examples of her bad judgement? And if you're going to say Benghazi, I might remind you that under Bush there were at least ten times as many deaths of our personnel in dangerous areas, not even counting the war that was a lie from start to finish.

Does "common" mean the same as "simple"?

Why do you libs continually go back to Bush when your guy obama or his administration's actions are questioned? He has been president for four years and yes, we accept the fact that he was re-elected. Perhaps you should also accept the fact and take responsibility for the actions of the administration. But please move "forward" and help to bring the truth "forward".

We live in a very dangerous world. Perhaps if House Republicans had not slashed funds for embassy security in 2011, the Benghazi deaths might not have happened. There were NO other fatalities during the entire first four years of the Obama Administration, were there? We took out Bin Laden with zero casualties if I'm right (something Bush failed at). Oh yes, here's a summary of what went on during the Bush administration, but you will never complain about those deaths, will you?

Suicide bomber kills 12 and injures 51.

December 6, 2004, U.S. consulate in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia
Militants stormed and occupied perimeter wall. Five killed, 10 wounded.

Gunmen attacked embassy with grenades, automatic weapons, and a car bomb (though second truck bomb failed to detonate). One killed and 13 wounded.

January 12, 2007, U.S. embassy in Athens, Greece
A rocket-propelled grenade was fired at the embassy building. No one was injured.

July 9, 2008, U.S. consulate in Istanbul, Turkey
Armed men attacked consulate with pistols and shotguns. Three policemen killed.

              March 18, 2008, U.S. embassy in Sana'a, Yemen
Mortar attack misses embassy, hits nearby girls' school instead.

              September 17, 2008, U.S. embassy in Sana'a, Yemen
Militants dressed as policemen attacked the embassy with RPGs, rifles, grenades and car bombs. Six Yemeni soldiers and seven civilians were killed. Sixteen more were injured.

No Jersy Girl, I grieve for these Americans and their families, as I think we all do. There were clearly lapses and the SoS has accepted all recommendations and has taken responsibility. What is pathetic is the witch hunt that has ensued and what is comical is the premise that SoS might be faking injury to avoid a testimony.

Celtic - or the ones attacked under George Bush's administration - just a few listed below:

2002 - June 14, Karachi, Pakistan: bomb explodes outside American consulate in Karachi, Pakistan, killing 12. Linked to al-Qaeda.

2003 - May 12, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia: suicide bombers kill 34, including 8 Americans, at housing compounds for Westerners. Al-Qaeda suspected.

2004 - May 29–31, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia: terrorists attack the offices of a Saudi oil company in Khobar, Saudi Arabia, take foreign oil workers hostage in a nearby residential compound, leaving 22 people dead including 1 American.

June 11–19, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia: terrorists kidnap and execute Paul Johnson Jr., an American, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. 2 other Americans and BBC cameraman killed by gun attacks.

Dec. 6, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia: terrorists storm the U.S. consulate, killing 5 consulate employees. 4 terrorists were killed by Saudi security.

2005 - Nov. 9, Amman, Jordan: suicide bombers hit 3 American hotels, Radisson, Grand Hyatt, and Days Inn, in Amman, Jordan, killing 57. Al-Qaeda claimed responsibility.

2006 - Sept. 13, Damascus, Syria: an attack by four gunman on the American embassy is foiled.

2007 - Jan. 12, Athens, Greece: the U.S. embassy is fired on by an anti-tank missile causing damage but no injuries.

Dec. 11, Algeria: more than 60 people are killed, including 11 United Nations staff members, when Al Qaeda terrorists detonate two car bombs near Algeria's Constitutional Council and the United Nations offices.

2008 - May 26, Iraq: a suicide bomber on a motorcycle kills six U.S. soldiers and wounds 18 others in Tarmiya.

Uh oh - those weren't what you wanted to see, were they? And yes, I know not all were embassies but you get the idea

You really have NO clue about anything, do you?

I am sure that I will be called many of the lefts favorite names and in need of anger management, but it is irrelevant. I understand the dangers involved, but the dodging of the truth and the widespread cover-up is quite reminiscent of Watergate...only Americans Died this time!! Apparently you have no problem with the bogus story of the you-tube video being sited as the cause of a protest leading to the murders that were discussed for weeks by almost everyone in the administration. Wyo2,

Can you state exactly how Obama and Clinton didn't say how "awful thing happened in Benghazi,". I don't recall any statements made that stated the opposite of your post. Just what exactly are you referring to...what statements are so inflammatory. I believe it was republicans that have made this political football....and jumping all over talking points authorized by the intelligence community and used by Susan Rice. I still don't understand why republicans are not going after the intelligence agencies, mainly the CIA and FBI, rather than Susan Rice, Hillary Clinton, and Obama.

