UPDATED Noon ET: Paul Ryan’s claimed that the “urban areas” were a principal reason for President Obama’s win. And while turnout increased in many population centers in swing states Obama won, they don't fully explain Obama's sweeping win.
“The surprise was some of the turnout, some of the turnout especially in urban areas, which gave President Obama the big margin to win this race,” Ryan claimed last week. “When we watched Virginia and Ohio coming in, and those ones coming in as tight as they were, and looking like we were going to lose them, that’s when it became clear we weren't going to win.”
With provisional ballots counted in the last few days, the president did increase his vote total in many "urban areas" in swing states he won. On Election Night, as votes were coming in, it wasn't the case that the president was running up the score.
The president's margins weren't atypical for Democrats. They run up margins in population centers, and President Obama is no different. And certainly Obama's margins in Cuyahoga County, where Cleveland is, and Northern Virginia, put the president over the edge. But they weren't unusual or particularly high.

So far, in Ohio and Pennsylvania, in fact, his vote totals are off from 2008, though ballots are still being counted and election results will change as more votes are counted. In 2008, more than nine million votes were counted after Election Day.
The one place where Obama did increase his totals significantly in population centers was Florida. There, he gained 56,000 more votes than 2008 in three counties – Miami-Dade, Hillsborough (Tampa), and Orange (Orlando). That’s 76% of his winning margin in the state.
In other swing states Obama won -- like Colorado, Iowa, Wisconsin, and Nevada -- Obama increased his vote totals, but not enough to significantly impact the overall vote margins in those states.
The “urban areas" vote
FLORIDA: +56,000 (Obama’s FL margin was +74,000)

Richmond: +2,000
WISCONSIN: +11,000 (Obama’s WI margin was 205,000)

Do you think the President running out of "free stuff" had anything to do with the decrease among "urban" voters? ;o)
Looks like Lyin Ryan couldn't even get this "story" straight!
Another right wing excuse laid to rest!
Time to pull up your big boy panties Paulie, and accept the fact no one is to blame for YOUR LOSS except YOU & Willard!
BWHAHAHA!
In 2016 or by 2020 at the latest when TX becomes a swing state along with AZ the Electoral Map becomes a serious problem for Republicans as Democrats will only need to carry 12 states to win.
CA@55 + TX@38 + NY@29 + FL@29 + PA@20 + IL@20 + OH@18 + MI@16 + NJ@14 + VA@13 + MA@12 + WI@10 = 274
That does not even include the other 12 reliable "Blue" States that are another 70 Electoral Votes or the other 46 Electoral Votes from the remaining Swing States.
Total Electoral Votes in play for Democrats = 390 (49 more than this year)
The road to 270 for Democrats will become much easier and with many more options than for Republicans.
Lest we forget, Ryan couldn't even carry that highly urbanized area of Janesville, his hometown. What can we expect from a supposed 'numbers' guy that can't graduate beyond the beginners course of PowerPoint for Dummies 101.
"This was the reason we lost, that was the reason we lost, it was because of . . . ."
Of course, the loss had nothing to do with what today's Republican Party stands for.
I was just out picking up my free gifts (thanks for reminding me, Feisty), listening to an interview of a biographer of Eisenhower. The biographer was saying that Ike won easily in 1952 and won by a landslide in 1956. He then went to say that Ike's overall approval rating was 65%, a percentage no other president has come close to matching. A caller asked whether the biographer thought Ike could get nominated by today's Republican Party. The biographer said he thought not. Pretty sad, when you think about it.
Yet another example of First Read, and the ultra-leftist media, trying to convince us that Obama won by more than the 3.2% of the vote that he actually did.
Just to put this in perspective; Obama's margin of victory was 3,969,255 votes. Which, is less than half the population of the city of New York; or, about three quarters of a million votes less than the total population of the boroughs of Brooklyn and Queens, combined.
Yes, he won by taking the most electoral votes, and he won the popular vote as well. That's the way we do things here in the good old U.S. of A.
But, his margin was not a landslide, and it certainly was/is not a mandate by any stretch of the imagination.
So, let's move away from this childish non-sense of making Obama's win seem like more than what it really was, and get on with the business of fixing the economy, putting people back to work, helping the victims of Hurricane Sandy (which should probably come first on the list) , and at some point; telling the truth about Benghazi.
It's just pure silliness to continue on with the pre-teen-like cackling about what a supposed ass-whoopin' the election was.
Because, it wasn't and we are still a very deeply divided nation.
Dennis, enjoy your win, but it is way too early to assume Hispanics are going to jump on the Democrat train for life. Hispanics are overwhelmingly Catholic and many are small business folks. Please recall after the 2004 George W win, many in the media spoke of a "permanent GOP majority". Nothing is permanent in US politics.
Calling Texas for democrats is a huge leap. Florida, Ohio, VA, are clearly swing states and likely will be for a long time. Winning by a couple of points does not mean permanent realignment. It means your guy won by a couple of points. Please recall these states have GOP governors, state legislatures, and at least one GOP Senator. Ditto Michigan and Wisconsin.
Let's wait four years and see what happens. Obama has no one else to blame and no where to hide. It could easily be a Ryan/Rubio landlslide the other way!
No one is saying he won by a landslide.
The mandate everyone speaks of is the combination of his win plus the Democrats increasing their margins in both the Senate and the House. Why do people on this site have to say this over and over and over again? Some of the RWNJ clowns have finally got it. But not ZMan. Oh, no. Not ZMan.
Moving on requires both sides to do so. If Republicans won't acknowledge what an Obama win means to the American people, there will be no moving on.
It wasn't a Reagan landslide by any means, however, it says something about Obamacare, moving forward with the economy, and moving forward with foreign policy.
For Republicans to say, "We have as much a mandate as Obama" is equally foolish. They lost the election, lost seats in the senate and the house.
Sorry about this but I want to get it out.
Off topic, I would urge everyone that will to support the labor movement by Wall Mart employees this weekend and shop black Fri some place else and boycott Wally world.
The Urban Vote
From the article above:
David Axelrod ran a laser-like campaign, focusing on the counties, and districts he knew the President could win, and thus, win that state’s Electoral Votes.
These districts, in all of these states, will have to play a huge role in the 2014 campaign if Democrats want to control the House.
Not sure what the Congressman was thinking there. For several elections now, it is widely accepted that Democrats do well in the urban areas.
I think the biggest surprise for the Congressman, was that they trusted their polling, their numbers and their media only to find out they had been fooled.
The final results of the election showed the President won by a huge margin in the Electoral College and Democrats picked up many seats in the House and Senate.
Overall, a COMMANDING victory for the Democrats!
Salud
ZMan
All I heard over and over in the run up to the election was the right-wing media pundits predicting a 'landslide' for Romney of 'over 300' electoral votes.
