With three weeks to go to avoid the fiscal cliff, President Barack Obama will travel to a Detroit auto plan and attempt to sell his plan to raise taxes on the top two percent of Americans.
The “fiscal cliff” end game… If there’s going to be a deal, Obama, Boehner, and Congress need to start the heavy lifting ASAP… Kristol vs. the Wall Street Journal on caving on the tax rates… Motoring! Obama delivers remarks at 2:00 pm ET at a Detroit Diesel plant in Redford, MI… And in Michigan, the president will set foot in the state featuring the nation’s latest labor battle… The hits keep on coming for Susan Rice… The upcoming immigration push… Hillary and 2016… And meet Markwayne Mullen.
*** The end game: We’ve told you that the last couple of weeks in Washington’s fiscal debate have mostly been about P.R. and posturing. Like a student in college or a reporter working in the news business, the real work in Congress typically doesn’t happen until there’s a real deadline that’s rapidly approaching. Well, we’ve now entered that deadline phase in the negotiations between President Obama and House Speaker John Boehner. If the plan is to get something passed by Friday, Dec. 21 (right before the Christmas holiday), then the legislation has to be written by Dec. 18. And that means that Obama and Boehner must reach an agreement by Dec. 14-15, if there’s going to be a deal. So the time for posturing and P.R. is over. This week, we’ve reached the phase where both sides will begin rolling up their sleeves to do the heavy negotiating. Both Obama and Boehner know this, which is why they did meet behind closed doors yesterday. The question now is: Will there be a BIG deal that includes serious entitlement hits in addition to major tax reform? Or will it be JUST taxes and a punt until the debt ceiling? There’s not much of an “in between” at this point.

Speaker of the House John Boehner, R-Ohio, talks with reporters outside his office in the Capitol Dec. 7, 2012 in Washington, DC.
*** Kristol vs. the Wall Street Journal: In addition to yesterday’s news that the president and the speaker met, Sen. Bob Corker (R-TN) became the latest GOP lawmaker to suggest that Republicans acquiesce on raising tax rates on the wealthy to get entitlement cuts. And that’s a stance the Wall Street Journal’s editorial page today criticizes. “So it's a shame that Republicans are playing into Mr. Obama's hands, negotiating in public among themselves, prematurely giving up on the tax issue and undermining House Speaker John Boehner in the process. Mr. Obama isn't going to blink on the budget if he thinks Republicans are going to blink first, and so far the emerging GOP position seems to be to surrender on taxes first and hope Mr. Obama will have mercy on them later on entitlements.” But the Weekly Standard’s Bill Kristol hits back at the Journal. “Most Republicans will go along soon after January 1 with what will now be the Democrats' tax cutting agenda. If the House Republicans now follow the Wall Street Journal editors over the cliff, the only effect, I'm afraid, will be to turn a manageable tactical retreat in December into a panicked strategic rout in January.” There is good news for Boehner in all of this: The lack of consensus among conservatives gives Boehner more running room to cut the deal he thinks is best, rather than over-worrying about specific conservative constituencies. Remember, the House GOP leadership won’t say it publicly, but they’ve signaled privately that under the RIGHT circumstance, they’d go to the floor of the House with less than a majority of the majority.
Former Michigan Republican Governor John Engler, who is the president of the business roundtable, joins The Daily Rundown's Chuck Todd to talk about President Barack Obama's trip the Michigan, the fiscal cliff, and Michigan's 'right to work' law.
*** Motoring! Your White House fiscal-cliff photo-op of the day takes place in Michigan, where the president delivers remarks at a Daimler Detroit Diesel plant at 2:00 pm ET in Redford. Per the Detroit Free Press, Daimler, which owns Detroit Diesel, is announcing “a new investment to expand U.S. production and jobs... The White House said the investment is expected to be $100 million or more and, with it, Daimler Trucks North America will become the first heavy-duty vehicle equipment manufacturer on the continent to build a fully integrated powertrain from on production facility.” So today’s even will be a mixture of the fiscal cliff and this Daimler news.
