If Congress can't agree on a deal to avert the fiscal cliff, the president said taxes will rise by about $2,000 for the average family. NBC's Kristen Welker reports.
HATFIELD, Pa. -- President Obama today continued his efforts to push Congress to extend the Bush-era tax cuts for income below $250,000 with a visit to a toy factory here in suburban Philadelphia.
"We talked about this a lot... We had debates about it. There were a lot of TV commercials about it," Obama said. “At the end of the day, a clear majority of Americans -- Democrats, Republicans, independents -- they agreed with a balanced approach to deficit reduction and making sure that middle-class taxes don't go up.”
Recommended: White House 'surprised' by GOP 'surprise'
The non-partisan Tax Policy Center says if these tax cuts expire at the end of the year -- as they are set to do -- about 90% of Americans would paid more in taxes and middle-income families would see their taxes rise by about $2,000.
Obama didn’t present any new ideas in his first speech since House Republicans rejected Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner’s proposal that he presented in meetings with congressional leadership yesterday. That proposal included $1.6 trillion in tax increases, $400 billion in cuts to Medicare and other programs, and ending Congress' control of the debt limit.
But Obama did couch his frustration with Congress in humor.
“I've been keeping my own naughty and nice lists for Washington," he said at a Rodon Group plant that makes the popular K'nex brand of toys. "So you should keep your eye on who gets K'NEX this year. There are going to be some members of Congress who get them, and some who don't."

President Barack Obama looks over a rollercoaster with K'NEX Inventor Joel Glickman, left, and Rodon Group President and Chief Executive Officer Michael Araten, right, during a tour of the company in Hatfield, Pa. Friday, Nov. 30, 2012.
Even the seriousness of the country’s fiscal health couldn’t keep the president from joking about his affable vice president.
Talking about the colorful toys in the factory, Obama said, “Joe Biden was in Costco. He wanted to buy some of this stuff. But I told him he had too much work to do. I wasn't going to have him building roller coasters all day long.”

I guess I fail to understand the math here. How is 2% of the population entitled to 55% of the representation in our Congress?
That's priceless rennie. I may steal that one. I guess the sad answer is that they paid for that 55%.
I guess I fail in math here. How is 2% of the population expected to pay 80% of the tax burden in this country? When over 50% pay NOTHING and get money back at the end of the year.
You must be talking about the Senate
A Vet with Romnesia, When you were enlisted you didn't pay any taxes either! Most of the people that don't pay Federal income tax pay payroll taxes every paycheck! So whats your damn POINT
Well obviously they have more than 2 percent support, otherwise they wouldn't have gotten elected.
The only explanation for Republican behavior is that Republicans have (and have had) a "plan" for America
that is extraordinarily way beyond sinister: Republicans and their cronies actually believe that they can control the world. They believe that they can turn the United States workforce into the equivalent of a third-world workforce. Put another way, they are purposely trying to drive down the standard of living of the 98% so that it can be controlled and exploited even more than they are now. Power-drunk Republicans and power-drunk companies (not all) think they can manipulate the world economy and even other nations like China. They think not of the United States or this State or that State (foreign nations) but are now thinking of themselves as the world controllers and the world as its workforce and market. In other words, America, its citizens and the United States government are relevant – only as long it these entities are "useful" to the ultra greedy, powerful and wealthy (again, not all are part of this). Think of the Republican "plan" as being the "Landlord of the World", the "Warlord" of the world, the "Company Store" of the world. It puts "1984" thinking to shame. All of this was blatantly clear during the Bush-Cheney years. It is also clear that, as a party, the GOP has not given up on this "dream". Looking at the wackiness, the nutty talk, ideas, etc, etc, etc coming from the Republicans and the right wing, there can be no limit on any interpretation of the Republican "plan" for America and the world. Just look at the evidence since 2000 and the Republican disaster that has taken place…
will, if the republicans are the power drunk ones please explain why the dems (Harry Reid) is pushing to eliminate the filibuster and the White House agrees and Obama's proposal eliminates congress from the debt ceiling process?
Reid does not want to ELIMINATE the filibuster, but modify it. Please read which one piece of the filibuster process he wants to change.
