O'Say Can You See PAC
Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley's PAC sent out this photo to supporters of him signing a proclamation certifying the 2012 election results. That includes a ballot initiative that passed making same-sex marriage legal in the state.
Oh say, you can see the 2016 election.
Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley (D) sent out a letter through his “O’Say Can You See PAC” (yes, that is its real name) touting his signing of a proclamation certifying the 2012 election results.
“This means that Maryland courthouses can now issue licenses to same-sex couples to get married starting in January 2013,” O’Malley writes.
Following that is a large photo of O’Malley signing in his office.
He adds, “After months of hard work, we came together to pass a bill that treats everyone fairly and equally under the law while protecting religious freedom. We then became the first state ever to defend marriage equality at the ballot box. We still face tremendous challenges as a nation, but it is my sincere hope that we can come together to meet those challenges with greater respect for the dignity of every individual. Maryland, let's continue to move forward.”
“Forward” was President Obama’s 2012 campaign slogan. And there’s a big, red “contribute” button at the bottom of the email.
O'Malley's term as governor is up in January 2015. He is thought to be mulling a bid for president in 2016.

O'Malley has done a great job here in Maryland, especially considering the circumstances. Not only was Maryland facing the same economic woes as the rest of the country, but it also had a serious "structural" deficit. O'Malley has made remarkable progress with relatively little sacrifice to the average citizen.
I would strongly support him for President in 2016, even though he would be a definite underdog to Hillary Clinton or Andrew Cuomo. I doubt, however, that many donors will lay out a lot of money for O'Malley with Hillary or Cuomo in the race.
This is wonderful! 'm so happy for what Gov. O'Malley is doing! The gay and lesbian people who want to get married and will fight for the right to get married are an inspiration to the heterosexuals, myself included. How many times have I seen examples of heterosexuals NOT want to get married, or get married and cheat, or become violent with the person they promised to love and cherish and want to injure their partners, or spend their time disparaging their partners and trying to destroy their partner's dreams. It doesn't matter what the genders are of the people involved, it matters that they want to uphold the partnership values that marriage represents. It's wonderful to see. Actually, I recently met a heterosexual couple who are in dire straits right now. The wife is 20 years older than the husband and she is ill, but it is amazing to see how devoted they are to each other; how loyal; how they think of each other before themselves. Great to see wonderful things happening one person at a time1
Sorry to disagree, but Homosexual marriage in no way "represents" values. Also to think that violence, divorce, adultery and the like will not be found in Homosexual couples is a bit naive. I am happy that you find these marriages an inspiration. I do not not. I find them to be an abomination, as does God. What governor O'Malley is doing is called "pandering", not governing.
There are countless abominations/sins listed in the Bible. Most humans commit them on a daily basis and I am going to assume you are one of them. Don't you think true Christians should spend more time praying & atoning for their own sins, rather than judging & condemning others.
Romans 2:1-4 "..Therefore you have no excuse, O man, every one of you who judges. For in passing judgment on another you condemn yourself, because you, the judge, practice the very same things.."
Also, with regard to others speaking of the "gay agenda", what exactly would that be?I'm just curious.
sorry to disagree, but it represents the values of a majority of americans, who support it. it may not represent YOUR values, but "too bad so sad". :)
what gov o'malley is doing is called leading and providing equal rights, not stubbornly holding onto religious bigotry. :)
gee pastor65,
its nice to see someone who is so religious and is an advocate of - love, kindness, acceptance etc. - is also an advocate of hatred towards homosexuals
its rather contradictory, don't you think ?
its about love between two consenting adults who happen to be of the same gender, if you can't get your head wrapped around that then YOU are the one with the problem, not anyone else.
and its rather shameful to blame a God who may or may not exist. you don't speak for God, only he does (at least that's what i'm told), to assume you know his will or thoughts is rather arrogant.
you can't reference the bible either for its written by Man and NOT God. its also been rewritten so many times that no one can vouch for its validity since no one alive currently was around at that time
you want to claim you are religious and follow your God's teachings of love, acceptance etc ? then why don't you actually spend your time doing that instead of spewing hatred towards homosexuals, ok ?
thanks :)
Love, commitment and monogamy are bad things? What sort of "pastor" are you?
Equal rights for all Americans is a bad thing? Sounds like you're a Republican.
pastor65 - just die already
Actually, Skrekk, I am a "Christian"...the real kind....the one that still believes that Homosexuality is sin (amid a host of other things). Love, yes..commitment, yes...Monogamy, yes....but not in a homosexual relationship.
Ahhh...the hatred word arises from other posters ( I knew it would). You obviously do not understand the meaning of hatred. To tell someone the error of their ways, and show them a better path, is actually the highest form of Love, not hatred. It is those who desire to continue in their evil ways that deem it to be hate, with the exception of those who actually hear, and turn their lives around. Those who do, feel love, those who don't claim hatred. It is actually quite a simple concept.
God's loves almost everyone. Just because he loves someone does not mean he condones what they do, accepts them in their sinful state, and allows them entrance into his kingdom. Quite the opposite. His love is shown by offering SALVATION to a sinful society, not acceptance without change.
ah, pastor is the REAL christian. lol. I wonder if jesus gave him a certificate? :)
Ahhh......that explains why you're a hater, because you're a "real Christian."
From what I can tell you're a follower of the zealot Paul, not a follower of Jesus.