*** Michigan’s labor battle: Yet when Obama visits Michigan, he’ll be setting foot in the state featuring the nation’s latest labor battle. “With Michigan lawmakers poised Tuesday to give final passage of right-to-work legislation, unions and their supporters plan to mass outside the Capitol that day as part of a last-ditch bid to derail the fast-moving campaign to limit labor's power,” the Detroit News says. “If lawmakers reconcile the bills and pass a final version Tuesday — as expected — Gov. Rick Snyder has said he will sign it, making Michigan the 24th right-to-work state and dealing a major blow to organized labor in one of its traditional strongholds.” Out of all the new Republican governors who were elected in 2010, Michigan’s Rick Snyder was always viewed as the least ideological of the bunch. So when Scott Walker in Wisconsin, John Kasich in Ohio, or Rick Scott in Florida were pursuing controversial changes and legislation and confronting the labor movement, Snyder -- who calls himself “one tough nerd” -- stayed away from the ideological wars and focused on the economy. In fact, he even appeared to support Obama’s auto bailout. But now the Michigan governor finds himself knee deep in the same kind of controversy we saw in Wisconsin and Ohio. By the way, while we do expect Snyder to greet the president at the airport, don’t expect to see Snyder with the president at the Chrysler event because it’s taking place at a UAW facility.
*** Hits keep coming for Rice: It’s no longer Benghazi, or even the Keystone XL Pipeline. Critics of Susan Rice are now pointing to the Obama administration’s failure to intervene in the atrocities in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The New York Times: “Specifically, these critics — who include officials of human rights organizations and United Nations diplomats — say the administration has not put enough pressure on Rwanda’s president, Paul Kagame, to end his support for the rebel movement whose recent capture of the strategic city of Goma in Congo set off a national crisis in a country that has already lost more than three million people in more than a decade of fighting. Rwanda’s support is seen as vital to the rebel group, known as M23.” And the Times reports that Rice has been viewed as shielding Kagame. And then there’s a New York Times op-ed from journalist Salem Solomon, who accuses Rice of showing “a surprising and unsettling sympathy for Africa’s despots.” This is the problem for Rice as long as President Obama doesn’t officially appoint her (or John Kerry) to fill the secretary of state position: She’s dangling like a piñata for critics to whack, without an official campaign to defend her. But with the fiscal cliff taking up more and more time and this secretary of state issue becoming such a headache for the administration, there’s a very real chance the president doesn’t announce any new cabinet members until AFTER the new year.
*** The upcoming immigration push: Over the weekend, the Los Angeles Times noted that the Obama White House is preparing for a big push on comprehensive immigration reform after the “fiscal cliff” negotiations end. “Senior White House advisors plan to launch a social media blitz in January, and expect to tap the same organizations and unions that helped get a record number of Latino voters to reelect the president. Cabinet secretaries are preparing to make the case for how changes in immigration laws could benefit businesses, education, healthcare and public safety. Congressional committees could hold hearings on immigration legislation as soon as late January or early February.” More: “Democratic strategists believe there is only a narrow window at the beginning of the year to get an initiative launched in Congress, before lawmakers begin to turn their attention to the next election cycle and are less likely to take a risky vote on a controversial bill.”
*** Hillary and 2016: On Sunday, the New York Times ran a “Hillary 2016” story, and we all should prepare for these kind of stories once a month until she decides to run (or not) for president. “Right now, aides and friends say, Hillary Rodham Clinton’s plan looks like this: exit the State Department shortly after Inauguration Day and then seclude herself to rest and reflect on what she wants to do for the next few years. Those who have invited her for 2013 engagements have been told not to even ask again until April or May.” The Times does make this important point: If she does want to keep the presidential door open, her options are limited. “The more serious she is about 2016, the less she can do — no frank, seen-it-all memoir; no clients, commissions or controversial positions that could prove problematic. She will be under heavy scrutiny even by Clinton standards, discovering what it means to be a supposedly private citizen in the age of Twitter. With the election four years away — a political eon — she will have to tend and protect her popularity, and she may find herself in a cushy kind of limbo, unable to make many decisions about her life until she makes the big one about another White House try.”
