OK... last post about turkey pardons this year, we swear...

WHEW!

You guys sure like to talk "turkey"... lol

Say, speaking of cold "turkeys" anyone else catch the picture of Willard in his wrinkled Costco shirt and mom jeans pumping his own gas yesterday?

My, how far the once "mighty" have fallen...

What's next, Queen Annie doing her own dishes?

Anyway, in the spirit of the holiday, I wish them both a happy, fun filled Thanksgiving, riding up & down in their new car elevator!

America has MUCH to be thankful for this year, first and foremost for not allowing those two sociopaths anywhere near the White House!

I'm hopeful that Mr. Romney can find a new challenge for himself.

Think of all the money that was donated to all of the SuperPACs and to the Romney Campaign itself. Imagine if Mr. Romney could rally as much support towards, say, research into treatment and maybe even a cure for Multiple Sclerosis as he was able to rally towards defeating President Obama in the election.

So Domenico is a history buff AND turkey dinner chef. He said that he is going to prepare and cook the turkey. And he sounds like he's looking forward to it. That's terrific.

Very very nice video and always nice to see Mark & Domenico on tv. They are a couple of cool guys.

Check out this line from Gov. Patrick's message for Thanksgiving:

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. The emphasis is on things I love, like family and
food. Little ceremony. No gifts. No pressure. The worst of it consists of a political argument with some cranky relative. But mostly, it is peaceful and a good time to reflect.

___________

Something we're all going to have to endure tomorrow. LoL! Bring plenty of wine AND champagne. We Obama supporters are in a celebratory mood. Don't take any ****!

WE WON and make sure they understand it this time.

If I were good at posting links, I would post the one of the interview with Sarah Palin at the turkey processing plant where a turkey is being decapitated while she blathers on about nothing. Sums her up perfectly!

I hope the Romney family enjoys a great Thanksgiving. I'm just glad they won't be the ones pardoning turkeys for the next four years!

Good luck to Domenico with the turkey cooking. I think the hardest part is getting everything ready at the same time!

Jen sure likes to pound every ounce of flesh from her Mittens. The election is over old girl, your messiah won. Is it time to give it a rest and focus on other items, like runaway government spending?

Mitt is done running, forever. But I will admit, it would be interesting to be having dinner with the two sociopaths in the WH this year.

All hail the King Barry and Queen Moo.

Run away government spending, eh? How do you arrive at such a stupid claim when under Obama, spending has decreased?

Speaking of sociopaths, it would be interesting to see how my psychopaths will be sitting at the table of 1PsychoticFunnyGirl on Thanksgiving. My guess is not too many .. an electric carving knife in the hands of a 'funny-girl' can really put a damper on the festivities.

We all know the republicans are still spreading lies. Spending has gone down under President Obama as well as the deficit has gone down. You can count on the republicans to hide the truth from the people and tell the voters one lie after another.

Talk about double standards and all the hate towards our president. That was after we found out from Romney that all of us only voted for President Obama because of the gifts.

I voted for President Obama because I believe in real freedom not the republican kind where they make women into second class citizens with the government in charge of my health care decisions.

I voted for President Obama because I believe in real freedom not the republican kind where they are trying to suppress the vote as the only way republicans can win elections.

Funny the republican party running on taking your rights away wants you to believe they are the party of freedom.

Then after telling every lie and every conspiracy theory the republicans can dream up about President Obama they want you to feel sorry for Mitt the twit because people tell the truth about him.

I see Caesar is on day 2 of his new campaign to make left wingers feel bad about themselves. I notice that the right wing becomes very interested in the notion that the left wing should be all about compromise after the right wing has lost an election. After all, we won't move this country forward unless we all give up something, right, Caesar? -nudge, nudge, wink, wink-

I mean, look at all of those right wing presidents who placed multiple, competent, qualified left wingers in positions of responsibility in their cabinets. Look at all those times the right wing has compromised on strengthening workers' rights over the last thirty years or so. Or how much stringently they've spoken out against the outliers in their midst who demonized basic things that have been around for over a century now like Social Security.

Oh, wait. None of that actually happened.

