As Obama and Romney have lunch at 12:30 pm ET, not everyone is moving on from the ’12 race… Romney chief strategist Stu Stevens explains Romney’s loss by essentially suggesting Obama was black and poor people voted overwhelmingly for him… As it turns out, Obama’s victory was more decisive than Bush’s in ’04… Tom Cole and the cover he gives to John Boehner… NYT: Other Benghazi-related questions get lost in all the attention on the talking points… 112th Congress on track to be least productive Congress since 1947… And the importance of Virginia and its gubernatorial contest.
*** Moving on? At 12:30 pm ET today, President Obama holds a private lunch with Mitt Romney -- their first meeting since the election and just seventh overall according to our count. The lunch allows both men to bury the hatchet and show that this country is able to move beyond its elections. But not everyone is moving on. In a Washington Post op-ed published yesterday, Romney chief strategist Stu Stevens defended Romney and his campaign. “Over the years, one of the more troubling characteristics of the Democratic Party and the left in general has been a shortage of loyalty and an abundance of self-loathing. It would be a shame if we Republicans took a narrow presidential loss as a signal that those are traits we should emulate.” It was more than appropriate for Stevens to write about Romney and the campaign after the election; in fact, Stevens speaks today at Harvard along with the top officials from the Obama campaign to discuss the 2012 race. But what’s especially striking about Stevens’ op-ed is that it doesn’t contain an iota of introspection about why the Romney campaign was unable to win a winnable race. It was an odd tone for Stevens to strike, and it will be curious to see if he’s just as defiant today at Harvard.
After a hard-fought election, President Obama fulfills his promise to engage with Mitt Romney, hosting him for a one-on-one lunch at the White House. NBC's Chuck Todd reports.
*** Explaining Romney’s loss -- Obama was black and poor people voted overwhelmingly for him: Indeed, the entire piece appears to rationalize that the campaign’s strategy was right. (And for the reporters who received emails from Stevens during the campaign, the tone was very, very familiar.) In the op-ed, Stevens essentially suggests Romney lost because poor people overwhelmingly voted for Obama. “On Nov. 6, Romney carried the majority of every economic group except those with less than $50,000 a year in household income. That means he carried the majority of middle-class voters.” Yet that analysis ignores that those making less than $50,000 represented 41% of the electorate in 2012, and many of those people probably would argue that they’re in the middle class. Stevens also seems to argue that Obama won because he’s a black man whose campaign and party raised $1 billion. “[H]e was a charismatic African American president with a billion dollars, no primary and media that often felt morally conflicted about being critical. How easy is that to replicate?” But that also leaves out the fact that Romney was a white man who had a famous name in American politics and whose effort also raised close to $1 billion. By the way, there’s a lot of contradictory evidence to suggest the president carried the middle -- the swing suburban counties. In every swing state, the largest major suburban county tipped to the president.
President Barack Obama plans to fulfill the promise he made on Election night to engage with Mitt Romney by meeting him for lunch on Thursday. The Daily Rundown's Chuck Todd reports.
*** Obama’s victory was more decisive than Bush’s in ’04: And here’s one final observation about the 2012 race. Per the excellent work by the Cook Political Report’s David Wasserman, Obama’s national lead over Romney continues to expand as votes keep on coming in. It’s now Obama 50.9%, Romney 47.4%. That’s a bigger (and more decisive) margin than Bush’s victory over John Kerry in 2004 (which was Bush 50.7% and Kerry 48.2%). What’s more, the president’s lead has grown to close to 3 points in Ohio, 4 points in Virginia and 6 points in Colorado. One doesn’t win Colorado by six points without winning swing voters; there isn’t a big-enough Democratic base to make that argument.

Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney arrives to deliver his concession speech during his election night rally in Boston, Massachusetts, November 7, 2012.
*** Cole gives cover to Boehner: In today’s “fiscal cliff” news, Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner is meeting individually with top Democratic and Republican congressional leaders. Bloomberg News: “Geithner will meet separately with each of the four top leaders in Congress: House Speaker John Boehner, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell. Rob Nabors, the administration’s director of legislative affairs, will accompany Geithner.” And speaking of Boehner, GOP Rep. Tom Cole -- who on Tuesday said that Republicans should extend the Bush tax cuts for only those making $250,000 or less -- did a big favor for the House speaker. Why? It gives him A LOT more space to cut a deal with the Obama White House. After all, when is the last time that a conservative (albeit an establishment) House member go to the left of Boehner? Bottom line: Cole’s move gives Boehner more negotiating flexibility than he had previously. Also, don't miss David Gregory's interview with former FDIC Chair Sheila Bair, who is very critical of Geithner.
*** Other Benghazi-related questions get lost in all the attention on the talking points: For weeks now, there’s has been so much attention on Susan Rice and those CIA-drafted talking points about the attack on the Benghazi consulate. And after more critical comments from GOP senators, Obama showered praise on Rice during a photo spray of his cabinet meeting yesterday. “Susan Rice is extraordinary. I couldn’t be prouder of the job that she’s done.” But the New York Times makes a pretty good point: Lost in all of the attention over the talking points are bigger and perhaps more important questions. “Were requests for greater security for diplomats in Libya ignored? Even if Al Qaeda’s core in Pakistan has been decimated, what threat is posed by its affiliates and imitators in other countries where they have taken refuge? How can crucial diplomacy be conducted amid the dangerous chaos that has followed the toppling of dictators across the Arab world?” Also, while this hasn’t been the best P.R. week for Rice, it does look like she can survive a confirmation process. The person who may have had a worse week in these meetings? CIA acting dir. Mike Morrell. He could end up the real political loser in all this.
*** Do-Nothing Congress? NBC’s Kyle Inskeep notes that this 112th Congress is headed to achieve a dubious distinction: the least productive Congress since the 1940s. With just weeks left, this Congress (2011-12) has passed just 196 bills into law (and many of those have been ceremonial pieces of legislation, like the naming of courthouses). The previous low was set by the 104th Congress (1995-96), which passed just 333 bills into law. So to avoid earning the distinction as the least productive Congress since 1947, 138 bills must move through the House and Senate before the end of the session next month -- an unlikely feat. Then again, reaching a deal on the fiscal negotiations would be a big legislative accomplishment. Also, there are plenty of conservatives who would argue that NOT passing bills actually means this was a productive Congress. It’s all eye-of-the-beholder stuff.
*** The importance of Virginia its gubernatorial race: Virginia has arguably become the most important swing state in the country (in the past two presidential elections, the state has exactly matched the national popular vote). And Virginia’s off-year gubernatorial contest has recently set the tone for the party of out of power. In 2005, Tim Kaine (D) won his race by appealing to independents and the suburbs -- a model the Democrats replicated in 2006 and 2008. In ‘09, the socially conservative Bob McDonnell (R) focused like a laser on the economy, which congressional Republicans followed in ’10 and even Romney tried to replicate in ‘12. Yet here’s the conundrum for Republicans in 2013: The very conservative and outspoken Ken Cuccinelli is going to be the face of the GOP next year. Now it’s more than possible that Cuccinelli runs a strong race that national Republicans will copy in 2014. Or it’s also possible that his candidacy reinforces some of the negative stereotypes that the party wants to erase. By the way, Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling -- whose exit cleared the way for Cuccinelli’s nomination -- isn’t going away quietly. Per the Roanoke Times, he isn’t ruling out a gubernatorial bid as an independent.

Earlier this week I had to drive to Columbus Ohio for work. I decided to take the backroads and was amazed to see all of the Obama/Biden campaign offices out in the middle of nowhere. It was great to see the support our President has out in the middle of the "real America"!
I wonder if President Obama will be giving Willard some "freebies" at their lunch date?
Anyone know if he'll be dragging Queen Annie along to see where she will never live?
The menu will consist of; a can of Whoop-Ass soup, arugula salad, sour grape stuffed crow and for dessert some 7-11 store bought cookies!
Bon Apetite... Mittens!
As provisional ballots are finishing up being counted nationwide the President’s margin is increasing and is now greater that what Bush won by in 2004.
The margin could end up being greater that any Dem has achieved in reelection in 100 years.
Can you spell …

My Last Year's Predictions:
About this time of year I review my last year's predictions and in early December make some predictions for 2013. Let's look at the hits and misses.
Misses:
"Democrats will pick up 30 house seats and Nancy Pelosi will again be Speaker of the House." Instead, they picked up 8 seats. Wishful thinking on my part.
"The Senate will split 50-50 but there was a strong possibility that the Republicans could get 51 seats." Todd Akin and Richard Mourdock spoiled that prediction.
"Paul Ryan will be defeated in his Wisconsin district and lose his seat in the House." My crystal ball was foggy as Ryan lost as V-P but won his old House seat.
"If Mitt Romney gets the Republican nomination, a significant number of the Tea Party will walk out." Another example of wishful thinking.
Hits:
"Elizabeth Warren will beat Scott Brown like a drum. Elizabeth will get close to 53% of the votes."
"There will be 'minor' portions of the Affordable Health Act that will be rejected (by the Supreme Court), but the law will remain intact."
"There will be no third party candidates"
"Hillary Clinton is getting tired of traveling about the world and it's time for her to write her memoirs."
"President Obama will win a second term in 2012."
Like the conventional wisdom of professional pundits who are right about half the time, my predictions are within that range. Next week I'll give predictions for 2013 and perhaps you may wish to post your thoughts as well. I can say that unexpected events and wishful thinking can present a challenge when looking to the future.
I posted this yesterday, but for those who don’t know Kelly Ayotte it’s worth reposting.
In 2003, a Federal District Court ruled that NH’s law requiring parental notification of minors seeking an abortion was unconstitutional. In 2004, NH’s Attorney General argued the case before the Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, which upheld the District Court’s ruling.
That same year, the Attorney General left his post and Ayotte was appointed in his place. The incoming Governor wanted to drop the matter, but Ayotte decided to personally appeal the case before the U.S. Supreme Court. The Supreme Court vacated the ruling, sending it back to the District Court. In the meantime the State Legislature repealed the law, rendering any further action by the District Court moot. The Federal District Court then forced the State to pay for Planned Parenthood's attorney's fees because Planned Parenthood's position had been upheld at every level of judicial review. Her office had to pay Planned Parenthood $300,000.
In addition, there were some shady doings during Ayotte’s tenure as Attorney General. She was accused of violating American Bar Association standards in a murder case when she put her own personal views ahead of the law. And she was criticized for refusing to investigate fraud charges against a mortgage investment firm--reputedly because she was friends with the president of the firm. Also, when she left the AG office she deleted all her emails and her appointment calendar.
Ayotte is ambitious and believes the hype that she is “a rising star in the Republican Party”. By tethering herself to McCain and Graham, it is more likely she will become a shooting star.
Looks like Barry’s plan to send Susan Rice, hat in hand, to meet with Republican Senators and try to smooth over his Benghazi gaffes and lies has backfired big time and turned into a dismal failure. Shemp Mathews was clearly disappointed with last night’s Wiffleball attempt at a pro-Barry-Rice propaganda stunt last night. He had RINO Senator Susan Collins on and was clearly looking for a couple of sound bites countering the McCain/Graham/Ayotte “troubled” take on their meeting with Rice. Collins did a very good and credible job of poking holes in all the Barry admins cover-up talking points on the Benghazi failures and Rice’s partisan political role in that cover-up during the heat of a very close Presidential election. Shemp even seemed to momentarily consider Collin’s points to be valid, until he brought in lefty-liberal-true-believer shill David Corn who tried mightily to steer Shemp back to the Planet Liberal “truth”. It’s must-see TV.
BTW, I’m dying to see what kind of grade this post gets from the resident English- composition-Nazi schoolmarm Jack in Portsmouth. She gave me an F- yesterday and I really hope I can get at least an F+ from her today.

Behind the Susan Rice meeting meltdown
By: Scott Wong and Seung Min Kim
November 28, 2012 12:27 PM EST
In just two quick meetings on Capitol Hill, Susan Rice may have blown up any goodwill she had with the very senators she’ll need for confirmation if she’s ever tapped as the next secretary of state.
Over the past two days, four key Republican senators have emerged from private meetings to blast the United Nations ambassador’s explanation about what happened during and after the deadly attacks on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya.
It’s not clear what Rice said behind closed doors to anger all these senators, but it’s obvious the meetings went badly and this was hardly a nominee-in-waiting charm offensive.
Even Sen. Susan Collins of Maine, just the type of moderate Republican who might help break a filibuster on a nomination, said there were still too many questions about why Rice incorrectly characterized the Sept. 11 assault in five Sunday talk show interviews as the result of spontaneous protests at the same time the Libyan president was calling it a terrorist attack.
“I don’t understand why she would not at least qualify her response to that question,” Collins told reporters after emerging from a 75-minute, closed-door meeting with Rice.
6 Things Romney Needs to Avoid Saying At White House Lunch
The nation's most famous loser, Mitt Romney, needs a little advice.
1. "My house is bigger anyway."
2. "Can I just have a hug, please?"
3. "I brought you a gift."
4. "Are these cookies store-bought?"
5. "Ah, screw it — I'll take a beer!"
6. "Is that waiter wearing a wire?"
http://nymag.com/daily/intel/2012/11/mitt-romney-lunch-with-obama-at-white-house.html
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A wire???? Oh My Freaking Gawd!!! Myth can't be on tape talking to a Black person. LOL ☺
If anyone needs proof that the GOP and Mitt Romney are completely out of touch with reality in addition to being prejudiced, Stu Stevens' remarks should put any doubts to rest.
President Obama invited Mitt Romney to lunch. Well, at least Mitt finally gets to the White House even if only for a visit. Maybe they'll talk about car elevators.
The GOP's Anti-Susan Rice/Pro-John Kerry Plot Thickens. Which three republicans were the only ones willing to campaign in Massachusetts for Scott Brown? Ah, yes, none other than John McCain, Kelly Ayotte, and Susan Collins. Which republicans were praising John Kerry, declaring that his confirmation as Secretary of State would be "smooth sailing"? Ah, yes, none other than Ayotte, McCain, Collins, and Bob Corker for good measure. Absurd, Ms. Ayotte? Absurd to think the GOP has a plan to discredit Susan Rice in order to open a Senate seat in Massachusetts for Scott Brown who lost Nov 6? The GOP plotted to suppress the vote by decreasing early voting hours and days, by putting in place ID laws, by intimidation, plotted to steal the election for Mitt Romney so it is not an absurd notion that they would plot in order to help Scott Brown return to the Senate.
The plot thickens and it seems the GOPers Six (don't forget Lindsay Graham) are neck deep in political hackery--most unbecoming behavior.
Beverly, now that's funny. Mitt clearly lacks social etiquette skills so.....