You please read Obama's proposal for debt ceiling increases
Julia, he might as well eliminate it:
Reid has proposed to use the Constitutional option, nicknamed the "nuclear option," because it would only require 51 votes to pass at the start of the next Congress in January. Democrats added two seats to their majority in the 2012 election, so the party's 55 votes would guarantee the rule change of passing.
Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, told Politico that the rules change would be considered "such an abuse of power . . . It will shut down the Senate."
"I think the backlash will be severe," said Republican Oklahoma Sen. Tom Coburn R-Okla. "If you take away minority rights, which is what you're doing because you're an ineffective leader, you'll destroy the place. And if you destroy the place, we'll do what we have to do to fight back."
The president's outright support for Reid to change the rules is different than in 2011 when he mentioned changing the filibuster in his State of the Union address but did not support any of the proposals to do so.
In 2005, when Republicans proposed using the same method to pass similar changes in order to prevent Democratic stalling of Bush administration judicial nominations, Reid strongly objected to the concept.
"Some in this chamber want to throw out 214 years of Senate history in the quest for absolute power," Reid said at the time. "They think they're wiser than our Founding Fathers. I doubt that's true."
Obama, a senator at the time, said the changes would result in "majoritarian absolute power... [which] is not what our Founders intended," and felt it would "change the character of the Senate forever," according to Investor's Business Daily.

tx for the link. I will read it after dinner.
Nobody is trying to take away "minority rights", they're trying to get rid of "minority abuse". Republicans think that when they are in the minority, they should be able to control the discussion or put another way, "The tail should be able to wag the dog". And don't forget, when the Democrats were in minority, the Republicans (at that time) wanted to get rid of the filibuster. Republicans want it when they lose, they want to get rid of it when they are the majority. And the Republicans have abusing power since 2000 (at least) and continued with the abuse of minority power after 2008...
So both parties are guilty of trying to change the rules when it suits them.
Take us over the cliff, probably the only way we can get spending cuts from the Democrats.
Wheeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!! Here we go!!! Hold on peeps......
OK, how many people out there with kiddies are going to go out and spend a couple hundred dollars on a roller coaster toy with a thousand little pieces knowing full well that kiddies love to play with stuff like that, get bored, and lose all the pieces in the first 10 minutes? Looks neat, but the only winners will be the veteranarians who will be doing xrays on doggies that gobble up the little pieces all over the kiddies room and tell the owners it will all come out eventually.
Sounds like a solar panel company sham. Start a company that looks like a nice idea but has no market at cost. Get Nancy Paylosi and all the campaign fundraisers to buy up a percentage of the company at next to nothing. The Pres sends billions to help it get off the ground. The company hires a thousand employees and sells a few units and maybe spends a couple million. Then the books show the company is losing all kinds of money. Fire the employees, declare bankruptcy and divide up the billions amogst the percentage owners. get it?
We should give this mad man total control over the debt ceiling?
Oh no. Oh brother. That would be the end. In the words of the great Mrs. Thatcher "The only way for socialism to survive is to beg, borrow, or steal and we are out of those options" (Pretty sure that was it, maybe I shouldn't have put it in quotes).
To all the Republicans out there in Congress stand your ground. You're going to get blamed either way, so why not just let it go off the cliff anyway. Don't let these liberals push you around if you go to raise taxes, raise them on everybody. We all payer nobody pays and no I'm not rich, not even close to it. I don't even come close to making $250,000. I don't even come close to making hundred thousand dollars, but still you fair's fair. You will raise taxes on people must raise them on everybody. I get blamed anyway, so stand your ground, but if you don't, your names will be out there in. We know who you are in. We will replace you. It might take two years. That's okay. We can wait. I got no problem doing your there for reason to stop this man from raising taxes on anyone. He going to raise them on one you raise them on all I you like that liberals get ready for the biggest tax increase in your life, and I hope you're happy you blame it on Congress are you want. But it's your fault you wanted this man in charge. You got a neighboring get exactly what you wanted the biggest tax raised in history for going to sink, we might as well sink big and go down fast and set a slow in here all the liberals bitch. I'm tired of it. They wanted this guy so bad now suffer all suffer along with you, but that's okay, I can I can survive. So can the rest of us, but I don't think the liberals can you go to hear him scream and always to the bank in the bank is going to say I'm sorry that IRS took your money. That's what you voted for now you got to live with it. Enjoy yourself as I'm going to my sent back and laughed my butt off because all you liberals are nothing but a big joke. Now who's laughing.