But I do see what is happening here. The right wing is counting on the fact that this will be like the '90's again and that we on the left are going to be stupid. That we are just going to forget their collective behavior for the last four years and continue to give ground and give ground and give ground under the misguided hope that they will someday like us.

right Michael because compromise means you get everything you want, but i see here we are on day what after the election and still talk of repubs being insignificant and have no right to represent their constituents. I love how you lefties are still screaming maturity while going neener neener we won. Good so lets start going forward as you guys claim. Both sides Michaeal. No, what it is that you want is contention. The 90's were a good example of compromise. Clinton came middle which is where a president really should ultimately go whether there is a D or R behind their name. I just hope our politicians and leaders are more mature than the posters in FR.

Actually, how about we start with getting anything we want? I mean, over the last 20 years, we've gotten tax rates down to the point where it's fiscally unhealthy for the country... which the left wing did not want. We've gotten a national healthcare system that is frankly more conservative than the one that Richard Nixon advocated for... which the left wing did not want, but ultimately settled for mainly because Joe Lieberman chose at that point to display his ass toward the party that decided only 10 years before to give him the nomination for the vice presidency. And which, by the way, was pretty much a direct carbon copy of a right wing plan that the right wing decided it no longer liked.

We've seen gun control become such a third rail that even though maniacs are blowing people away in mass numbers at a higher rate than ever before, the issue isn't even discussed. We've seen what 'exceptions' for abortion a politician supports and not whether he considers the procedure to be legal or not become the 'middle' of the abortion debate. We've see more power put into corporate hands over the last thirty years than at any point since before the 1930's. In fact, we've seen that to such a degree that we don't even think it's all that unusual, let alone morally despicable for corporations to hire people on a permanent 'temp' basis to avoid paying them any benefits whatsoever and, even then, when the profits are still not high enough, to shut down everything in the United States so that they can pay Chinese workers a buck an hour to produce inferior products that they then turn around and sell them to the workers they just fired for the same price they were charging for the better products the American workers were making.

And we've seen our government actually reward these companies for doing this by not charging them any taxes on their profits whatsoever even if the company is headquartered in Toledo, Ohio, just as long as those profits are held 'overseas.' As a result of this, we have seen corporate taxes as a percentage of their GDP at their lowest levels since taxes started being collected on corporate profits. And still the corp first crowd continues to bitch about any taxes being collected at all. In fact, this sort of sleazy and patently Unpatriotic behavior is widely applauded by your side of the aisle as 'good business practices.'

We've overseen the complete collapse of the American Union movement and seen that collapse widely cheered by the right despite the fact that American wages are dropping on a yearly basis as if there is absolutely no correlation between those two facts whatsoever. We've seen the most massive expanse of the power of the government to spy on its own citizens in the history of the nation. We've seen our two longest wars started against two nations whose governments lacked both the capacity and the desire to directly attack us and despite the fact that we annihilated both nations' capacity to fight wars within weeks of being there, we have remained there for over a decade.

You think the left wing wanted these things? Any of them?

If not, tell me exactly what it is that during all this time the right wing has not gotten its way on. We've moved so far to the right as a nation that things the left wing used to hold dear have been totally forgotten as points of debate.

I have already told you exactly how you can achieve the 'compromise' that is so temporarily dear to your heart until the next time that your side wins an election. Simply stop being dicks. Stop treating the other side as though they are moronic cretins merely for disagreeing with you. Actually engage in the debate rather than contemptuously deriding your opponents for a change. But in the two weeks since the election, your side hasn't even managed the small amout of contrition it would take to even fake that.

I, for one, am tired of moving to the right during democratic presidencies and then moving to the extreme right at alarming speed during Republican presidencies and having that called 'compromise.'

When one side always gets its ways and then bitches as if its being left out when it subsequently doesn't get its way fast enough, that is not compromise at all, Caesar.

    Caesar,

I responded to one of your very pointed questions yesterday and was wondering if you'd bothered to read it.

Good so lets start going forward as you guys claim. Both sides Michaeal. No, what it is that you want is contention. The 90's were a good example of compromise. Clinton came middle which is where a president really should ultimately go whether there is a D or R behind their name.

Regarding that statement, I think President Obama is in the middle and working towards compromise. Just as Clinton did. It's Congress that is still stuck on stupid and on the far right of a party that doesn't have any interest in actually working with the President.

We've seen gun control become such a third rail that even though maniacs are blowing people away in mass numbers at a higher rate than ever before, the issue isn't even discussed

gun control? seriously? What part of the second amendment limits guns? I say use both hands.

We've overseen the complete collapse of the American Union movement

Hostess? Tell me what Unions are doing to benefit the worker? Look at the NHLPA...

