President Obama and the man he defeated in the 2012 presidential contest -- Republican Mitt Romney -- will have lunch Thursday at the White House, Obama's press secretary announced.
It will be the first meeting since the election's end.
The White House said there will be no press coverage of the meeting.

Suspected Mormon Con Artist Pleading Guilty to $78M Scam
Daren Palmer, the head of an Idaho firm known as the Trigon
Group, has agreed to plead guilty to operating a $78 million Ponzi scheme that
allegedly scammed fellow Mormons – including friends, neighbors and relatives –
in a classic case of affinity fraud, The New York Times reported.
According to government prosecutors, the Times said, Palmer raised more
than $20 million by promising investors generous double-digit returns and then
misappropriated their funds instead. He stands accused of swindling parents of
children he coached in football, the newspaper said, and even his own father
and brother-in-law along the way. He allegedly targeted members of his Mormon church,
the Times explained, launching construction on a $3 million luxury home
across the street from the temple (unfinished and now for sale) “so that people
would see it and give him more money.” Trigon has since been placed into
receivership, the Times said, with its disgraced leader now facing up to
30 years in prison as punishment for his crimes.
Rub it in Obama.. Let him have some of that gift. Yup!! As that fool Romney said, like you gave my kid who is on my insurance plan that I am paying for and reduced interest rates on students loans. The whole course appetizers, main course and dessert all all billed to tax payers. Now his one of us moochers.
Just remind him that, because of his disdain for and condescending attitude towards hardworking, patriotic Americans he never gets to reside in the White House and rule these United States.

Here you have a business man who has been successful at virtually every business adventure he has attempted and Obozo who has accomplished absolutely nothing short of supporting the lazy no goods that think they are owed something for nothing. Yes Obozo was reelected but look at the majority of people who voted for him. They can't tell you what party Obozo is affiliated with, who his vice president is, what the branches of government are, how many there are, who the speaker of the house is or even what countries and bodies of water boarder the USA. And oh yeah. Obozo just stated today that "Mitt Romney has some very good things to offer such as his taking the Olympics and saving them". I don't blame Obama. The danger to America is not Barack Obama, but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the Presidency. It will be far easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails America . Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The Republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, 'merely a fool'. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools, such as those who made him their President

If Romney had any understanding of how the federal government works or how to fix the economy, he has done an excellent job of hiding this for the past 18 months. Alone with his tax returns. I heard that Obama wants to explain to him why the windows in a jet airplane don't roll down.

BTW - Obama won by large margins in the top 10 states in education. Romney won if all of the bottom 10 states in education except Nevada. The point is that the people who elected Obama are a lot smarter than you are so just go with it Fuzzy.

I'm sure you'd be happy to take another pay cut while managment gives themselves another raise. Maybe, they should have just taken minmum wage, right? I guess you're ok with WalMart paying it's non-union employees wages that equate the with the Federal Poverty level. Of course, you know all those people working full time at WalMart receive food stamps. They decided to take a little less, so are you angry with WalMart? I mean after all, you the taxpayer is subsidizing their payroll with Food Stamps. If you had been keeping up with the Hostess situation, this was in the news last week. Hostess said they would keep the doors open if the union bakers agreed to a 8% decrease in compensation. It doesn't matter what the management has taken. They are willing to keep the doors open for a 8% decrease. That is all the union should worry about. It is not like the unions and citizens have much say so now a days with the available jobs and the economy dwindling down and down. You liberals are for sure the DESTRUCTION of what use to be the Greatest nation in the world. Not anymore. We are seeing how smart you Socialist liberals are with companies already planning the cut backs, layoffs, and some even closing the doors early next year. You libs are not so smart when it comes to common sense.
Modern morals: When the President climbs out the mensroom window and leaves the Governor with the check, people at the restaurant will say the President is in great condition and the Governor can afford it.