Record time for the race card. WAY TO GO BEV!!!!!!!!!
Seems most have moved on, except here at MSNBC where they can't seem to let the analysis of why Obama won go.
He won, guys, move on.
Let's raise taxes on everybody.
Feisty,
I think our President will have some nice parting gifts for Romney.
A presidential pen, refrigerator magnet with picture of the White House,
And a signed copy of his book The Audacity of Hope!
Like the conventional wisdom of professional pundits who are right about half the time, my predictions are within that range. Next week I'll give predictions for 2013 and perhaps you may wish to post your thoughts as well.

Gee, Dr. Ron you seem to be even more impressed with yourself than David Walker is impressed with himself. A feat I thought pretty near impossible.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Way to start the morning fellow liberals.
Ron, I can't find my predictions from last year but am guessing I was right about half the time!!! Always fun to crystal ball gaze regardless of accuracy.
Feisty Redhead Roselle, IL
Dont forget the whine....
Hey, White Collar Auto, ya think Stu Stevens moved on? Sure as hell doesn't look like it. Somebody needs to arrange an intervention for that boy!
Come on gang, you too Repugs, let's all join hands and jump off the cliff together. It'll be fun and you Republicans who are afraid of your "Blood Oath" to Norquist won't have to worry. "Wasn't my fault Mr. Norquist, they made me do it."
Oh, and while your at it, how about throwing McCain, Graham and Ayotte off the cliff also.
OBAMA FOR 4 MORE YEARS. LOVING IT.
If Mitt is seen walking into the White House with a gift box wrapped up beautifully, I bet it's his tax returns.
Talk, its only the race card if it isn't true, the fact is there is plenty of racial hatred for our president and you by the way are part of that.
White Collar Auto
Move on by yourself. The election will be analyzed for a number of years by both Parties with several books written about it in this normal world. Perhaps it is one of the reasons the Republicans lost, a lack of rational internal argument ... and they wanted to run the world!
Bev, great list! haha
No I am not John. You know nothing about me and I don't care if he is green. His ideology and dreams are not what I envision for the country I grew up in. Just like many of you with your "the world the way I think it should be and the way I want it to be" ideology with NO consideration for reality and the world around you and the fact that not everyone thinks as you do. There are more that would smile in your face and stab you in the back than you liberal/progressives care to think about. The sooner you wake up and quit looking at your rose colored crystal ball for the world going forward, the better off you will be.
Since when do the losers have the privledge of telling the winners what to do?
Bev,
You owe me a keyboard, GF! LMAO!
The true identity of the Albanian idiot has now been revealed. He is really Stu Stevens:
Self-loathing? Recall the Albanian idiot confuses envy with contempt. He actually believes that people envy the existence of a paper trader who feels obligated to tell us of his dining habits. So it is that Schmidt/Albanian idiot has confused self-loathing with just plain old garden-variety loathing. The truth is, Democrats who were once tolerant of the misguided right, now loathe the faction that is bent on the destruction of the GOP.
WCA:
It seems you're the one who is having trouble moving on. The report was about one of your low IQ buddies and his analysis. That's the way the news business works.
Now, get back to your job of finding a way to make yourself a victim.
My whiney B of a neighbor worked the Romney campaign with extreme arrogance. She now is totally insane as most GOP's and still flying her American Flag at half mast. She is completely disrespectful and makes me thankful I am not part of that rabid hoard.
Feisty, sore winner? Romney has been a very reasonable looser and I'd think you'd be ok with the President seemingly having a moment with him. I won't play partisan games with you.
There was an interesting question in the reporter's pool yesterday- Is the President meeting with Romney to offer him some sort of position in the administration? Look, you might not have wanted him to run the country but it would be interresting to have someone with a lot of business experience on the President's economic advisory committee. Hey, the President doesn't have to implement anything he suggests but having that perspective might actually help get our country back on track. Lord knows we need that.
Very gentlemanly of the President. Not only is Mitt Romney one of the least relevant people on the planet right now, he's proved himself to be the least gracious person ever to lose a presidential election. I don't normally rejoice in a person's fall from grace like that, but this is a man whose shameless contempt for half of the country has been clear on numerous occasions.
On a different note, as the votes from the West Coast are all counted and we're closer to the final results of the election, Mitt Romney's percentage of the popular vote is coming closer and closer to the dreaded figure of 47%. As of today, it stands at 47.4%. Ha! Oh, the irony. It's a shame the President is such a gentleman and won't think of bringing it up.
Ahhhh flashbacks to Hillary. "I beat you but I have no idea what foreign policy is. Could ya help a brother out and be my Secretary of State?"
And now Romney "I beat you but I have no idea how to turn this economy around. Wanna have lunch?"
Geez you folks got your panties in a twist this morning, eh?
Even BCWC wants to analyze this race for years!
Seems to me most of the folks who complained about my comment are the same folks here who are constantly talking about not living in the past and moving
FORWARD.
Do you folks ever think about what you past and the positions you have taken in the past.
Do you realize the hypocrites that most of you are?
Since when do the losers have the privledge of telling the winners what to do?

Nasty: The resident English-composition-Nazi schoolmarm Jack in Portsmouth is going to grade your post an F- for spelling "privilege" with a "d" in it.
LMAO@USCHOOLMARM!!!
You get an F every day of every week from virtually everyone who posts here, Albany Joe. You don't need one from me.
As the Republican Party twists and turns with excuses as to why President Obama won, one thing keeps getting left out of the discussion. A sitting president was running for re-election with an unemployment rate of approximately 8%. Any decent candidate should have been able to beat him. And yet President Obama won by a very large margin. It should be a no-brainer to figure out why Romney lost, but the Republican Party has always been deficient in gray matter. Just ask Rick Santorum, who said that his party would never garner the support of truly intelligent people. (Apparently he was lamenting the fact that all the Republican Party has to work with is a bunch of Albany Joe's.)
So talk you are in denial that a large portion of the hate for the President is race based? Spoken like a good little racist tea bag scum. But the hatred for Obama is not based on philosophical thought but rather the uneducated cadence that is projected on Fox news and the other right wing hate groups that you subscribe too. I have no use for conservatives in the first place because you are wrong and always have been. Every time we have put a stinking republican in charge the rich got richer but the middle class became unemployed. Your way sucks. Which is why I also think you suck.
Remember Condi Rice?
SMDH, Susan Collins seems to have forgotten in her recollections about what happened in Kenya and Tanzania regarding the two bombed explosions that rocked U.S. embassies. If she must go after UN Ambassodor Susan Rice like white on rice, she might recall those mushroom clouds the other Rice, Condi, actually did lie and cover-up.
BTW: President Clinton at least tried to kill bin Laden. Who didn't read their classified review of the threats posed by Osama bin Laden and his terrorist network, Al Qaeda on Aug. 6, 2001? If you guessed President G. W. Bush you'd be correct.
President Clinton told Bush terrorist should be his top priority.
http://www.nytimes.com/2012/09/11/opinion/the-bush-white-house-was-deaf-to-9-11-warnings.html?_r=0
Had Bush done his JOB, none of this would not be occurring. Also, Bush let bin Laden go in Tora Bora , Afghanistan just so he could jump into Iraq for the black gold and lucrative no bid contracts for Cheney's Haliburton and his other cronies.
When the vote comes for Susan Rice hack job right wingers will vote NO. What else is new? We liberals know you right wingers wanna sneak Brownie in John Kerry's seat.
Since our President can't tell you rats to kiss his black you know what; I'm saying it. President Barack Obama was re-elected, therefore he has the right to chose whomever he thinks is qualified to be SoS. "F" the republican rats. I am sick of them and will be glad when they are either replaced or no longer a party.
PS. Right Wing Benghazi Conspirators if you want to post in response to my post you need to stay away from the keyboards until you learn how to post something knowledgeable, un-accusatory , and intelligent. There is an independent investigation going on. In other words No one knows what happened.
I'm sick of these mess conspired by FAUX NEWS and the "Three Stooges" purely for political gain. It really makes me mad.
Besides the families have asked you to stop politicizing Benghazi. So show some compassion and respect.
Get this Susan Rice did not kill the ambassador or the other 3. Can you at least imagine what the families think of you clowns. It's like driving a stake through their hearts.
Keep it up boys, just keep it up. Keep denying that America rejected your philosophy, keep making excuses, keep carrying the torch for the billionaires and zillionaires and very soon you will be marginalized to the point of becoming a laughing stock.
You lost because you sold out to the wealthy few, you tried to game the system by letting those wealthy people poor unlimited amounts of money into the election process in an attempt to give them more than their single vote. They tried to vote with their money and it didn't work. The American people saw through your tactics and rejected you. Suck it up and deal with it.
Representative Tom Cole understands (R-Oklahoma). I know Tom Cole, I've worked with him. He's a smart man and a pragmatist. He can read the hand-writing on the wall. I don't agree with Cole or his politics but I have to give the Devil his due, he's smart and his recommendation that they take the tax cuts for the middle class off the table is brilliant. You take that ball out of play and all the left has to play with is "entitlements" which the GOP has very successfully demonized.
Cole has a political consulting group here in Oklahoma, Cole, Hargraves, and Snodgrass. They do their own polling. They are smart and savvy. Love 'em or hate 'em they know what they are doing. Thank goodness for the Tea Party. Bless their pointy little heads because they are chained by their ideology and will not listen to Cole.
OK, I'm done with that.
Good morning my Liberal friends, it's nice to see you out and about and fighting the good fight. Keep up the good work and take just a moment to be thankful for the Tea Party. I never thought I'd say it, but they are a god-send because they will be the death of the GOP.
The true identity of the Albanian idiot has now been revealed. He is really Stu Stevens:

David Walker: Do you see any signs of the incurable mental illness of liberalism in your imaginary fantasies about me??
Yes, and we all know that poor minorities are the most politically powerful group in America, right?
With a chief strategist who is STILL so stupid and clueless, it's no wonder Romney's millions of dollars worth of negative campaign ads and mailers weren't enough to get him the votes he needed.
Romney plainly and clearly stated that he 'didn't care' about the little people. Well guess what, Bozo? In America, it's one man/one vote. Did you really think treating half the country like losers would make them come out to vote for you??
Entitled, arrogant, and only semi-sane, Romney was rejected by the clear-eyed majority. That's proof positive that our system isn't broken beyond repair.
The name MITT ROMNEY belongs in the dustbin of presidential campaign history. Let's move on, America.
FORWARD!!
Talk to the Hand, don't fool yourself. The only reason President Obama is meeting with Mitt the Twit is because his supporters are still having a temper-tantrum three weeks later. He's just trying to sooth poor Mitt's hurt feelings. The entire Repug/Tea Bagger party has shown itself to be the sorest of all sore losers. "BOO HOO HOO, the only reason we lost was because more people voted for President Obama than voted for our guy. BOO HOO FREAKING HOO, if all of "THOSE" people hadn't have voted we would have won. BOO HOO HOO we tried our best to keep "THEM" from voting, but they voted anyway, and now WE lost. WHAAAAAA!!!" You lost, now suck on it, LOSERS!
Talk bout moving on. It's time for Chuck Todd and gang to do just that.
We all know how Obama defeated Gov Romney.
We're waiting to see when Obama will give priority to the unemployment issue and forget about raising taxes on the rich.
He's obsessed with this and unable to handle the major problems facing this Nation, just like he was the first 4 years.
It's spend, spend and spend more.
Chris said,
Earlier this week I had to drive to Columbus Ohio for work. I decided to take the backroads and was amazed to see all of the Obama/Biden campaign offices out in the middle of nowhere. It was great to see the support our President has out in the middle of the "real America"!
Yes, there was a lot of support for Obama in Ohio...
That's what the "saving the auto industry" was about...votes!!
The best part was Obama used taxpayer money to do it!!
Worked like a charm!!
gimme gimme gimme...
Stu Stevens is out of his league as far as his job is concerned, because he doesn't know what he is talking about. For example one of the lowest unemployment rates and highest standard of living areas is Northern Virginia. Guess what Stu, President Obama won the majority of Northern Virginia in 2008 and 2012.
Also, my question for Stu is how many so called poor whites from the red states voted for Romney even after his 47% comment? Why did those people vote against there own self interest?
Jeez louise Feisty, you are one spiteful troll. Always gotta be the first or second to post, don't you...you sure you don't work for NBC?
"Since when do the losers have the privledge of telling the winners what to do?"
Perfect proof you are part of the problem and not the solution. I really hope Obama offers Romney a position and he accepts just to get your panties in a twist.
The word is "privilege" btw. If you're going to be smug, a firm grasp of the English language is essential.
Wow Cereal City Boy!! Someone pi$$ in your Corn Flakes this morning?
Thanks for the info, Dennis. I wonder if anyone has notified The Donald...or is he still under the delusional impression that Romney won the popular vote? bwahahaha!
What 'great' businessmen and job creators those clowns are.
Ron, next time I'm letting you pick my Powerball Lottery numbers! ;)
Dang...I was planning on using some of my winnings to help defeat Cantor.
Oh, kkwilson, in case you didn't get the memo, Mitt the Twit LOST and President Obama won. That means more people voted for President Obama than did Mitt the Twit. That means more people favor President Obama's policies and agenda than Mitt the Twit's. I just thought you should know. Have a pleasant day.
Talk to the hand, how was romney gonna turn the economy around. Since you complaining about Obama so much. Can't wait to hear the details of this plan. NOT..
@ Jody I had to inject some humor. The minority thinks they are the majority; it's truly sad. What makes these RepubliCONs think America wants to hear their same old disgusting sad tunes that haven't worked in over a decade; actually since Reagan? All they are doing is holding America hostage with their foolish whims.
Bev; Great one.
5. "Ah, screw it — I'll take a beer!"
Even Willard deserves a brew.
FR:
Yes, those are serious questions, but the Republicans simply don't give a damn about the safety of American diplomats in dangerous countries. And their claim, which Sen. Collins has started parroting, that there was some sinister political motive for Ambassador Rice's statements makes no sense at all. A protest by an anti-American mob would have reflected far worse on American policy in Libya than an attack by extremists, since it's the general public that the US is interested in winning over, not dead-end extremists.
The protests AGAINST Ambassador Stevens' murder in Benghazi showed that the US policy in Libya has been successful in that regard. It was the weakness of the Libyan government that made it unable to provide adequate security for the diplomatic mission in Benghazi. A strong Libyan government is the real failure of US the US Libya policy so far. Susan Rice was instrumental in getting Russia and China to go along with the policies that led to the overthrow of the Libyan dictator, and America's involvement in that effort is why the Libyan people are more pro-American than just about any other Middle Eastern country.
