And while GOP leaders insist they still don’t want to see taxes go up, the reality of a nation in a debt crisis is forcing some to moderate their opposition to any movement on how much Americans pay to fund their government.”

Scott DesJarlais (R-TN) says he has no plans to step down from Congress despite revelations of multiple affairs and urging a former sexual partner to get an abortion. He told the Knoxville News Sentinel last week: "I am human. I don't think I ever put myself out there to be somebody that was perfect. I put myself out there as somebody who wanted to serve the public… "I will serve as long as the people want me to serve."

Everyone knows that if the bus goes over the cliff it will be because of the Republicans in Congress. All the President has to do is make this abundantly clear.

If the Republicans in Congress do nothing (which they have gotten very good at) tax rates for all Americans will increase AND there will be spending cuts which begin to take place in January.
Since President Obama can't pass the bills to change the tax rates or change the spending, and the Republicans control the House, it will be the Republicans fault for failing to do anything.
Taking the bus over the cliff! Our dysfunctional boys and girls of the congress want to raise taxes. Now isn't this the easy way out of the situation? Has anyone first thought of the waste of taxpayer money in government as a method of driving that bus over the edge? Why not first look at waste and entitlement waste, reduce it then see if taxes need to be raised?
Now didn't the Prez have a panel look into this already? Why did he stonewall the report? Could it be to save his reelection results?

Why are you continuing to push for these obscene gifts to the super rich .Even the P.O.T.U.S. who gave those to the super rich had barely enough nerve to give them and limited the time that they should receive them. This country is in debt up to The top of our heads and yet you minions of those persons want to continue their bribes, sorry I mean gifts. We should also discontinue our attempts to buy other Governments and I mean All of them. Our government should practice another old saying.Charity begins at home. This is even of a greater truth when you can't afford it. Our taxes should be used to secure only the needed benefits and to pay down our debts,although I personally only owe insurance commitments to Home Medical,Autos and,of course food and mortgages. I have borrowed no money from China nor any other foreign country nor have I advocated doing so, Our military should be used exclusively to secure the U.S.A. and our limited support to our political commitments,but not their expansionist aims.

Maxx: kind of tells you how bad the Republicans screwed the economy if the recovery is still taking place four years after it took a major nose dive. So, yes, after 4 years it really is still Bush's fault.

If we are so critical about moving forward over the cliff, where is Obama when all parties need to be sitting and talking? Air Force 1 is really putting on the milage with after-election campaigning.
Every jobs bill proposed by the president has been opposed by the Republicans in Congress so don't claim he has done nothing. It is Congress who is doing the foot dragging and more specifically the Republicans in Congress.
Unfunny girl/Even the attempt by our Pres. to the retiring military to aid them in their hopes for jobs was defeated by the Republicans in their unsuccessful attempt to make him a one term president. If you can condone that you are merely a yes person for them. The Republican Party have moved so far to the right that we are in danger of becoming a one party system, Heaven forbid! As far as all parties needing to compromiss. Our P.O.T.U.S. has gone even beyond what the Democrats and we Liberal Democrats would go in his compromises to the Reps. and their Tea party co horts in his attempts to have them help this country to get out of the economic mess that was never of his doing,to no avail. The Rep/Tea Peas. are still unwilling to compromiss in trying to govern this country and yet people such as you still claim that if our Democratic P.O.T.U.S. would govern as a yes person,despite the votes of the Electorate ,then they might do their jobs. We have defeated the Republican offering for P.O.T.U.S. Get over it and return to being Americans.
