UPDATED 1:30 pm ET: U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton announced from Cairo a cease-fire fire between Israel and Hamas in a deal brokered by Egypt.
Clinton described the crisis as "a critical moment for the region."
The agreement is effective at 2:00 pm ET Wednesday, according to the AP.
President Obama also played a key role. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu agreed to the cease-fire after Obama urged it, Israeli ambassador the U.S. Michael Oren said on MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell Reports.
NBC’s Jim Maceda reports the agreement has two phases – (1) in the short term, a truce to stop the violence in Gaza, and (2) in the long term, to continue negotiations on the thorny issues that have been the underpinnings of tensions.
Israel wants something done about arms smuggling into Gaza and Sinai; Hamas wants a lifting of the six-year blockade. There was no agreement on those issues. The discussions will continue and be monitored by the Egyptians with Clinton also involved.
But NBC's Andy Eckardt reports that in the peace agreement, Israel will guarantee not to assassinate any leaders of Hamas or any other organization, according to Palestinian intelligence sources. Israel and Hamas will also commit to abide to restoring calm on both sides. And, after a few months, Israel will consider to ease the movement for Palestinians.
NBC’s Ali Weinberg reports from the White House that the president spoke to Netanyahu and Egyptian President Morsi.
To Netanyahu, Obama “reiterated his commitment to Israel's security,” according to a readout of their conversation. “The President made clear that no country can be expected to tolerate rocket attacks against civilians."
The readout adds that the president requested Netanyahu work with Egypt and to agree to this cease-fire.
Obama also noted, however, “that Israel maintains the right to defend itself.” And that the U.S. “would use the opportunity offered by a cease-fire to intensify efforts to help Israel address its security needs, especially the issue of the smuggling of weapons and explosives into Gaza.”
That was echoed by Oren on Andrea Mitchell Reports, when he said that Israel "reserves the right to defend itself if Hamas resumes to fire on our citizens."
Obama thanked Morsi for his work and leadership on the cease-fire. The readout also notes that Obama and Morsi "agreed on the importance of working toward a more durable solution."
There were questions as to how Morsi, a member of the Muslim Brotherhood, would handle the situation. Many saw this as a critical first test for the new leader. It appears that despite his sympathies with the Palestinian people, he may be willing to play something of the traditional Egyptian role of trying to maintain peace.
President Obama "welcomed President Morsi's commitment to regional security," according to the White House readout.
NBC’s Andrew Gross reports from the State Department that Secretary Clinton spent 30 minutes with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas in Ramallah today, according to Deputy Spokesman Mark Toner. But Abbas has been largely sidelined in these negotiations with Hamas in control.
Toner said the U.S. still considers Abbas to be "relevant" and that "we will continue to work with him."
Toner added that the onus for the violence falls squarely on Hamas and their rocket attacks and that the firing must stop for there to be peace.
The White House was optimistic there would be at least a cease-fire with someone at the level of Clinton heading to the region.
The fighting has killed more than 140 Palestinians and five Israelis, according to an AP tally.

Hillary for President...2016
Care to bet how long this "truce" will last ?
Friday at best.
Pigotry - I'm with you there - even though the ceasefire won't last. She's still doing well for herself and her future ambitions. And, she's making the effort - now if Israel and Hamas would just realize the killing accomplishes nothing!
Watching the violence between Israel and Gaza, it's hard to understand why we still call the region The Holy Land.
Hi, SeekingSanity.... I hope Hillary has learned a thing or two in the last 4 years... wait... in 2016...Chelsea is old enough to run herself ...so maybe....Chelsea/Hillary 2016...or still Hillary/Chelsea 2016?...but one of the two has to establish a residence away from the other - it's in the constitution.
Hi, blackcatwhitecat
I chuckled...but let's give peace a chance.
Wait until they hear what the NRA has to say about that! LOL
But seriously, a ceasefire is always good news.
Maybe thay should change the spelling and call it the 'holey' land...all those bullet holes... ;)
(You don't have to tell me...I really need to quit making gun jokes.)
...still celebrating here...
Small victories...apparently they agreed on SOMETHING.
"Enjoy the little things in life, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things." - Antonio Smith
Yes I can see it now. A woman whose only job so far has been to work at NBC's Rock Center and her mom. Of course if you think about it, kind of reminds you of Obama/Biden. A rookie and a seasoned old timer. That is the liberal recipe for the highest office in the world? Can I see the menu again please?