While the Republicans' claims that Rice had some political motives are total nonsense, it's their own attacks on Rice that stink of craven politics. They've ignored the security issues that FR mentions, and John McCain, the ringleader of Rice's character assassins, didn't bother going to an important briefing on because is conflicted with one of his grandstanding press conferences about Benghazi.
The motives are pretty clear: McCain still wants revenge for losing to Obama in 2008. Lindsey Graham's attack on an African American woman will give him some brownie points with the racist white GOP base in the 2014 South Carolina Senate primary. And Collins and Ayotte want John Kerry to get the Secretary of State job so that his Senate seat will be open for their heartthrob Scott Brown to take over in Massachusetts. That's the real scandal.
Maybe President Obama will explain polls to Mitt Romney during lunch today.
Memo to Senator Susan Collins, try reading the transcript of what UN Ambassador Susan Rice actually said BEFORE making stupid statements such as not understanding why she (Rice) didn't qualify her response. Pssst, hint, hint....Ms. Rice DID QUALIFY her response, it's right in the text.
P.S. You stated yesterday that you were troubled and it was wrong for the UN Ambassador to appear on the Sunday talk shows to play politics during a contenuous presidential election, are you aware that Senator McCain appeared immediately after Ms. Rice on at least one of those Sunday talk shows to play politics with Benghazi and anything else he could drag into the conversation?
Feisty, a keyboard is in the mail. What do think will be on the menu for Willard? I'm thinking an Acorn cookie or crow pie.
Jody, Susan Collins is making a fool of herself. You're so correct. It is they who are playing politics with a tragedy.
sour grapes there maxx???
must be your job wasn't one of the millions saved by our Presidents bold and decisive action eh???
it's about doing the right thing maxx...if you do the right thing the votes will go to the right candidate.
his action not only saved the auto industry..it kept the entire economy from going into freefall again.
the better man won maxx....DEAL WITH IT!!
All paid for with food stamps ;) /sarcasm
Hope y'all had a good holiday
No kidding Pat!
Not to mention she sounds like she is about to burst into tears at any moment.
I can't stand listening to her!
Bev,
Do you think the President will make Willard eat his pea's? lol
Uh uh uh, what would you do Mitt? Can I see your first 200 days in office please?
Jody:
When Kerry's name first came up for Sec. of State a few weeks ago, some Republican congress critters were making noises about swift-boating him again. Apparently, they've decided it's more politically useful to swift-boat Susan Rice instead.
.
Wonder how the White House chef is preparing that Crow for Mr. Romney.
.
That's so very true skip!. The TeaPeople have and will continue to destroy the party formerly known as the GOP!
It's time to call the "Fiscal Cliff" what it is...AUSTERITY!!
That's right, the Fiscal Cliff is actually nothing more than the Conservatives' favorite medicine for the economy. It's a dramatic and sudden reduction in government spending coupled with an equally sudden reduction in fiscal stimulus through removal of temporary tax reductions.
Do we need any other reasons why Republicans have no competence in fiscal matters?
Oh, and DO stop insisting that 'compromise' consists of enacting the fiscal plan of the loser in the last Presidential election.
Jody:
I watched in amazement as Chris Matthews sat there like a bump on a log on his show yesterday and let Collins get away with all the crap she was spewing. He seems to think that her unearned reputation as a moderate exempts her from all criticism.
Jessica Yellin Tweet/TOD: Source: in call yday President told Speaker there's no deal unless GOP agrees to raise rates on wealthy. Boehner to hold 1130a newser.
But that's exactly what happened in Cairo but the the Administration claimed it was caused by a youtube video not by their policies.
Really? She went out on those talk shows motivated by altruism? Let's be clear here. Let's accept that the DNI changed the briefing to protect intelligence assets. That does not explain the story put out by the Administration for two weeks that the Ambassador's death was the result of a youtube video. This convenient fantasy was a political story to support the contention that the Administration's policy in the Middle East was a success. The more the Administration tries to explain it's actions the more it ties itself in knots.
Who gave Susan Rice the talking points claiming the tragedy was caused by a youtube video? It's not a hard question but it seems to have a hard answer for this Administration.
It's all about Benghazi.........Right? I think not. Bring out the tin foil hats.
Fox News Goes Full Metal Tin Foil Hat with Claim Obama Blackmailed Petraeus
Fox News has taken their conspiracy claims for impeachment to new crazy places by claiming that Obama blackmailed Petraeus in order cover up Benghazi.
http://www.politicususa.com/fox-news-full-metal-tin-foil-hat-claim-obama-blackmailed-petraeus.html
Bev, your comment about going after Susan Rice 'like white on rice' reminds me how appropriate that simile is for what is happening right now with The Three Stooges (all white) going after Ambassador Rice.
Dubbya got confused... let's give him a break. We know geography was never his strong suit. Bushbaby was looking for bin Laden in Bora Bora. ;)
Now the geniuses at Fox are saying Obama blackmailed Petraeus? Oh, the drama!!
No talk, my "corn flakes" are just fine, what is bothering you is the truth. You stinking, low life neocon fascist don't like the truth.
I know it's mean, but I wonder what ever happened to that Colorado Professor Bickers who had that "perfect" prediction model? Here he is on the O'Reilly show a few weeks before the election:
O'REILLY: All right, now Dr. Bickers, as you have a little bit more of analytical, you being a professor at the University of Colorado, a little more analytical approach. Who do you think is going to win and why?
KENNETH BICKERS, POLITICAL SCIENCE PROFESSOR, UNIVERSITY OF COLORADO: Well, we agree that Governor Romney is going to win. We think it's going to be around 330 Electoral College votes he'll win. It's not based on any gut instinct and it's certainly not based on talking to other people in Boulder.
The only gamble I have made is that they will still talk to me if I'm associated with this kind of a prediction model. This is based on looking back at elections all the way back to 1980. And what my colleague and I have done is to model the Electoral College contests as 51 separate contests, the 50 states, plus the District of Columbia.
So based on -- on the past voting behavior in those states, and where unemployment stands and real income per capita stands in each of those states, what is the voting pattern and what we see going back over time is that when conditions are as they are across as many states as they are, that the in party, the incumbent, in this case President Obama doesn't win these kinds of elections in those states.
O'REILLY: But there is a lot of emotion tied into Mr. Obama because of his skin color, because of his presentation. And by the way, Colorado is a very, very important state. Do you predict that Mitt Romney is going to carry your state?
BICKERS: We do. We show that Governor Romney will carry Colorado. We show that he is going to carry most of the battleground states -- not all of them but most of the battleground states. And -- and what you see in the polls right now is trend lines that are opening up more of the states for Mr. Romney, closing down some of the states that previously were in the Obama category. Florida, North Carolina, for example.
(CROSSTALK)
O'REILLY: I tend to agree -- I tend to agree with you, Doctor and -- and by design, by from -- with Mr. Root as well because of two things. Number one, I think that Mitt Romney is going to have a very strong performance on Monday night because of the Libya thing that we just -- you know that we're covering here on -- which there is no explanation for the Obama administration's behavior with four dead Americans.
There just isn't any explanation. People don't like that. And then that synergizes with the much more important issue for them, their wallet. And it's basically you are creating what Jimmy Carter had. You got a bad economy. You've got the Iranians holding Americans and you've got the perception of a weak administration.
ROOT: Right, can I -- can I jump in Bill.
O'REILLY: And that's -- that's the last break I think to help Mitt Romney. Ok, 30 seconds, Mr. Root, go.
ROOT: I have been saying from the beginning there is a couple of factors -- economy by far above everything else. Number two is I think there is going to be the Chick-Fil-A election. Remember what happened over the gay marriage issue? The millions of Christians that lined up to help Chick-Fil-A those same people will be lined up on Election Day, 20 million of Evangelicals who didn't vote in the last election are going to be there and they are going to be there strong for Mitt Romney.
And follow the money. Last time Obama outraised McCain and outspent him 10 to one in the last two weeks. I'll bet you any dollar right now Mitt Romney outspends in the last two weeks Obama by a big margin.
O'REILLY: All right, gentlemen. Very, very interesting. We appreciate it.

Going after Rice has nothing to do with race. It has to do with her inability to shoot straight with the American people. She just happens to be a black woman.
hey feisty-
let's 'hope' you can give up your fox-anger and have a satisfying bowel movement in the next few months...and a new hair color. maybe just let it go grey?
look on the brighter side. now, mitt & his wisconsin nephew can go to more soup kitchens and spoon up more entitlements to help those pesky poor.
move on!
Amazing that the onslaught/lies about Amb Rice are being echoed by Ayotte and Collins, women with tremoring voices.......
Collins stepped in to save Ayotte.......
Chris Matthews was disgusting in his rapt attention to the lies spewed by Collins and challenged her NOT!
Feisty ---
You are unreal. Everything you say is just nasty and hateful. Election is over, the president was re-elected and yet you still throw insults at Romney and his wife. You stoop lower daily; didn't know you could go any lower as a human being.
How about some honest, productive talk on how we can come together to solve the issues facing this country?
Clearly you are still unemployed. I don't know how you could possibly hold a job with all the time you spend here online....Still blaming Bush as well for having no job, even after 4 years?
You're right Kabee, it's all about race.
The GOP obviously needs some black Senators/Congressmen to make the point about Ambassador's Rice misleading statements. I hope no white Democrats attacked Condelezza Rice. That should have been limited to black members of the Democratic party.....and women.
Don't you ever get bored playing the race/gender card. Can you not come up with legitimate arguments to support your position?
Stevens is still trying to make Karl Rove's math work.... LOL
How about you not read what I write if it bothers you so much!
Sorry pal, contrary to what you believe, YOU don't dictate what I have to say...
You know this based on...????
Quit speaking of things you know nothing about...
Where did I mention Bush?
Alan, NJ
And you're claiming that the protest in Egypt was NOT about the video? The US is not held in high regard in most Arab countries. Libya is the exception, thanks in part to the Ambassador Rice's efforts at the UN. To anyone without a political axe to grind, that would be a good thing. But like most ultracons, you're just too petty and vindictive to admit it.
It's the JOB of the administration to provide the public with the unclassified information they have on any serious development. That's exactly what Rice did. And as I said, the motives that McCain's gang of character assassins came up with make no sense whatsoever. The only plausible political motives are the ones they have: McCain's is revenge, Graham's is pandering to the base, and Collins and Ayotte are for opening up Kerry's Senate seat for Scott Brown.
If you bend over backwards any farther to vilify Rice, you're going to need a chiropractor to straighten your spine back the way nature intended.
Once again, Bill O'Reilly shows his idiocy.
President Obama and Secretary of State Clinton brought our four slain diplomats home and eulogized them in a solemn and moving ceremony. Now they are working hard to determine what went wrong in Benghazi and how to prevent such a scenario from occuring in the future.
Meanwhile, Republicans continue to use those deaths for political purposes, apparently forgetting how they blocked much-needed funds for our diplomatic missions. Republicans are still doing what they do best (pretty much the only thing they do): weaving conspiracy theories and organizing witch hunts.
Let the Republicans shove their heads in the sand if they like, it will mean continued losses. The ones that don't, they do nothing but stand around and cackle ignorantly like the women in The Music Man.
OK. Fact. They knew the attack on the Ambassador was NOT motivated by a video. Why did they claim it was? They did not have to reveal any classified information if they simply said "We don't know" and "the matter is still being investigated". Instead they told a lie to mislead the public and to reinforce the Administration's story that it's Middle East policy was working.
I hope you have your defense of Condaleeza Rice lined up because all she did was promote her Administration's talking points .... which were lies. I guess she was just doing her JOB!!!
De' Nile-
It's the river where Republican'ts are treading neck deep in swirling, brown water.
Lindsey Graham: Is that Leonardo DiCaprio floating by?
Kelly Ayotte: Oh, my stars, how does my hair look?
John McCain: Glub, glub glub.
Feisty - reading about Bush from your profile. I never claimed to dictate what you say...just that everything you say is filled with Hate. You basically accuse anyone who doesn't agree with your opinions to be an evil, RWNJ as you like to put it.
Here is something another poster mentioned a few days ago and I believe it right on:
All I'm saying is that productive talk is better than hate filled crap that BOTH sides continue to throw at each other.
Clearly you are never for a lack for words, maybe they just done need to be so hateful.
I apologize for accusing you of having no job, that was not right on my behalf.
Oh dear, an anti-gay comment and a paternalistic misogynistic remark. Better watch out or the PC police of the left will be visiting you.
Oh my mistake. The left can say anything because they're the party of minorities....they don't have to walk the walk.
No black jokes about Michael Steele or Mia Luck up your sleeve?
The GOP obviously needs some black Senators/Congressmen, period.
Your comparison of Susan Rice and Condoleeza Rice doesn't hold water, Alan. Susan Rice, our U.N. Ambassador, was given talking points by the intelligence community yet the GOP claims she 'lied'.
Condoleeza Rice, on the other hand, gave us faulty intelligence that has been proven false. Just out of curiousity, whose words were "But we don't want the smoking gun to be a mushroom cloud"? Was Condi given those words, or were they her own words?
Why has the GOP gone after other high level black Obama administration officials as well, Alan? Don't pretend there is no racism in the Republican Party. It's the party of old white people.
It's ironic that Obama is asking Romney for advice when all he did was criticize his policies. Romney, the true gentleman and full blooded American that he is, is more than willing to share ideas to help this country. I'm glad Obama won the election because if he makes the tough choices that have to be made, people will embrace him. If Romney did this, he would be castigated as a rich and evil person who does not care for the poor. And for those like Feisty Redhead, who gets wet every time she mentions that Obama won, grow up. There is nothing worse than a sore winner. Congratulations on your victory President Obama; now lets do what needs to be done to unite our country rather than divide it.
THAT'S just cruel and unusual punishment Feisty! I wouldn't make my worst enemy eat peas! lmao, y'all are crackin me up today
Alan: I read the politico opinion piece you referenced. The problem I have with it is that NO WHERE does the President refer to the Ambassador as "his girl."
IMO, every President should defend anyone in their administration who is under false and baseless, purely political attacks.
What the President was saying is that he asked Amb. Rice to go on the news shows and tell what could be told at that time. If the Republican Senators don't like the message, talk to him, but don't attack Amb. Rice.
You have to wonder if McCain & Graham dragged the mindless Ayotte along so that it would not seem that the GOP was continuing its war against women.
I'm glad Romney and Obama are on speaking terms.
For those wondering why Romney lost, despite a large number of negative issues dogging the incumbent, I'd say it was because:
There are elements of the Republican platform which do resonate strongly with many Americans. But most Americans are not looking for the reawakening of biblical morality, as envisioned by the hard-core social conservatives in the party. Right or wrong, that is simply not where the feelings of most American sit.