*** Meet Markwayne Mullin: NBC’s Carrie Dann has profiled 10 new members to watch in the next Congress. Today’s profile: Markwayne Mullen. When his father's illness forced Mullin to quit college and take over the family plumbing business, the 20-year-old and his wife turned a flailing enterprise into a small eastern Oklahoma empire. Mullin, now 35, won the House seat vacated by retiring Rep. Dan Boren, running under the banner "A rancher. A businessman. Not a politician!" The Tulsa native -- a social conservative who vehemently opposes "amnesty" proposals -- has promised to take a no-frills attitude to the halls of Congress. Casually dressed on election night, he joked with supporters that he defied his campaign staff's request that he wear a suit to deliver his victory speech. "They got me this far, and boots are going to take me all the way there and bring me all the way back" from Washington, he said.

Okay...a long post that I wrote offline but maybe will help.
Dionysus Omega's foolproof ten point plan to fix the American Economy for the 2013 – 2016 period.
Domestic Policy
Step 1: Audit the Federal Reserve, audit the Gold/Silver and other real assets of the U.S. to get a baseline net worth.
Step 2: Lower Corporate tax rates to 28% but in doing so remove ALL deductions….flat tax on large corporations. No exemptions and serious consequences ( Jail for the controlling board. ) for tax evasion or questionable accounting techniques.
Step 3: Cap deductions excepting a sliding charitable scale.
( ie – earners making more than a million or more get no deductions after a million except charitable contributions. )
Step 4: Increase taxes on the wealthy to Reagan era rates…about 50% with very limited deductions. ( See step 3 )
Step 5: Immediately invest in America.
Schools, bridges, rail and roads. Universities and Hospitals, pipelines and oil rigs.
Not built by government, but built by private companies using not just low bid but quality bid contracts.
Talk about good paying jobs!
Foreign Policy
Step 6: Place a moratorium on all financial aid to other countries and/or governments, creating a policy statement that is concise and readable by laypersons explaining why the foreign entity needs taxpayer monies.
Included in this report; what, in general, this government spends the American taxpayer money on.
Step 7: Complete re-engineering and re-tooling of the military services to reflect the twenty first century challenges.
Example: One F-35 at the cost of 25 Million can be taken out with regularity by a ground to air missile, operated by a village idiot, at around a 100 Grand a piece.
Step 8: Create the American Foreign Legion.
Yes, just like the old French Foreign Legion.
Trained and led by our veterans who want to live the military life and still wish to lead men in battle.
The ranks of the Legion would be filled with those on the fringe of American society who would do military service instead of prison or other unfortunate circumstance.
Illegal immigrants should in all cases gain citizen status upon completion of military service.
Step 9: End the stupidity of Afghanistan NOW!
Step 10: End the uncertainty of disastrous military conflict in the middle east.
Declare, philosophically and categorically, that the United States of America is NOT willing to destroy the world in nuclear death based on the tribulations of certain tribes of people that live in the middle east that have been at war since before recorded history.
We will support democracies based on conditions on the ground, but the response will be measured by the importance and impact of intervention.
BTW – For all the hate I will get for that last one, remember….Israel has at LEAST twenty very accurate nuclear armed missiles ready to go if need be. They can defend themselves against any nuclear threat.
Quick first answe Number 1 should be done at all times,
number 2 is insurance an expemption, or travel, what about meals and entertainment, amortization, etc.?
number 4 What about subchapter S corps, what rate do you tax them at which are most small businesses
number 5 who is paying for those items such as bridges or is every bridge going to have a toll.
Why not a flat tax on all individuals with no loopholes?
Are we all equal or not?
Do we have special race taxes for hispanic or asian? Do we have gay taxes? Or Jewish people taxes? Or do fat people have a higher tax rate?
You can't have equality when it suits you and discrimination when it suit you.
You are on the right track... but ultimately, people need to take responsibility.
You can't reward illegal aliens for breaking a federal law and coming here illegally by giving them money and education and assistance, and then punish hard working people by making them pay for it.
Come here legally. Pay taxes. Contribute.
You can't expect the people that contribute the most to have the least say. If you want equal say, you need to have equal contribution. FLAT TAX. 25 cents on the dollar for every dollar earned.
If you want a big screen TV, work harder. Learn a new skill. Get a second job. Don't just expect others to give it to you. These are basic principles that this country was founded on. This is the American Way and the American Dream.