Hillary's "Da Man"!!!
Hillary 2016
.
Care to bet how long this "truce" will last ?
Jim -
They'll live in peace and harmony, forever and ever....LMAO....
Talk,
Re. Chelsea Clinton
In 2003 at 23 years old after completing Columbia she joined the consulting firm McKinsey & Company in New York City and went to work for Avenue Capital Group in the fall of 2006. She served as co-chairperson for a fund-raising week for the Clinton Foundation, and serves on the board of the School of American Ballet. In September 2011, she was elected to IAC (InterActiveCorp) board of directors.
PLEASE don't tell us that Sarah and Bristol Palin would be a better team...
I have felt for a long time that if both sides wanted peace in the Middle East, there would be peace.
Says all good as he spreads lies and hate against a whole country of people who he thinks should be dead. If you want people to let go of hate, I suggest you start with yours.
Steeler Fan..I agree...at the moment it seems only 1 sided as to wanting peace (and maybe even that is half hearted). I remember years ago reading in a magazine where it said that trying to negotiate a peace treaty in the Middle East was like trying to nail jello to a wall...how true it still is...
And to all the FR readers...Have a happy and safe Thanksgiving.
Keep in mind that one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter.
Anybody who has the brains to read the history of the area, and the moral fibre to face the truth, will agree with me when I say that there are two indispensible preconditions for the establishment of a lasting and meaningful peace in that unhappy swathe of God's green Earth.
1. The Arab and non-Arab Muslim states must end their state of declared war against Israel, recognize her right to exist (appalling that this is even an issue- I mean, come on!), and open normal diplomatic relations with Jerusalem. These are all official, easily verified steps.
2. The Pan-Arabists must stop teaching their children that the Jews are the source of all evil, suffering, injustice and misery in the world. This is the official line in places like our so-called "ally", Saudi Arabia. Their children are taught in their schools as well as in their homes to fear and hate Jews in a way that eclipses anything I was ever taught about Communism as a boy.
Having had many Israeli friends when I was growing up in Silicon Valley, I can attest that there was not a single one among them who thirsted for Arab blood or welcomed the prospect of further war and killing. I will say that it's pretty much impossible for an American or almost any other nationality to truly comprehend what it's like to go through every single minute of your life knowing that your whole nation, and all that you've known and loved, is under an immediate threat of extermination, and that the people who are behind the guns cannot be reasoned with; you have been sentenced to die beacause of who and what you are, and there is no lesser outcome that will ever satisfy your antagonists.
Any attempt to deflect by talking about individual cases is moral cowardice and intellectual dishonesty; the real issue is much larger and must be viewed through a larger lens. Either you believe that the Jewish people have a right to a national homeland, or you believe that they should all be slaughtered and/or driven into the sea. As a committed Progressive, it goes very much against my grain to present any issue in such stark either/or terms, but it is an unarguable truth that the terms of this conflict have always been defined and stated by the Pan-Arabists.
Just announce to the world that you no longer wish to kill all of the Jews, and watch how reasonable they can be when they're not staring down the barrell of a gun.
The Jihadists around Israel have to learn the lessen that Anwar Sadat learned in 1967. If you attack Israel, they will fight back and you will lose. Every man and woman in Israel serves at least two years in the military. If needed, everyone over the age of 18 can be called up to defend the country.
Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Syria learned the lessen.
As a reminder to Hamas:
a 28:1 ratio, with an unknown number injured and many homes and businesses destroyed. A ground war would have killed many more, injured tens of thousands and destroyed vast areas of many cities.
As the IRA learned, put down the arms, stop the violence and negotiate a permanent peace.
There are two dissatisfied nations in the Palestinian Israeli conflict. The Israeli Government wishes for safety and security and the Palestinian Government want the territories that the Israeli's occupy returned to them. There should be a reasonable time limit set for the return of Palestinian land and a guarantee of secure true borders for Israel. until both of those conditions are met, neither side can expect peace.
I must add a postscript to my comment above. The British occupied Ireland from the eleventh century. Did either side obtain a solution unti the land was returned?
Blessed are the Peacemakers.... You Go Girl... we are proud of you...we girls want our heroines.
.
Happy Thanksgiving to Hillary.
You are easily convinced ! My guess is that Hamas is getting their butt kicked for the moment and this is the only way they can avoid total embarassment. Look for the hostilities to commence again "soon".
