Updated 11:15 p.m. ET: House Speaker John Boehner is giving some ground on Sandy funding and timing a vote.
The House will now hold a vote Friday on $9 billion in Sandy recovery funds, followed by another vote on $51 billion on Jan. 15th.
Congress did not hold a vote last night, enraging Tri-state-area members of Congress from both parties.
After a blitzing round of cable interviews, in which Republican Rep. Peter King (NY) blasted Boehner for not voting on the funding last night, he and other New York- and New Jersey-area members say their concerns have been addressed.
"Turning your back on people who are starving and freezing is not a Republican value," King had said this morning on CNN.
This afternoon, after a meeting with Boehner, King's tone changed.
"Whatever's done is done, and that's it," King said at an afternoon press conference on Capitol Hill, adding later, "The bottom line is we need the $60 billion." King later said he was satisfied with the response from House GOP leaders.
Boehner and Reps. Michael Grimm (NJ) and Chris Smith (NJ) also now say they will all support Boehner when he comes up for reelection for speaker tomorrow.
The move also came after New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie slammed Boehner and House Republicans earlier in the day.
"Shame on you. Shame on Congress," Christie said in a televised news conference from Trenton, N.J. He called Congress' delay "disgraceful."
"It is why the American people hate Congress," Christie said, adding, "Unlike people in Congress, we have actual responsibilities."

Hopefully the HOUSE will cut out the more than 30 BILLION taxpayer dollars of outright PORK that the Senate added to the ORIGINAL 27 Billion dollar relief package.
Public transportation does NOT need almost 11 Billion dollars that has NOTHING to do with disaster relief.
Homeland Security and DoJ do NOT need 8 million dollars for new cars that do NOT have anything to do with disaster relief.
The EPA does NOT need 600 million for "climate change issues" that have NOTHING to do with disaster relief.
The Community Development Block Grants "program" does NOT need 17 Billion for a program that is NOTHING except a hidden earmark program and has NOTHING to do with disaster relief.
There does NOT need to be 13 Billion for "mitigation" projects that have NOTHING to do with disaster relief.
The ORIGINAL 27 Billion dollars in DIRECT DISASTER RELIEF is more than the budgets of most of the States in this country, but it still wasn't enough for the Democrats, who continue to ADD PORK to everything that comes their way.
Remember, these are YOUR dollars that they are spending, NOT THEIRS.
And yet you libs come out with your condemnations and hate filled garbage because Boehner actually wants to SAVE YOUR TAX DOLLARS from being wasted on the usual PORK, payoffs, paybacks, and political agenda garbage that Democrats love to use YOUR dollars for!!!!
Geez, even in the "fiscal cliff" travesty that was passed Democrats put in pork giving Hollywood 165 Million of YOUR dollars in tax cuts. They gave Goldman-Sachs 1.6 Billion dollars of YOUR tax dollars to build in New York. And you libs actually celebrate this kind of wasteful garbage?
Only one small hitch to the timing. Since this is a new Congress, the Senate has to rewrite and repass the aid bill before the House can vote on it. The House cannot vote on the "old" legislation.
That Peter King is the biggest POS hypocrite in Washington !! The SOB was one of 11 Republicans who voted against aid for Katrina victims and in Florida demanded spending cuts before giving aid to the areas affected by the hurricane...... But now, this disgusting low-life, wants his money !! .... F.U. Peter King !! F.U. !!
All those red state republicans sure have their hands out each and every year asking for funds for much fewer people. I beleive maybe we should stop giving Texas or Georgia money. Maybe close those military bases in Alabama and North Carolina. Oklahoma can pay their own way. Maybe just stop giving them unemployment or food stamp. What a bunch of sefish people this congress has become.
Frank -
"maybe we should stop giving Texas or Georgia money."
So you are the "man" in charge of handing out pork...there is sure a lot of air castles built on the foundation of "we" and "they"...
"Park Avenue: Money, Power and the American Dream". Find it on-line, watch and learn what and who our leaders care about. Politics in America has nothing to do with our society or individual needs. It is all about who has the most ($) at the end of the game. Our government will send trillions of dollars out of the country "to help" (read: influence) our fellow citizens of planet Earth, but argue over helping our families and neighbors in times of desperate need. Every time mother nature guts this country, it is a war over who gets what ($) and how best to take advantage, financially, of the pain and suffering of our fellow citizens. All we can depend on are each other and prepare for the time when we are sacrificed for the "good" of our political system.
Wonder if there's pork in the Sandy bill to bail out the folks in Delaware??? I don't know if Obama and Biden investing tax monies in an automotive green energy venture is classified as a natural disaster or not...but they are naturals at disasters...maybe that's close enough to get some pork...
Tax payers in Delaware are out $400,000.00 just keeping the utilities running in an idle Fiskar's plant...the Delaware governor's giving out the old story about "how was I suppose to know this wouldn't work out?"...meanwhile 2,500 green jobs that Obama promised on a $529,000,000.00 government loan never happened...not 1 car was...ever...produced...in the Fiskar Delaware Plant...not one...nada...
How much more evidence does anyone need that Obama is a clueless, narcissistic, bloviating, community organizing, Chicago politician...unfit for the job as President...
Christie sounds more and more like a Leftist everyday.
Take it from someone who lives in New Jersey, Christie is a definitely a conservative. He's a progressive conservative, like Reagan. He's exactly the type of candidate the GOP needs right now. They have lost many more progressives than they gained from the tea-party. I don't think big money will support him though. They put DeMint(a tea-party founder) in charge of the Heritage Foundation which gives all the talking points to Rush and Fox.
Who gives all the talking points for the Left? NBC, CNN, ...MSNBC
They vote to send aid all over the world after a Tsunami or earthquake but when it comes to our own they have to plead and beg, shame on you Congress, you will never change, you keep digging that grave you started during the elections and you will be gone and forgotten next election.
Vote a gas tax in the affected states of 5 cents per gallon and all non-affected states of 1 cent per gallon. Paid for.
You dont just pass a Bill to pass a Bill.... Thank you Mr Boehner for not passing a garbage Bill full of Pork for the Left. If the Left truly wanted the Bill to Pass right away ...they never would have filled it full of "Pork" The Difference of passing a Bill a few days later is nothing compared to Flash and Dash the President did during the Election on the Hurricane Sandy Victims . The President promised these victims quick action and relief...here we are 2 months later and very typical follow up from the President ...Nothing is done. He got his Photo shots and walking around showing his compassion during the Election. Didnt anyone ask ...why he did not show the same care for New Orleans when they got hit earlier this year? ...Face it ...you got what you voted for ...quit always finding this President an excuse.