Skrekk, you might want to brush up on your new testament historical facts. Paul WAS a follower of Jesus Christ.
Apparently in the same way that David Duke was a follower of Gandhi.
umh, I don't think Mr. Duke started any of his writings like Paul did...."Paul, a follower of Christ" Paul also met Jesus ( on the road to Damascus) as the foundation for his conversion. Once again....brush up on biblical history before spewing false ideas.
Given that Paul never actually met your Jesus, it explains why Paul's philosophy of hate contradicts Jesus' philosophy of love.
No surprise that a bigot like you is a follower of Paul and not a follower of Jesus. Gandhi was talking about you when he said: “I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ.”
Paul was confronted by Jesus on the Damascus Road, I think that counts as "meeting him". Your warped ideology does not hold water. Paul was a follower, and iconic teacher of the ways of Christ. I do not follow Paul, but I do remember his words...."Follow me, as I follow Christ". You are correct there are many "Christian's" who are in label only. They do not follow the true teachings of the Bible. Jesus never taught inclusion, tolerance or acceptance of those who will not turn from sin. Sorry, but you are once again wrong, and need to re-educate yourself in biblical theology.
Your Jesus was already dead by then. Paul never actually met the living Jesus, and that explains why he seems to know nothing about his philosophy.
It's rather like David Duke claiming to have met Gandhi after he was dead, and therefore both share the same ideology (not).
You're quite obviously a Paulist, not a follower of Jesus. Your Jesus wasn't a hater like you are.
You do not seem to grasp basic bible theology, so I will attempt to make this simple for you. Jesus died, was buried, and resurrected. This is the basis for Christianity then and now. Paul met the LIVING, resurrected Jesus, as stated by his own testimony, as well as that of others (Ananias, etc..) You can claim I am a follower of whomever you like, but the truth of the matter is, if someone follows Jesus, they follow the teachings of Paul, as well as the writings of the other Apostles (which were inspired by Christ). Your attempt to separate the two, shows your lack of Biblical knowledge and desire to argue rather than be enlightened.
I am a Republican and really don't give a rat's arse about a voluntary civil issue that affects 4% of the population. God bless 'em and let's move on to important matters for once.
I do care 24M Americans are unemployed, businesses are still in bear mode, and we now have a bonehead who already got $800B for jobs stimulus that wants another $200B for more of the same. Insane.
O'Malley? I will say this he is honest. He had the guts to admit the economy had not recovered under Obama. But he just another run of the mill, Huey P. Long-style, populist and panderer. No substance.
You mean equality is for everyone??
I was sure just straight , white men is what the Founding Fathers intended.
Just 2 more years and this clown will be out of office!! Marylanders are paying much higher taxes and fees across the board under his reign of terror, and his "shoving" of Homosexual marriage down citizens throats is less than appealing. He is a TRUE politician with higher goals. He actually thinks he can be president! Either way he will not be on the ballot anytime soon, and that is a win for all of us.
lol, pastor, do you fantasize about someone "shoving" something down your throat? :)
another blathering of the GOP - tell me something pastor65; how many child molesters are part of your staff?
I see you just can't stay on the issues. No mention of the higher taxes and fees (you obviously can't refute the truth). No Mention of O'Malley's political pandering (everyone knows this) . Just attacks, name calling and death wishes....how droll. Now who is the "tolerant" one?
pastor: explain how anyone is "shoving this down your throat" (lol). How does it change a thing for you? We all know the answer: it doesn't.
You're just burned because you can't control other people's lives with your own homophobic bigotry.
that's the issue..try to stay on it. :)
vermont, you're perverted.
Do you bigots oppose both geography and civil rights?
I'm not. Its just very very amusing how many anti-gay rights people use the phrase about "something being shoved down their throat". ya gotta admit, its pretty funny. :)
To "AlaskaGirl" - You obviously judge a book by it's cover. Although I agree 100% with the bill he signed that allows gay marriage, there is a lot about him you don't see. Martin O'Malley has never met a tax increase he didn't love, a special interest group he isn't happy to support, nor has he ever taken the blame for any of the misuse of tax monies to fund these groups. God help this country if he were to gain higher office. (and No, I am not a Republican). But, I will give the Devil his due. He worked very hard to win these rights for the gay community and I salute him for that.
O’Malley for President!
CHESTY IS A HOMOSEXUAL IN DENIAL! Why should straight people should feel threatened by gays?? What two consenting adults do is none of my business. I believe he is jealous (and envoius) that finally gays are getting better acceptance and are being treated equally, and he is buried deep under a pile of clothes inside his closet, angry at himself because he does not have the balls to come out and he lashes out and attacks the ones that did had the balls to go on with their lives.
PASTOR.... I hope you are not a pedophile in sheep's clothes, religious pederasts always seem to hide in the church. Anyway how can you prove and guarantee your book (bible) is accurate and real??? There are many fiction books out there and what's written in them is just that...fiction. If you cannot prove that your book is real (and you can't, "inspired" writers in the book of manipulation cannotbe held accountable and are therefore unreliable). Religious books have no power over politics and the will of the majority of Americans who vote and decide whats best for them, religions (and their fanatics) should not meddle with the federal government or state affairs (separation of church and state), I suggest you move to Iran which is a theocracy and is ruled by their magic and fairy tales book. Here you are obsolete and our laws are not based on religious books.