More Faux Pas
From the article above:
I am reminded everyday by quotes like the above one from Stu Stevens, how much negative influence Faux and Rush have had on manipulating half of the American public with their lies and half-truths.
There is a disturbing, reoccurring theme perpetuated by the Right-wing media spouted to portray Democrats as lazy and moochers.
Shame on anyone who thinks this.
I personally find this offensive, as I feel the majority of Democrats are typical hard-working, God loving, constitution following, patriotic Americans.
There seems to be a constant inability for people on the right to admit their mistakes and to take responsibility for themselves. I guess it is one of the personality traits for being a Republican.
Romney lost because he’s a lying jerk and insulted the majority of Americans.
Stu Stevens is a loser because he’s a lying cry-baby, delusional A-%$#@.
There. I feel better already having set the record straight.
Salud
And what exactly is going on in Jesse Jackson's old district?
I guess you don't consider this racism?
You see the difference between you and me is that I hold ALL Administrations to the same standard. The Bush Administration lied through their teeth to achieve an invasion of Iraq. To this day I do not understand how Colin Powell was taken in by the fabrications pushed by Cheney. The idea that Saddam Hussein could build a nuclear weapon while two-thirds of his country was being bombed was just ludicrous. Now the current Administration tried to sell a story about a video and got caught. You insist on defending this lie. Go on, be lied to and accept it. I don't.
Just another example of how similar the Bush and Obama Administrations are. Change my ass. We are now heading towards 16 years of incompetence.
No because it an opinion that the President would not defend a male member of his cabinet is such a paternalistic way.
Rational Randy - try to actually BE rational. Nowhere does it say that Obama is asking Romney anything! He is doing what people with class do - he's clearing the air with his opponent. He MIGHT ask Romney about ideas but since Mitt couldn't articulate ANY during the campaign (go to my website- it's all explained there) it is doubtful he'll be able to discuss anything of value today!
Who says Obama is asking Romney for advice? More likely Obama will give Romney some much-needed advice. Or maybe Obama will just offer to be there as a shoulder to cry on. ;)
I was raised to believe that a 'true gentleman' tells the truth, has compassion for his fellow man, and does not consider himself to be better than other people. Romney is no gentleman. Far from it. He's an arrogant, selfish, lying S.O.B.
As for your calling Romney a 'full blooded American' ... the same can be said for Charles Manson and thousands of other depraved criminals.
Take off your white sheet and become a real American.
Well you RWNJ it looks like the black guy with the White hat won the presidency and the white guy with the black hat lost, suck it up, I promise not to vote for POTUS Obama a 3rd time
Fast and Furious shouts the GOP...... What about jobs, jobs, jobs say the American People
Fast and Furious shouts the GOP...... What about the Fiscal Cliff say the American People
Fast and Furious shouts the GOP...... What about giving certainty to the 98% of Americans about permanent Tax Break say the American People
Fast and Furious shouts the GOP ...... We just voted your A$$es out of office in 2012, and if you keep up with the wild eyed chant of Benghazi and dont start working for the Majority of Americans we are going to vote the rest of you GOP Bums out in 2014
Alan, NJ
That's one of those Fox News "facts." In other words, it's a lie. The real-world fact is that they STILL don't know if the video was a factor. There is evidence that that video motivated the attack, but by a small group of extremists rather than a large mob of protesters.
There is zero evidence that anyone lied. When something like the Benghazi attack happens, the government has an obligation to report the unclassified information they have at hand, and that's what they did.
And neither you nor McCain's merry band of character assassins STILL have explained why an attack by a small band of militia extremists followed by a very real and very large PRO-America protest is more politically damaging to the administration than a big, violent anti-American protest by the general population of Benghazi. That's because you can't explain it. A large and violent anti-American protest would have been far more politically damaging to Obama than an attack by a small band of extremists. There was no motive for a coverup. But the GOP has PLENTY of motives for inventing this crackpot conspiracy theory.
Maybe she was doing her job when she was spouting nonsense about the smoking gun being a mushroom cloud, but she was intimately involved in the process of cherry picking intelligence from dubious sources like an informant code-named "Curveball" that German intelligence warned the Bush administration was a mental case and a liar. Rice's wrong information was corrected in 2 weeks and had no serious consequences other than initiating McCain's witch hunt. Condee Rice's misinformation misled America into a useless war that killed over 4,000 Americans and hundreds of thousands of Iraqis. A slight difference in the two situations, don't you agree?
President Obama to Mr. Romney - Nate Silver. Like in 2008 - he only had one prediction that did not pan out.
I am in the financial world - I do not want to go over the fiscal cliff. After all the noise about the debt ceiling and the market responding negatively and then we were downgraded. No matter whether it is a cliff, curb, etc. the market will respond very negatively if the government does not do anything.
President Obama won soundly - better results are still coming in - move on and make a deal.
For some time now I have nursed a deep suspicion that most republicans are certifiably crazy. Stu Stevens warped commentary confirms my suspicions. Where do such people come from, and how do they gain the positions they do? Why would any National Official, after being elected by the people, pledge themselves to uphold a tenet of "Grover Norquist"? I can't find this person in the Constitution, bill of Rights, any historical document, or even in any Bible. Republican House and Senate members make that pledge though? Odd! Wonder why? Meanwhile, General Allen, and David Petraeus are devoting all their attention to 2 middle aged female groupies. Additionally, we have Benghazi. Killings that, when first reported, were done so in such an ambiguous way, It allowed republicans to go forth, laying the groundwork for the construction of a "Big Top" suitable to the name of "bullsh^t galore". Republicans love bullsh^t. Fact, we are very close to becoming a nation of bullsh^t. When our military begins loading missiles with polished turds we will finally be done. A national night of carousing followed by a national day of prayer may very well be in order, just for the hell of it.
What a disappointment, I had hoped to see an intelligent, adult conversation on this thread. Instead we have mostly a bunch of childish remarks from sore winners.
Back to the topic. Yes, we are moving on...the comments in the article? some are one step above gibberish.
New orders have already started to drop. Since we are so close to recession already, it won't be long before we will be back there.
Class warfare has become even deeply entrenched. Half of the country can no longer trust the other half since that half are the ones who voted for a President who has lied, not only about his opponent, but about very tragic events like Benghazi. How can you trust those who thinks it is OK for a President to lie to the US and to the world?
I hope Romney is able to educate this President how to create product-producing jobs. Manufacturing jobs are the NUMBER ONE thing we should be concentrating on, PERIOD. Obamacare, free contraception, amnesty for Illegals, raising tax rates on the rich, and service sector jobs will not create the growing economy we need to get out of the mess we are in. In contrast, they are a drag, not an accelerator of economic growth.
willowbrook
You, on the other hand, are a classic sore LOSER spouting all the usual bogus excuses and outright lies to explain away why Romney lost and smear the President of the United States.
And then you immediately accuse the president of lying and engage in the class warfare you so vehemently loathe. Right.
The initiation of intelligent, adult conversation should begin with the person bemoaning the lack of it.
Houston--how do you always beat me to the punch!?!
willowbrook,
[Manufacturing jobs are the NUMBER ONE thing we should be concentrating on … ]
In 2012 manufacturing jobs are at the highest level since 1997, a 15 year high.
Houston! I guess you amongst the 50% who find Obama's comments appropriate. We'll put you on the list of those we can't trust. If you are willing to accept a Leader who lies, it must mean you find it acceptable, and are willing to lie yourself. Hence, why we can't trust you.
And no, I'm not a sore loser. I've already made plans to protect myself for what lies ahead. I wanted better for our country than what we got. Too bad those like you were only thinking of yourselves, not the country as a whole.
BTW, the truth is not a smear. It is the truth. I won't waste time with the plentiful links that prove my statements correct. It will make no difference to those with blinders on.
What was it, like 17 House Committees, led by 17 white men??? Yeah, the GOP doesn't have a diversity problem, MY ASS.
What??? The Mayan apocalypse???
Of course you won't. Shocker.
Sour grapes belong to the Leftys they are like children in the playground teasing the smart nerdy kids, they are realizing Obama and his ever dwindling Administration is incapable of doing the job without major Phuck ups...Obama wants to meet with Romney because Obama doesn't have a clue how to get us out of this mess, and the major reason for his re-elect is the disgusting lies he told over and over, even after fact checking came out he kept up the lies and so did HIS Media,,sounds familiar huh?....Benghazi anyone ?Romney hates women, hates 47%,blah blah talking points takin out of context ( Normal lame network new's regurgitated over and over to confuse the ignorant and those too lazy to get the real full story and from the lefts comments it works very well)The Media (widely available on the net by several sources) was totally in Obama's pocket...they regurgitated lies over and over about Romney but sang O's praises Every day.And now Obama's spookspeople have stated Romney is a respected businessman and has ideas the President would be interested to hear.....he was the devil a few weeks ago and now he needs Romney's help....Typical left BS.Obama won by promising Yet again,to give give give to the lazy...no...Im not referring to the sick, our Vets, disabled,or Seniors,Which the left uses as lies that the Right wants to put them on the streets,it's all fear mongering and in the lefty handbook of how to scare all the helpless, you commies know that the Republicans do not want those programs takin away, when they talk of removing and or reeling in spending for excessive special programs directed at keeping the lazy, well lazy,The left has turned this Country into a bunch of baby's that feel entitled to what others have worked their butts off for,Nobody owes you anything, those on the Right give more to charity and the under privileged than the whaling babies on the left that claim to be for the under dog,BS put your money where your mouth is,write a check to the government if you love paying excessive taxes be our guest, and give to real charity's that give all the money to the intended, not the Red Cross that pays the big CEO's hundreds of thousands a year.Nah you guys seem he'll bent on conspiracy Crap you think the Right is up to,You guys need to take off your Obama hats they are making sound childish and nutty.
willowbrook
So, does that mean you won't loan me that hundred bucks I asked you for? Awww shucks.
Strange that someone from right would complain that Obama won because blacks and the poor vote overwhelmingly for him.
Shouldn't votes from Blacks and the poor count too?
Who is wearing the blinders? You accuse the President of telling lies when Romney's entire campaign consisted of nothing but lies! One of the many reasons he lost was because people couldn't figure out what he stood for. Meanwhile, the President was consistent about what he represents--and is in the process of following through on his promises.
Well, it's clear you're not one of the "smart" ones.
Bart,
Stu's saying that is also contradictory to the GOP's claims that they're "diverse" and "in touch" will ALL voters. Really? Which is it, Stu???
You have a link that backs up this statement?
Now if you don't have link dated prior to the Sunday that Susan Rice appeared on TV then she, or person still unknown, told an unsubstantiated rumor to the public.
BTW When this small band of heavily-armed protesters showed up, motivated by the video, why did the crowd in Egypt not carry similar weapons? I guess there's no chance that Benghazi was pre-planned? It was all spur of the moment stuff motivated by outrage?
@ Houston!, post 1.101 that was funny! :)
@ Jack - thanks for proving my point....folks like you make my job easier.
willowbrook - your post shows the lack of intelligence that caused the Republicans to lose the Presidency. Mitt could not educate anyone on anything as evidenced during his campaign when he kept referencing his website instead of actually answering a question.
Manufacturing is up beyond what it was during the Bush years. You really need to crawl back under your rock - your skin is cracking!
Oh, and if this is "your job" - you're fired because you are failing at it - miserably!
The only thing that could prove your point are all those links you claim to have, but refuse to post.
Yep, lots of Progressives are NOT moving on.....just look at the above/below posts.
And the #1 person who continues to spike the football.....Mr. Obama (Job1).
Obama and Romney are at lunch, while Stu Stevens seems to be out to lunch. Keep your present message Stu, and watch all your party's supports die off from old age. GOP - the party of Grumpy Old People (old referring to attitude, not necessarily age, of course).
Hey Stu, did you ever consider that Rick Sanorum may have been correct - the GOP (as it is now) will never win the votes of smart people.
John - clearly Ido is out to lunch with Stu. Isn't it amazing that the little righties just can't get over losing?
The biggest delusion that I continue to see among hard-core Republicans is that everyone who voted for President Obama are fools who worship him.
The simple truth is that the Republican base has moved far right, and mistakenly believe they represent the majority of Americans. They nominated a candidate who had to compete with the others to prove he was more conservative. They refused to support more moderate candidates who had appeal to the center, to both moderate Republicans and conservative Democrats. Republicans lost the center in their effort to have it all. If they had nominated Jon Huntsman, the only Republican contender who refused to totally pander to the far Right, they might have won the election. A lot of moderates, myself included, expressed interest in Huntsman. But instead, Republicans allowed themselves be convinced that America hated President Obama so much that we would vote for Mr. Romney.
willowbrook,
[@ Jack - thanks for proving my point....folks like you make my job easier.]
So you admit that you are a paid poster … thanks!
@ Seeking Sanity - Your post has me laughing so hard it makes it hard to type. Talk about someone who needs to get back under the rock! I won't waste my time clicking "no value" on that one........
willowbrook
Class warfare? It is already going on against the middle and poor class for 20 plus years.
Obama care will create more jobs doctors, nurses, office personal.Free contraceptives reduce what we have to spend for welfare.Raising taxes on the rich help reduce a portion of the DEBT.Service sector jobs more tax revenue.Amnesty for children that have lived here the only place they call HOME.
IS that clear enough for you.
Obama won even though, according to a Jim Greer (former GOP state chairman), that the voting changes in Florida were enacted to SUPPRESS the vote of minorities. Google it RWNJ and feel the SHAME of disenfranchising Americans of the most basic rights.
Obama win = MANDATE!!!
Not saying all..but 75% of the republicans are still crying.
Here's a tissue..go blow your nose.
HILLARY 2016
Obama worn because of ignorant campaign managers like you Stevens.
Seeking sanity: if Obama was smart he would ask Romney for advice, considering the policies of the past four years have done nothing to turn the economy around, and Romney's track record shows him to be quite successful.
kaybeetoys: I'll let your ignorance of name calling speak for itself.
TO: Rational Randy who wrote:
President Obama has been in office for 4 years, going on 8.
Romney, as he himself said "Left it all on the field, and gave it everything he had" to try to win, and the American People not only rejected him, but rejected his policies as well.
Even Romney's adopted States, and Paul Ryan's home town, all voted for President Obama.
Romney never has been and never will be President of the United States.
That said, I think Republicans have gone way far off base acting as if ANYONE needed ANYTHING from Mitt Romney, because we DON'T.
I'm sure Mitt Romney is happy to be invited to the White House for lunch or any other reason.
Hopefully Romney's supporters won't ruin it for Romney by continuing on with the same level of speech that already cost Republicans the election.
Another thing I find interesting in an endlessly disgusting way are the "men" who come here seemingly for no other purpose than to once again flail themselves effeminately against the castle of reason called Feisty Redhead...
