President Barack Obama will accept unlimited corporate contributions to help finance his 2013 inauguration, a shift from 2009, when corporate funding was barred and per-person donations were capped at $50,000.
The president's inaugural committee made the decision, which was first reported by Politico, because, they said, contributions from individuals alone would not raise enough to cover the price tag of all the events.
"Our goal is to make sure that we will meet the fundraising requirements for this civic event after the most expensive presidential campaign in history," Addie Whisenant, spokesperson for the Presidential Inauguration Committee, said in a statement.
The inaugural committee in 2008 said that its ban on corporate funding, among other initiatives, would help "underscore their commitment to change business as usual in Washington."
Lobbyists and political action committees are still barred from donating, and there will be no sponsorship agreements. All corporate contributions will be vetted and the committee will not accept any from companies who accepted TARP funds and haven't paid them back yet.
The inaugural committee also notes that these are the same guidelines to which civic organizations like arts museums and the American Red Cross adhere.

Ad'M- Good suggestion. He could then use the new buses that cost over a million dollars each to go around the country. He could cut security since he has had more than ALL other presidents in history. He has no foreign policies worth a damn so he doesn't need to leave the USA. No one wants to see him anyway except his lost sheep.

If Obama truly gave a damn about this country, he would wave the full inauguration and keep it very simple due to limited funds in the til. But then again,Obama is working up towards a coronation, after the 2nd term expires for his life term appointee! He is working on his executive power circumventing the 14th Amendment like foreign Presidents, Chavez and other Dictators have done in their countries. Believe it or not!!

The Top earners account for over 2 thirds of the taxes now. If Obama keeps screwing around, there won't be much tax money to collect the way he and the government are spending the little funds they are receiving now. Obama best cut the size of government and pay as you go program like Germany does. If you don't have the money to buy something, you wait til you can pay for something. But with the asinine mentality that has been in government so far, during this administration, doesn't look good for the next 4 years.

Obama is simply a lying hypocrite. He got elected by pandering to every special interest group there is, promising everything to everyone. The average white Obama voter is better-educated than the average white Romney voter. As a matter of fact, the more years of education the voter had, the more likely he or she is to have voted for President Obama.

As long as it ain't taxpayer's blood and sweat, who gives a hoot. Now the First Lady can put her finishing touches on all the details and special invitations. Obama will have some big time obligations for $billion plus in campaign donations from the big wigs (Soros). Hope it doesn't come in the form of green energy and stimulus spending cronyism....

I'm happy Obama was re-elected. And I'm cool if there's no 'pomp and circumstance' surrounding his re-inauguration. In light of the financial problems in this country, I think a simple ceremony in the Capitol's rotunda with the House of Reps, Congress and a few ex-presidents in attendance with hors d'oeuvres being served after the swearing in ceremony would be best. These politicians gotta start cutting back on the illicit spending somewhere.
The dunces just havent figured out yet that the ONLY thing they have won is an election . Obama wants to extend the tax cuts for the middle class right now. The republicans are so adamant about getting the break extended for the very top, they are holding hostage those who really need the tax cut even though the republcans themselves have nothing against giving it to them.