I think I agree with you but half the time I could not tell what the f you are talking about.
This guy is amazing...as a president he's always suprised by all events...doesn't know ,hasn't heard anything yet,it's being looked into....and now he wants to blame congress for his bad economic record even though the senate hasn't come up with a budget since he's been in office...and Reid tabled all 30 + work related bills that congress has sent him...we wouldn't want the economy to straighten out....even more amazing that uninformed voters would re-elect him..."oh he stands for what we want"...no...in this day and age you have no excuse for being uninformed...you wanted him elected because he is myou...you believe in spending money we don't have and taxing to pay for it....
Which part of the recent elections do the imbecil Republicans on the Hill not understand? I can't wait for the 2014 Mid-Terms, where there will be few Teapublic idiots left on the Hill. Can they be this stupid? Really?
Yeah, having a one party system would be great wouldn't it?! Just think of how well off the country will become if pelosi, reid and obama have no opposition....
Typical in depth analysis of an Obama voter
The 2 parties need to get off the dime. The alternative is not an option and neither is an extension. Neither party won't even put a starting point on the table to start negotiations. And there is no bi-particanship yet.
Just as a starting point; start with eliminating the Bush era tax cut on those families making over $250,000. (protect the middle/low class), reduce Corporate/Business tax rate to make on domestic companies. ( to make american good more competitive, which should increase demand and lower unemployment). Reduce Foreign Aid and International programs by ?%. Put a cap on home interest deductions. Gradually increase the age of retirement from 65/66 to 70 years of age. Don't extend unemployment benefits. Cap / reduce social programs.
This isn't the final answer, but a place to start.
Put this on the table and start negotiating. Don't ask for a comprehensive plan because we won't go anywhere. We are trying to eat an elephant. The only way to do it is one bite at a time.
What a fu-king joke this a$$hole in the White House is. How many months has it been sence he let those 4 men in Lybia get butchered while he did NOTHING. That Co-ksucker shouyld be IMPEACHED. All the liberl cried Impeach Nixon he lied he lied . But where are they now. Nixon didn't kill anybody like Obama did.
You are misinformed Obama was not responsible for their deaths unlike your man Bush when hundreds of thousands of people died on his orders.
Let it go Vet. As hard as Faux News is trying to create a scandal out of this, it has no legs. Do you remember on Reagan's watch when 230 marines were killed in their barracks in Lebanon? I don't remember people turning that into a political witch hunt and trying to blame the president. The world is full of bad people intent upon doing bad things. Move on.
The Campaigner in Chief can't seem to stay at home and do his damn job. How about leading!! He's cracking jokes on his tour, this is really not funny. None of us know what our taxes are next year.
Do you make enough for it to matter?
I didnt know presidents were supposed to stay home. I think being on the road talking to working americans is presidential.
Does he ever take responsibility for anything? I guess he cant becasue he never does anything. ALways blaming someone else.
“Fiscal cliff” is the popular shorthand term used to describe the conundrum that the U.S. government will face at the end of 2012, when the terms of the Budget Control Act of 2011 are scheduled to go into effect.
Just drive off the cliff!!!
The United States fiscal cliff is a term referring to the economic effect of a number of laws which (if unchanged) could result in tax increases, spending cuts, and a corresponding reduction in the budget deficit beginning in 2013. These laws include tax increases due to the expiration of the Bush tax cuts and spending cuts under the Budget Control Act of 2011. The Congressional Budget Office reported an increased risk of recession during 2013 if the deficit is reduced suddenly, while indicating that lower deficits and debt would in time improve long-term economic growth. The deficit for 2013 is projected to be reduced by roughly half. Further, over the next ten years, projected increases in the United States public debt would be lowered by as much as $7.1 trillion or about 70%, resulting in a considerably lower ratio of debt relative to the size of the economy.
ken101ad ...the republicans in congress were voted back in to stop the uncontrolled spending...and if your hero doesn't get control of his spending sprees you can expect people to vote against the dems next time...don't be silly ...do you actually think we can keep spending money we don't have? Look at president Clinton...he came into office leaning left and found he had to move to the center to get a balanced budget...he had a republican congress he worked with to get that budget...Obama is too bull headed to work with the republicans and you want to blame it all on the congress? For some reason the press and people like you think the American people are too dumb to see what's happening...Obama won the presidency but America left republicans in the majority in congress fo a reason.