There's more information about them in between their words than in the actual words themselves. Do they even realize that they lay their personalities bare in front of normal people when they do that? Were their Mothers THAT bad to them? The fact that manhood has not been achieved by them by this point does not bode well for its possibility in the future. They've become what they are for whatever reasons and probably fallen into disuse because of it.
At least one of them included the word "sackless" in his screen name, so there is at least a glimmer of truth in advertising.
If you can't refrain from attacking a woman for whatever "reasons" occur to your disturbed personalities, you are truly beneath the least among us. Takers from the start. Miscreants. I shudder to think of what would happen if you ever crossed the physical path of a real man. Worthless un-american Nancy-boys. All the bail-out monies in recorded history couldn't purchase you a single redeeming social value.
chick binder,
Interesting you should write that. I've been thinking about how Caesar Augustus and Albany Joe and several others have been trying to belittle me lately by calling me Jacklyn or "schoolmarm" or otherwise referring to me as a woman. As you say, there's more information between their words about who they are and what they represent than they realize.
Stu Stevens is absolutely correct about everything he stated. The Obama campaign painted Romney as an "evil, wealthy, white-man" right from the start.
The media, to include this particular website, went along with it too. Some members of the media, once again even those associated with this website, lied and obfuscated for Obama. Candy Crowley from CNN being the most notable and perhaps the worst of all.
Even now, listening to the "analysis" after the election is over, all we keep hearing is "white males don't count anymore."
That is pretty much the goal of the Obama crew. They don't want true equality. They want superiority. They want to transfer wealth, and "power" from one demographic segment of our society to another. But, they want to do it completely, and with finality.
I spent 36 years of my life supporting, and voting for Democratic candidates, until I actually began to see the media hype and bias that I denied for so long.
Obama won by something like 3.5 million votes. That's less than half the population of New York City. In fact, it's still less than the population of NYC's two most inhabited boroughs combined.
So, for as much as First Read and the rest of the BIASED, LYING media tries to make more of the 2012 election than what it really was; anyone with half a brain can see that the margin was close (less than 4% of the total electorate) and that we are still deeply divided as a nation.
PS......the following post from a professed liberal democrat is exactly the reason why I am no longer a voting member of that party;
Happy Holidays America, hope you have some money for Christmas presents this year.
If you don't it isn't Mitt Romney's fault.
:-)
willowbrook - just a couple polite questions: how did you manage to get so stupid? You ask how anyone could vote for Obama who lied to the american people about Benghazi. a. You have no proof he has lied. All you have is claims by the fox news propaganda mill. He said it was an act of terrorism. b. What difference does it make whether he, Rice, or anyone else said it was a planned terror attack or a spontaneous terror attack sparked by a video? Exactly what difference does it make?
Lies? Bush lied us into war. Condi Rice lied about what Bush did. Bush and Cheney lied us into an energy policy set by Enron. Cheney lied about who was responsible for the treasonous act of outing Plame. These lies had real - and bad- consequences for the lives of many people. Did you vote for Bush?
Lies? You are lying about class warfare.
Lies? Romney lied every time he opened his mouth. He lied so often that he managed to turn almost everything he has previously said into a lie. Did you vote for Romney?
Lies: Ryan is so compulsive a liar he even lied about his best marathon time.
Here's a truth: the only thing wrong with class warfare is that it has been waged almost solely by the top ten percent. And it looks like you think that's a good thing. That you think nothing will be right in the U.S. until the top tiny slice of the population possesses 98% of the the country's income and assets. Which is, after all, what will happen if the socialism for corporations (i.e., fascist) right continues to make policy.
So why don't you and the rest of the neo-fascist right come out and say that? Instead of lying with every word you utter.
We're moving on-----FORWARD!
" ... her inability to shoot straight with the American people. ... "
Her sharing with the American people the information that she had at the time is not "shooting straight"? So do you have proof that she didn't? I mean other then from Fox News or Bill O?
" ... She just happens to be a black woman. ... "
And you just happen to be a white male moron?
Alan,
Your projection be ugly.
Why don't you dip your head in water three times and pull it out twice?
Stay classy.
" ... No black jokes about Michael Steele or Mia Luck up your sleeve? ... "
Nope. Just jokes about ignorant, arrogant men from N.J..
" ... You insist on defending this lie. ... "
No. I just wait for the facts BEFORE I talk. And so far there aren't enough facts for me to say one way or the other.
Other then my comment above that she shared what she was told she could. Was it a lie? Was it the truth? I don't know. But unlike you, I will wait and see.
So how about you doing the same?
" ... If you are willing to accept a Leader who lies, it must mean you find it acceptable, ... "
So you believed Bush, et al. You Believed Romney. And they are proven liars. So that says what about you?
As to the current President lying. You have proof? From other then Fox News, Rush, Bill O. or the rodeo clown Glen?
Alan, NJ
Not that you'll accept facts that conflict with what you want to believe:
From the NY Times article:
Alan NJ:
I guess you were on another planet for the whole time the Arab Spring was taking place. The overthrow of the Egyptian dictator was not done by heavily armed militias, so there weren't a lot of heavy weapons available to the crowd in Egypt. In Libya, there WERE militias involved, and they kept their RPGs in their closets for use on short notice. The Benghazi attack may have been pre-planned, but this was not the D-Day landing level of planning. The planning was very likely done in a matter of hours. These Libyan militias were used to planning their attacks and defenses against Gaddafi's military quickly. Gaddafi's military was a lot better armed than the security forces at the US consulate could possibly ever be.
There is no mystery at all here. The only mystery is why you think it was more politically damaging for the Obama administration to acknowledge that the attack was carried out by a small band of extremists, as turned out to be the case, than it was to claim the attack was the result of a mass anti-American uprising tied to the anti-Muslim video.
Please explain.
" ... considering the policies of the past four years have done nothing to turn the economy around ... "
Huh. 30+ months of job growth. Lower unemployment the under the last year of Bush. Manufacturing up higher then under Bush. Record highs in the stock market.
Yep, "nothing to turn the economy around".
You mean like all the jobs the Republicans in Congress have created?
Huh. Imagine that.
All at a cost of a mere 4 trillion dollars. More jobs at Panera Bread and Appleees. The stock market is on it's highs because companies like Hewlett Packard and Met Life are laying off more employees. I'm heavily invested in the market so I'm quite happy the market is where it is at. Thank you Mr. Obama.
ZMan2012
Wrong. Obama won by AT LEAST 4.5 million votes, and they're still counting. G.W. Bush beat John Kerry by 3 million votes -- 1.5 million less than Obama's marging. And yet the same characters who said Bush had a mandate are now claiming that President Obama does NOT have a mandate. I guess there's been some mandate inflation since 2004.
" ... "white males don't count anymore." ... "
Speaking as a "white male", that is almost a correct statement. The "white male" is now one of the smallest minorities in this country. And thus "count" for less. One "man", one vote.
Also, because of a few "white males" on the Republican/Conservative side, and the inane statements that they made. i.e.: legitimate rape, and God's will. They have put the "white male" in this position.
And fortunately that is not a bad thing. As it means that the interests of more of the country will be met. More of what most of this countries people believes will become the norm. And that the wants of the few will not be forced onto the many.
As a "white male", I take a great deal of pleasure in becoming part of "we the people". Rather then "we the angry white male". And that this country will now be able to move forward. Forward in ways that were not possible when the "white male" counted MORE then the rest.
The King is dead. Long live the People!
To a dissatisfied amount of our readers/ Would you please move on from your bitter disapointment on the election results and your ridiculous attempts to convince the winners to stop trying to implement our,the majorities s vote. You lost we rejected your attempts to impose the right wing votes upon us. You will not,at this time and i hope, never impose your attempts to disenfranchise the citizens of this country. There has been an insane amount of money used in that attempt and I am surprised but thrilled that you minions of the super rich greedy ***** did not succeed I hope but doubt that you will give up and now consider that as Americans that you would support the attempts to advance us all into the great society that we want and that most of us deserve.
TO: ZMan2012 who wrote:
I don't what kind of "paint" you put on Romney, I wasn't ever going to vote him for any reason and it's beyond time for Republicans to STOP trying to blame EVERYBODY for Romney's loss because the results of that election are not going to change.
The only thing one candidate had to do better than the other was to "get out the vote" so said the Media.
Obviously, President Obama's voters showed up at the polls, and Romney's didn't.
Romney should speak out to his supporters and show the world exactly how a MAN takes "PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY" for his own failures, something that Romney said the "47%ers" could NEVER do.
Bye bye, Mitt Robme!
JimD - you can't see my but I'm bowing to you! Out of the office so I had no time to replay to demented willowbrook but you did it masterfully! Bravo!
You Republicans are a strange bunch. You nominated Romney even though most of you didn't like him all that well. I don't think he even got anywhere near 50% of the vote in any of the early primaries and can't remember if he even reached 50% after he had the nomination in his pocket. The only reason he won the nomination is because he had the money to carpet bomb his opponents with negative ads.
So he doesn't win over enough independents and Reagan Democrats to win in the general election. My question is --- why on earth are you so shocked by the outcome?? If you -- the true believers weren't all that wild about him --- why on earth would you expect to win over enough of the fence straddlers to win the general election?
What I really like about this election is that a rich, white, oligarch with nearly a billion bucks in his pocket, couldn't beat a black President running with an ailing economy, much unemployment, and sketchy foreign policy. What is truly amazing is Romney was the best the repubs could find as a candidate. Now their going to have Jeb Bush for 2016, the man that ran Florida into the ground. Looks like the Bush dynasty will get another go-around, "and I just said good luck".
Another thing, Carl Rove spent almost $400 million of his heavy lifters money, I guess nobody told him that after, 200 or 300 hundred million of your clients money it bigends to start to run into really big
money. Better start looking over your sholdetr for few months.
Ido,
Why do you continue to talk like a winner when you were and are the loser. The minority still talks like it is the majority and Americans are getting sick of the obstructionism and lack of compromise. Keep it up and see what happens in 2014.
Houston,
I'm a strong Obama supporter, but zman's numbers are more accurate than yours on the election results!
@ Jim876 - all of the "jobs" you are talking about are the jobs that are supported by Manufacturing jobs. Hence why we need more manufacturing jobs. Try running a country on service jobs only.....not going to work, as you have to have the tax revenue FIRST before being able to pay for a service sector job!
As for free contraception, moving the cost of the "free contraception" from the welfare line item to another line does not make the cost go away, it is just not so clever accounting practices. No savings there.
Class warfare is alive and well and it is shifting from the poor to the middle class. The poor have more cash than the Middle class family whose taxes are paying for the poor.
As for increasing the taxes on the rich. That's a pipe dream. You could take all their money and still not fix the problem. Spending cuts must happen.
@ JimD your post is so full of it I have to respond point by point....
I spent my time watching CBS News, with the President, Rice and others spouting the same lie repeatedly for 2 weeks. I take it you don't watch the news or pay attention much. At least CNN had reported some of those who told the truth. (Like the President of Syria.) Even in the debates, the President lied about what he said when, both sides of the isle pointed that out. The Liberal tactic of repeating a lie so often it "becomes" truth didn't work here. Hence why they are raking Rice over the coals in Congress right now. Benghazi was a tragedy, one that could have been adverted if our Administration had done their job.
If you take off your blinders you will remember all side of the isle said the same thing about WMD, so this is not an apples to apples comparison. Congress agreed with the President about going to war.
No I'm not. I'm one of those persons whose class status has been reduced by Obama policy. I'm no longer Middle class, I've lost most of my health care due to Obamacare. I'm offended that I will have to pay a "tax" for not being able to afford health care so that people who already have health care can have more health care. I'm sick to death of those who scream racism where none exists to bully persons like me into accepting policy and ways of life that are contrary to the aspirations America was built on.
No he didn't and you know it. Don't use generalizations to support your argument, very weak. For example, duringthe debates, Romney's comments concerning jobs were 100% on point. But then, I'm assuming you don't work in manufacturing like I do, so you wouldn't know that.
Once again, more generalizations. Know what, I could care less if Ryan ran a marathon. I didn't even know he was a runner. Why would you use this for an example running is not a pre-requisite to be Vice President. If you want to think about some lies. Go watch 2016, then look at things the President has said and done. If you can put 2+2 together, it will be an eye-opener.
The class warfare has been instituted by those running for office to help create voting blocks for their re-election. Those same folks are getting so stupid they are willing to hurt the principle jobs creators in this country, (small business) to further their goals. For example: It is really hypocritical to claim "corporations are not paying taxes" after they are the ones who created the tax code, with the rules that "S" corps taxes are paid by the Officers (shareholders) on their personal returns. The largest class of corps in this country are "S" corps, over 60% of those are small businesses. So they are paying taxes, just not under the "corporate" line item. Yet the Liberals are willing to use this "half truth" to turn the ignorant against "the greedy corporations."
You can call me "stupid or ignorant" (Another classic Liberal playbook tactic to bully those not toeing their line.) I prefer to seek out information, not be blinded by party talking points. Just so you know, I'm a fiscal conservative. I think both parties need to step up and stop the wasteful spending immediately. (Especially where it is solely used to buy votes.) Stop kicking the can down the road, buckle down and get the country back on track. Part of that also means getting out of the way of those who create jobs. We don't need the govt. creating jobs. They don't create the kind of jobs we really need, and they are wasteful there as well. We need business creating jobs. It is a win, win. More money for Americans, more revenue for govt. and fewer on entitlements. Even you should be able to see the logic of that.
.
A nice gesture on Obama's part to invite Romney to the White House for lunch. But what on earth could he possibly learn from someone who stands for nothing but his own personal gain?
Jack in Portsmouth asks:
That's an easy one Jack. Clearly the President already knows how to get deficits moving downward. He seems to have found a recipe for adding jobs to the work force month after month. He sure knows how to win elections. What can he learn from Romney? Elevators, Jack, elevators.
Sure, the President has ridden in your basic elevator. Push a button and you go up or down. But, really, what does he know about CAR elevators. Not much I'd bet. He may also be interested in finding out why Mitt Romney's elevator doesn't go all the way to the top.
I personally hope the president takes time out for a nananana na moment. Of course he has to much class for that
This is kind of a weird story. Why would they be having lunch in the first place? Romney isn't Speaker or Minority Whip. He holds no real power in Congress. He can't help Obama move any legislation. Lunch seems an odd thing for them to be doing together.
Looks to me like a lot of people can't leave the election behind, on both sides. One side thinks they have a mandate to do whatever they like, while the other thinks the whole thing was rigged. Neither side is correct, but both are poor sportsmen.
David,
Ahh, that's just too funny!
Say . . . who's going to explain the joke to the Albanian Idiot?
Ron and Fiesty have no life. Or should I say they really need a job.