We've seen the most massive expanse of the power of the government to spy on its own citizens in the history of the nation.

and yet you seem to think its ok that Obama has kept it (and a good amount of Bush's f*cked policies). I will agree with you there. No love for the Patriot Act, no love for Sneek and Peak warrants (goes beyond patriot act). Unfortunately what I am gathering from the many left posters in here is that its all or nothing for the left. Im sorry thats not how it works. I would like to first of all give a star-spangled, twenty-one-gun "ATTA GIRL!" to our inimitable Feisty for her parallel support on other threads for both supporting the Wal- Mart strikers, and supporting "Shop Local Saturday." It's our great good fortune to live in a place with an abundance of craftspeople and artisans. (Could be all that rain and the seventeen-hour-long winter nights... we have a localized 'baby boom' every August and September. Y'all do the math.)

As we head into this holiday in which we celebrate the Puritans' success in establishing religious freedom for themselves (and determinedly do not speak of their Draconian measures to deny same to anybody else), I would like to offer a heartfelt Best Wishes to my Fellow Travellers, and a suggestion for the Loyal Opposition, if such still exists: It's the very nature of Progressivism that we believe no person is ever completely beyond redemption! Whoever chooses to turn their back on the politics of greed, blame, division and fear will always be welcomed into our ranks; and for those of you who won't, well, we'll continue to pray for you, because that's just who we are.

Liberalism has never been the easy path, but danged if it don't help a body rest easy nights.

It is easy to boycott WalMart over their opening on Thanksgiving---I already boycott them over their labor practices. There are other places to shop and if I pay a little more, so be it.

The almighty dollar is not so important that it has to be earned 365 days a year. And if someone really has a need to shop, go online.

It boils down to greed. The merchants (especially the big ones like WalMart) want to get your money before someone else gets it. Since I hate shopping I let Mrs Adler take care of most of it and what little I do is done on line. Personally with the price of gas and the hassle I'll spend a buck or two more to keep my sanity and the price won't be that much different in the end. This is especially the case when they offer free shipping.

I too avoid Walmart. Think of all the business Walmart would have if they treated their workers with respect and thousands of people like me could shop there.

I think all the new business would more than pay for higher wages and health care for their workers. But then republicans have never been known for caring about the American people, as they are now fighting for the 1% as being more important than the health of our economy.

Instead of fighting for America and fighting for a better economy and jobs, the republicans are still trying to keep the campaign promises they made to their rich campaign donors of lower taxes for them while destroying the American economy.

I live in very liberal Washington state, we voted 60% for President Obama. I don't know anyone who will admit to going to Walmart to shop.

The creepy owners of Walmart are now worth over 83 billion dollars that they couldn't spend in several lifetimes and yet still don't feel they have enough money to extend a hand up to their workers. Typical republican thinking, all for the rich and nothing for the people as the republicans are still fighting to extend the tax cuts for the rich deficit creators.

I really don't expect the republicans to compromise and that they will continue to hold 98% of America hostage to get tax cuts for the rich.

Going off the fiscal curb is the only way taxes will ever get raised on the rich. But go ahead republicans shock me and show you care about America and her people and prove me wrong.

            Oscar:

Because their presence managed to drive almost all of the locally owned businesses under, thus creating a situation where in many small towns, Wal-Mart has become the primary employer.

It's basically either work at the Wal-Mart for slave wages or leave your home. A lot of the young people do end up leaving their home, but I don't really think that should be something that should be applauded.

How does Wal-Mart get away with this?

Well, primarily by paying such low wages that they've essentially outsourced the 'benefits' portion of their pay package to the Federal and State governments in the form of Food Stamps and Medicaid. Something like 68% of Wal-Mart's hourly employees meet the eligibility requirements for one program or the other.

Ahhhh, because people need a job? Walmart will hire just about anyone. Two of my brothers took a stint at working at their local Walmart years ago. Neither of them lasted more than a couple of weeks. They worked in the warehouse at night and they were literally on lock down in the warehouse. No way in, no way out. The management that is trained the "Walmart way" are a whole other story.

Also, when Walmart opens up in a town, especially a small town like where I live, they pretty much drive many small "mom and pop" businesses out of business. I know of four small operations that closed their doors within a year after our Walmart came here because they could in no way compete with the vulture capitalism that Walmart represents.

No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court. The Congress shall have Power to declare the Punishment of Treason, but no Attainder of Treason shall work Corruption of Blood, or Forfeiture except during the Life of the Person attainted.