The spending spree was initiated by our previous administration. The current administration has had to bailout a lot of companies, pay a lot of unemployment, put a couple of illegal wars on the books along with an unfunded medicare supplemental program that was also unaccounted for.
Not blaming someone else, just stating the history of the debt.....
I am of the opinion that most Americans would prefer to see us go over the cliff if that is what it takes to finally rid ourselves of the temporary Bush Tax Cuts for the rich that cost our government trillions that go to the rich, who don't need it! We all know Republicans are refusing to negotiate a fair deal!
The fair deal Republicans seem to prefer is one of blockage and blame and hostage-taking of our economy, with no regard to our citizens, while Republicans hate the fact that Democrats won the election, and Republicans would rather crash our economy than take an active part in resolving the issues!
Republicans would rather use their media machine to cast doubt on the Democrats, while Republicans plan on winning the next election, while using the false premise that the continuing recession is because President Obama is unwilling to negotiate! This is not new! This is just a continuation of the last four years.
Republicans only seem to be interested in reducing the rights of women, reducing the ability of our poor and Middle Class to be able to move up in economic status, and putting legislation into our bedrooms, while Republicans would trade all the wealth, health and retirements away from the Middle Class, for one more chance to prove to the Corporate backers of the Republican Party that they can win, if they just get one more chance.....
Americans need to shout Republicans down, who refuse to put their cards on the table for all Americans to see! Hiding behind closed doors, negotiating nothing worthwhile, just for the resultant news cycle Republicans will use to convince us "Obama is not the one negotiating" is ridiculous!
We all know the Republicans only serve at the mercy of the rich Koch Brothers and the Sheldon Adelsons and the insane Grover Norquist, Rush Limbaugh, and Michael Savages and Karl Roves of their party!
Where is the sane Republican? We have John McCain, howling at the moon about Benghazi, while never apologizing to one soldier for lying about a mushroom cloud possibility he was willing to scare Americans into a war with Iraq with!
Who is the sane leader of the Republican Party? Or is it that they are all just puppets to the rich and don't need leadership when they already get their marching orders from the folks I just mentioned?
What America needs is more revenue, in taxes, with which to pay down our debt, while understanding that it will take decades to completely erase the damage Republican leadership caused to our nation!
Blaming President Obama for having to invest in our industries and infrastructure to make sure Americans are working is the proper thing any president must do! Republicans block every bill that would put Americans back to work!
President Obama wants to protect our "entitlements", while streamlining them in a way to make them cost less, for the same benefits! Republicans will not allow Democrats to put competitive pricing of big Pharmaceutical drugs upon the negotiating table, that could reduce government costs by 450 Billion dollars! So let's blame the Republicans for not allowing the Democrats to remove the wasted costs to our government because Republicans are afraid Big Pharma may not give them campaign contributions next election cycle!
Let's put the blame on the Republicans, who are the hand-maidens of the defense industry, and would do anything to grow it, even if it means manufacturing useless tanks! We all know that Dick Cheney's Halliburton depends on government spending on defense programs and big oil to continue its profitability! The same goes for Honeywell, GE, Lear-Siegler, General Dynamics, BlackWater (Xe) and the industries in John Boehner and Eric Cantor's voting districts!
Republicans offer nothing to Americans, except for attacks on women and minorities, for the continued profitability of the rich! Republicans grovel for the religious backers, who support Republicans, who only use them for their votes, while trying to institute Christian values that are from the old testament, not even the new testament!!
Look how Republicans are trying to belittle any rich man who may support the Democrats, because they may agree that the rich can afford some tax increases!. Republicans have no conscience when it comes to defeating the rights of our citizenry if it increases the tax burden on the rich, even if the rich see more profits as a result of our Middle Class buying more of their products! Our Middle Class needs higher wages!
Twenty-one Republicans have been confirmed so far in this latest election, and not one of those Republicans elected was gay, or a woman, or non-Christian, or any race except for white! Does this sound like they will represent anyone outside of their ethnic or religious background?