AG99, Romney's diet has actually been critized by many nutritionists for years now becuase it tends too be too high in sodium and too low in healthy fats. Obama probably just wants to introduce him to the White House culinary staff who can maybe put together a better diet-plan for him to ensure his long-term health. Just because they were political opponents and provided fierce competition for one another doesn’t mean that at the end of the day they aren’t both humans who genuinely care about the physical well-being of one another and I believe that that is often lost in all the hype and hoopla that people like you are guilty of generating for suggesting things like romeny shouldn’t be allowed to eat lunch becuase he’s not important enough.
The gesture of inviting Mitt Romney to the WH for lunch is called reaching across the aisle; it's called putting the campaign behind and letting people who voted for Romney know that Obama is president of all the people not just democrats and those who voted for him. I see nothing wrong with any president being willing to listen to the ideas of their previous opponent. During his "I won" speech after the election, President Obama said he talked to Romney and extended an invitation to meet. President Obama was keeping his word.
@Jody -- Nicely said.
Jody....well stated, even if the president was not my candidate of choice.
You can clearly see the divide the country is facing, its apparent even on this site. Now, more than ever, its time for our elected officials to work together...BOTH sides.
I dont want to hear all this BS that is JUST the Republicans. They ARE JUST AS GUILTY, IF NOT MORE SO.
However, its the House that passes legislation to the Senate for voting. Harry Reid has refused to allow anything be debated on the floor. He is obstructing just as well.
AG99 Said it very well:
Agree.
No because it an opinion that the President would not defend a male member of his cabinet is such a paternalistic way.
Alan, NJ
If you play the audio backwards a few thousand times while drinking a couple six-packs, I'm sure you can hear Obama saying whatever you want to pretend he said.
Jody... well stated...
Hey, I'm all for it; it just seemed out of place. If it helps Obama evolve his viewpoints to include more Americans instead of just over half, then that's great. We need more cross-pollination in our politics instead of all this poisonous divisive talk.
" ... like romeny shouldn’t be allowed to eat lunch becuase he’s not important enough. ... "
No. But he shouldn't be eating lunch on my dime. He's worth somewhere near $250 million dollars. Let him buy his own damned lunch.
And if he really wants to eat lunch at the White House, let him WIN an election. The he can eat there all he wants. But then after failing at it twice, maybe his God is trying to tell him something.
Some of you on the left are disgustingly childish and Bullies, makes me wonder if its your children that bully kids at school and online, and their victims hurt themselves or others,They say those that act in this manner are insecure, intimidated and or envy their victims because of their success,or their own lack of,life,things,relationships,beliefs,ect..I do not understand why those on the left act like this,We expect our Government to work this out and compromise, but by the comments here if this is the way it is for them,I can see why nothing gets done,The left is all high and mighty we can do whatever we want and the right is trying to hold on to our America, the one that encourages people to follow their dreams and you can make as much money and build a company or whatever as long as you aim high and work hard for it,But the Left is taking all incentive away, why try harder than $250k? It's going to be taxed and the Co would be extra taxed on top of the personal, that's going to stop a lot of people, before ya know it the Gov will have to care for everyone because there are no jobs like now but worse,I remember When Bush won the last time and we had people on the left threatening to move to other Country's,kill themselves, deep depression ect..and it went on for the following 4yrs,so please stop being so smug, most can deal,we're not happy but come on with the Nanananah crape got it we are VERY aware who got in the WH,but we don't have to like it anymore than you loved Bush.We have completely different views but there is room for compromise,However Obama Put his foot down before talks even started,How is that reaching across the isle.
zman,
I'm an Obama supporter, but Houston's numbers are more accurate than yours. Check and see!
.
Hmm, couldn't get your comment in on time, eh Feisty?
Seems just yesterday you were harping about others for just this very same thing.
Freakin hypocrite.
And yet she got two up votes. Gotta love the Fisty Fan Club don't ya?
Amazing what happens when I polish me dog whistle! lol
Here's a Scooby-Snck, now go play in traffic!
Hand
Seems to me that it was you two lasses that voted her up ... that would explain the vote for WCA.
And now she has stolen my dog whistle line.
Go ahead now Feisty, be predictable and claim you had it first, like you always do.......
Actually bcwc, there are four of them now and not one is mine. YOURS maybe????
I do believe you have set some sort of speed record for playing your "victim" card! lol
Poor baby...
Trolls gotta troll.
Remember kids...tell Pam...uh, I mean Fiesty how you feel at pam.1018@hotmail.com
Gee, Feisty, the clowns keep lusting after you. It must be like trying to have a serious conversation at a party with a bunch of little mutts constantly yipping at your heels--you just want to give them a good kick!
Jack,
Like moth's to the flame! ☺
The "sackless" one is most amusing! lol
The Fiesty Way:Take take take.
Feisty and crew,
As you're a student of politics, and so well versed in detailing daily how your life is and will be better under O (without ever hating on the right, of course) I have an honest question. After all, you're on here all day so whom better to ask?
As a small business owner, my accountant sent me, as well as all of his clients, an alert notice outlining how we are now going to be affected, fica tax-wise, how we should now report capital gains ASAP, employee healthcare challenges, etc. It's not good, and my circle of other small business owner counterparts are going to be hit hard as well, and are scared to death for their family, and employees. A counterpart of mine in town had to hire two individuals because he had to let two go. A few years ago when you'd put out a job notice, you'd be inundated with applications. Now? Just a handful. And he's not alone. One person he tried to recruit even told him that he's better off just getting his unemployment check and not working. And again, he's not alone. And these are not business owners with second homes in Hawaii - these are small business owners who financially struggle. I know I'd never have to worry about you saying anything negative about wealthy small-business owners, so thanks. I also know you're smart enough to not play blame games about past years, because I've lived it, so I know when I am better off than not. Thanks again.
So, my question is Feisty, is O going to save us economically? Can you give me such assurance? Can I pass this assurance on to my family and employees? Because right now, the dollars and cents people are saying we're in for it and to prepare for the worst.
I feel secure that I can come to you because you have shown every day that you aren't the rude, mean-spirited, extremist type, and that you are uber-educated in economics and that you have a real soft heart for small-business owners and Americans as a whole - on the left and the right. You'd never campaign for someone just because you hate the other guy, so I value your opinion. Happy Thursday...
Wow, WCA and hand, you two are a couple whiny little bitches, aren't you? Aww, Are you sad and spiteful yours lost the election and feel the need to lash out? LOL. Try to have some self respect "guys".
rosieodonnellsmoustache
Let me quote you pal ... "Feisty and her cronies! The first to lead off posting on a political story day in and day out, NOT an attention-seeking whore? And everrrrrrrybody else is hypocritical. CLASSIC!!!"
"Whore"? Ya, that deserves getting a response.
Feisty and Beverly in Chicago - Two perfect examples of government money going down the drain..........working for the administration and talking trash on all of these threads............shame on you both.
@blackcat -- Where did Rosie say that?
Two pieces of advice: You're small. You're not the only small person on the planet. Accept it and let it go.
Get yourself a new accountant, someone competent. Your accountant should be helping you plan your tax strategy, not frightening you with rumors and gossip.
Can the comments on this thread get any more brainless than this?
I haven't decided what I find most offensive about you!
Is it you name, avatar or bull@!$%# filled rant?
Hmmmm... decisions... decisions...
Yeah, Fisty... go get 'em.... there's no bull@!$%# in your vitriolic rants, is there? Oh, the heat of the kitchen....
Cat,
You bet I said that - of course, in response to HER calling myself others attention seeking whores, and ME calling it hypocritical. Do you dig up Feisty's post saying this? Of course not.
I don't expect a response anyway, thus the sarcasm. I would just like to know (just like kaybee responded with, although misinformed because my accountant has been with me for years and I trust him with my livelihood) if anyone on here is competent enough to respond to a small business owner without spewing insults, without flipping out like a crazy person, and without mentioning the past or anyone on the Republican side of the fence. Ya know...real life stuff. Not just being on here to get attention, attract a few cronies, and rack up important things like "likes" and green stars.
Hey, I like O...nice guy, shoots hoops, smokes...I like him. But I don't agree with his plan. Is that so wrong? I voted the other way not because I dislike Obama, but because as a small business owner living through this business-wise (along with countless friends and acquaintances in the same boat feeling the pain) things are going in the wrong direction. Kaybee, to simply say "get a new accountant" shows no care or empathy whatsoever for what people are going through. Sad, really. My question was, how is O's plan going to help me...in your words.
People say to STEER CLEAR of forums like this because it's filled with extreme wacko's, and I'm starting to see it. No accountability...no taking ownership of what's happening. Just flinging @!$%# at others who don't agree with your viewpoint...to make themselves feel better about themselves somehow. And blaming others and deflecting.
People - I have people ADMITTING they'd rather stay on unemployment, than work. 99 weeks? Are you effing serious? And then, guess what? They go off of unemployment, unemployment goes down obviously, and then they're too lazy and they're conditioned not to work. Sorry, I don't agree with this...if you DO, it's your opinion.
Hey, I'm just gonna keep pluggin', hope for the best, and honestly hope you all voted for O because of his merits and accomplishments, rather than because you hate the right. (I know it can go both ways, but I'm not one of 'em.)
Honestly, sarcasm aside, good luck to you all and I honestly hope you/we get through this and land on the upside. And for Feisty...I know you say you do...but I truly hope you find daily and lifelong happiness being a jagbag on an Internet message board. If that's what's important in your life, best of luck.
... and btw Fisty:
We all know how and where you polish your dog whistle, honey.... blech....
AH, FEISTY! There you are! Avoiding the question I see. That's fine, and what I expected. Hahahaha
Pot meet kettle. You're not a hypocrite at all! Your rants bring nothing to the table except for the rewards of "likes" and little green stars. Good luck with those!
Feisty - why choose? I vote for all three!
Tony D - perhaps you can explain this to me. Why are Republicans crude and classless? You seem to have the two traits down pat so you can easily explain, right? Is it a requirement?
rosieodonnellsmoustache
When I want business advise, First Read is my First Choice!!!
LOL.
Moustache, by any chance, does the small business you run manufacture BS?
Perhaps you export condescending remarks and import paranoid delusions.
Judging from your lack of business savvy and utter contempt from your fellow American consumers, my guess is you are not a small business owner but in fact a part-time, Drudge Report lackey who toggles back and forth between Liberal media sites and internet sleaze sites.
Salud
Wow Tomas, you use some big fancy words - you must be a pretty big deal!
You also are a mindreader...so easy to determine business acumen and savvy so quickly!
Don't stereotype my friend.
Prost
The truth will come out over the next 4 years, and I fear it will be ugly. Those of us that are actually part of running businesses, and have accountability for making payroll, for P & L, and for deciding on hiring and firing are listening to the finance folks. BTW, we are tightening belts. I also don't understand the hate of "wealth", which is defined as $250K a year for married folks. That is NOT wealthy. Equality means everyone paying their fair share.....I say everyone pays 10% of their income.....no deductions, just a flat 10%. You want to make $250K a year? Then you need to be willing to work and sacrifice and do what I do.....but you are not entitled to a bigger piece of my earnings. It's mine, I earned it, and it is for me and my family. I pay way more than my fair share.
amike - as someone who works and does well I can say Independents and Democrats do not and never have hated wealth. Your claim is so silly and represent the losing mindset of the GOP. I am willing to pay more in taxes and many who are doing well or wealthy are willing to do. It is only the small-minded, it's all mine, Republicans who are unwilling to help the country.
You have NEVER before and do not now pay more than your fair share. Grow up and at least try to act like an adult!
Yes there is a like of wealth.....other people's. Your name calling and vitriol is typical of the liberals on this board.....it is you that are small minded. If you want to pay more....go right ahead. You are also incorrect about me paying my fair share....not sure you are doing that well or you would realize you are footing the bill for many many people who contribute nothing and are content doing so. Have a great day.
Seeking -
Really...read the 2nd post on this forum from Feisty, the resident leader of the liberals on this board. How is that not crude and classless. At least be fair and balanced...
OK - I'm now starting to think these people are over-medicated...chick, sanity, etc.
Now it's sexism. Ok. Un-American as well now, too. Wow...simply, wow.
So let's get this straight for the record; Feisty is not rude, crass, mean spirited, and hateful. But anyone who doesn't agree with her is. Correct?:
You can't even be fair and balanced on something as black and white as THIS??? Lord, we're doomed...
rosie -
CORRECT! If you don't like it here - go someplace that will appreciate your sarcasm and hatefulness. Hate your avatar, by the way. Very mean and says more about you than you intended, I am sure.
Kim, Kim, Kim...I don't give a @!$%# what you think about my avatar, just like Feisty and Co. don't care what people think of them while THEY are being hateful and sarcastic. See? It goes both ways. But of course for them, because you side with them politically, it is justified. Silly.
Hypocrisy running rampant, that's the point.
Rosie,
They are the Bully's on the playground, and unfortunately Are responsible for the Bully children that have no respect for anyone much less themselves,It's a whole new world, looks like the beginning of problems like in the Middle East, right here in the USA.
chick binder 3.30: what an intelligent post; criticising others resorting to name calling, by calling them..... names.
Fox Hosts Norquist To Erase $1.5 Trillion In Obama Spending Cuts
Fox News gave Americans for Tax Reform president Grover Norquist a platform to claim that Obama "doesn't want spending restraint" when it comes to the federal budget. But neither Fox host Bill Hemmer nor Norquist mentioned the fact that Obama has already signed bills that will reduce spending by $1.5 trillion over the next 10 years and that Obama has repeatedly endorsed a balanced approach to deficit reduction that includes both tax increases and spending cuts.
But Obama Has Already Signed $1.5 Trillion In Spending Cuts ...
CBPP: Funding Reductions Signed By Obama "Have Produced $1.5 Trillion In Savings." A November 8 report by the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities (CBPP) stated:
Policymakers and budget experts generally agree on the need to reduce projected deficits and put the federal budget on a sustainable path. They have focused less attention, however, on the amount of deficit reduction that the 112th Congress and the President have enacted. Reductions in funding for discretionary (i.e., non-entitlement) programs enacted last year, primarily in the Budget Control Act, have produced $1.5 trillion in savings in discretionary spending for fiscal years 2013 through 2022.
[...]
These reductions will shrink non-defense discretionary spending to its lowest level on record as a share of GDP, with data going back to 1962.
CBPP also noted that the reductions will "produce lower interest payments on the debt," leading to an additional $250 billion in interest savings, and included this graph showing the projected decrease in funding:
Indeed, Some Progressives Have Criticized Obama For Cutting Spending Too Much. Some progressives have argued that Obama's proposals cut government spending too much.