So tell me, if over 300 electoral votes was a landslide for Romney why isn't it for the President?
The President won 332 electoral votes, over 50% of the popular vote, the Dems not only successfully defended EVERY Senate seat and House seat but picked up more. That most certainly is a mandate.
You Repubs keep making excuses but just can seem to realize that the voting public just prefers the President's vision of America and not yours. And unless/until you do realize it and move back to the center (especially on social matters) you will continue to lose. The far, far right-wingers are simply NOT a majority and never will be again. So either grow up, admit you lost, become a 'loyal opposition' and work on compromises or go the way of the Whigs and some other party will replace you.
Americans are sick and tired of Republicans trying to make voting more difficult.
When a person serving in WWII is repeatedly told they don't have the right to vote, it's a guarantee they, their family, and their friends will not be voting Republican any time soon.
Think about it, many of these Republican laws would prevent George Washington from being able to vote.
@ZMan2012
So winning by over 100 electoral votes mean no man date and bush 2000 win means a man date?
How the hell do you square that sh!t? You can't you RWNJ you can't not with any rational person anyway. Those rational people are the same ones who gave you the azz kicking in this election. Want some more? Just wait awhile its coming because what the GOP polices are the American people are not buying the POS.
This is the biggest vote win since FDR. President Obama spanked that azz more than 100 times over.
What would you call an azz kicking 322 to 206 or another lopsided number in your alternate brain?
So winning by over 100 electoral votes mean no man date and bush 2000 win means a man date?
Winning by 100 electoral votes doesn't really mean @!$%# when CA is over half of those votes. I am, and always have been, against how electoral votes are divided up. All it causes is the majority of the states to be completely worthless in the election. Oregon, where I live, has seven votes. There are seven states (if I counted right) that only have three votes. Then you have NY and FL worth 29, and CA with 55. Pretty much what that means is the majority of the states could not vote, and there would be zero change in the out come. That means that american votes don't matter depending on where you live.
The only way to make it equal, make everyone's votes matter no matter where they live, is to give a set number per state, all states the same number. Make 5, give every state 5 votes. That way every state counts.
There's quite a few folks where I live that don't even bother to vote. For one thing, the northern I-5 corridor make Oregon blue, the high majority of the rest of the state is red (aside from Ashland, but we don't talk about Ashland). So no matter what the rest of the state votes, our electoral votes will go blue, always, every time.
And I know there's people already furiously typing that I just want republicans to win. Well, you're wrong. I'm an independent. Through out my adult life (the past 24 years) I've flipped between elephant and ass pretty constant.
Sorry, Alex, but this sort of argument makes no sense.
Electoral votes that each state gets are based on the number of senators the state has (2 each), plus the nubmer of congresspeople in the House (allocated proportionally by population). So the lowest number of electoral votes a state can have is three (two senators, and one represenative).
While this may seem small to you, look at it by population and you see that the states with low population are actually OVERREPRESENTED in the electoral college. This is because the 438 seats in the house are broken up by population, but no state can have less than one representative. Let's divide out people per electoral vote for two different states, South Dakota (3 electoral votes) and California (55 electoral votes).
South Dakota's population -- 824,082 people, or 274,694 people per electoral vote
California's population -- 37,691,912 people, or 685,307 people per electoral vote.
So, in essence, right now each person in South Dakota's vote is worth (electorally speaking anyway) TWO AND A HALF times that of a Californian! Talk about an advantage for small states!
If you gave each state 5 electoral votes, then in the above example, 164,816 South Dakotans would get one electoral vote. In California, one electoral vote would represent 7.5 million people. That would mean that a South Dakota vote would be worth 45 times more than a California vote.
Really? This shouldn't strike anyone as a good idea.
South Dakota has equal representation as California in the Senate. That's why there are two houses of Congress; to balance power between large states and small states. (It was called the Great Compromise.) If you don't like the electoral college, a better replacement would be direct election of the president by popular vote.
He still won the popular vote, so whats the difference? and 55 electoral votes is not half of the votes, that is basic math!
You'd think that with all of Romney's talk about 47% of American refuse to take "personal responsibility" that Romeny and Ryan would do exactly that -- take personal responsibility for THEIR OWN loss but noooo, all Republicans can ever do is "blame the Democrats".
Well, this blame AND personal responsibility I am sure President Obama will all too happy to accept: It was President Obama's job to "kick Republican butt" and he sure did get the job done!
Forward >>>
@Midwesterner,
Are you going to deny that the difference in the current electoral votes disenfranchises people living in low vote states? It really doesn't matter if their votes count more per representative if their electoral votes are so small.
I'm not saying replace the current with what I said. All I'm saying there has to be a better way so that one person can't win an extreme minority of the number of the states and still win the election.
@Huh (aptly named btw)
I quote myself :
Winning by 100 electoral votes doesn't really mean @!$%# when CA is over half of those votes.
CA is 55 votes, 55 is over one half of 100, which is 50. Reading comprehension works wonders (as does basic math).
Look, there's no reason for any more articles like this. The GOP lost because their guy was an oily used car salesman who changed his views as often as a baby changes diapers, and who showed unbelieveable contempt for any American who wasn't a member of a country club. He was a douche, had douchey ideas, and represented yanking back American progress by decades. Nuff said, and done.
Long and short of it -- more of us were scared witless that Romney and Ryan would win (and what that would mean for those of us not in the high income brackets) than were incredibly impressed with Barack Obama's first term.
AND. AND. We knew exactly who created the federal government log jam. Hint: It wasn't a Democratic president or Democratic senators and representatives. Sadly, with all the post election Republican blathering, I'm afraid the next four years will be much the same. Even so, it will be far better than what most of us could have expected with a Romney/Ryan win.
Alex----What we need to do something about is these states like DE etc. having the same number of senators as CA.....
This will tamp down the wingnuts power....
It is disgusting that MT has the same power in the senate as NY...
feel free to toddle on over to Fox. We don't mind. More cake and ice cream for us...
seriously? Is this your understanding of how the electoral college works? You need to go back to middle school my friend. Your education has been sorely neglected.
The electoral college was created to make sure no single problem faction took control of the government and held the country hostage to it's own agenda.
Looks like it's working fine to me.
You CANNOT insult virtually every demographic other than old, white men and expect to win national elections. You cannot constantly badmouth large geographic areas of the nation --- Massachusetts Liberal, Chicago style politics, California elitist --- and expect to win a national election. If Republicans don’t learn that, they will go the way of the Whig Party of the 19th century.
Charlie,
You forgot the Tea Party, the GOP and Mitt also managed to alienate (piss-off) a good number of old white men on Social Security and Medicare. Not to mention Blacks, Hispanics and Asians.