DJ,
I agree about the flat tax...by DEFINITION a fair tax. If EVERYONE is paying the same rate, I don't see how anybody could whine about that.
However, the above is a workaround until a flat tax could be implemented.
So you are a fiscal conservative! Good for you Dionysus. Now just admit that Obama has to stop spending and entitlement reform is required to put this nation on the right track and your training is complete! ;)
flat tax will never fly. people actually think they pay taxes because it comes out of their paycheck every month. don't realize they get back more at the end of the year than they put in. can't take away the annual tax
returnbonus.Entitlement reform?
The only thing that needs to be 'reformed' is America's health care and insurance corporations.
The only reason that Medicare/Medicaid is so expensive is that taking care of our aging population is too expensive.
Do You know how much a MRI costs in Japan?...about $125.00
In America?...$4,000.00 - $5,000.00
That is the real problem here.
Very true Dionysus. The medical, pharma and insurance industries are very much too blame.
In America we pay for health insurance not health care.
When you want to change the oil in your car, you don't go through the insurance company. If you did, oil changes would cost $500-$600.
Obamacare is not the answer though. Nor is raising taxes.
Corporations don't pay taxes. You and I pay their taxes for them when we buy their goods and services. It is just a backdoor way of the government raising the taxes of the all citizens. And you fools think that somehow your miserable little lives will be better if we stick to the evil corporations. It's the government that is evil.
wasted time explaining it. some dont ge't it, and a lot do'nt care. especially when they are sucking on uncle sams "teat". they haven't figured out that the "teat" is sticking out of his trousers...
Folks, I'm telling you....I have been in business for a LONG TIME; I have friends who own businesses; it is exactly this type of non-business sense (and the disastrous results) that give those with potential jobs to offer great pause. If a 249 MILLION dollar investment can go belly-up so quickly, what confidence does that instill in American companies that have the jobs?
Exactly NONE.....this is not about Fox News, or George Bush, the Tea Party, or Boehner....it is just simple freaking BUSINESS
And GM and Chrysler can go belly up dang quick too.
Was that about business?
How bout bailing out all those too big to fail banks and insurance corporations?
Was that about business?
How bout them subsidies to Big Oil who make BILLIONS in profit?
Is that about business?
nope. its about screwing over the people who were taxed to pay for it. you do want to increase taxes, right?
Lehman wasn't bailed out. And the world market vs a car maker??? Not exactly comparing oranges to oranges. AIG was a scam. GM was a scam.
But initially the banking bailout was business.
And the GOP is starting to change their tune on oil subsidies.
If you have been in business for a long time then tell us why companies are not hiring and have not been in a long tme? Why they are not hiring full-time employees and relying more on contractors? Why the Bush tax-cuts did not create jobs? Why have companies continued sending jobs overseas? Now, with the threat of the tax cut expiring, are businesses threatening it will hurt business? If companies are relying on these cuts to help business, why haven't they been booming all this time? I am curious.
"oil subsidies"?
Definition:
A sum of money granted by the government or a public body to assist an industry or business so that the price of a commodity or service...
The above definition would mean that the government is giving money to "big oil" when in reality, it is not.
What dems call "oil subsidies" is what every American business
gets to use to help save money and expand the business. It is in the tax code. They are "write offs" for equipment and such. Any business can use these write offs because it is in the tax code.
Even individuals gets write offs of sorts. Did you update your heating and cooling system in your home. You can write that off or at lease get some of that back.
Romney made a business out of investing in companies, some of which went bankrupt. For that he was called an astute businessman, a success, and nominated for President by the GOP. The government has invested in some companies, some of which went bankrupt. For that, Obama (regardless of the administration granting the investment) has been called a failure and a danger to the economy. If government subsidies are bad, why does the GOP continue to defend subsidies to big oil and Pharma? Why does the GOP continue to claim that it is free market principles that let a business work if a Republican is in control, but is is not free market principles when a business fails...if a Dem is in control. It's OK....if you're a Republican?????
Ridiculous comparison. Government spending is not an investment. Romney used his money, not yours and mine. And, he made money for his investors on many of the companies that went bankrupt as well. Just like there is money to be made on an up stock market as well as a down market.
they dont get that government and private sector are two different things. people think that private money belongs to the public. its all American money and they are entitled to it...tax away!!!
