Inouye would rather die than live in this Cliff-mess the GOP has pushed us into.

1...2...3... Let's jump into this cliff-mess...that's why 12/21/12 might be the end of the world - the encient Mayans predicted it.

People such as this gentleman force an appropriate pause when folks like myself call for term limits for those in Congress. To be an elected Representative both in the House and in the Senate for as long as he has is truly amazing.

It's sad that he is the exception in the way he handled himself and the interactions he had with his colleagues. That such things are celebrated and focused on only in death is but to add to the tragedy of his loss.

The Senate is a better place because of him and how respected the seat he occupied.

Allen, nicely said.

There are many fine legislators who devote their entire lives to public service for the good of their respective states and to promote the better angels in our country. Occasionally, I think term limits sound good but then I remember those like Inouye, Kennedy, Dirksen and others and the good things that came from their long service.

The senator was truly a great man on so many levels. Sen. Inouye truly put our country first. That said: Compare the "service" of AZ senators Kyl and McCain. Nuff said!

Pigotry, your initial comment was A OK but,you 2nd comment #1.1 was disgusting. What a line of baloney. You have reached an all time low with that remark.I was stationed in Hawaii for 5 years and i personally met Inouye several times. His personality and respect for others was far beyond your pathetic ablity to understand apparently. He may have been a Democrat later in life, but he was a statesman as well.I am not a Democrat but as far as military is concerned he was one of the few that i would have followed to hell because he would have been leading the way.You probably have no clue what that would mean as you are nothing but a cheap, small minded, little commenter that thinks she has a cause.Inouye was above and beyond what you could ever hope to be.

Dancing? That's uncalled-for.

Wolfhound, you under-estimated me. I am hurt. Once McCain is dead, he is forgotten. End of story. I move on to criticize the next right-wing nut.

Merry Cliff-mess...courtesy of GOP.

I suggest that members of Congress who want to honor this great American should stay in DC and resolve the fiscal cliff issue rather than flying off to Hawaii. The Senator fought for this country at a time when life was particularly difficult for people of Japanese-Americans. He and they never seem to have held unspeakable treatment against things the US did to Japanese Americans in the name of national security. I drove way, way out of my way while on vacation in California to visit Manzanar. Take a ride there sometime.

I too met Sen. Inouye several times in Hawaii and not only was he a great patriot but a true gentleman. I hope the 'quiet little song' lulls him as he rests after a lifetime of service to his country. Would that more were like him today. Had he been of the other party, my respect for him would never have waivered.

That said, the bacon maker should change the name to Bigotry. A true disgrace to the 'Vine everything Bigotry posts anything and I'm a hardcore Democrat.

      Requisat en Pace, Senator Inouye.

Rest in peace Senator. Senator Inouye fought for this country and lost an arm doing it while people who looked like him were in concentration camps in America. He served his country like few people get to do.

Pigotry When are you going to get the blinders off and see the truth. Its not just the GOP causing this mess, The Democrats also have had a hand in this mess. As well as special interest groups and mega corporations who pay off politicians in both parties so the can feed off the people.

Obama and his admin. also has their share of the blame. Obama is not adult enough to accept his oun mistakes and shoves them on others. That is what I have against him. A man who refuses to admit to his mistakes is not a man to be trusted.

But I do hope everyone has a wonderful Holiday.

The Senator made a life of serving his nation and his state well and truthfully. He is admired and loved by Hawaii, and by members of the Senate and the House on both sides of the aisle. Aloha, Daniel Inouye.

Dan Inouye WAS a great American. He gave his right arm fighting fascism in Europe, and then tried to prevent every United States war of aggression during his fifty-year Senate career. Senator Inouye was a true patriot by American standards, whose biggest error was supporting the United States' overthrow of Hawaiian sovereignty and the phony "statehood" legislation. That prevented him from being a patriot by Hawaiian standards. Irony lives.

he was patriotic in the military, but a lousy Senator. He was chairman of the U.S. Senate Committee on Appropriations and wasted trillions of our money.