Newt Gingrich was on 'The Colbert Report' last week. This was the sane, quite rational Newt who did a pretty good job of saying the same things. He actually compared his party to analysts who looked at a store with declining sales, and blaming the customers; rather than asking the customers what they want. He then went on to suggest that the GOP needed to moderate its language, policies and candidates; if it ever wanted to win national elections again. Although he did not actually say it, he hinted that unless the GOP-controlled House works with the Administration, the GOP would lose the house in 2014.
Perhaps, the GOP ought to once and for all divorce itself from Murdock's Tea Party and the closet-dwelling Grover Norquist's; and actually work to resolve our problems and work to make Obamacare (the Affordable Care Act) work as well. You know, like they did before the NeoCons hijacked the party following Reagan.
Pretty funny stuff, Conservatives wailing about how an electoral landslide isn't a "real" landslide...after GW Bush LOST THE POPULAR VOTE and his backers went on to claim anyone who opposed his policies was probably guilty of treason!
It's the OVERALL picture that tells the tale. As someone else pointed out above Republicans were expecting a win with 300 electoral votes and instead their opponent won with 332. The were expecting to expand their majority in the House and instead lost a net 8 seats. The hoping to bring the Senate to at least even and lost ground there as well.
ROMNEY/RYAN DIDN'T LOSE THIS ELECTION...THE REPUBLICAN PARTY AND CONSERVATIVE MOVEMENT LOST THIS ELECTION. Get over it and start behaving as honest brokers in the conversation or keep doing what you're doing and become irrelevant to the conversation...it's that simple.
And if R/R had won the principal reason would have been the rural areas --
Romney and Ryan stepped into the big league of politics. They lost.
For their deserved election lost, instead of blaming the "urban vote" e.g. people of color, Romeny and Ryan should blame their undemocratic platform and themselves. It is not a secret why so many Republicans were defeated:
- Americans need and want health care.
- Our citizens like Medicare. We do not want to scuttle Medicaid.
- By churning and jeopardizing the Social Security Trust Fund, our citizens do not want Wall Street traders making huge commissions.
- Our citizens do not want huge tax breaks to be given to the rich, at the expense of the middle class and the poor
- We do not want to reward employers who ship our jobs overseas.
- We do not believe that the capital gains tax rate should fall to zero.
- We believe that all citizens should have the right to and be allowed to vote.
- We do not want to be mired in global wars.
- We believe that women should have equal pay, and access to health care.
- Our citizens want to invest in education for our youth, so that they can be literate and globally competitive.
- We believe that by our government, our food and environment should be protected.
- We like the fact that there is FEMA to respond to natural disasters.
- The majority of our citizens do not want to go backwards, and cradle themselves in a 1750's America.
Americans believe that our Commander In Chief should be able to stand before the majority and speak the truth!
Romney and Ryan now feel the "sting" that they wanted so many vulnerable people to feel.
Obama/Forward
Obama/Biden January 20, 2013!
-
Rigged voting machines would explain the votes?
Ironically, if the GOP had won, we would have heard:
"Our voting system worked."
"The American people have given us a mandate."
"This was a rejection of Obama's policies."
"We can now take our country back."
If the Republicans continue to look at everyone else for their failure, gladly, they well earn another lost in 2016.
It's easy to win when you cheat and lie,but no worries, what comes around goes around, and it looks like his lies are catching up with him.:) And I don't give a hoot what names you call because it just proves your trying to protect the lier and Cheat,And he will be found out by all eventually, his Presidency will go down as the Worst most incompetent,President and Administration in the history of America, that's enough for me.
How about this unique idea?
Obama won the election because the majority of the people liked his way better than Romeny's way. Bottom line, that's why he won and all the wimpering and excuses won't change that simple fact. Had more people liked Romney's message, they would have voted for him.
Beth, great common sense! Ster2 cannot grasp your point.
You must be referring to the 2000 year election.
The American people had enough. This is why Obama was re-elected.
I am continually astounded by the ignorance of scientific facts and mathematics exhibited by the majority of GOP leaders (who often become losers in elections because of it). Romney is supposed to be the keen analytical business expert who is a wizard with a spreadsheet and Ryan is the intellectual genius behind the new plans of the conservative brain trust in Congress. But look at how these two clowns performed recently:
* Romney ran a disorganized data analytics / social networking organization. ORCA wasn't a whale - it was a turkey ... a platinum plated turkey that sunk to the bottom of Boston Harbor with Romney's transition website.
* Romney's overly simplistic classification of the electorate largely derailed any momentum he had in the campaign. He further compounds his mistake by his inability to learn any lessons from the scientific post mortems that are available on the election and instead goes into an irrelevant rant, which further alienates the voters from the GOP.
* Ryan makes a pointless argument here; it's neither accurate nor is is helpful to the Republican party with the very demographics that are so important to their future. Clearly, not a very smart politician and not displaying the kind of leadership we'll be looking for in 2016.
* The GOP / far right reaction to scientific polls and modern analysis techniques? Create their own biased polls to tell them what they want to hear and ignore the evidence that every mathematician in the world had at their fingertips. Then spend money from a small number of rich benefactors in uncoordinated, ineffective media buys.
And yet, we're supposed to believe that our complex budget and tax code issues are best addressed by the ideas (well, actually they are more akin to recycled platitudes) these math and science challenged simpletons come up with. I'm surprised they don't have a poster of Michelle Bachmann riding a dinosaur down Pennsylvania Avenue to deliver their budget plan. The Democrats are more than complicit in our financial woes, but this current crop of GOP leaders need to prove that they are rational before an increasing number of Americans are going to listen to them. There are good, reasonable, extremely intelligent Republicans in this country - why can't get more of them in front of a microphone?
Very simply put node4. Because reasonable, intelligent people don't stand at the podium screaming and foaming at the mouth. They're drowned out by those at the podium.
If you were to throw out the voters who voted against Obama, it is enormously huge. And I'm not talking about everybody that voted for Romney, I'm talking those who voted "anybody but Obama". These are the voters who would have voted for Mickey Mouse, Kim Jong il or Adolf Hitler rather than vote for Obama. Estimates to be somewhere between 15-20% of the population. These people voted Romney because he wasn't Obama. They didn't really vote "for" Romney. Just look at the Republican primaries. The vast majority voted against Romney. And the vast majority of those who voted against him voted vehemently against him.
If you counted those who actually voted "for" a Presidential candidate, Obama did win by a landslide. Remember, the Tea Party wasn't for Romney at all, they were against Obama. And a big part of the racist South didn't vote "for" Romney either, they voted against the Black guy.
You can say that it is the same thing in the end, but it really isn't. Romney didn't lose because he was the slightly less attractive candidate. He lost because very few people, relatively speaking, actually voted "for" him. That is not to say that a few Obama votes weren't "anti-Romney" votes, but for the most part the Obama voters chose Obama. The other side was nothing like that.