Don't understand what the fuss is about regarding taxing the rich. First of all if they do not want to pay proportionally for the benefits of living in this country they can simply move, join their money in the Caymans, Switzerland or whereever.
Second, taxe paid by the rich are not paid by everybody else, leaving everybody else with more money to spend, which they will. They will use thier money to buy whatever goods or services they desire. In a week or two all of the extra money in the hands of the majority will be in the coffers of the businesses and corporations that prove whatever goods or services that they wanted. Any money lost by the rich to taxes will be made up in extra revenue, so it is a break even financially and the majority are happy and content, that is of course a good thing for the rich.
Obama really wants to raise taxes on older, white, male, Heterosexuals. That is the best revenge. Stick it to them . Just like he said at one of his last rallies, don't BOO, vote, voting is the best revenge. Everyone knows the rich people are evil. In the end, product prices rise & our pay doesn't. They have enough money to either hide it or hire someone to find loop holes for them. Other than the Class Warfare on paper, everything is still the same. But the Obama ass tumors will talk about what he has done for the poor. But in the end, his mouth is writing checks his ass can't cash. Meanwhile back at the Ranch, we just get farther in debt. But everyone is asking what's in it for ME????
Actually our debt was created by george Bush and his wild spending spree but dont let the facts get in your way of being totally incorrect and ignorant.
And Obama takes no responsibility of course.
He knew the state of the economy. And yet promised to cut the debt in half.
Instead he spent more in 4 years than Bush did in eight.
But Bush is to blame, not Obama. He can do no wrong.
Nope, Your Boy has been in orifice the last four years, the first two years he had both Houses. It's all his now. When Bush was in office, the Demorats controlled the spending. Obama can take credit now just like Bush has up until now. It is HIS all HIS. Fact is, I wished they would give him everything he wants BUT the debt ceiling. That way he can't blame anyone but himself. But he will NEVER take credit for anything to the negative.
The wheels on the buss go over the clifff, over the cliff, over the cliff. Don't know why Obama can't drive a buss drive a buss drive a buss, but the wheels on the buss are going over fast.
He stands there and says this IS going to be the deal you will give me. But Michele, what if they don't give it too me????
Good God impeach him and get it over with.
The GOP will cave.
Either now or later...tis only a matter of time.
Still having some sour grapes over that last election aren't you?
They lost and can't accept it. Look at what happened to Carl Rove on Fox.
You sound like a complete moron. Why would we want to impeach this President?
Where were u when G Bush was raping our nation and economy?
Hmmm
I think we should give all you libs all the tax increases you want, don't you?
Biil, I feel very sorry for you. Your hate is consuming you. Your soul is being eaten by the hate that now defines you. So sad.
When Bush was starting unnecessary wars and spending unnecessary funds, I was right here bitching and moaning. When Obama was running for office in 2008 and promising to cut the debt in half, I was here supporting him. And now that he lied, I'm here trying to convince you that he sucks at governing.
Hey Johnny 3621820, are you just a complete idiot or do you realize that Barney Frank/Chris Dodd, when asked 14 TIMES by the Bush administration about issues with Fannie and Freddie, starting in 2003, they said everything was fine. Are you just a complete f'd up person? Have no f'ing clue about anything? WTF is your major malfunction? You do realize the entire collapse of the housing and banking industry was because of Jimmy Carter's Community Reinvestment Act, right?
I just hope you libs get your way on everything, just to show what azz holes and have no clue about reality you truly are. Holy cow!
But if I'm not mistaken, those wars & all the spending were voted for by Repub's & Democrats alike. Bush didn't do it on his own.
I think you guys can all agree that there are politicians on both sides that are CORRUPT. Name calling is not going to do anything. I know we are all passionate about these issues.
Bush spent too much. We all agree.
Obama spent even more... like twice as much... you can't deny that.
Now how do you solve this problem.
I can tell you one way that will NOT WORK... raising tax rates.
Raising Taxes on the top 2%, AND on the top 20% with Obamacare. These are the Obama Tax Hikes!!