Spectator I: I think it was "Blessed are the cheesemakers". Mrs. Gregory: Aha, what's so special about the cheesemakers? Gregory: Well, obviously it's not meant to be taken literally; it refers to any manufacturers of dairy products.Mickey - have you already started celebrating?
Happy Thanksgiving, Seeking...and I'm always celebrating!
Actually, if you've never seen Monty Python's Life of Brian, I suggest you see it...entertaing no matter how many times you watch it.
Back at ya, Mickey. No I haven't see it but will make a point of doing so - soon!
Have a very Happy Thanksgiving!
Seeking ... just to wet your appetite.

bcwc: don't you mean "This'll wet your whistle...."
Way to go Hillary. Both sides of that conflict need to be bitch slapped. I, for one, am tired them involving the world into their petty world of snipes.
what?? Hey, RedDevPmS ....what are you bitching about? suffering from PMS?
.
.
.
.
.
.
I hope you can take a joke...relax...it's Thanksgiving.
The only PM that is 'essing' me off is that Knitting-yahoo, who won't sit down with the equally irritating Hammered-Mass-Holes, and iron out peace treaty that will hold up for more than one week.
In the name of Yahweh, Israel must stand. In the name of Allah, Israel must fall. In the name of God ... make up Your mind already eh!
Since Yahweh and Allah are basically the one in the same, let's put Abraham and Mohammad at the negotiating table, let them reach an accord, and the cram that accord down the throats of the Jews and the Muslims. Once they get that accord hammered out, they can then sit down with Jesus and talk over what to do with those crazy evangelicals. This religious intolerance has been going on for far to long.
You think the communication between President Obama to Egypt's President Morsi had anything to do with the cease-fire negotiations? Nah . . . it's sheer coincidence . . . /sarcasm
Getting the two parties to cool it will be a nice valedictory for the Secretary of State. Let's hope for all involved that she can.
#2 - Tue Nov 20, 2012 1:24 PM EST
--------------------------------------------------
Albeit tenuous and obviously temporary (and of course the SoS is part of a team) , it is a fitting valedictory for an historically competent and effective Secretary of State.
Happy Thanksgiving Hillary!
(Rest up and get ready to RUN!)
dangerfield - well said! Happy Thanksgiving!
Hey, dangerfield...what are you on? why all of a sudden..a right-wing nut (dangerfield) praises what conservatives call an over-the-top liberal militant feminist (Hillary, that is)?
.
I want to have what you have had.
Pigotry,
Um, your bacon is in the frying pan on that.
Hey BCWC...is that Canadian bacon or streaky bacon?
trouble1954 - typing it in bold doesn't make it any truer. Now just go away - your post is ridiculous and you show yourself to be just another low information crybaby from the right!
Oh, please. American Presidents have been working on peace in the Middle East for decades - President Obama is neither more or less a supporter of Israel or a friend to Palestinians than any other President. It's about time Israel and it's neighbors started behaving like the holy people they claim to be, the entire world is disgusted by their violence.
@sikhing SOME sanity: kumbaya dude...how is that workin' out for you ?
trouble1954 - as we can all see by all of your posts, not so well. I keep seeking sanity in the Republican party but as those like you prove daily, there is absolutely NONE to be found!
the entire world is disgusted by their violence.
Yeah, those darn Israeli's. They ought to just shut up and take it.
They shouldn't defend themselves. Just common terrorists, they are.
Who needs 'em.
The U.S. is not, has never been, and will never be anti-Israel. We will never desert our Jewish brothers, you can be certain about that.
But let's get clear whose mess this is: it belongs to the players in the Middle East. The U.S. has long been the adult that pulls apart two fighting children. It's high time for those children to grow up and make peace with each other. No outside force can 'inflict' peace on two parties that want to destroy each other.
Obama is the master at making Israel and the Arabs own their choices. He will never pander to either party, nor should he. Netanyahu has no business telling the POTUS what to do.
The only way lasting peace can ever be achieved in the Middle East is if it is brokered from within.
Very well stated kaybee!
Where on earth do you dig up that kind of misinformation, trouble?????
Trouble, cut and pasting on every thread available? Just read your last/same post, get some new material, and oh, Peace, please tamp it down some,
Of course, no one is surprised by the myopic view of WCA. I mean, there is just no way it could be a two-sided issue, right WCA? Shouldn't you stay focused on your PowerPoint presentations. They are single-dimensional and within your grasp. Try the leap from black and white to color - new worlds await you.