No doubt, Obama still has a great deal of opposition now after the election and before he even starts his second term. Doesn't matter what he does in a second term, these people will still be against him. These are the people who are now already talking secession and/or impeachment. If you think these people voted "for" Romney, you are just fooling yourself. Bottom line, as a matter of choice, it was a landslide victory.
Dennis..."In 2016 or by 2020 ... Democrats will only need to carry 12 states to win.
As many of the heavily populated states will vote Democrat, we will have for all practical purposes cease to exist as a representative republic. We will then be, for all practical purposes, a democracy, which is two wolves and sheep voting on what's for dinner. Which is exactly what the Framer's fully intended to avoid.
Careful what you wish for. You just might get it. And if you're the sheep, you're not going to like it.
@1NewDay: you make a very good point. People who supported Obama quietly went about their business, sent in their individual contributions, and then voted for something they believed in. Romney didn't have that many supporters - look how few people have leaped to his defense since the election - he was just not Obama (or "that black guy") to the majority of the GOP. I'm truly concerned by the code words and blatant racial tone of the far right's opposition to President Obama. Just last night, I heard a guy hawking a book on "Obama's secret plan for a 3rd term and what you can do to prepare for it" on my local right wing talk radio station; pretty sad that people are stupid enough to spend money on that.
Obama's campaign went for voter suppression. His $500 million in attack ads in the swing states was effective in suppressing the republican moderate vote which gave Obama the victory. Lying, cheating, stealing (redistributing) are acceptable when the mainsteam media takes sides. Obama was the candidate of the mainstream media and they protected and promoted their candidate. The Democrat party which runs both the Washington Post and NBC were effective.
The wrong people voted.
Good excuse, it's bound to work better than "the dog ate my homework."
"I was pretty surprised at how ineffective our voter suppression efforts were, " Ryan observed glumly. "After all, if you took all of state level chest thumping and boasting by the Republican secretaries of state in the swing states at face value, you would have expected a better performance. I mean... that sort of turnout by the minorities was just totally unacceptable."
The Republican chairman in Maine blamed the minority vote here for Obama's victory. Our population is 95.4% White and Webster claimed "dozens and dozens" of unknown Black people showed up to vote in small towns in Maine. Apparently, he thinks a group of Black people registered in multiple towns and went around voting over and over again, just to give Obama a victory here.
I suppose the pollsters could have been in on the plot. They would have had to be, because the final vote matched the percentage of Mainers who approved of Obama's job performance.
Despite trying to keep minorities from voting, they voted and turned out and wouldn't be kept away.
Republican efforts at suppression were a waste of time and money.
Huge money! Hee hee!
How's that pink tutu looking on you lately?
Do you have any source for Ryan saying that? I think this is a bunch of crap. How do you explain all the voter fraud?
rmoonrock,
Have you ever heard of Sarcasm? Of course Ryan never said that, if he did and there were any proof to substantiate it, the Republican party would be disolved.
Voters fraud on the GOP side period. Dems just when about business and voted to kick that GOP azz.
Show me one voter fraud that was for the GOP. I can show you several that were for Obama.
Here's the link for Ryan's quote moonrock: www.whyrepublicansdon't getsarcasmaretheylikestupidrobotsorsomething.com
Yep I am dumb and stupid and don't get stupid sarcasm. I just think I will hunker down with my food and ammo and wait for the riots to start. Isn't that what you think us dumb republicans do? At least I am not stealing from the future children of this great country. I feel bad that they will not know how great America could have been.
There were ballot misprints in Florida. There were misdirections to the polls in several states, there was misinformation regarding voter ID in Pennsylvanis, there was restriction of early voting and voter hours in Ohio. All by Republicans. In fact, the only real voter fraud was that propogated by Republicans.
It was well reported, moonrock. Just because you chose not to read it, and continue to choose not to accept it, does not mean it didn't happen.
All I know is for the past 4 years we heard nothing but how much the Obama's are spending on this and that trip. So answer me this GOp/TeaParty How much did you all spend on this election? I guess you can't buy the President seat after all. Time to grow a pair and move on.
What voter fraud? Links, please? Credible links, please?
"Show me one voter fraud that was for the GOP. I can show you several that were for Obama."
Charlie,
How about 13 GOP-controlled legislatures voting to add new ID requirements, after making non-driver's license ID's harder to obtain, with less than two weeks to do so in some cases. How about Ohio's literally last days changes in early voting rules? Or Florida's closing of polls on Sunday, Nov. 4, to supress the Black vote. Or bundles of voter registrations found in the trash in both California and Florida (from workers for a GOP-hired voter recruitment firm). Or letters sent to minority voters in Florida claiming their registrations were void or illegal; from Washington state.
If we really wanted to reduce or eliminate voter fraud (which most estimates place at less than 0.1%), we would make Election Day a mandatory national holiday, with pay. We should eliminate early voting. Only military personnel deployed outside their districts, on-duty public safety employees (police, fire, EMT's) and hospital staffers on-duty Election Day would be allowed to cast absentee ballots. Patients of nursing homes and hospitals and non-felon inmates would have their absentee votes collected by a travelling set of poll workers, who could also adjudge whether the person was mentally competent to vote (no Alzheimers or impaired); this protection, a huge hole, does not exist today. All ballots should follow a uniform national standard layout and data output at all levels. Each voter should be required to self-identify at voting by dipping a digit in semi-permanent ink (or for amputees, a die mark on their torso). And every machine should produce a unique, identifiable coded receipt (think lottery tickets) which the voter should be able to check at a reader within the polling station to confirm accuracy. Finally, no election results reported until at least 24hr. after the last national polling (Guam, maybe?) has closed.
Things to avoid: Non-certified poll workers or private parties collecting votes in nursing homes and retirement centers - an open invitation to fraud. Some may object to the mark of the "beast"; but it is used across the third-world - to which current critics compare us. A uniform ballot layout and data format means that any machine can be used, as long as it produces the required receipt. If a recount needs to be held, we could have a revote instead, using the receipts. And delaying coverage negates the 'bandwagon effect' that we have seen in some elections. Do I really need to explain NO internet voting?
Not an all-inclusive list, but at least a reasonable starting list.
I think the voter suppression efforts by the Republicans backfired on them. The "urban vote" got pissed, and more determined. Thank You GOP. We couldn't have done it without all your hard work.
wow, you people really are proudly stupid aren't you? voter suppression? don't you need an ID to cash your welfare checks? Or drive a car? Or open a bank account? But I guess it's asking way too much to have an ID. As I read the comments from you divisive @!$%#s, it just makes me sad that there are so many profoundly stupid people in the US. The red head moron in Illinois has nothing better to do than troll the message boards to be the first one to comment. Sad. I guess she needs something to do before Oprah and Jerry Springer come on.
Yeah, just ignore all the court cases Republicans lost in the run up to the election...they don't mean anything.
