The slaves in China seem to be doing pretty well. Their economy has been growing at 7 to 9 percent. Bangladesh and Vietnam are also doing well at labor intensive products.

The US will have to concentrate in areas where we are competitiive - like Germany does - high tech,high wages. I like getting good products at good prices. Makes my income go further. The fact that we now have large supplies of cheap natural gas will help us become competitive in some areas. But unlikely that we can be competitive in high labor intensive manufacturing of products that don't change very frequently.

We might be competitive in parts due to quick supply possibilities. Most of our people now work in services instead of manufacturing.

Boo-Hoo: trust you understand that since the 1980's we have had a reduction in middle class pay. When the industrial revolution really got going in America was when Henry Ford decded to pay his employees a wage high enough so they could prchase the product he wanted to build- cars.

The industrialists understood they needed a domestic market to support their production. Today we have a global economy. The corporate leaders no longer think in terms of a domestic market. Labor is just another cost input. Cut it and increase the profit margin. Isnt THAT the reason why corporate profit is UP since 2009 collapse despite high unemployment and lower and stagnant wages?

Ford's fair pay was revolutionary. Earler Ge (JP Morgan) US Steel (Carnegie) and
Rockefeller (Standard OIl) cut wages to starvation levels.

The History Channel just had a summary program on this. The three "robber barons" got together and bought a President who would protect their financial interests against reform. Unfortunately for them and fortunately for the US, McKinley died in office and Teddy Roosevlt (trust buster) became President.

There have been times where I have not been able to take a check but my employees and the bills were paid. We go through good times and bad times with the way the economy is. And with taxes going up and Obama care kicking in with 21 new taxes, a lot of companies are going to be laying off, cutting back or going out of business. We are in for some bad times ahead if the government doesn't get off the backs of companies and start taking down the unions.