If you had troops from a neighboring country sending missiles at you and the people of that country coming and building settlements on what is left of your land after it was carved up by other powers how would you feel? Do you think you would fight back?
I believe the US should support Israel but not kiss Israeli tukas.
Troub--1954/ That was about the time that this trouble started. There are two sides to this so I suggest that you research the cause of this conflict . Being Pro one side may be in your nature but I suggest that you look at the reasons fairly.
trouble,
The US has been shifting focus militarily to the far east for several years to counteract the growing might of China. Burma, Thailand, Cambodia, Phillipines, Vietnam and Indonesia are in need of a counterbalance. This is Geo-politics and Geo-economics high-stakes poker. Perhaps you would prefer the US just standby and deal with it when it is too late?
trouble,
I'd seriously suggest that you acquaint yourself to world politics and news that doesn't come from FOX! A real leader? Like the last one your party presented? Your current President is respected the world over. It's too bad that people such as yourself don't realize that. Of course, you're probably still believing that Mitten's Apology book was based on fact, too.
You mean like Romney??? bwahahahaha!!
I voted for Obama, twice. He is my definition of a real leader, and I'm not looking forward to the day he leaves office.
What this country really needs is more smart, well-informed, rational followers.
trouble You win the award today for the best fake outrage. Dude your bold face type makes you look like a old man, who is yelling at some kids who's ball went into his yard. Better yet think of old John McCain yelling on the senate floor. Happy Thanksgiving.
Sorry 1954, the joke is on you for having swallowed all the lies spat out by fox et al.
Imagine if we had taken the advice of the resident righties and thrown Morsi under the bus, what chance would there be for there to be any cease fire? I'm glad we have a real leader in the White House, not Willard who would have kicked the can down the road in the Middle East while spoiling for a war with Iran. As for Trouble1954, the joke if the hollow empty space between your ears.
Ahhh...there's trouble1954, the re-reggie du jour...LOL
Tick tock, Ben...LOL
Did I mention LOL? LOL...
Trouble.....sweetie.....have another shot and try to mellow out. Too much FoxLush is never a good thing. Peace, and Happy Thanksgiving!
Mickey: You think that trouble1954 is Big Ben Alaska? I'm not so sure. He was usually a one liner kinda guy, and yes, he did always end his one line of confusion with the LOL.
trouble, please tamp down your posts, the bold type is a giant irritant, and well as the content, but I'll settle for softer type, please. You may be on ignore shortly, don't really want to do that but....sometimes you do have a point worth rebutting.
Well, trouble, I am a liberal and I voted for Obama twice also and am glad, no RELIEVED that he is our president. Do us a favor...go YELL somewhere else!!!!
Trouble (maker)
You just can't stand it can you? Our President can multi-task. You say you don't want him over making peace with Myanmar but you don't say what you'd rather he be doing. The "cliff" negotiations is in Congress and there is nothing more he can do until he is presented with a bill to sign or veto. Just how much worse would things have been had Susan Rice been SoS? You don't know until one is in the possission. Personally I believe she would do a fine job.
Amazingly the rest of the world agrees with President Obama and not with you. I know that propetual war with everybody and anybody who isn't EXACTLY like us is the goal of the right wing nut job Fascist wannabes but they lost and have to get over it. Thanks for sharing your unpopular opinion however. The Nobel Prize Committee saw something in Obama and now he is proving they were correct.
Not only is he making visits for peace but also to open doors for business. You know about business don't you? That is where we make money from other countries buying our products and we get cheap labor to make cheap stuff to sell at WalMart.
As far as golf and Hawaii are concerned....he has the toughtest job in the world and deserves some down time. You do know that the POTUS is never completely off duty don't you? Even the frat boy Dubya did a share of relaxing during his presidency. They all do. Some more than others. Obama has taken fewer outings than most recent presidents have so you really have nothing to carp about.
Have a great Thanksgiving
ceasefire... is it israel "cease", while hamas "fire"? or hamas "cease" while israel "fire"?
Had McCain been POTUS there wouldn't be a cease fire but bomb, bomb, bomb somebody, anybody.
The military-industrial complex must be really ticked off!
Good job Hillary and I strongly urge the President to choose Susan Rice as the next Secretary of State.
Susan Rice did not tell the truth to the American people about Benghazi. She went on five Sunday talk shows repeating a fairy tale blaming causality on the anti-Mohammed video ! Who in this administration CHANGED the talking points ? WHY did they change the talking points ?? WHY will they STILL not tell the truth ?