Meanwhile continue working to spread those Conservative talking points...that worked so well in the 2012 elections.
@hussformes: so why is the voter i.d. issue suddenly a problem in only the last 4 years? the rules were in place for the bush's, regan and it wasn't a problem...suddenly it's a front burner issue. why?
think about it.
answer, there was no one that they hated enough to go through the effort. they changed the rules in such a way that the net effect would be felt in a negative way by democrats. it's the timing of when they decided it was a problem that gives you a clue of what it's intent is.
Hussien messiah---------You said " Message boards "
You must be pretty old.
I don't know who started using that term for comment threads on the WWW but I see it all of the time..
These comment threads on the Web are cool..
You are not..
"Message boards" just sounds like something my Grandpappy would say...
Like it is an actual " Board " like you see at the supermarket, Post office , Laundry Mat etc. where you pin things to it you would like to sell or services you have to offer...
Please keep calling it that(So we will know you are a old fogey) and stop being jealous of Feisty Red Head just because she knows how to manage the "Internets".....Hate will get you no where , not even on the " Message boards"
Liberal definition of voter suppression: Requiring anyone to show proof that they are eligible to vote.
Again, the courts don't seem to see it that way.
Of course facts rarely get in the way of a Conservative's preferred message.
Despite Paul Ryan’s claim that the “urban areas” were a principal reason for President Obama’s win, the president actually lost votes off his 2008 totals in population centers in swing states he won -- Ohio, Virginia, and Pennsylvania.
--------------
Sure, the "numbers" guy not being able to read numbers. Whooda thunk it?
Democrats typically run up the margins in population centers, and President Obama is no different. But it wasn't unusual or particularly high.
-------------------------
Translation, people who actually live in areas with other humans by in large vote Democrat. Conversely, people who live in sparsely human populated areas and spend a majority of their day observing the reproductive rituals of small to large animals tend to vote Republican.
Voters are more sophisticated with the 24 hour news cycle. There is more access to information about who is telling the truth and who isn't. Also, the usual head fake (go hard right and reset to the center) failed.
Anybody that read his so-called "plan". That made it painfully obvious he was NOT a "numbers" guy.
Yet most people don't know what the major parts of the health care reform bill actually contains, even though that information is readily available. In reality, most people are uninformed and misinformed (on both sides of the aisle probably equally).
boom! reason,
Ignorance of Obamacare is largely due to two things.
First, many media outlets employ more commentators than reporters today. I actually believe that Nixon would have gotten by with Watergate in our 21st century media... Where would Bernstein and Woodward be found? What publisher would have tolerated such a slow story? And commentators make their money telling us what to think, not what the legislation actually says and does.
Second, the sheer volume of the bill prohibits commercial media from publishing the bill in its entirity. Even at 16 pages of dry bill language per broadsheet, 200 broadsheets would be required to publish the entire bill. And the language used would discourage even third-year law students. Think a combination of "Moby Dick" and "War and Peace", but without action or romance.
However, I do believe that the 24hr cycle worked against the Tea Party, as its more extreme adherrents and their even more extreme views were revealed. Even FOX could not always suspend disbelief.
Are Romney and Ryan going to be whining about the election results a year from now? President Obama won for cripes sake....get over it!!!!
Oh no, Ryan is a "power broker" now don't forget.
I mean really, who was the last VP nominee from either Party that got arse thumped in the general, somehow become the guy with all the chips at is disposal?
I remember when people were laughing at Gore not winning TN...not withstanding, the man hadn't even lived in the State in years. But for the sake of comparison, Ryan lives and breathes Wisconsin and they were no where close to winning the State.
Both of these men were losers from the get go.
Obama is still whining over the Bush years and is STILL trying to place blame....4 YEARS LATER!!! Sorry, OBucko, you now OWN this horrendous economy!!
HopeisGone-
I'm sure that is one Rush Limbaugh talking point you want to see repeated over and over until it becomes reality.
Unfortunately, the Bush Recession will forever be known as the Bush Recession, very similar to how Hoover and his administration's policies are still viewed to this day as having caused the Great Depression.
President Obama will always be known as inheriting the Bush Recession and fixing the Bush Recession.
The President's policies have pulled America out of the recession; i.e. over 33 months straight job growth, lower unemployment rate, housing starts are up, and consumer confidence is also up.
By the time this President has left office, he will be know as the President who pulled this nation up out of the Bush Recession and helped to create prosperity again for the Middle Class.
And BTW, his name is two-term Democrat President Barack Obama. Please show some respect.
Salud
The difference is that Bush and republican trickle down economics DID cause the recession. Things have been getting better and better, and that is despite all republican attempts to obstruct EVERYTHING. Sorry, hopeisgone, but republicans just can't get let off the hook for their failures, it takes years to get out of such a deep recession.
Tomas...Obama has grossly increased the deficit and spending, the unemployment rate is stagnant, housing starts are lousy, we have more Americans on food stamps than ever before, and consumer confidence (along with the stock market) has plummeted since the election......this is the slowest recovery in all of HISTORY......do you live under a rock???
lib...you need to get off that Kool-Aid!! ...Please tell me what has improved since Obama took office? ....please, what indicator has gotten better as a result of something Obama did? This is a Twinkies economy and YES, IT IS OBAMA'S FAULT!!!!!! China is building the world's tallest building in 2 years.....Obama can't learn to even tie his shoe in 4....go figure......
HopeisGone-
Sorry, amigo but everything you stated above is a complete fabricated lie.
Once again, you are wrong. Liberals don't use Kool-aid. Koo-aid is the prefered drink of Tea Party folks like yourself. It is apparent that you drink the Kool-aid in extensive amounts.
And no, once again, it is George W. Bush's fault, proving you have an inherent inability to come to grips with reality and accept the truth.
Well, I for one am very happy to see your response as more proof that the Tea Party is imploding on itself by the minute.
Continuing the same-old Karl Rove blogging tactics I see.
Poor Karl. He still can't accept the fact that he screwed up this election BIG time, and now wants all his blogging lemmings to keep the "status quo" and pretend like nothing happened.
And just like an obedient subservient, you oblige.
This election proved that the majority of American's
More proof that it is YOU that drinks the Kool-aid.
The majority of American's hate people like yourself, and are sick and tired of the right-wing bloggers blatant lying, twisting of facts, demonizing Democrats and spewing Rush/Hannity/Drudge BS.
The more you keep flapping your pie-hole with your lies and hate, the more Democrats will keep winning election after election.
Buh - Bye.

Hope, Shhhhh they are right! Everything is getting better, and we need for President Barrack Obama to accellerate his agenda. We need to keep this economy improving as it is with leaps and bounds. I do want to see him "invest" in as many "projects" as possible as fast as possible. We need to see this agenda in its full glory pre 2014 mid terms. So lets goooooo get on with it. Start with bailing out all failing cities and hiring all laid off firemen/police/teachers into a government Corps espirit jobs that are suitable and please address all the Latinos since they feel you promised them something. I look forward to the progress thats going to be made!