Republicans are holding America back! President Obama won the election! Democrats gained seats in the House of Representatives and seats in the Senate! Republicans did not have the majority in the election!
Even Republican voters support increasing taxes upon the rich!
Why can't the Republicans let the new President try things his way, as the people want, and let us see if Democrats can fix our economy! Republicans can always blame him later! Right now, we have things to do! We have costs to trim! Republicans need to get on board the train or it will leave them holding America back!
Holding our nation hostage for a bunch of greedy billionaires is not a solution that the majority of Americans endorse, no matter what party they represent! If Republicans do it again, Americans will vote more of them out! In the meantime, let us hope the filibuster rules are changed in the Senate, so that most normal bills can procede, without requiring a 60 vote minimum to allow any bill to even be discussed on the floor of the Senate!
Let's get to work!
I think we should have only black gay women in congress to satisfy the progressives.
so silly Buff.
Obama, the Pied Piper for the "Free Stuff" group. Is dead set, and hopeful, he'll destroy America. The most arrogant *ss to ever put a foot in DC---and there have been a LOT of arrogant *ssholes.
You must be talking about GW Bush.
He almost succeeded.
And now Obama is still trying to clean up his mess 4 years later
A response I gave to someone on another vine:
I know a few uber rich, and quite a few wealthy individuals.
First.....the issue about them paying more......it is because they CAN!!!! Also, and I know it is legal and people jump all over me when I bring this up.....they HIDE their monies, in foreign accounts, in foreign investments, in all kids of deals and double deals. I listen to my wealthy friends make jokes about it. People like you and me, and most others like us, have pretty simple accounting to deal with. I am not complaining....I have much to be grateful for, me and mine are cared for.....I have 3 small companies and work very hard each day. I have in the past worked closely with the poor, and they are so grateful for some of the things we don't even think about. For instance, once I bought a bunch of new bed pillows for some folks and their kids who didnt have any. You would have thought they got a new car!
I dont dislike or resent the wealthy for what they have. I disrespect their attitude about having it. IT IS MINE, I MADE IT. Well, I made mine too! And I share it! We are not socialists, but we share because we have it, and tho some are poor and on the dole and are lazy and just like it that way.....many many are poor and have no choice due to mental illness, generations of poverty in their families, a complete non-understanding of how to make a living (yes, it's true!), living in regional poverty where manufacturing and mining have disappeared. So when my rich friends ask me why should they pay more I answer simply.....because you can, and because you will still be millionaires if you do! Because you have benefited tremendously from living here in this great country. Because your country and some its people need you to! I don't break out the tax charts or deficit numbers to show them.....
As far as spending is concerned....if you read my previous posts Living, it's the obvious first thing that must me done. Everyone agrees on that. The argument is about WHAT GETS CUT? As you yourself stated, everyone hangs onto their own programs and policies for dear life and says not me , not me!!!
Cuts can start in the running of government itself, politicians salaries' perks and benefits (I know it's peanuts, but it is a lesson they need to remember), foreign "entitlements", corporate "entitlements", the military industrial complex (even the military is saying it doesnt need anymore!), immigration reform to legalize people who will then pay taxes, stricter oversight of welfare recipients) lifting the ban on tax exemption for churches (there are so many I've been in that preach politics, not God), silly pork programs that ensure reelection for politicians, modifications to ss and medicare for THOSE UNDER 30....I could go on and on, but I've gotta check the soup!
Seems the only way to get the cuts in spending is to go over the cliff. States like Illinois and Calif. are really going to get hit hard, they both need bail out money, in the billions.
I know I've been reading a lot of people have been saying going over the cliff is the best thing that can happen.
I don't like heights, so I don't like the metaphor. However, since both parties and the president signed a bill saying automatic cuts would take place if the fiscal situation couldn't be negotiated, at least a lot of people would shut up and they could not point fingers at each other since both sides voted for it.
Obama is demanding that the US Congress provide him with a blank check--realistic of the demi-god isn't it?
No he's not, where did you get that nonsense?
Ohhh, let me guess.
ahahahhahahahahahaha
CommonSense. Yes. President Cliff is proposing to end Congressional control of the debt limit so that he alone has control of it. That is a big problem....as he would in essence have a "Blank Check"
"He already got two, and not much good came from it, but his buddies all ran away with billions. Since the bailout, I've been laid off 6 times, lost my home, and now make 25% of what I did before Obama took office"
Stop showing up drunk for work, welfare leech.
