Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) acknowledged on Wednesday that House Republicans had consciously voted to reduce the funds allocated to the State Department for embassy security since winning the majority in 2010.

On Wednesday morning, CNN anchor Soledad O'Brien asked the Utah Republican if he had "voted to cut the funding for embassy security."

"Absolutely," Chaffetz said. "Look we have to make priorities and choices in this country. We have…15,000 contractors in Iraq. We have more than 6,000 contractors, a private army there, for President Obama, in Baghdad. And we're talking about can we get two dozen or so people into Libya to help protect our forces. When you're in tough economic times, you have to make difficult choices. You have to prioritize things."

For the past two years, House Republicans have continued to deprioritize the security forces protecting State Department personnel around the world. In fiscal year 2011, lawmakers shaved $128 million off of the administration's request for embassy security funding. House Republicans drained off even more funds in fiscal year 2012 -- cutting back on the department's request by $331 million.

Consulate personnel stationed in Benghazi had allegedly expressed concerns over their safety in the months leading up to the Sept. 11 attacks that killed four Americans, including Amb. Chris Stevens.

So, because the House proposed to give Obama only 90% of what he asked for, Obama refused to defend the Benghazi Mission. Are you suggesting that he allowed them to be slaughtered out of revenge for the House not giving him everything he asked for?

According to Democratic House Oversight Committee staff, the amount that the GOP-led House passed for two accounts that pay for embassy security in fiscal 2012 ($2.311 billion) was $330 million less than the Obama administration had requested ($2.641 billion).

However, the final bill, after being worked on by the Democratic-led Senate, put in more money than what had passed in the House. And then there are facts that for every expert witness your lawyer finds, I can find three who will testify the opposite. An example of this is the Cato Institute who started the whole taxes pay for themselves BS, but if you fisk it you never find the data to support the claim. I do not know if we will ever get to the bottom of Benghazi. There is a book I am reading now. It is by this CIA officer. It was found at Barnes and Noble. It is by Henry A.