What this country really needs is men and women who will stand up and fight for themselves and their children and everyone else. Instead what we have is a country that is only concerned about themselves as an individual. Who cares if I get food stamps and all sorts of government help. It does not hurt anyone. Besides the rich are not paying their fair share. Nevermind that the rich pay most of the taxes and these people pay nothing. They only take. They take from others and even borrow against the children of the future. Such brave people.
But the GOP think a deep deep recession should take 1 months to come back to full employment. = Stupid
GOP = Epic Fail
President Obama kick that azz and now he is your President too weather you like it or not. We hated bush but he was the President. You hate President Obama but he's not your President. Strange. Could it have something to do with his skin color? YES
Go home Epic FAIL
I think 100% of the country should go on food stamps........
You think the American people are so stupid that you the GNOP can change words to mask the racial hatred you have in your heart. Luckily for you you did not know the internet was up and running. Finding the truth is to easy now a days. And stupid GOP have no clue what hit them. Hint the Internet did dumb azz the internet did.
Just to help you keep up with the times follow nanotechnology and maybe someday you will catch up to the DEMS.
HopeisGone,
It's unfortunate that you refuse to look at the real history. It took 8 years for this country to destroy all the consumer protection and monopoly regulation to allow big business and corporations to shift everything that made this country great overseas.
Labor unions are NOT innocent, by any means, and they are equally responsible for reducing profit margins to the point where many businesses were forced to take actions that limit the effects of the unions. The problem is, the changes allowed greed to take root and undermine FAIR labor practices. IF big business and corporations had one ounce of fiscal responsibility, they wouldn't have used Bush's stimulous money to pay for expensive trips, conventions and bonuses for the people who tried to bankrupt most of the banks and security firms Bush attempted to bail out.
Yes, I said Bush, the $800 Billion was earmarked by BUSH not Obama. Obama put controls on the Stimulous money Bush proposed, to allow for reasons for the money and a plan for those companies to pay it BACK.
There is the $Trillion the GOP/TP has been crediting Obama with for the last three years, along with the recession that started in 2007! Not to mention the $Trillions for the two front war we have been fighting for the last decade. Bush promised that Oil money we received from the profits in Oil contracts from Iraq would pay for our military efforts there and in Afghanistan. Yeah, that happened.
I would go on food stamps but I do not qualify. I own something so they tell me I have an asset that disqualifies me. So I should just sell the asset even though it has been in my family for years. My children would eat better then. Funny thing how most farmers do not qualify for food stamps.
moonrock, you can sit there and feel sorry for yourself, or, you can come and help us rebuild the country. Be a part of it instead of just criticizing it.
I am all for helping rebuild this country. What can I help with? Good luck getting the food stamp, sit back and blame Bush and the rich, Obama supporting people to do anything though. They just want hand outs. They don't want to actually earn a living. They might actually have to pay taxes then.
Fielden, A great positive word! Please come to Detroit and take that message door to door. Please! They will welcome you with open arms!
...the numbers for Bush's last three months. Between October and November, 597,000 jobs were lost; between November and December, 681,000 were lost; and between December and January, 741,000 were lost.
April 2012 marks the 26th straight month of gains in private-sector employment, for a total of 4.2 million private-sector jobs.
DJIA Dec 26, 2008 8515

Dec 29, 2008 (Bloomberg) U.S. corporate earnings fell for a sixth-straight quarter, the longest streak in at least 20 years, as consumer spending on automobiles, homes and retailers collapsed.
May 11, 2012 Fortune magazine released its ranking of the 500 biggest US corporations Monday, which showed that they received a record-breaking $824 billion in combined profits in 2011, up 16 percent from 2010.
Yep! That's pretty horrendous compared to the Bush years! I'll bet he hates owning that!
Currently the GOP is like a group of small boys peeing into a pond. No matter how hard they try, their streams cannot go that far. There is always one or two who mess themselves. And while some of the rest may sink a foating leaf; none can see any real difference after they are done. Within seconds - minutes, the water is clear again, with no discernable taste. There's just too much water in the pond. But peeing in a mud-puddle just gets the boys shoes and pants legs dirty. To have an affect, they need to find just the right size water to pee in.
The pool the GOP chose (evangelicals, fundamentalists, the 1-2-or 5%) was just too small, and too much rainwater (voter education from sources other than FOX or Rush) fell on it to make it truly effective. Increasing the size of the pool is going to require more boys and different rules.
Another Lame excuse for losing the election. Debunked!!
Voting was down in Ohio and Pennsylvania. States where the GOP suppressed voting. Someone should look into that.
It's a lot less exciting the second time around.
Racist Paul Ryan was WRONG about his "urban vote" claim as he has been wrong about so much else in his ignoble political career. And he is supposed to be the "brains of the Republican party"!
Maybe, just maybe if the Republican party would do more to make it easier for people vote, then just maybe their old dying base would be able to vote and keep them in power. They refuse to understand since most of their based are over 65, they cannot and did not stand in line for hours to vote. The very people they tried to stop from voting did. This is just one example of how the republican party does not have a clue to what the American people want.
All over the airwaves for the past few days, I have heard Republicans saying that, "we have to appeal to a wider range of Americans", and I can't help but wonder, just how are they going to go about doing that ? The whole belief system of the Republican Party, has forever been " Conservatism ", and what they have been the most concerned about "conserving", is the PAST. They have never believed that people "of color", not to mention Women, would ever have a significant voice, in this Nation's election process. They have been determined for DECADES, to focus almost exclusively on the WHITE VOTE, and they have also, it seems, not taken much notice of just how much the population has GROWN, and diversified, since the 1950's, which is the period in time, that they seem to want to "conserve", or revert to, the most ! At least that is the impression that they give, when they talk about " Taking Our Country Back ", because this is the rhetoric that follows that particular statement; "end Roe v Wade", "outlaw same sex marriage", "get rid of the Dept. of Education", "get rid of the E.P.A.", get rid of Medicare", "privatize Social Security", "get rid of the Dept. of Energy", "de-regulate Wall Street", "get rid of the Capital Gains Tax", "de-fund or get rid of Planned Parenthood", "end the separation of Church and State", "deny Women affordable contaception", and on, and on, and on ! I thought that this was the"UNITED STATES OF AMERICA", not the "CONSERVATIVE STATES OF THE REPUBLICAN PARTY" ! Since when did it become, "THEIR COUNTRY"?? I thought it was...... ONE Nation, INDIVISIBLE, with LIBERTY, and JUSTICE for ALL ! Not "Liberty and Justice for SOME"!!! The Republicans have a really LONG road to travel, if they want to "appeal" to a wider demographic of this Country, and truly, "join the 21st Century". And on that note......... To my friends here on the vine... Feisty, Layton, Rustyboy fla., Tomas G., Pat Boston MA., NDDR, TNSEVOL, Jody,Iowa, kaybeetoys, Indy Red., and to all the folks at FR, have a VERY safe and HAPPY THANKSGIVING !!!!
blueinut49,
The GOP could start by disavowing the Tea Party and Grover Norquist and his ilk. This election has demonstrated the large purses don't always work (King in Me. and Donelly in In.). But painting yourself with unpopular candidates because the are the darling of small groups will almost assure failure. Further, the experience faced by those in GOP-controlled states, helped lead some voters to a different vote.