Jim, Susan Rice told what she thought was the truth at the time. The intellegence services weren't giving out the correct information. No one knew for sure at the time what the whole story would be as it was chaotic. Now they know. If you are going to blame anybody blame the spies and their spymasters.
David Petraeus has given sworn testimony last Friday that the CIA reports included references to AL QAEDA responsibility for the attacks. I am blaming this administration for spreading the falsehoods ... the BS story of blaming it on "spontaneous demonstrations" when THIS ADMINISTRATION KNEW BETTER !!!!
"This administration" includes Susan Rice, Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama .... all of whom were telling a fairy tale about causality !! Are the all INCOMPETENT, or did they ALL INTENTIONALLY LIE ??
Neither choice is acceptable.
Do you not read the articles explaining why they told the story the way they did?????
jim is just another idiot getting all his information from Fox. There is no point in responding.
Hillary Clinton is the BEST!!!!
Best at what Smitty ? Ignoring that her husband lied while getting his "Presidential knob" POLISHED by an intern while President ... and then LYING, saying he did not have sex "with that woman, Ms. Lewinsky" under oath.
Remind us Jim, how many times was Newt getting his 'knob' polished and lying about it?
Ya jim, and it's not like Bill actually "had sex" with that trash.
And besides that, Hillary choosing to ignore mistakes her husband made have nothing to do with her work as Secretary of State. I agree with Smitty...Hillary Clinton is the BEST!!!!
People: According to US Foreign Aid Summary, ONE THIRD of all US Foreign Aid goes to Isreal and Egypt. I am confident the President of the United States put the "proverbial screws" to both Isreal and Egypt to come to an agreement or both could expect that "the next foreign aid check will truly be lost in the mail".
Money talks b/s walks. In this situation I see B/S walking.
To all of you Hillary praisers, really, give it a rest. Hillary as the SOS is simply the messenger. She makes very few if any decisions as to what to say when in these situations. If you don't think that there is constant communication and scripting in the "meetings" with the other leaders you are sadly mistaken.
I do admire her for having to maintain the HELLISH schedule that she has to and the fact that she can keep her cool but to worship her for her ability all on her own to talk these other nations down is just a little on the sheep side.
And see #13 above. In a nutshell, it is an either/or ultimatum given at home and placed on Hillary's plate to present. Pure and simple.
Oh course she is the messenger, that's her job, but how the message is delivered is the kicker. Secretary Clinton is extraordinary in delivering the message and negotiating. I believe those on the receiving end of the either or's know she speaks for the US and our President. Some obvious arm twisting ensued and for the time being a hopeful sign that Hamas got the message as well as Dede. The Secretary delivered
And here comes Talk, edakating us on role, duties, and functions of the SoS. While you may think you're clever and in the know of international negotiations, you come across as a POS.
Be careful talk, if you are calling Hillary just the messenger, then you are giving credit to the President. I am sure you don't mean to do that.
Hillary 2016
@RedDevPOS #14.2, Perhaps you need to "edakat" yourself. LOL !
In all fairness to Hillary Clinton, US Secretary of State, she has discharged her job responsibilities beyond measure. However, Hillary does have somewhat of an unfair advantage. Specifically, she has her husband, who is intimately familiar with all the middle east players, and is acutely aware of their achilles heels. Therefore, the Secretary of State can literally have the most effective conversation with the players and achieve maximum cooperation from all involved. And to sweeten the pot, none of the regions involved will turn a blind eye to billions of dollars in foreign aid just to win a pissing match.
"
I am thinking due to all the reasons you have mentioned that Hillary would be a great president. First our first black president and then our first woman president. Not that she needs Bill to be president, he would just be the advantage. Take that Christy.
While I was totally against Hillary in 2008, I now think she and Bill have proven themselves and deserve to make history.
Hillary ALSO failed to tell the truth about Benghazi ... she ALSO was repeating the "doctored" talking points and spreading the fairy tale !
She was just telling it how she was asked to....to not compromise the intelligence issues regarding the attack...no reason to be attacking her personally.
That is bull$hit and the American people know it ! You do not have to LIE if it is an intelligence issue. This is a coverup and the only questioned is where did the concept of "doctoring" and "editing" the CIA report originate.
Please people. Don't think that everyone named Jim is this stupid.
Setting up very nicely for 2016.. now if we could just vote John McCain and Lindsey Graham off of our island then we could get somewhere..
Why yes ! With no opposition, you won't have to lie as often !