I don't recall republicans leading America over the deaths of thousands during the Iraq war, and having congressional hearings regarding faulty intelligence regarding Iraq, placing blame on Condi Rice, Colin Powell, and George W. Bush. Just what did you want done, and how would you have wanted them to lead.

For openers - I am not a Republican or a Democrat so name calling I don't care about.

It's like when one of your kids doesn't flat out lie - they just don't tell the truth. Obama, Clinton, & Rice all stated it was a mob gone wild over a you tube video. And the leader of Lybia came out the next day and stated "it was a planned terrorist attack", along with video on Al Jazeera - the only reliable news media for the middle east.

Iraq war was voted on in both the house and Senate and many democrats supported it thinking we needed to get even for the twin towers. Obama was ending the Iraq War - which he did in accordance to the Bush timeline and is doing the same with Afghanistan. In 2008 I voted for "hope and change" but this kind of hope and change.

a nut job with stupid opinions

Do you feel better? Perhaps you need the help. All we want is the truth to come our so that the people responsible for the cover-up can answer for their crimes, and so that the American people can see who they have chosen to run our great Country.

CT - YOU are the one doing the witch hunt because you don't like the fact President Obama won the election and you take every effort to put him and his administration down. You look pathetic trying to place blame for - unfortunately - something that happens during every administration. There was no cover-up and no crime except in the small mind of people like you who love to hate anything to do with this administration. You are a small, disgusting individual who is not capable of rational thought.

Now, I have a meeting to attend and you have wasted way too much of my time.

CT - the lefties on here are huge for name calling. They got it from Obama, if you say it loud enough and long enough you might think you are right. They have no ability to work together, and I am saying this as an independent voter that think both Dems and Repubs should be ousted.

Wouldn't it be fun to think for ourselves?

RandogM - just out of my meeting and I see little CT is still at it - joind by Wyo2 who has not problem with the righties calling names and doing putdowns but has a problem when Independents and Liberals do it. Can we say HYPOCRITE?

Wyo2 - why is it that in the case of Benghazi someone has to be to blame when no one pointed fingers during the Embassy attacks during the Bush Administration? Please explain that to me, if you can. Clearly CT and her ilk can't because all they want to do is blame Obama and his administration for everything. So sad you choose to support that kind of thinking or should I say, lack of thinking?

And Wyo2 - you are no Independent. Gave yourself away when you chose to place all the blame for name calling on Liberals. You have no problem with righties calling the President obozo or odumbo? You are NO Independent and you proved it!

And, CT you showed again your rightwing bias when you talk about "that the American people can see who they have chosen to run our great Country." YOu are just a narrow-minded right winger who can't accept that you lost and the country won.

No one is happy that 4 of our great Americans died. But, most of us are adult to know that this has happened and does happen and that "placing blame" is a plan for people like you - losers. Americans want to work to see it doesn't happen again by making things better - not placing blame.

Let's try this...seeking, I believe that the discussion regarding Benghazi and Hillary is not who is to blame, but the efforts to keep the truth away from the people preparing to elect a president. It does not sound too complicated. You and the other lefties keep jumping on blame when you as Americans should be interested in the truth.

These people are like vultures, feeding on the corpses of our own people. I've not seen one righty comment on the House slashing funds for embassy security, despite the Senate's objections. I see not one righty complaining about the many casualties under the Bush administration (not to mention the war that was a lie), etc.

The funniest comment was about Watergate - that we attacked Republicans for Watergate. Damn Straight! It was only because he received a presidential pardon that Nixon avoided prison time. Progressives were on the right side and would do it again.

I posted to you at 4:01 - check the time stamp. My meeting lasted an hour. See I have intelligent clients and we get things done quickly. The fact that you can't tell time is one of your many problems.

I know nothing about Johns but I am sure you are quite familiar with them. It appears to be just your speed.

And I support myself very well. No one like you supports anyone - but possibly your sorry self - or else I am helping to pay for your support which is more likely.

Your comment about the sand shows how crude and classless you are. You are not worth communicating with but show how lowlife you are. No surprise there. And, you have the gall to talk about others. You are a pitiable person who couldn't run a hot dog stand - much less a company.

I was pretty sure that the Pathologically Dishonest Clintons faked Hillary's illness up until the blood clot claim.

To get out of being forced to lie in front of Congress on Benghazi, which could trip them up later on when she runs for president.

Now, I don't know if it really was a genuine health problem or if the Clintons just doubled down on the made up health scare, to make sure everyone bought it, and didn't think it was phony.

Don't put anything past these sleazy, lying scum. Neither Clinton bats an eye over lying about the most minor things you could imagine. No morals this pair.

As Former Clinton pal and filthy rich donor David Geffen says: "Everyone in politics lies, but they do it with such ease, it's troubling"