Do not confuse the re-election of some extremists candidates with an overwhelming endorsement. There can be little doubt that racism, disappointment at being left out of progress or in a failing industry, or over-reaching preaching that a white heretic is better than a black "muslim." Certainly this was the case in the coal-fields.
But over time, the coal-fields will realize that this was less politics and more "progress." Just as we all may realize that "fracking" is not the answer either. But as the realities sink in, votes will change.
BlueNUT or whoever
Yea look at history,White people(Republicans) fought slavery...that thing the Democraps couldn't wrap their head around, couldn't imagine not having a slave was just harsh for you guys, but hey you managed, and now you have pretended to be their champions,What a joke,as history repeats its self, you guys lie and replace reality with your own story's (ie:lies) Those that have cared to educate themselves have found out the founder of planned parenthood was really after destroying the undesirable in society, and people of color were on her hit list,Those of color, told by their clergy that the Democrats AreNot their friends, have been met with shunning, character assignation and outright lies against them by the Left by Rev Jackson and Sharp-ton neither one should claim to be men of God the way they encourage Hate and racism against anyone who disagrees with their agenda, and they are not by any stretch should even be considered Relevant, much less to be looked at for guidance,That's where the racism and hate is at,This generation of voters does not look at color the way the Left says the right does,The right has proven thru action that they truly care about every ethnic group, not for what they can get or do for them like the left does,I have found just about everything the Left claims about the Right is like a cheating boyfriend or Girlfriend, they always talk Sh** and accuse the other of being the lier and cheat when in reality it's the accuser doing what they are accusing of the innocent party,in this case the Right is the jilted one,the left the cheater and lier at every turn, and I don't want to be associated with any of the wolves in sheepskin clothing.
....so the news is out....George Soros is investing heavily in gold, betting against the US dollar and hoping the US economy further falters.....no wonder he was such a huge supporter of Obama!
Hope
I feel sorry for you. Your world must be a very sad, sad place. I have known people like you who constantly blame others for their lot in life. They constantly refuse to accept reality and, in the famous words of Mitt Romney, 'take responsibility for their life'.
But don't fret, Obamacare is coming and you will be able to get some therapy. I highly suggest you do. Living life as a pessimist, always complaining, always seeing the bad, isn't good for your heart and probably means you have few friends because you are a pain to be around.
It's very sad. If I were a Christian I would pray for you. Hey, maybe you are a Christian and could pray for yourself!
Sure; he's betting that all you RWNJ chicken-littles (The sky is falling! The sky is falling!) will invest in gold in preparation for 'Obamarmageddon'.... LOL
dsb...are you so blinded by facts that you refuse to accept reality??? You obviously are lacking a bit in the "education" department and must not have much life experience to fall back upon. I suggest you lay off of the drugs for a bit and get yourself a job....mommy and daddy are not going to be able to support you forever!
HopeisGone,
Did you take your Meds today?
If not the drug store wants a refund because you are RWNUTS
Who would buy gold right now? It's overvalued and just waiting to drop.
GOLD,
The only element known to cause more dementia than mercury.
Buying Gold is preparing for the crash that Obama has invited America to,so yea I've doubled my money already so make fun all you want, when you can't buy any gas or food because your money isn't worth squat Thankx to the hot off the press Dollars Obama and his cronies keep printing,I'll be able to help my Family(Im a breeder) and my friends and community be able to survive. So good luck to all you Brainwashed fools,I hope to have enough to feed YOUR children who are starving Thankx to the Lier and Cheat their parents voted into his executive appointed position of Lord to half of America...You all have created a monster.
Yeah, that's what the Koch brothers' Daddy convinced the John Birchers of in the 1970s as well. The were pimping a return to the Gold Standard way back when.
Then the price of precious metals dropped by over half in the early/mid 1980s.
The House appears to be a strangely manipulated part of government. It has the most frequent and large pendulum swings back and forth over time which was I think somewhat wanted by the founders so districts view changes can be expressed quickly with the 2 year stints. However it appears to be the tool with gerrymandering abuse along with the fillibuster for powerful/rich extreme folks (who have unlimited money donation power with Citizens United gift by 5 repub Sup judges) to gain control over most of gov. Also this giving a single senator the power to stop appointments and maybe other things in senate is a little crazy when that senator may represent only a million residents of their state or less vs. the 300+million of us. Guess you can't blame the 220 year old Constitution for being able to foresee a 2012 USA compared to 13 states back then.
Hey Fiesty-SHUTUP
Hey Duane M - SHUTUP
My dog received a voter ID from democratic office, as did my garden scarecrow Joe.......outcome explained!
Could you please post pictures of your dog and scarecrow IDs here? Or do they exist?
@Bob10
Dam you stupid
And yet, they never showed up to vote.
Just like every other supposed case of voter registration fraud, the dead person/animal may be registered, but they never vote.
Don't most "voter IDs" (whatever that means) need to come from "the government?" Something makes me think "you're lying."
Put up or shut up! Show us a scan!
[crickets chirping]
Yeah, that's what I thought!
LIAR!
It seems like every assessment by Mr. Ryan is just plain wrong.
Ya Think
LYIN RYAN is his name and don't forget it.
I am glad Obama won. Now libs can see and experience first hand his and the libs disastrous policies. I hope I am wrong, but I was spot-on as to the last four years. This is Obama economy now...
Now?
The last four years of him not doing what you were told that he would do never made you think to yourself, "hmm, I guess he won't do all that stuff radio personalities told me he would do on day one"?
Obama may be the best president for the gun industry. All it takes for a sales boom is for him to be elected. Sales boom 4 years ago and sales boom this time.
Strangely absent is him actually taking your guns. The pundits are bought by the gun industry to trick you into buying guns.
Yes, this is the Obama economy now, the one that has already produced more jobs in four years than Bush did in eight. So work with us or shut it and get out of our way, America is going forward whether or not you come along.
Obama was re-elected.....he now OWNS this economy. Sorry, libs, you can no longer blame Bush when Obama continues to fail over the next 4 years.....For the sake of our country, I hope not....but I also know better................