NortheastVick, It was not Obama who laid you off. If jobs were not leaving the country so fast maybe you would still have one, however your rich Repugs only care about making money not who is making it for them. Wake up repugs do not care about you. Also why the hell are you voting repugican? Obviously you did because you bought the we are the party the church supports cra*! Wake up and take the tires off the house already.
Since when did Mr. Obama personally receive a blank check? NEVER!
In an effort to save the United States from George W. Bush's incredulous economic blunder's the President had to try something. Unlike the REPUBLICANS who DID more of what they always do: NOTHING, Mr. Obama attempted to stimulate the economy with a shot of spending money distributed throughout the country. From upgrading of infrastructure to pocket money the economy was stimulated.
The problem was that MR. BUSH did so much damage to the housing and banking industries that only time would tell how to best reconcile MR. BUSH'S gigantic blunders.
If you take the stimulus out of context it seems excessive but taken in the context of the time it made perfect sense. Otherwise, we would still be in a depression-like economy!
JOB1
you are a freaking lying piece of dog crap..
the president DOES not pay for his vacation.....
does he pay for the secret service also,,,and all of michelles servants???
yhea...............................sure he does....
better slow down obama will leave stretch marks on your lips
What president does pay for these things?
Oh...You just blame Obama.
pathetic.
Oh... You just blame Bush.
pathetic.
I blame Bush for what he left.....Why don't you?
GOP needs to take a long naked hike, maybe time for another b job in a minneapolis airport bathroom....Republicans SUCK SUCK SUCK
Because BOTH parties are to blame. You can find the truth
at other news places on the internet.
I blame Bush for what he left. I blame Obama for making what Bush left exponentially worse. Deficit spending went to a whole new level from Bush to Obama. They are both to blame...the buck stops with President Cliff.
Clinton is the real turd in this mess.
Northeast - Good point. TheAaffordable Housing Act (I think it was called) passed by Clinton in late 1999. However, Bush did little to stop or correct it either. To Clinton's credit, the deficit was nearly balanced, then the wars started and Bush stared Deficit spending all over again. But even so, Obama has spent more deficit money that Bush ever would have allowed.
Obama inherited a 1.4 trillion dollar deficit from Bush. But that is in the real world. I'm sure it is different in republican land. They get their numbers from Michele Bachmann.
Since when does ANY President pay for anything related to his job?
Stop being so racist! I'm sure you republicans are motivated by race, like you always are. That's why the cryin' John is so emotional lately. He hates being told how to do something by a 50%black/ 50%white man.
HSART. Quit generalizing. The vast majority of Repubilcans aren't racist...your should get out more. I know there are Black democrats that are very racist too. Perhaps you are live in New York, LA or San Fran where all you see and hear is Liberal vitriol. I'm sad for you.
Obama wants to compromise less and ask for more. Let's fall over the cliff, because
it's HIS economy now. His idea's haven't worked for the last four years. Don't give
him that shiny new "no ceiling" credit card he wants, because he has already shown
us he can't handle finances. Where is that budget again?
Republicans SUCK SUCK SUCK
Budget's in congress, go blame them for being disfunctional.
Common Sense is Obama responsible for anything? His budget proposal last year didn't even get a single democrat vote for it. How dysfunctional is that?
Yes, and it was a procedural move because everyone know the House would reject and continue to reject anything and everything.
Spending under Obama will average about a 1% increase in his first term.
Bush averaged 9% year over year.
Which budget do you like better?
Yeah.....Go get educated, you look like an idiot.
cant tell a lib anything..obama can do no wrong......
blind leading the blind
Common Sense, why the name calling? You can spin the budget numbers anyway you like; it just proves my point that you Obama supporters never put any responsibility on Obama. If he isn't blaming someone else or making excuses you're doing it for him.
Remind yourself who has to get reelected in 2-4 years. Obama is free to push his unrealistic budgets without repercussions. The Republican Congress will have to answer for their votes. The time to cut the budget has come, so start cutting already.
YOu must be addressing the Republicans! They think they can command Obama around Washington because he's black. GUESS AGAIN!
