Behind the McConnell laugh

AP

It has been reported that Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell was less than impressed with the White House's fiscal-cliff proposal. So unimpressed was the Kentucky Republican that he burst out into laughter.

A senior administration official provided more detail. When Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner handed over the White House's proposal to McConnell, McConnell looked at it and smiled a smile that said, "Yeah right."

“I don’t think I’ve ever seen you smile," Geithner responded.

At which point, McConnell burst out laughing.

*** UPDATE *** A Republican congressional source says that Geithner's proposal was oral, not written. And the source argues that McConnell "found their un-serious offer amusing."

I would caution the United States Congress. To do this I suggest two phrases from the not too distant past...Arab Spring and Autumn of Nations. These folks were ill equiped to advance reasoning among their government officials, yet brought about drastic changes. I would also hasten to add that among theorists it is often pointed out that the longer an economic system goes on, the more likely it is to change (theory of convergence). Things are going to change...it's up to leaders to decide how that change comes about...the easy way or, for them, the hard way.

Get rid of this guy. He's been a thorn in Congress from day one...blocking anything good suggested...only thinking of the Rep. party and not the welfare of the nation. He's an A$$.

Ya know all politic's and bickering back and forth between the parties with me included.

Mitch's attitude about the seriousness of the problem is reprehensible....

So it's funny? That the impending tax increase will stall the economy?

Screw you Mitch - Why don't you try doing what the people elected you to do...like help America.

Help some real Americans you POS!

Sounds like a script, to me. "OK, McConnell, when Geithner makes the proposal, you just laugh." "Boehner, we want you to say something about 'rope-a-dope'. I'm not sure what that means, some kind of game, I think. Sounds good, though."

Did you people realize that what the President defines as "rich" is any individual making over $59k?

Look at that mug. Definitely a face only a mother could love. Although he does look like he might have been "hatched". Ashley's coming and shes looking for you Mitch.