Obama's Deficit Reduction Plan "Would Cut $2.50 In Spending Allowances For Every $1 Of Increased Tax Revenue." A September 9 CBS article reported that Obama's plan for reducing the deficit "would cut $2.50 in spending allowances for every $1 of increased tax revenue - the same deal House Republicans turned down during last year's near-government shutdown episode."
Obama: "We've Got To Reduce Our Deficit, But We've Got To Do It In A Balanced Way" During the October 17 presidential debate, Obama said that he wanted to lower the deficit by both taxing the wealthiest Americans and cutting spending:

I’m starting to wonder how long you’ll Yahoo’s are going to live in the alternate reality created by Ol’ Grover and aided and abetted by the Political Entertainment Channel.
Remember the same People that are still waiting for Ol’ Willards Landslide to sweep away all opposition. Looks like chances of that happening are the same as they always were. Slim and None.
Meanwhile back in everybody else’s reality.
We’ve shown you’ll some of ours. Now’s the time for you’ll to show us some of your’s.
Obama: "We've Got To Reduce Our Deficit, But We've Got To Do It In A Balanced Way"
Independent, but that's not the Republican way. They are naturally selfish and don't care who knows it. They care about very little except their over-sized wallets.
If we the people have to foot the bill, they will be perfectly okay with that. That's how evil they really are.
Pat, if your family shared the same budgeting ideas as the government you would be out on the streets of Boston.
Oh, my, the truth slips out; thanks for posting it, IR. President Obama has reduced spending; he has a balanced approach to getting the debt under control. Not sure what time the reality train stops at GOPerVille and if it does, will anyone climb on board?
It's pretty obvious, Guess He Can't has left the reality building and entered the Whine Side of Midnight. It's what GOPers do best, avoid the truth and whine when it is pointed out to them....and complain about the liberals posting too much and not having jobs while he/she posts nonstop, one-liner nonsense on FR.
GUESS HE CAN'T
Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people.
Eleanor Roosevelt
I have a sneaking hunch that if we could somehow find your brain to take it out and put it in a matchbox it would bear the same relationship to a BB rolling down the Interstate
IR- that's one of my favorite quotes of all time
So what happens when one has a "great" mind and the other has a "small" mind..........like the POTUS
IR--it is so troubling to me how the Democrats sit back and let the Republicans define the debate and in so doing spread their mistaken beliefs. We have less government today than we've had in decades and all we hear is how they want to "starve the beast". That is until it cuts one of their sacred cows.
In case you haven't noticed, we ARE footing the bill already. We can't afford any more of the bill. If you raise the taxes on 250,000 or more, they pass it on in the prices we are charged, if they don't have a business, they now make 249,999. There is no way out except for reducing the SPENDING!!! We can't afford to pay anymore. If you believe this won't be passed on to the middle and lower class, get real.
While Obama may have signed over 1.5 trillion in cuts the CBO shows that over the next 10 years The so called affordable health care bill will cost 1.76 trillion wiping out those cuts, or maybe these cuts were just to make room for obama care, also the idea that more taxes could be brought in by taxing the wealth won't pan out because the rich have all their money in Trusts that are non taxable and income in securities which are non taxable. The only ones that Obama's plan will hit are the small business owner who are classified as Sub-Chapter S corporations which means all of the income for their companies fall through them. and after all the costs of running the business, these owners usually only come out with a 5% profit which after Federal state and local taxes amounting to about 45%, they are only left with 3% that they need to use for them selves as well as for putting back in the company for equity for such things as hiring new workers. If Obama gets what he wants that will wipe out that 3% forcing the small business owners to either go out of business putting all their workers out of work, or laying off some works to recoup that 3% lost to Obama. Either way it ends up cutting revenue due to less people working. And in the mean time I do not see Obama's income or any of the other Socialist Democrat leaders income shrinking. On the contrary their incomes are ballooning from all the parties they are throwing. Party of the people, Right! give me a break.
LOL IR
If Obama has already signed 1.5 trillion in spending cuts, why would he demand that he'd be allowed to raise the debt limit without Congressional approval? If you are cutting spending, and are looking to increase taxes, the last thing to be concerned about is raising debt levels.
Hey John McCain, Scott Brown is a liar.
Boston Globe:
As a member of the Massachusetts National Guard, Scott Brown spent two weeks in Afghanistan in 2011 as part of his voluntary guard training. That time may have given him a better sense of the war effort, but he did not face the Taliban. So he was wrong to state, in last week’s debate against challenger Elizabeth
Warren, that he “served in Afghanistan.”
It might have been excused as a slip of the tongue, except that Brown himself has sought to make it a crime to exaggerate claims of military service.
Earlier this year, the Supreme Court ruled against the 2006 Stolen Valor Act, which made it a crime to lie about military awards or service. The court said the act was too broadly written, and infringed on free-speech rights. At the same time, the justices suggested that a more carefully crafted statute would pass constitutional muster. So Brown introduced, last month, a law that would penalize the “faux-fighter” who lies to “obtain money, property, or other tangible benefit.” The purpose is to protect those who have sacrificed, and penalize those who would use war to buttress their resumes.
Whether or not one thinks it should be a crime to lie about time in the military, Brown is surely right that exaggerating the extent of one’s service is an insult to those who put their lives on the line. Brown’s words may have been technically accurate — he did, in fact, spend a brief time in Afghanistan — but they gave the impression that he was a combat veteran. Candidate Brown should clarify his statement out of respect for those who have fought there. Senator Brown would probably agree.
Hey John McCain, Condoleeza Rice is a liar:
John McCain supported Condoleeza Rice who misled the public on WMD, causing thousands to die, but now attacks Susan Rice.
Hey John McCain, Sarah Palin was and will always be stupid.
Hey John McCain, you’re a liar and a man with zero judgment capabilities.
NY Times: A day after members of an American Congressional delegation led by Senator John McCain
pointed to their brief visit to Baghdad’s central market as evidence that the new security plan for the city was working, the merchants there were incredulous about the Americans’ conclusions.
“What are they talking about?” Ali Jassim Faiyad, the owner of an electrical appliances shop in the market, said Monday. “The security procedures were abnormal!”
The delegation arrived at the market, which is called Shorja, on Sunday with more than 100 soldiers in armored Humvees — the equivalent of an entire company — and attack helicopters circled overhead, a senior American military official in Baghdad said. The soldiers redirected traffic from the area and restricted access to the Americans, witnesses said, and sharpshooters were posted on the roofs. The congressmen wore bulletproof vests throughout their hour long visit.
It is so sad to watch John McCain become more and more bitter as time goes by. I would have hoped for some healing for him but it seems as if the opposite is happening. He has no credibility left--why the media continues to give him access to spew his hatred and negativity is beyond me.
Steeler, I think the reason why the media continues to give him access is because they have become entertainment. People lie constantly on MTP, yet Susan Rice gets called out - who btw didn't lie.
Inaugeration Tidbit: George Washington had to borrow money to attend his own inaugeration. Because of his false teeth, his speech only took 90 seconds to read.
Steeler Fan, I can not agree more. I have never liked his politics, but he was a hero in my eyes, now he has reduced himself to a hateful old fool.
Pat, terrific post.
I think it was 2009 when John McCain met with Khadafy, he discussed giving arms to the dictator responsible for killing thousands of his own people as well as the bomb which destroyed a plane killing innocent travellers over Locherby (sp). McCain praised Khadafy. Odd, how McCain's judgement is not questioned.
McCain has been on Sunday talk shows 21 times so far this year; about every other week. When will the Sunday hosts decide to stop inviting him because he hasn't been relevant, and has shown incredibly poor judgement and even worse character for at least a decade?
He was never a hero in my eyes. But as a Viet Nam Vet myself, I always gave him the benefit of the doubt and respected him--anyone who endured what he went through in a North Vietnamese prison and refused to be broken deserves respect.
But just as trust can be eroded, so can respect. His downhill slide began not only with his selection of Sarah Palin, but in his continued, professed admiration for her.
And now with Benghazi. . . .
He is a shell of who he was, an old man struggling to reclaim a measure of relevance. He should step down and retire to one of his seven homes.
Steeler Fan, so true. It is really sad to watch McCain; he's become an increasingly bitter, angry man who doesn't even respect himself.
Jack, well said.
Jody, I never forgave McCain for meeting with Khadafy. Never. His judgment has really been so wrong on so many important fronts.
Jack, I love to read books about elder statesmen who served in the public for their entire careers, and end their careers with a tremendous amount of dignity, particularly pertaining to their perspectives on where they erred in judgment throughout their career. That's really when you learn the most about people.
John McCain will never be that.
Mitt lost because Mitt lied.
Mitt flip flopped on almost every issue, so people never knew what his real stances were.
Mitt wouldn't show his tax returns, thinking that no one cared if he showed them or not.
Mitt wouldn't believe the polls, so he didn't make adjustments in his campaigning to boost his numbers.
Mitt can only blame Mitt for losing the election.
Will Stu Stevens remain as defiant today at Harvard? Or, will he sober up? Sheesh!!
Stu Stevens is merely saying what the Repubs all think - that money and race determine legitimacy. Its what they and all the talking heads don't get - and what the President has been saying since at least 2007 - the voters are Americans. Not Latinos, blacks, single white women, etc. The people that voted for the President ARE this country.
And BTW, also loved the whole Romney-lost-because-he's-a-white-guy thing. Stevens and Bill O'Reilly should commiserate with each other about the demise of the the Leave It To Beaver society.
The Leave It To Beaver Society! Loved it! That was the Republicans' biggest problem. They keep coming off like creepy Eddie Haskell!
And yet there is no race card being played by the right. Just ask talk to the hand and other deniers.
For all the talk of the "constituencies" that rallied to Obama, it was the swing voters that made the difference. And the bat crap crazy factor swung them. The "He's a Kenyan, He's a muslim, He's secretly plotting to destroy America." The hatred and the demonization. While Most of the GOP leadership didn't spout this, they refused to class up and refute it. So they got tarred with it. I know a few independents who couldn't take anything the GOP had to say seriously because of this factor.
Without saying why Obama won (and he did so, soundly), the reason that the "winnable" candidate Romney lost:
He played political party too much. He forgot about the people, it was all about the party and the party lines.
He and his fellow republicans bragged on their obstructionism. It was sickening. Four good working years (for the whole of the country) were wasted on this "policy." Unfortunately, we may be looking at another four just like the previous.
He and his party have no clue about women and what is important to us. His party line proved to be more threatening than supportive. Women don't like threats, we like security, and Romney failed to communicate that.
He disrespected the 47% by making fun of "us" at his fundraiser. How can we believe in someone who mocks us?
He played on his religion too much, as well as many of his supporters and other minor candidates. Few of us believe the same way he does, and his religion has no place in running our country. We want a moral person, we don't particularly want their religion.
Catering to the corporate mindset proved divisive. Most Americans are very watchful of how big is too big, and what will "too big" take from our pockets. The big corporate bodies did not hide their disdain of the working poor (or non-working poor because of outsourcing.) Working or not, we still get to vote.
The Tea Party became a joke. The educational ignorance of Tea Party candidates was so astounding that whiplash departments were being set up all over the place. ("I can't believe he said/lied about that." "The earth is only 6,000 years old?" Yeah, right. 'Women can enjoy rape.' Puhleeeze. 'Iran needs Syria as a route to the sea.' Grade school geography anyone? These sound bites alone are enough to lose the whole ball of wax--and may very well have.)
The legislating of social values should be no part of any campaign. Whether one is of a different race, gender, religion, ethnic heritage, etc. should be no part of politics. Why on earth did the Republicans ever embrace such stances? FAIL.
The constant battering of the current president: birthers, religionists, bigots, separatists, racists gathered on the Republican side of the fence. (Not all were of this ilk; the majority of those who are, did).
I'm sure others can find more points to ponder, but these are some of the major talking points that caused the candidate Romney to fail in his bid for office. So if anyone has any fingerpointing to do, I would suggest that they start looking in their mirror first. Obama won, but the Republicans/Romney destroyed themselves.
Nice post RTFS. Nailed it.
It is not surprising to me at all that Romney lost. I would have been surprised had he won. It does surprise me that they all thought they were going to win. I think he lost because of who is he. He had to move far to the right with Ryan to satisfy his own party and he never could get back to the middle because of things he and others said. Like it or not, believe in it or not, the American public is not where conservatives are politically. If there was a way to alienate any group they seemed to find it. What's more they did it voluntarily.
Ron Brock, so true. But if that's not where Romney was comfortably, he has no one to blame but himself. He after all was the candidate and he should have been more forceful in removing himself from the far right.
It's really amusing to see these grown up men who desire to be world leaders, yet can't seem to stand up to Rush Limbaugh and Grover Norquist.
That ain't leadership but they didn't figure it out until it was too late.
Romney lost because the USA has become a country where majority depends on welfare and Obama is the king of welfare. How can anyone win US election by asking people to work hard and be contributing member of the society? Those folks are in China and India.
Actually Shyam, those people are in the Senate and House right here in America.
Sjhyam - are you still beating that dead horse? Even Republican leaders have admitted that those who claim what you are couldn't be more wrong - or idiotic (okay, I added the idiotic).
Romney lost because he stands for nothing and the Republican party stands for politics of 100 years ago. They haven't moved into the 21st century. They still believe that women are theirs to command; that minorities have no place; and that they are in control of everyone and everything. When the Republican party decides to grow up, they may have value - but not until then.
Look at Agenda 21,the UN is getting this established everywhere, look at your city planning, investigate this its very real and soon we will be treated as animals, but ya probley don't want to bother with reality like that its too scary.
Ster, if you run out of tinfoil I can loan you some...
Latinos, blacks and women elected a third rate man as President. He will be a worthless figure-head of a stupid country.
Shyam
The implication in your statement is that these folks who voted for the President are worthless and stupid. I do believe that your are marching to your own oblivion ... how's the Band?
Shyam, I'm a woman and I know I didn't elect a third rate man as our president.
Amazing that people still disrespect intelligence, hard work and tenacity. You can thank the GOP for that.
Shyam, I corrected all of your mistakes for you.
You're welcome!
If you don't like it pack your ass up and go back where you came from!
Shyam: You forgot educated white men. For your own good drop your racist hate.
Obama won in large part thanks to the rejection of mindless hatred that people like Shyam shout from the rooftops. Thank you Shyam, and all your brain dead, hate driven, craven peers for making it possible.
Shyam - the only third rate individual here is you - and that may be giving you credit you don't deserve. OUr President is intelligent; has class; and is a great leader as well as a great man. You are NONE of those!
So, Shyam, you're saying that a bunch of minorities banded together to become a majority and elect a President? People working together for a common goal? Hooray! Isn't that the American dream exemplified? Isn't that what we stand for?
shyam: How could you possibly rate another person from your, uh, 'perspective'?
