President Barack Obama will accept unlimited corporate contributions to help finance his 2013 inauguration, a shift from 2009, when corporate funding was barred and per-person donations were capped at $50,000.
The president's inaugural committee made the decision, which was first reported by Politico, because, they said, contributions from individuals alone would not raise enough to cover the price tag of all the events.
"Our goal is to make sure that we will meet the fundraising requirements for this civic event after the most expensive presidential campaign in history," Addie Whisenant, spokesperson for the Presidential Inauguration Committee, said in a statement.
The inaugural committee in 2008 said that its ban on corporate funding, among other initiatives, would help "underscore their commitment to change business as usual in Washington."
Lobbyists and political action committees are still barred from donating, and there will be no sponsorship agreements. All corporate contributions will be vetted and the committee will not accept any from companies who accepted TARP funds and haven't paid them back yet.
The inaugural committee also notes that these are the same guidelines to which civic organizations like arts museums and the American Red Cross adhere.

And when he does Phuk it up,like he always does, his followers push the repeat button,But Bush, but Romney, and Reagan, and blah blah blah, instead of holy crap guys you were RIGHT,Obama is a is a dictator, compulsive lier, and completely incompetent,we are so sorry for screwing over the whole USA,is there anything we can do to fix this? And we reply,it's going to be a fight so just sit back and let those of us who know how to run a Country do our Job,and you kids sit back and learn so you don't get fooled again.
BTW he also isn't a Black man he is a light skinned ARAB,it's okey we know he lied about that too.50%Caucasian,40%Arab,10%Kenyan
Obama....the corporate puppet.......
As a staunch left-winger, I would like to say that I agree with your assessment of Obama 100%. His financial "reform" was a joke, leaving plenty of wiggle room for future abuses which are undoubtedly taking place right now. Obama does, however, at least be practical enough to try to temper the greed at the top a tiny little bit so as not to have the entire economy collapse from their greed. The republicans actually have the nerve to criticize the tiny little bit of a move toward fairness as "socialism" and "communism" and half the country is so incredibly stupid, they actually BUY this nonsense.
When he starts to suck the cash out of YOUR wallet, let's see you call it "fairness".
I'm not sure what would be worse, the Mayan prediction of the end of the world or another 4 years of ZERO-bama!
leroy brown
Are you referring to Senator Obama who have "evolved" as President Obama? Or were you referring to Mr. Romney, which has absolutelty nothing to do with where we are today?

Just another typical modern-day, narcissistic, self-involved, self-aggrandizing American ... possessing ethics only when it's not inconvenient for him.
It turns out he's just a hack like the all the rest.....
Do people still get upset when fiscal conservatives refer to taxation and other deeply financial regulatory control as "rendering unto Caesar"? These inaugural galas make old Roman Triumphs look like casual gatherings. It's not coincidental that the word inaugural stems from the wort augur, ancient Roman priests who divined the will of The Gods by observing the flights of birds. Still just as silly and superstitious as ever so the etymological uses of the words aren't all that dissimilar. Two thousand years doesn't alter the fact that deeply Statist functions operate with superstition, and gaudy displays of consumption and frivolity to cover up that fact.
When was the last time a president set a good example from either party. I'm not saying Obama doesn't deserve the party but if he cancelled the show and said we have too much work to do, he would be the man.
I have to disagree with everyone who wants the parties canceled. That's a give up/give in mentality. America is the land of hope and better things being right around the corner. Defeatist attitude.
There's a cliff around the corner... and then an abyss...
In the meantime, the Obama's will be attending a concert by PSY, a South Korean who benefited from the sacrifices of U.S. Servicemen and our taxpayers.
Here's how he feels about us.
Yeah, just the kind of person the President should be applauding.
If the guy had rapped that 'illegals oughta be deported' or 'ladies oughta buy their own pills' the concert would be cancelled in a heartbeat.
Murder an mayhem is an entirely different subject.
Glad to see we've got our priorities straight.
Still waiting for my Obama victory coins...clad in 24K gold!
The Republicans thought unleashing a tsunami of corporate money with the Citizens United decision would have swamped the opposition. Turns out, it was a double-edged sword - and the Democrats were able to stave off the onslaught with corporate and private donations. Republicans have little moral ground to stand on in situations like this...
Bribe me or else !!!