It's very clear from the results of the election that Americans DON'T WANT that RYAN trickery.
I'd propose that gov't go back to it's original scope of coining money, making treaties, regulating interstate commerce, and providing for a common defence. Let the states deal with the social programs. They would be much more efficient. you'd have 50 shots at getting it right that way.
gop sucks. republicans suck suck suck
With what money? The feds demand that states cover their programs and then YOU WANT THAT?! HA, HA. F-ing HA!
GOP Freak Show needs to learn where Americans want to go on this. Voters spoke on November 6th. Screw you Republicans, you SUCK SUCK SUCK
Jake definitely gay.
Don't bring sexuality into this. First of all it's not funny, and second it shows you're a bigot!
jack295117...how can you be that screwed up...you don't think Pelosi was hiding things when she said we have to vote the health bill in to see whats in it...you actually don't think the press has given the president a pass on all his screw ups? You don't listen at all...the republicans were left with a majority in the house for a reason...the people still don't trust Obamas' economic policies...you just don't get it and you don't listen...the democrats have not voted for any of Obamas budgets...not one democrat has voted yes for any of the budgets...they don't trust his economic policies either...I suppose all this will go in one of your ears and out the other....I can already hear your answer,"yeah but it's all Bushs' fault..duh"...
The reason the GOP was left with a majority in ONE branch was because of districting.
Overall more Dems got more overall votes for the House seats than the GOP.
And you trust the GOP?
hahhahahahahahahhahahahahha
Lowest approval rating for congress in 70 yers...
Why?
hahahhahahahahahhahahahahahha
if you don't know the answer you're an ass clown.
mcbeef, I have one thing to say to you. 2014 baby, we will take the house.
What screw ups? Like killing Osama Bin Laden? Or passing health care reform? He injected the stimulus into an economy that was the worst since the great depression and kept the auto industry from going bankrupt (Romney said "Let them go under"). He passed Wall Street reform. He ended the war in IRAQ which Bush started Illegally. He chased Qaddafi out of Libya. He increased Fuel efficiency standards. He put the screws to Iran while they're trying to develop a nuke. He passed credit card reforms. Improved HATE CRIMES protection. Slapped BP for the OIL SPILL. AND he killed the pet project of the republican lobbyists, the F-22! Oh those screw ups!
But he won't actually sit down with the other side to NEGOTIATE anything. Just go out campaigning for what HE wants, then going on a 17-day vacation rather than do REAL WORK on it. Spoiled brat is the only way to describe his attitude.
You really have no idea what you are talking about.
Ever hear of a senator say his #1 job is to make Obama a 1 term president?
if not you should look it up and come back when you aren't so clueless.
Common Sense- 4 U
Yes he did say his job was to make Obama a one term. Then in the very next breath he said but the most important thing right now was to work with the president to fix the economy for all Americans. Funny how Libs ALWAYS leave that part out.
That's because the libs know about the 378 filibusters in the senate. McConnell keeping his promise to keep the economy in the toilet so they could get back in power. They kept the economy down but failed to get back in power because 51% of Americans weren't that stupid.
ARE YOU JOKING?! It's the obstructionists in the House that continually refuse to offer even one piece of legislation in writing! John Boner, Mitch McConnell, Ryan, and the TEA BAGGERS!
The best idea is to ask the president to loan each of us $1,000,000.00. We'll talk about how we're going to pay it back later. That's established government policy. Give me what I want now and we'll talk about what you want later. We don't need Powerball. We just need more government. He has to agree. Hell, it's his idea.
That was Bush, he isn't president anymore.
Thank God...But we're still trying to clean up after that guy.
That's insane. Actually it's the opposite. President Cliff is already taking nearly $1mil from each of us and our children's unborn children to pay for things like Obamacare, student loans that will never be repaid, stimulus to bankrupted companies, and god only knows what other socialized programs he and Democrats plan to implement in the next 4 years. It will make Bush's deficit spending look like chump change.
Of course we're trying to clean up after Bush; EVERYTHING is his fault, right? Obama's only been in office for one term and at the end of his second term you'll still be blaming Bush for Obama's failures. Makes perfect liberal sense.
That's the GOP! Give me a break, a tax break! I've only got $2,000,000,000 and I can't afford to pay my taxes!