Secretary Hillary Clinton......This major achievement, only, helps illuminate your outstanding, consistent & noble work, for our country......
Americans all over, salute you, and we offer our humbly thanks for your great leadership, integrity, wisdom, courage, and clarity always shared in the highest profession manner.
Just wondering where the MSNBC story is about the so called "editor" and "journalist" Richard Wolffe called John McCain a racist, stunning even the MSNBC race baiter he was talking to, Chris Matthews.
A man who is probably more fair minded than just about any Senator in Washington. A man who adopted a South Asia daughter. The man who SUPPORTED A BLACK WOMAN as Secretary of State in 2005. Called a racist by the EDITOR of MSNBC. And why?
Because he has the gall to say that Susan Rice shouldn't be Secretary of State.
This is the kind of out and out FILTH that you libs support. But I'm sure Wolffe will be hailed as a hero to all of you for spreading LIES and racial garbage.
But WHERE is the story from this oh so wonderful "news" organization that the left loves so much?
oh you mean the same mccain who said today that obama's foreign policy was making phone calls from burma only once again to be proven an old , bitter, fool when with the work of the president an our secretary of state a cease fire agreement was made
Cease fire agreement????? Really? This "war" has been going on as long as I can remember, its called RELOAD.
There is no "cease" fire, Obama and Hillary have not done what no OTHER Administration has ever done through out history, so quit salivating liberals, thinking Obama ONCE AGAIN has LOWERED the sea levels.
This just simply gives CNN and MSNBC time to run in and take "arranged" pictures, of the devastation that ISRAELI missiles have done.
And photo ops for the terrorists(oops sorry Islamic freedom fighters) to show how the Israeli warmongers have inflicted American funded death, on the poor defenseless Palestinians, who simply want a small piece of dirt they can call their own............and ISRAEL wiped of the map.
Use ur head/ I consider that your nom de plume should be prowd t b jwish.. there are two sides that should be seeking a fair solution to this difficult, possibly impossible to solve problem. The Israeli Government has procrastinated in returning the occupied territories for over fifty years. They occupied those Land's as a defensive measure against the bombardment of their lands. Their opponents have not assured them that they would discontinue the attacks if the land was returned. Both sides have powerful allies. Surely we should be able to have both sides in this conflict come to the table after all of this time.
McCain is chicken...McChicken... mmmmmm.... delicious...but bones too old.
McCain has been wrong about pretty much everything for the past 30 years but really went down hill when Obama kicked his butt in 2008.
Jeese Louise Hillary, whats up with the hair lately? Are you trying to do a Kurt Cobain impersonation or something?
She looks like that hair hasn't seen shampoo or even a simple bar of soap in months. I heard some wheres that when someone is depressed, they stop taking care of their personal hygiene.
Maybe you libs should kick in for some "spa treatment", since some of you are under the impression she is next in line in 2016.
LOL....also was thinking lead singer from Meatloaf.
Meatloaf is a person and not a group. And I would imagine that hair is very important to the mentally challlenged. How about some comments about her clothes?
The Secretary Of State did the job that is required for that position. Nothing more America! The President is keeping a close eye on the situation in Gaza however, it is the Secretary Of State to take the lead. Is Mrs. Clinton a good Secretary Of State? World History will eventually make that calculation. The President is letting the Secretary Of State do the job that she was appointed to do. Peace is always the goal for every nation to achieve, and the use of war is wasteful.
So you believe Hamas will honor the agreement? Just as they have done in past?
Your either not serious , naive or extremely ignorant of history.
PEACE?..there will not be peace. We go rid of Mubarak and Ghadafi and replaced them with Muslim Brotherhood leadership. I would take both back in a heart beat.
Egypt will open the borders to the Gaza strip which will allow flows of weapons and Al Queda. Egypt is aligned with Iran and Hamas.
Where are the young democracy protestors and women presence in both these countries now?
We appease Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Egypt, Libya, etc.....they hate America and we send them billions of tax payor money and for what?
Buffaloful - we have just been making bad choices on the world leaders we have been installing. Why did we make Putin President of Russia again? And Kim Jong-il was a bad choice in North Korea. I think the US department of picking world leaders has been a complete failure.
I wonder who is on Obama’s short list for the next president of Iran? Ahmadinejad was a mistake. I guess it was Bush who made him president in 2005.
So when the rockets start to hit Israel again will the cease-fire be honored by Israel as it should. They really should not fire back because, you know.
