President Obama and the man he defeated in the 2012 presidential contest -- Republican Mitt Romney -- will have lunch Thursday at the White House, Obama's press secretary announced.
It will be the first meeting since the election's end.
The White House said there will be no press coverage of the meeting.

Please ask Mitt what he thinks about China. Ask him what he thinks about borrowing money from China, give it to the people to spend and stimulate the economy; and they spend the money in Wal-Mart stimulating the economy in China and we need to borrow more from China. Ask him, privately, what he thinks he will do to save America. What if you will borrow the money from his rich friends, let that money end up in China, then, 4 years later, his friends can run USA with all the American money locked up in China. How will he and his friends plan on handling that? Please, our children need to know this badly. Please help us.

Obama has no clue or even a solid plan on how to fix the economy and make the government more efficient. He's not stupid, he's probably going to pick Romney's brain for more detail on his ideas. I wouldn't be surprised if Romney ends up doing some economic/business related coaching from behind the scenes.

I PRAY for our country, I FOUGHT for our country, and it tears me apart to see IT being torn apart by somebody who rejects the basic principles that made it great (God and the Constitution). So John, remember this when the country self-destructs, and then you'll realize that THE CHIEF was right.
I both like and support the President. He would be better off talking to the people that elected him not those that opposed him and in doing so became totally insignificant. As insignificant as a dog on the roof of a car.

His administration apparently tried it that way for the first 4 years and we see how that worked, so lets see if they stick to the same playbook (that the NY Jets seem to be using), or perhaps try something new.

The Chinese and Russians are just laughing their asses off and are flipping a coin to decide who gets the East Coast and who gets the West Coast, once we are done tearing each other apart.

If Obama can get Romney to have his fellow GOP's co-operate, to get our country headed in the right direction, then this meeting, will be of some good. The tax issue, is NOT going to get our country out of the mess it is in. Real jobs, and lots of them, will bring in much needed tax revenue to all of the states, and Government, so they shouldn't need to raise taxes, that are already to high. So, bring the jobs back from overseas.
Cooperation is when BOTH sides work together, not just one capitulating to the wishes of the other. That is domination, and it doesnt work, which is why we have the current stalemate.
With regards to the rest of your post, this is the same thing I have been saying for a few years. It worked under Clinton, so why cant it work now?
Obama is acting like an adult and a man of morals. I wish I could say the same about most of the Republicans, especially McCain and the rest that just can't get over defeat. They've went over the deep end into fantasy land and look like immature idiots and sore losers.

Dear Mr. Colorado, once you have been to war for our country, and captured by the enemy and kept imprisoned for years, and accepted regular beatings rather than give up information......once you have lived on rice and water for years, once you have slept in your own blood lying in a 6 x 6 bamboo cell......and once you have experienced that but once you were released, you chose to stay and continue to serve the country.......well then you can attack Mr. McCain. I guess you're too young to remember what things were like before the EPA.
I remember and still want them gone. Any organization which can create rules and laws at a whim needs to be replaced with a legal Govenrment body. Ours is a nation of laws, created by congress not by some agency with no real legal authority.
Oh my goodness! If one wanted to know the state of our country and it's citizens, just read the comments to this story. This country is as divided as I've seen in my 60 years, it's amazing the animosity shown here. The insults, the name calling, the silly petty comments. What is wrong with us?
I think it's honorable of Obama to want to meet with Romney and pick his brain on economics. After all, he's had meetings with way less successful CEO's than Mitt Romney over the last week or two. Likewise, I think it's honorable of Mitt to put aside what has to be the greatest disappointment of his life and sit down with Barack in the interest of sharing thoughts for the good of the country. It's a good thing on both sides, sitting down, having a business discussion over lunch, hopefully forgetting party for an hour or two and just talking about country.
Maybe the rest of Washington and Capitol Hill will take notice. Sharing ideas and having discussions is a good thing folks! Name calling and mud slinging (from both sides!) is destroying the camraderie of Americans. Where and how will it ever end?
Obama is to blame. Grow up!
It will end with a mandatory military service of at least one year for every citizen upon graduation/ dropping out of highschool. Most Americans today don't know what it means to be American. We, as a people, reject our own history (success as well as failures). Perhaps service would help Americans to take ownership of America's problems. Our way of life is worth serving and protecting.

Soldiers die, security contractors die, and Embassys do get overrun and attacked. It is tragic. Any American loss of life is tragic. But, its not criminal. If somebody lied (you mean, as Bush did about WMDs) if someone failed to see this coming (like Bush with 9/11) its usually because of bad intel. or the decision not to act on it. It is tragic, but unfortunately, its bad judgement, not an impeachable offense.
