Obama agenda: Kerry announcement likely will be delayed

The New York Times’ Sanger reports, as others have, that Obama is likely to pick Sen. John Kerry to succeed Hillary Clinton as secretary of state, “but the announcement will be delayed, at least until later this week and maybe beyond, because of the Connecticut school shooting and what one official called ‘some discomfort’ with the idea of Mr. Obama’s announcing a national security team in which the top posts are almost exclusively held by white men.”

“[T]he possibility of picking Kerry and Hagel — two white men — for the two secretary positions could also create pressure on the White House to add gender or racial diversity to the team with its selection of a permanent replacement for David Petraeus as CIA director,” the Boston Globe writes. “Among the possible candidates in that case would be Flournoy or Jane Harman, former representative of California.”

I am sure Kerry can wait.

It's time to grieve...as a nation...for those angels of Newtown.

Obama didn't pick Kerry because he was white. He wanted Rice but her nomination/confirmation wouldn't open a senate seat for Brown to (re)run for.

At least the GNOP is becoming more obvious in their schemes.

Does the media actually take it's self serious? Fist they help the republicans bash Ambassador Rice till she pulls her name from consideration, then they start complaining about the President appointing two white men. Me thinks the media just wants to complain. Oh that's right the media is all about trying to create controversy not reporting.

Rice did it to herself! When you get caught lying... There are consequences . The media ia all left...There is no "Right" in them. Lets see Hilary was to "exahausted to go on the Tv circut and do the lying for the Administration...so Rice became the sacrificial lamb...because she wanted Hilary"s job.. Now (this is kind of funny) ...Hilary can not testify because she has a concussion...wow ...How far will the cover up go?

I am going to call B.S. on you Mike. Rice did nothing wrong. She told what she knew at the time. She was politically assassinated by the right wing media and such people as John McCain and others on the right. There is no cover up, it is the new birther movement and as the birther movement it has no validity.

John...As reported by GMA(A left leaning media outlet..but I find more credible than others) When Rice met with McCain and the other Senators in a closed door meeting she admited that the information she gave out on the following Sundays was wrong. That information is what troubled the Senators more so after the meeting, and why they moved forward in not supporting her bid for SEC State.

Why do you truly think Hilary did not make those rounds that Sunday? Exhaustion...? Really? Now a concussion? It does not even sound right. Hilary has more setbacks physically than the Steelers. Also....The talking points....who actually produced the Talking points? Nobody has an answer there. Not one person or group admited to these so called talking points. Also Patraeus testified under Oath that he never gave a Report talking about an Anti Muslim Video and Spontanaeous attack... So ask yourself a question....How can Susan Rice report on a "Report" that never existed?....Did they do hearings on Capital Hill on the Birther issue? They seem to have Hearings about Investigations......Obviously there is a lot of unanswered questions....about Bengazie.

This is a ridiculous thought. No one needs to bring the President binders of racially diverse people. This President doesn't need to prove anything to anyone, on that score. He will pick the best person for the job.

Gee Amy, your statement was very critical of the Romney plan during his run.

This President DOES have a lot to prove to the American people. By the way, where are those jobs he promised during his campaign?

The Best Person Qualified Person For The JOB Of SOS -- Period! Race Creed Ethnics Gender Issues Are Not Qualifications Nor Do They Better Qualify Someone For A Job -- Any Decision Built On These Is Unto Itself Discrimination! Two People Were On The Table -- Both Highly Qualified Ones -- One Dropped / Was Pressed Out Of THe Running -- One Highly Qualifiied Is Left -- Period! Any Others That Maybe Able To Meet The Qualifications & Experience Should Be Considered! But Race - Creed - Ethinics - Gender Playing Into It -- No Way!