You obviously do not understand Obamacare. Please read up on it and then repost when you find your errors.
catthepat, keep thinking that skippy... talk to me in a year unless you are part of the recipient class, than you should be fine. However, if you are part of the producing class, you are f'd!
It was in the local paper how he is basically going to give illegals amnesty. Why they would want that when we don't deport them anyway and the government give them free stuff. Think not, then just to to www.welcometousa.gov and it tell them how to screw the American people over. We don't need to tax anyone more money because there are going to be enough taxes coming because of obamacare!!!
Very true, Deborah. Illegal immigration is the root of all evil. It hurts the economy, revenue, spending, health care, education, unemployment and SECURITY. You name it, it has an adverse effect on the nation.
But Republicans don't touch it because it drives wages down for corporations and corporations support the republicans.
Democrats don't touch it because it provides them with votes!
STOPPING illegal immigration is paramount to this nation's recovery.
The only way to support the influx of illegals is to raise taxes on everyone, which is why Obama will go over the cliff. He has no choice but to raise taxes across the board. He just needs to be able to blame Republicans.
The Republicans were out-maneuvered. They didn't have the foresight to see this coming. Obama will get everything he wants. The American people will pay the highest price. And the Republicans will get the blame. He is a master politician and horrible at governing and leading.
Unite Dems and Libs! Since Obama has stated repeatedly that Bush has been responsible for this bad economy, demand that those nasty bush tax cuts that were bestowed upon you by the evil Bush be taken away. Tell your commander-in-chief that you want these cuts to cease and desist immediately and you no longer wish to be associated with anything Bush. Rise up brothers and sisters and be heard!
This is awesome.....Obama is kicking a$$ and taking names....
How is he kicking ass? By raising taxes on everyone... even you... or are you one of the 50% that don't pay taxes but still manage to have access to the Internet and waste everyone's time by posting nonsense.
Do you have any facts to backup your position?
Yes I do...and I am guessing I paid more taxes in my life than you will ever approach. "kicking A$$" definitely. He has ended one war, is ending another, he pulled W's economy from the Abyss, and....HE WON THE ELECTION. Go cry your little eyes out honey...you lost....
Please... I don't care who won the election. I only care about the nation and the future of this nation for my child. You just want a handout. I paid more in taxes last year than you will ever make.
Great facts by the way... Unemployment up from 9.9% to 14.4% in blacks and up 4% in hispanics since he took office. The unemployment dropped .2% in white people, and that is because people simply lost hope and stopped looking for jobs.
He tacked on over 6T in new debt. Taxes are going to go up on the middle class (you know... those nasty tax cuts that W instituted that Obama will allow to expire). We will go into recession and all the while China slowly buys out American companies and interest.
Muslim nations laugh at us and kill our embassadors.
Yeah... I am crying my eyes out. Because unlike you I love this country. You just like what it provides for you. You need people like me to support you. If you died today... no one would care... you would just alleviate the burden on taxpayers. If I die, you will have to get 1000 more lazy people like you to go work to replace my tax revenue.
this cliff was made by corgress to scare us in to taking what ever bull@!$%# deal they come up with they all know that we need a little tax increse some spending cuts and less intitlements you know a comprimise god forbid we work for the betterment of the country and not for the partys we the people need to stand up and nshow them we mean what we say vote every one up for reelection out then the ones that are left will get off ther asses and do what ther told
Class Welfare is nothing more than a republican talking point. I don't know that they hired a P.R. firm but anyone who pays attention can look back over the past two years and any republican, no matter where they are from or what their job is, when they get before a microphone the same sound bites come out of their mouth. Is is like they all attended the same meeting and it is just to much alike not to have been organized in some way.
A gop Christmas
Twas the night before Christmas and all through the House, the teabaggers were screaming "John Boehner's a LOUSE.
The committees were chosen by Boehner with care, to make sure they all had white faces and blue hair.
When all of the sudden there arose such a clatter, Cantor ran to the window to see whats the matter.
In a thunderous voice Obama was shouting, "I won the election so stop all your pouting".
Out Boehner out Cantor out Old Jim DeMint, I've earned me some capital and its time that its spent.
Into the night sky went Jolly old Barry, "Happy New Year to all, and may your Christmas be merry !!!" HO HO HO !!!