When Democrats start to cut government services, socialists will demand general strikes and anarchists will jump in just to enjoy the violence. Will our post-racial community accept these cuts because Obama is more of a symbol than he is a President? The government can't have unlimited borrowing and spending. Past a certain limit of taxation, international capital leaves the country. That leaves us with government cuts, and if Obama cuts farm subsidies and corporate deductions, the results are massive layoffs in the Red states his party condemns. There are already massive layoffs in the Blue states his party mismanages.
Wow, anytime I start to think that the U.S. can move forward and fix some of the problems that will eventually lead to us no longer being the lone superpower, well I show up here and I start to see that those living in the bubble are still around and dumb as ever. Here's a few simple facts, FACTS. President Obama holds a post doctorate degree from Havard. No matter what you redneck, backwards, idiots wanna pretend about your 6th grade education, graduating from Havard places you in an extremely elite class of educated individuals in the world. Another you're not bright enough to realize that YOU are the 47% that Romney was talking about. Although in your small little world you would like to believe that you're the only one that works for a living and that all the people you think aren't paying income tax are a bunch of lazy no good and probably minority bums, they're not. He is referring to you. I won't waste time attempting to explain to you the tax code because you likely would not understand it. So quit believing stupid lies that you hear from idiots on Fox. My marginal tax rate is 28%, plus currently 5.65% for my portion of payroll taxes, PLUS 7.65% for myself and my employees, since I am actually a job creator. I can't remember my exact effective tax rate but it is far above the 12% to 13% people like Romney pay. Why? Do I not work as hard for my wages? Do I use more government services than people making 20 million per year? Of course not. It is simply ridiculous that that the top 1% pays far less than middle class Americans. Now take a little history lesson and you will learn that the top tax rates are far lower than they have been in perhaps 75 years. And that our economy has experienced more growth and more expansion of the middle class under the higher rates. It fascinates me how the Republicans have convinced a huge group of people to agitate in favor of their own enslavement. Please open your eyes to the reality, quit believing your own prejudices and ignorance that you are the only one who works for a living and that it is people on food stamps or in need of a safety net that are responsible for our deficit and government spending. Because it's just not the case.

Jim, I wish I could agree with you. If I believed it was genetic, I could be more forgiving. But being a 41 year old white guy from Alabama myself, I truly believe it's a simple lack of education and that hurts all of us.
I'm kind of stuck on the genetic thing. I am the product of a mixed marriage. My father was a republican and my mother was a democrat. Both followed the pattern perfectly. They had 3 kids. One republican and 2 democrats. My older brother (republican) followed the pattern. No feelings or emotions except as things affected him. Cared about nothing but money. And, he has made a lot of money but what a miserable person. Everyone in my family has at least made it though 4 years of college and I think we are all moderately smart. I would agree that low IQ is the problem with most of the right wing but there are some very smart republicans. But when you add the missing human traits to a low IQ, you get the right wing crazies.
One thing I pay attention to is how people treat their pets. Without talking about politics at all, I can tell you with at least 80% certainty if they are a republican or democrat. I have actually never been wrong but let's say 80%. Example - a client had a 15 year old golden retriever who was pretty sick. He decided that it was time to have the dog euthanized. He got this dog when it was about 10 weeks old. He dropped the dog off at the vet's office and went home to have dinner. Another example - a neighbor got a siberian husky. The dog lived in a crate in his garage. I asked him why and he said that when the dog comes in the house, he gets too crazy. I told him that it was because he get no exercise and is bored to death. I told him to walk the dog and gave him some training tips. The dog stayed in the garage until they moved. He didn’t care that he was torturing that dog.

And for all the Limbaugh, Hannity, O'Reilly geniuses screaming socialism and communism, a two or three percent increase in marginal rates for incomes over 250K does not equal communism or even socialism. And I suspect the reason you do not know this is because you never made over six figures and had enough sense to realize that even under your supposed beloved St. Reagan marginal tax rates were as high as 69.6% and even when they were lowered were only dropped to 50%. Therefore, if Obama is a socialist for wanting rates to be 39.6%, then Reagan was most certainly a communist for having rates from 50% to 70%. Really, could you guys just pick up a book or something? I promise, all that crazy "book learnin'" ain't gonna hurt you. Well, it might make you a little ashamed when you find how out that some people have been taking advantage of your stupidity.

I think this will be the only time that I will have to poke fun at my President, Obama. I’m not
exactly sure what he expects to accomplish from this meeting. I think President Obama is suffering from
Romnesia. I’m not sure exactly what the true definition of Romnesia is, but during the elections, I was under theimpression that it was affectionately named after Romney’s mental lapses. Now it appears that that is partially true. I think there is an affectionate part of that was “I miss you” . I think President Obama forgot that Mitt was an idiot and I think he actually misses Mitt. Not to be confused with sympathy.
I hope the cure for Romnesia is not an enema. The republicans tried that to clean out the brown matter in their party so they can have an all-white-male colon, but that darn brown matter just keeps coming back to haunt them. Maybe they just do that because it feels good…makes them feel powerful.

