Obama, Romney to meet for lunch Thursday

After a long and -- at times -- contentious campaign, President Obama and Mitt Romney sit down together for lunch at the White House on Thursday. NBC's Brian Williams reports.

President Obama and the man he defeated in the 2012 presidential contest -- Republican Mitt Romney -- will have lunch Thursday at the White House, Obama's press secretary announced.

It will be the first meeting since the election's end.

The White House said there will be no press coverage of the meeting.

Assinine liberals still have the same moronic mentality and still the problem, instead of the solution. America that was a great nation has gone to the wayside compared to other countries. It has really changed compared to 20 or 30 years ago. Just because Obama won the election, doesn't mean you Socialist liberals know more than the rest of us. It just means there is less common sense and a lot of unrealistic delusional people in the country. Obama won due to being a LIAR and running a trashy campaign. It doesn't matter anymore about QUALIFICATIONS compared to the best BULLSHI--ER in politics. You liberals took it hook, line and sinker!

Fuzzy,I don't think your candidates were all that qualified. After all they could not even carry thier own states, not alone a majority. There will be a democrat in the white house until republicans can come up with someone better than Romney,McCain,Palin,Newt,Bachmann, not a very impressive list your trying to sell the American people.

Bob I totally agree with you except, this is true for the democrats as well. We saw that Obama has Nothing to account for except, he is already the president and nothing was accomplished for the good of the country. We had to pick the best of the worst. Both parties could have had a better selection than what we had. Neither Obama or Romney are ideal candidates. We the American people are the ones that suffer due to the poor government we have representing us.

Not true. I voted for the guy who signed the Lily Ledbetter Fair Pay Act instead of the guy who would repeal it.

I voted for the guy who saved GM and Chrysler instead of the guy who encouraged us to let them be dissolved in bankruptcy.

I voted for the guy who wound down the war in Iraq and pledges to do the same in Afghanistan instead of the guy who wanted to continue fighting never-ending wars in godforsaken sand boxes.

I voted for the guy who expanded the availability of student loans and Pell Grants instead of the guy who said "get a loan from your parents."

I voted for the guy who made a politically risky call to go get bin Laden.

I voted for the guy who fought Republicans for almost a year to get the Affordable Care Act instead of the guy who imagined he'd have the ability to "repeal it on day 1."

I voted for the guy who was smart enough to give Elizabeth Warren the job of setting up the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau instead of the guy who thinks the economy crashed in 2007 because there was too much regulation.

I didn't vote against anyone, nor did I vote for the lesser of two evils. I VOTED FOR BARACK OBAMA, DULY ELECTED PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES.

I really don't see the point of the luncheon, unless it's like the socialite who invites all her friends over to show off her new house. Mitt's ideas are warmed over Bushism, and we all know where that got us.

It seems that even after 4 years, the socialist liberals have nothing better to do or nothing original than to blame Bush for even Obama's lack of knowledge, experience, character, class, LEADERSHIP, performance and everything it takes to be a leader or manager. It is truly pitiful these people can't come up with a single idea to help America out of the problems we have. All they know how to do, is blame everyone else for their misfortunes and are part of the problem. All of us make mistakes and we will continue too. But I have yet in 4 years heard of ONE(1) mistake that the President and the democrats have lived up too. They are always with their lost sheep blaming EVERYTHING on Bush, Chaney and the GOP. This is for sure a unrealistic delusional mentality to live with. It is not even funny but truly sad. Both the republicans and democrats have screwed up, but instead of finding a joint solution they blame each other. When everything is said and done, we the people are the losers not the politicians. They are partying together on our money and laughing at us. They have it made in life til they die. Even if they screw up, they collect their pension and move on. Who loses? They don't! We the people do! The so called politicians are suppose to be working for us, but they are working for themselves. We need to elect ALL NEW politicians and get rid of the old timers that continue to screw us. Until everyone works together and accepts RESPONSIBILITY, we will continue to move BACKWARDS. We are heading towards a third world country. BELIEVE IT OR NOT!!!

What is the purpose of the lunc meeting between these two guys?

I am only guessing here, so here are my guesses.

              1) Obama wants to see if he can work with Romney to bring the corporate interests on board and is trying to see if Romney cares more about helping the country than his desire to get even, as the cranky old bastard McCain is now doing.

              OR

              2) Remember Romney trying to make a bet with Perry during the primaries? Maybe these two had a bet and Obama is collecting.

Obama should remind him that since he does not pay his fair share of taxes he falls into the 47% catagory that Obama doesn't have to deal with.

Obama and Romney -- birds of a feather, both bought and paid for by the ultra-rich and big business.

I agree with you on one thing, I'm surprised there are so many stupid people in the United States.

I also understand the correct usage of "surprise" vs "surprised."