You didn't answer the question; are you one of the 50% who are in the recipient class as opposed to the producing class?
That was lovely, cowboy. But exactly how will 85B in revenue from tax hikes solve the situation?
Interest on 16T national debt: $225B
Revenue generated by raising taxes on wealthy: $85B
negative Drewpy....I am a self made millionaire who was very fortunate, and I am glad to pay my fair share.
Very good cowboy was that a spur of the moment inspiration?
Good for you Cowboy!! The welfare scumbags should just say thankyou!
Once again...the people have spoken...we want the economy built from the middle out, not the top down because as with "trickle down economics", the rich just want more so nothing TRICKLES......
well then tell the middle to start creating business and taking the risk of starting the business as opposed to waiting on the 1% to do it for them.- bunch of liberal sheep
A self-made millionaire? Whatever cowboy. How long have you been unemployed?
If you are so generous, why not donate your money to poor and homeless people?
Why do you need to impose your will on others?
You complain that Christians are imposing Christmas on everyone.
You complain when people discriminate against southerners, fat people, black people, Jews, but have no problem discriminating against taxpayers. Just make them pay more... that's fair!!!
Nobody in this country is taxed by the federal government based on how wealthy they happen to be - not constitutional. People with wealth invest according to how much after-tax income those investments make based on the amount of risk taken. When you change the tax rate it will change how people invest. No telling what the unintended consequences might be if LT Cap Gains taxes are raised from 15% to 23.5%, an increase of over 56%.
Stick to your guns John. Tell Obama to stuff his taxes and his welfare and unemployment programs!! Obama is turning this country into a 3rd world country and all the lazy, bottom feeders can find a job or live on a park bench. With Obama's new estate/inheritance taxes, your kids inheritance gets taxed at 55%. So the money that you've already been taxed on ... will get taxed again when it comes time that your kids are to inherit your hard earned money. If that doesn't piss you off ... then you are ignorant or have no business being a parent.
This is all old news. Ross Perot was talking about what needed to be done about the national debt, entitlements, and free trade in the 1992 election. Clinton, Bush, and Obama have not addressed anything. That`s 20 years ago. The chickens are coming home to roost. The rest of the world will not continue to finance our debt spending, and risk not being repaid. Clinton passed NAFTA, and started the free trade with China. People are finally starting to wake up to what both parties have done. The real money is with the middle class for taxes. Give it time.
The debt needs to be addressed but the world still seems to think that the best place for their money is the U.S. One of the reasons the republicans have little credability is because they compare this country to Greece and come up with these other scare factors that are not legitimate. Only the least educated and misinformed among us listen to these scare tactics.
Folks,
The real end game is to default on the national debt there is no way possible that we can continue to pay the interest on the current level of debt and estimated future debts levels ( add 1 trillion per year). It is estimated that by 2020 the yearly interest on estimated 24 trillion debt level will be over a trillion per year. That's currently 1/3 of todays entire budget just to pay the interets on prior spending. The endgame is that we will default by 2020 (7 years from now) and we will reset the entire entitlement program ( Medicare, medicad and SS) since once you default, borrowing from the bond market will either no longer be there or if it is will be at a high risk interest premium i.e. Greece. Obama and Bohner or just talking nickles and dimes the real end game is coming. Its not if, it's when
erskine bowles, co-chair of the debt commission, stated on a sunday talk show that in addition to revenue it will take spending cuts to address the debt problem. he went on to say it's spending that is driving the deficits. bowles was the former chief of staff for bill clinton. why don't we see bowles comments referenced anywhere? raise revenue any way you want it won't fix the problem. what part of an annual deficit of 1 trillion (40% of our spending) plus for the last four and at least the next four years don't we seem to get? are we lemmings?
It sure is wonderful to be living in the greatest country on the planet...GOD BLESS AMERICA !!!!
At least for a few more years!! Wait until 2016 and we'll how much damage Barry has done?
take a deep breath bash...and hold it for FOUR MORE YEARS !!!!
cowboy17 , Have a very merry christmas !!!!!!!!!
Thank God for America!!!!! And all of us!!!!!