This is the phone number to The White (sold out to corporate) House. I suggest we jam up the switchboard and tell them exactly what we think!
Lol
Ron
you can also request government form ID-10-T with that number to have your federal tax returned to you if you don't like how the government is spending it. Get it while supplies last.
There are Republican lip marks all over the corporate asses - and have been forever. Will: $ wise the Dems have been ahead all along. Just look at the taxpayer money Obama used to buy votes and Obama hit Wall Street as well as the Repubs; not to mention Hollywood. Do you think anyone from the "middle class" attended one of his $40,000 a plate dinners?
All i can say is good luck to all the people with union jobs, goverment jobs and people on unemployment that voted for this unamerican fool, you guys are a bunch of fools (uneducated to)
Obama won the top 10 states in education by wide margins. Romney won all of the bottom 10 states in education except Nevada.
lou - you are the uneducated fool.
Why would a private sector company want to give. This president hates success and the private sector.
So 0bama will take unlimited donations from all the "evil" corporations? Will the libs bitch about that?
NAWWWWWWWW!,... I didn't think so.
SUCKERS!!!

For all you unfortunates who voted for this guy twice--how's that "CHANGE" goin' for ya??? Same ol, same ol!!
We name sports arenas after corporate sponsors. Perhaps we could call it the Nike House. Or the Google House. Probably should stay away from calling it the Twitter House.
Maybe the Obama's would like to name the PSY wing of the White House.
Kindred spirits?
Sorry to break up the party here guys but Detroit is on the phone... something about a bailout. Oh, and California is on hold. Would one of you generous democrats take the call?
PS Now Obama's on the phone too... something about a blank check...
Yep... that liberal tax and spend, regulate and unionize stuff has really worked out for them. And they now, like the companies that were "too big to fail" and homeowners who borrowed more than they could afford, students who borrowed more than they could afford, expect to be bailed out.
We have taken to rewarding failed processes and stupidity and taxing, regulating and stifling creativity and entrepreneurship. Detroit and Michigan was in the tank 30 years ago when I left. And they are still doing the same thing following the same failed models.....
There is a reason that Obama is the first president ever to win by a closer popular and electoral vote margin than he won the first time-if he even won at all?. He just got enough moderates gullible enough to put him over the top by convincing them that he could govern from the middle(like he ever did the first time).
@AmericanGirl
You talk about the American people, but you forget that the conservatives you hate so much make up nearly half the country. You screwball liberals only make up around 20%.
Romney won big in the deep south. There just weren't enough hillbillies and rednecks to put him over the top.
Reagan Inauguration Nations Most Expensive

President Obama needs a ceremony that is fit for a King.
And the we the serfs and working class will gladly watch, "ooohhh and ahhhh" over it while the debt clock creaps up and our credit rating tanks even further.
...did anyone else notice that the korean singer psy had a 'musical' rant about the u.s. about ten years ago? apparently he had nothing flattering to say about the u.s. or our military. but only now, that he'll be appearing at obama's inaugural, he's 'come to his senses' and recants. seems just a little too convenient for me.
People are out of work and we are wasting millions, not only on the elections, but now an inauguration. This has nothing to do with Obama, but every President that wins a second term. We do not need another inauguration.
But the worse thing of all is that all the money donated comes with expecting something in return. And that is just wrong.
Imagine what Romney had to promise the Koch brothers to get their 400 million. And promise Sheldon Adelson to get his 150 million. And Karl Rove to get his 300 million. These people were almost running the country.
Tax the crap out of them and then take donations? This man has cojones. Hate on them. Take their profits. Regulate the crap out of them and then gratiously take as much as they will donate? Wonder who's pockets are being lined?
We deserve what this man gives us. We deserve bankruptcy. Jobs lost due to more taxes, fees and regulations. We voted him in. We deserve him and the consequences. Only hope that our grandkids can overlook the $16 Trillion Debt and lower credit rating he has gratiously given them....
Odumbo just keep on spending!!!
Shave a few strokes off of your golf game and let Moochele take more expensive vacations on the taxpayers dime.
A so- called president that is a puppet on a string. When he is out in 4 years America will be even farther in the toilet.
Oh that is right the unemployment rate is going down but that is because so many Americans have ran out of unemployment and have quit looking for jobs.
The reason 51% of Americans voted for him was because Romney made the mistake of telling them he was going to put Americans back to work. The 51% said Hell no we don't want to work for a living!
Actually it's because the last republican president put record numbers of people in the unemployment lines and Romney wanted to go back to the same failed policies. There were just too many voters with IQs over 95.
Jim,
By your comment it just shows that your IQ is well under 50. Keep on living off of Obama while it lasts.