I am totally upset with Mitt Romney for accepting Obama's "invite". Romney should have called a press conference and stated "I can't imagine why this President would even want to talk to someone he called a BU--SH--ter? Maybe you, the press should go ask him that question." And then if I were Romney I would have turned and walked out. That's EXACTLY what he should have done. Now Obama will parade him around, just like he did John McCain 4 years ago, and then turn around and say none of Romney's ideas were useful. My question to the Republican's is "WHEN THE H-LL ARE YOU GOING TO WISE UP?"

I hate to break it to you Marc, but if you follow Romney campaign, it was 10X worse that anything that came from President Obama. The man flip flopped all the time. Had the republicans actually chosen a moderate candidate, that person would be getting ready to move into the WH right now.
As for the Crow.... if the Republicans continue to ignore women, minorities, gays/lesbians, athiest, etc, they are the onews who are going to be eating crow again in 2014. America is changing, and if the republicants don't change with it, then they will be left behind. Texas, Georgia, and Arizona will soon become swing states... the GOP stronghold in the south will be broken.
Well Romney will get a free lunch on the American Taxpayer. However, since he didn't pay taxes from 1997 to 2007 (gotta love how he used the Mormon Church tax exemption status) he has been getting a free lunch already.

Obama has no reason to be vindictive. I don't know that they really "hate" each other. Lincoln was famous for appointing his political foes to high places. How about Romney for Secretary of State, or Defense, or maybe VA administrator? When your President comes calling, you listen to what he has to say.
Well its about time I have to tell you i did follow both campaign's on a daily basis and I voted for Oboma four years ago and your right America is changing. When you vote someone into office and he does nothing for four years and he gets in for another four years there is something wrong. American people are voting for all the wrong reasons and unless we are all in the middle and look at both sides and not vote parties we will be on the wrong track for ever. America is changing and its to bad they don't pay attention to the real things in life, We are to focused on whats going to hurt our feelings. For instance I was in walmart the other day and i watched this woman walking around through the whole store pushing a cart but she wasn't looking or buying anything, She was just taxiing or playing games on her phone. If we don't get back to reality our society will all go brain dead. And everyone keeps saying that Romney didn't have a plan but neither did or does Oboma o i don't really see the point here
I followed both campaigns too. Romney flip flopped way to much and his right wing attack on our civil rights is what cost him my vote and many others. I believe President Obama has done a fair job at running this country over the last 4 years. I can't agree with everything he has done, but considering the challenge he had.. I am still a supporter. Romney's plan was a bunch of bullet points, Obama has and continues to have a detailed economic plan.
American people are voting for the right reasons (in general), but I do think the public is mis informed quite a bit on the issues. I hope people research and not take what the media gives us as the end all.
Walmart.. I am 100% anti walmart. The way they treat their employees? 70% (or some other higher number) do not get paid enough and have to use the public welfare system to make basic ends meet. Its a disgrace when one of the owners is worth billions but they can't pay their employees a worthy salary.
What I can say.. is America has to put our partisian politics completely aside and compromise for the good of the nation. We have some tough road ahead and that is going to require sharp cuts in all goverment spending. Social programs are not a way of life and those who abuse the system should no longer get it. Corporate/Military welfare programs are no different and its time to stop subsidizing corporations that make record profits. We have to overhaul our tax code and close tax loopholes. Once that is done, we keep our tax code at a reasonable rate for everyone. There should be no reason to raise taxes if we spend on things we really need.
@Marc - While grocery shopping recently, a lady in front of me in line had 3, YES, I SAID THREE, EBT cards. She made the cashier separate her items into 3 purchases and used a different EBT card for each purchase. All the while I was seething................and apparently, she was well known to this particular cashier because after her groceries were loaded, the cashier told her to "be careful driving out there in the snow." Now, she's got 3 EBT cards and a vehicle to drive. I'm certain she has one or two Obama phones too. This country is in desperate need of leadership. We are all doomed.
@Marc - I failed to mention that she had to pay cash for the two 12 packs of beer and carton of cigarettes that she bought. I guess that Obama will be paying for those pretty soon along with giving out gasoline vouchers for those on welfare so they can drive their vehicles around..............shame on this administration.

The election is over. Politics should no longer rear its ugly head. Both President Obama and Mr. Romney are good men with the best interest of our country at heart. Mitt Romney could be an invaluable asset to the President and the President could teach Mitt a thing or two. I hope this lunch will be the start to something productive for our country.