Funny in a strange way. Conservative posters here talk about "giving libs all the taxes they want". Seems to escape them that conservatives benefit from Lib positions on the tax hikes. If we go the GOP route, taxes on ALL income goes up. If we take the lib position, taxes on the wealthiest go up. Seems too funny that the libs are the party calling for tax cuts and the conservatives are the party calling for tax hikes.
Woodbuctcher taxing the 2% is nothing but politics that you liberals seem focused on that wont fix anything ( hell that just gets eaten up by the 80 billion that Obama wants in spending for Sandy in NY, NJ and Conn). So we get in another 64 billion a year and spend a trillion. Get real the problem is spending - Just make sure you look into your kids eyes and tell them that from your deeds they are going back to live in the stone age once the bond vigilantes stop lending to us. Great parent you are.
Actually Govt spending is down under Obama from the Bush years so thanks but you are WRONG again.
Ofcourse eliminating the Bush tax cuts helps with the annual budget. Stop listening to Limbaugh.
Can we just jump off the darn cliff already! Is the world going to end? Will anything really change? Is there even a freakin' cliff to begin with?
If you don't know the answer to that .... then wait!! Pick out a nice park bench, put your name on it and have your mail forwarded there!!
So, the US mail service will continue after we plunge off the cliff? Gosh, if they can survive the fall anyone can.
Apparently Mitt is opening a gym for boxers after his last minute words with Pacqiow led him to the canvas...His other business was him and Paul Ryans brain child. With Mitts fake food drive skills and Pauly's fake dish washing they were going to open a Pretend restaurant...kind of an "All you can't eat" place....they called it...."Try and Eat"......
Seems the rightwingnuts luv to just spew talking points they hear from Limbaugh or Hannity and ignore that they are falsehoods. What did Romney do all during the campaign? Lied thru his teeth. Seems to be the norm for Republicans these days., No decency from the christian party. How surprising
Cowboy... typical liberal... no facts... no debate.... just lies and hatred, name-calling and discrimination.
None of this is worth anyone getting upset over and most of it will work out. If Romney had won and we were now looking at the republican party taking control of a women's body we would really have something to fear.
That is just a ridiculous statement. I am pro-choice. In fact, I am pro-abortion, because it is cheaper to abort stupid people than to pay to raise them, feed them, pay for their Obamacare and give them government jobs.
I don't agree with the Christian right and their definition of abortion and murder.
But Romney not wanting to pay for women's contraception is hardly controlling their bodies.
He wasn't saying you have to go get pregnant or have babies against your will. He is saying that men and women need to take responsibility. If you don't want to have kids, practice safe sex or don't have sex at all.
Again... I don't subscribe to this, but neither does the supreme court. If Romney was in office, it wouldn't even have come up. Nothing would have changed regarding abortion. Romney would be too busy fixing Obama's spending problem.
But it this point we do not have to have any concern about it coming up at all and that is reassuring.
No... instead you have to decide if anyone will be able to afford having a child. Because there will be no one left to pay for them. The more children poor people have the more they get. The more they get, the more they want. The more they want, the more kids they have to fix their addiction.
And then 60% of Americans won't pay taxes. Then 70%. And then there will be laws like in China prohibiting more than 1 child. And no females because they control population. And where will your precious freedom be then???
Everything is inter-connected. You vote for Obama because of one issue which is almost a non-issue. Why, because you are selfish. Don't get too upset. Humans are selfish by nature. So of course we vote based on personal issues and decisions. But sometimes we need to look at the future and the big picture.
I don't like guns. I like abortion. I don't like organized religion. I like freedom. I like small government with more freedoms. I like education. Fiscal responsibility. I like a nation where you can succeed if you work hard. I like a nation that lets you keep what you earn.
No one candidate can get me everything I want. But abortion vs bankrupting the nation? Bankrupting Medicare and Social Security? No way.
Everything you mention has to do with over population and isn't the real way to address that by aggressive population control with sex education and birth control being readily avilable.
Medicare will bankrupt itself if nothing is done to massively restructure the program.
Don't you love how Peter always uses fear to promote his agenda? It's how W won his second election, it's why miltary spending would have gone berserk if Mitt Gordon Gekko Romney had won. Spending would not go down overall under Romney, only which rich would profit from it from the selling of fear.