Kudos to SCOTUS for refusing to take up the freedom to videotape bad cops doing bad things and thus upholding the Lower Court's ruling. Sorry bad cops, but people are watching and taping.
Cannot wait for this "do nothing "Congress to fade into the sunset.
And the pressure is on for Reid to reform the filibuster rule to bring the Senate back from its self imposed death walk.
http://www.nytimes.com/2012/11/29/opinion/collins-Happy-Talking.html?ref=filibustersanddebatecurbs
Seems many "old bulls" including some Dems need to be shown a better way to operate for the good of the country.
I give it a 51% chance of a rule change on Day One of the new session in Jan 2013.
... fade into the sunset
Great choice of words Northstar.
51% seems about right. Senator Reid has had enough and I don't think the new Senators coming in are going to take any crap from McConnell or McCain.
Northstar---I really hope the Democrats do filibuster reform. For a start they could make the other side actually HAVE THE FILIBUSTER. Let them be shown on C Span and other media. The Founding Fathers didn't intend that every bill that passes the Senate have 60 votes so why do we let this arcane practice continue?
They need to do away with "The hold" as well.
The "Old Bulls" need to be shown the door.
You liberals think your comments are so edgy and cool; I guess its easy for you to make fun of Mitt Romney who even Obama said was a great man. All you do is show how small your minds really are. I surmise most of you are miserable failures from any of societies benchmarks so you get your kicks out of tearing down an honorable man.
Chris, I never thought Romney was an honorable man. Anyone who marches for a draft and then doesn't serve is not honorable. So no, that's not a word I would use to describe him.
Pat, we've had a few Presidents or people who wanted to be President who were draft dodgers/ deferrment specialists Mitt isn't anything new.
1SGFitzs, I'm not speaking of draft dodgers. There is nothing wrong with being against a war you don't believe in.
I do have a problem with people who march for a draft though and then don't serve themselves.
1SGFitzsWife---I think Pat's point is that Mitt supported the war and the draft but did not serve himself. Nor have any of Mitt's 5 sons ever served their country (except as Mitt famously said, to try to elect Mitt). Mitt took the religious deferment and later published photos of himself writing love notes to Ann in the sandy beaches of southern France. "Honorable" is not the word that comes to mind.
Obama was being polite if he described Romney as a "great man".
I'm happy they are having lunch so that we can put Romney BEHIND us. It's obvious that Romney is "not one of us", meaning that he hasn't clue one what a REAL American is.
Stu Stevens is a perfect example of too many Republicans (especially those here on Newsvine) that can't accept the truth and are poor losers and hypocrites. Any excuse to avoid the truth will do if it supports their cause.
Yes, the country is not moving along. It's called stagnation. Get used to it, it's the new normal. Welcome to the Obamaonomy.
Ever hear of gridlock? Obama didn't invent it. Been going on for years.
GDP is moving upwards, consumer confidence is moving upwards, the stock market is moving upwards ... oh never mind!
The National Debt is moving UPWARDS ! Forward !! ... the Progressives say, over the fiscal cliff.
This guy knows full well that President Obama did not win because solely because "black and poor people voted overwhelmingly for him" as much as Romney knows that he did not win because he promised the most Government handouts. They put that out there so that a portion of their base doesnt get frustrated and stay home next election. He is basically telling them what they want to hear so that they dont lose faith in the GOP's ability to win.
Feeding the hatred, if you will. GOP thinks so little of their base.
If Obama won because poor people voted for him then he would have carried EVERY southern state as they have the largest concentrations of poor people per capita and the largest percentage of their populations on government assistance. So right there he has been proven a liar but what else is new when it comes to republicans.
Until Republicans can look inward to see why we lost, there will be a repeat in 2016. To blame this group and that group is petty and serves no real purpose but to further alienate these groups. Here is an idea: reach out, articulate to people making less that 50K why your ideas, plans, purpose, pursuits are better- instead of deriding others, make your argument how conservative idea work, how capitalism has lifted more people out of poverty than any other system. Everyone wants to do better in life, explain how your ideas can make thier life better- heck forget about staying glued at the hip to the 1% they are not going anywhere they will be fine. Just my thoughts
Quite possibly the first time I have 100% agreed with you Celtic 1. You absolutely nailed it.
Good .let's go get a Guinness and solve this thing - I'll buy!
Get a job, create something and get off social meme boards and contribute something to society.
I have a job, and in fact a company. - I employ 20 people Don, so I am doing my best to contribute, Cappy and I are trying to help the beer industry - ligthen up, its the Christmas season.
The purely capitalistic model has totally failed this country on numerous occasions.
That is correct, because Human nature being what it is ,unchecked Capitalism can lead to greed , a small % of people making a fortune many more - well not so much. This in my view leads to what we had on Wall Street. , some Govt is needed to regulate etc... but not to where you reach Socialism this holds people down and does not allow them to achieve all they are capable of.
That all sounds great, Celtic 1, but four things stand out about this election.
The GOP spent a lot of time and money pushing issues of little substance or validity to get a visceral reaction from the targeted base. That's a nice way of "putting" the abuse and lies they piled on POTUS for the last four years. It also energized the democratic base that had been relatively quiet.
Their numbers didn't add up. That reeks of "Trust me, my Wall Street friends are great money mangers".
The economy, outlook, and confidence is much better than the situation we faced starting in 2006, answering the question of whether we are "better off".
Romney knew his poll numbers were wrong, didn't run a efficient, broad-based campaign, and failed to pick an effective choice for VP.
Um yea I agree somewhat- GOP ran a poor campaign - taking a hard line on social issues cost them, they were outmanoeuvred by the narrative the Democrats put forth. Personally I would not trust a broker on Wall Street any further that I could throw my desk, I invest to be sure- but these jerks cost us dearly. I disagree on the outlook for the economy, for my small company I am worried about health insurance costs for my employees- I guess I am rare I pay 100% of all health care costs, and I fear I might not be able to if costs raise to much. I will not hire additional employees ( I need 2-3) until things are not on such shaky ground, I liked Ryan he is bright, and at least he attempted to address the real and formidable financial nightmare we are headed to. Enjoyed your thoughts
Celtic 1 -
I am with you. I am a partner in a small business with 18 employees. We also pay for 100% of our employees health care.
We are very concerned that we will not longer be able to continue at the rate our premiums have increased year over year.
Its a sad state we are facing today. We are also in need of some additional help however with the unknowns going forward we are somewhat reluctant to add additional costs.
Celtic - first time I've ever voted you up but I did your post #16. I think you missed a little though. People don't want any political party pushing their ideas into their private lives. The GOP totally disrespected women and minorities.
Plus, many Republicans still tried the "scary" tactics against President Obama which showed how low the party has stooped.
I fully believe we need a good two party system but I refuse to believe the Republican party - as it stands today - represents the best our country has to offer as an alternative.
Celtic 1, please stop. I'm really starting to like you. :o)
You know deep down I like you guys too - as an old Bob Dylan goes " we always felt the same, we just saw it from a different point of view" (Tangled up in Blue) You guys have a good day!
Celtic... I agree with some of the others that you totally nailed it in post #16...although I don't ususlly agree with you... Keep up the good thoughts though..
Seeking -
The GOP totally disrespected women and minorities.
Funny, I'm a minority, I didn't feel "disrespected". I know many other minorities and women that voted for Romney. I don't believe they felt "disrespected". I know for a fact my wife votes for Romney, she never said she was disrespected. Maybe you felt he disrespected you and your opinions and that's totally fine, but do you speak for all women and all minorities?
Plus, many Republicans still tried the "scary" tactics against President Obama which showed how low the party has stooped.
Wow, if you can't admit that BOTH side play this game then you are just not being honest. I love when one side accuses the other side of something they ALL do.
E. Deboo, those rates were going up BEFORE Obamacare, which you should be aware of. Obamacare, on the other hand, does provide for things that we all should be able to rely on. If you do, indeed, pay 100% for your employees, good for you. However, I am skeptical of those that say they have businesses on these boards, as many of them appear to not only not have businesses but also appear to not have gainful employment of any kind (all while they attack others for not being employed, even though they have no idea whether those other people are employed or not). Perhaps you actually do employ others, but, again, you should be aware that insurance rates have been escalating for years, even before Obama took office. With any luck at all, Obamacare will help put an end to the incessant rise in premiums, as opposed to the current trend.
Left Wing -
I never once even mentioned or blamed Obamacare. Our rates WERE going up before then as well. I was speaking about the uncertainty ahead for many small business owners.
I'm sure many pretend to do things they don't. You can google my name, I have nothing to hide. Erach Deboo.
There are many unknowns for 2013...the looming "fiscal cliff"...we can't factor in new operating cost for 2013...so until we have a better idea, business owners are going to be cautious when adding new costs. Its just a fact.
Hey Hey, Obama 2016! Wait, where's my calculator?
No matter how you slice or dice it, a majority of clear-thinking Americans did not want Mitt Romney and the Republicans in the White House...End of story!
That's true! Fox news was a hoot on election night. Like a bunch of 5 year olds whining because they lost and making every excuse in the book.
Republican are led by evangelicals and fat cat white men who have now realized that they can't swing a majority. They are out of touch and 2016 will show that once again.
Dunno that it was Fox News quite so much as it was Karl Rove. I made one of my rare channel surfs to Fox News at about the time they called the election for Obama. Rove was damn near apoplectic! the rest of the newscasters were telling him it was over.
Rah1: Republicans know that but I'm seriously wondering about Democrats. Based on the comments here you sound like your still campaigning for Obama. He won, remember?
Yeah, we remember...do the Republicans? It would appear not.
The majority of America depends on welfare? Where did you come up with those numbers Einstein?
"Where did you come up with those numbers Einstein?"
my republican wife, who makes about $65k voted for Obama. Why? Because the republican party is out of touch with the MAJORITY of americans. Im white, making 70k...and democrat.
Their excuses fail to recognize how out of touch they are with the majority of this country. They continue to play the race card. In the words of Daniel Carver...wake up white people - in this case, the GOP.
Over at the Obama Diary they show pictures of the incoming chairmen of the House's 19 committees---you guessed it, 19 middle-aged white males. I can understand why the 1% support the Republicans but it is hard to see why anyone else does.
Steeler Fan,
How many women do the GOP have in their caucus besides Michelle Bachmann?
The Democratic caucus has more women than men for the first time.
I have been doing some reading about social programs since all of this complaining started. I have never been on one until medicare. I still work and pay taxes. Welfare goes to about 6% of the public. Qualifying for food stamps is very difficult and it is not a position anyone would want to be in. Medicaid and Medicare speak for themselves. It is true that some people find a way to cheat welfare but every major city has a DA's office representative to arrest and prosecute those people. The budget breaker is medicare. Older people usually cannot buy health insurance if they have a previous condition and when you get old enough you have plenty of those. I guess death panels are the answer. I am surprised that so many people act like they are gut shot over a 3% increase in their taxes. So many have made the ultimate sacrifice for this country. I wonder if they worried about whether or not someone else was doing their fair share.
The fact you have time to sit the @!$%# around and read about social programs might be the key to understanding how @!$%#ing stupid you sound. Most people who actually work don't have that luxury because they have to work. Try going to work and getting of social boards trying to control a meme. If you feel so generous go ahead and raise the tax you pay in VOLUNTARILY. It was intended to be a voluntary tax anyway, how about you say cover mine as well as your own? Mr. Lovatax
Don Ram, this may come as something of a shock to you, but some of us can read and comprehend at a rate that allows us to read actual books, and still have time to work at our jobs, cook supper, walk the Pugs, shovel the snow- are you getting the picture?
I can easily see that comprehension is a hurdle you haven't yet cleared. It might not be a bad idea for you to try something that's more on your level first. Doesn't Sesame Street have a website? They'll help you with your reading skills AND teach you the basics of good citizenship (don't hit people, raise your hand to speak, etc.).
If all else fails, ask a Liberal neighbor to help you out. We're all fervently pro- education, so I'm sure they'll jump at the chance to give you a hand up.
Peace!
Don Ram
The fact that you're sitting around posting to this message board and attacking people for what they read might be the key to your problem: You're a jerk, and not a very bright one at that.
Don Ram - you show exactly what is wrong with the Republican party and those who support it. Ron made very sensible, concrete comments and all you can do is whine. Grow up!
I love it when somebody posts on "social boards" that others should not waste time posting on "social boards" - but, hey, when you get done with your whining, Don, perhaps you could look up the word hypocrite.
"Most people who actually work don't have that luxury because they have to work."
What you have just done Don is explain why people like you are gullible enough to believe the lies put out by likes Limbaugh the junkie and Fox. If not for uninformed people like you, they wouldn't exist.
Headline Friday, November 30th 2012: "Romney to become Economy Secretary"
Caption - "Obama admits Romney's plan for economy would generate more goverment revenue..."
First Read's Analysis - "Makes sense because Romney would actually get more people back to work..."
Actually, I heard Obama was going to offer him the ambassadorship to the Cayman Islands...
So the Republicans lost because the candidate was dull and did not connect with the poor, despite also raising 1 Billion dollars. 2016 will tell
Don't know what the President will be eating but I'd guess Romney will be eating Crow!
How relevant is some aristocrat from Harvards'sview toward unemployment or employment when they never worked a day in their life? Really, doubtful you have ever created anything much less had to pay bill.
Stop pontificating and get a job.
Don, Don, DON- your bitterness is going to eat you alive, dude. Haven't you ever heard the saying that carrying a grudge is like eating poison in the hope that the other guy will die of it?
You certainly seem to have everybody in the world figured out Neat trick, homes, for a guy who implicitly admits he doesn't read.
Come on- the best you can come up with is "Stop pontificating and get a job."? Is that really your best shot? Tell you what- go over to Rachel Maddow's website (since you've got the day off from your undoubtedly highly influential and extremely well paying JOB)and read for a bit until you see something really clever- that's assuming you'd recognize real wit if you saw it. (If not, ask that Liberal neighbor to look over your shoulder.)
Found a 20-megaton zinger? Good on ya! Now, just rewrite it a little bit so it looks like you ranting about Liberals, and Presto! You're arguing in the Grown-Up Leagues now! Hey, Bill O'Reilly has made a whole career out of the method I just subscribed- if it'll work for an idiot like him, I'm sure a deep thinker like you will be scoring all over the place in no time, and by next week all of us pesky Progressives will be too ashamed of ourselves to come out and risk being blinded by the glare of your stupendousness!
Peace!
Job1: Still campaigning for Obama?? Your guy won, remember?
Bravo Fox lol
Hey, Believe, when you're done posting this nonsense over and over again, could you remind your Republican heros that Obama won? Thank you.