As long as this economy is a mess with no Jobs help from the GNOP this will forever be the bush economy and will go down in history as such.
You need to get out and read some more fool.
quit blaming bush loser....you have your chosen one for another four years and seriously i hope he is successful beyond all our dreams......but the reality is, obama is an ideologue and incapable of leadership...
If there are any issues in 2016, and a republican wins, I fully expect all republicans to own the problems from day one and not blame Obama. Anything short of this would by hypocrisy.
Sorry, he didn't fail over the first 4!

No, the failure was Bush! And even the Republican party knows this! When was the last time that a living ex-president didn't campaign for his party's candidate for president? Where was George W. Bush during this election?
If President Obama failed his first 4 (as the TP tried hard to make happen) then I wonder how he was able to get America to re-elect him? Even the Republican hired voter fraud companies could turn the tide.
It is now beginning to become clear to me why the Republicans deliberately threw the last two Presidential Elections. It's obvious that they didn't want to deal with the results of an eight year Pres. Bush administration, the increasing military and economic problems in the world and societal problems at home in the U.S. Why else would they have allowed a proven non-native-born Kenyan Muslim socialist (see evidence by D.Trump, Sheriff Arpaio) to run for and become President?
That's the only explaination that I can think of.........
(I had better add that this is sarcasm.....since some people reading this other places have taken me seriously.....)
After President Obama swear-in for his second term..................On day # 1 we will get rid of Romney for good......bad-stale-news (obsolete)....one for the history book.
As for Speaker Boehner, Rep Ryan & Senator McConnell.............they will be rigorously & extensively treated for infection of "ROMNESIA".
mcpaddywack--O
Paddy_wacko!!!.........this sound like first-hand experience........were you first in the queue?
the election outcome was determined by the amount of free government cheese doled out to the freeloaders......simple
PADDY, Free cheese??? By that I assume you mean the incredible tax breaks that the GOP insists on giving the rich, coupled with huge tax subsidies for Corporate America, including some of the most profitable companies like Exxon/Mobil???
Evidently in your twisted world, assistance to poor and working class people is atrocious is "Socialism" but giving freebies to the uber rich is somehow OK.
Guess what fella? We had an election based upon these very subjects and your crowd lost, thank god.
hey ozzie boy.......you don't know me..........
paddy - and in turn you don't know much about Democratic voters...
Nobody does, do they? Just who are you? Somebody living in mom and dad's basement? That's a real "job creator"!
Now we know where the cheese in McPaddy's head came from.
Didn't that free Government cheese thing happen quite some time ago? Perhaps paddy has been in his parents basement cutting his cheese since then.
Some analyze why the Republicans lost others try to analyze why the Democrats won. Some will try to understand why the Dems retained the Senate but lost the House. Analysis, analysis, analysis. The simple fact is that people voted the way they did for various reasons. If the election were held today with even a small change in who voted the results could be quite different. They are what they are now let's move on.
This prez and his admin has put a bigger wedge between the minorities and others than any other admin. He and this groups of idiots in DC have ruined our economy worse than any other admin. He and his gang of clowns have received the lowest approval rating ever and you idiots put them back in power and are happy and gloating about it. As long as that free stuff keeps coming in you don't care. Believe all the promises these POS's promised you and keep being in la-la land. Think about it Hispanics--when all of your people come flooding over the border what is it going to be??????? Mexico you idiots. You ruined your country and now you want to let the illegals ruin this country. All of you that have become citizens the right way how long DO YOU want to support these others who abuse the law to their benefit?????? Someday everyone will wake up and see it is impossible to continue like this. The debt has to be paid at sometime but you drone sheep dems just keep following the messiah and keep wanting to blame repubs for all your problems. When you finally wake up and see that it is a total effort by both of these BS parties to ruin the US for their own greed and power I hope it is not too late.
BOB, oh how I do love to hear you Nazis whine. It brings a smile to my face every time one of you Reich Wing loons begins spewing their vitriol. Please don't stop, I'm having way too much fun.
Look ozzie BOY if I could find you I would knock you on your kiester you idiot. Is jackasses like you that really make me sick. You are the reason this country is falling apart because big mouths like you think this whole deal is funny and you call others names. When I was young and went to school if I even thought crap like you just spewed from your mouth the best that would happen is I would only get disciplined from a teacher. You are too stupid to see what actually living under the conditions of the nazi's was so you make stupid ass remarks which shows your mentality is that of a BOY
BobM.=Archie Bunker
sw=idiot. I suppose you want to defend boy who had not one comment about my post but started calling names and making accusations the same as you. Do you 2 even know about the atrocities of WWII and what Hitler and the nazi's did to people or haven't you made it that far in school yet. I am very offended by his comments even more so than if he would have called me an obama supporter. You people have no pride in the US or in yourselves you just want what is given to you. If you have constructive comments or rebuttal let's hear them but don't defend another idiot like boy.
sorry bobby, Ozzie's right. Your gang's future in trying to run things in the U.S. is pretty limited, get used to it. Why are you threatening anyone, anyway? You're outnumbered here. And I bet Ozzie's bigger than you, too.
Hey middle what you dems hang together or what. Boy never said a word about my post or anything about who is running things. He just opened his big mouth and started throwing out insults. I would not have minded if he would have picked apart my post that is why we put our opinions on here to get feed back but if you are good with the things he said I don't need to hear from you either. You don't call people nazis because you don't agree with their opinions. And you refer to my gang--who is that--my gang. You mean people who want to see the United States stand tall again and once again be a nation we can all be proud of. And I beg to differ I am not outnumbered. And who cares if the boy is bigger? I know from the way he talks he doesn't have a lot of experience. Oh and by the way just notice that big ozzie boy never responded but you 2 others did. What the boy can't defend himself so you feel the need to jump in because you can't think of your own things to say.
@bobm who said:
"You mean people who want to see the United States stand tall again and once again be a nation we can all be proud of."
Do you mean standing tall like the USA did after the great Roosevelt led us through WW2? Or standing short like Bush/Cheney led us through with the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan? Or tall like your Great Reagan led us through with the war in Grenada? Or tall like Bush/Cheney who didn't actually catch or kill the terrorists who attacked us. But instead of terrorized its own people and the world with the code Red, Orange, Yellow crap. Or do you mean standing tall like Bush/Cheney did by leading us into a new Great Depression (which The Great Obama quickly extracted us from). Standing tall indeed. The USA stands tall in the world once again because it finally has a competent leader who the world respects and trusts. And not empty gas bags spewing hate and division.
Your tall is my short dude!
Arapio, and Taitz are certifiable nutjobs with racist axes to grind. Trump is a con-man, huckster & lunatic who launders illegal money for the New York and Jersey mobs, in shady Real Estate deals that he has been under constant investigation for. President Obama humiliated him publicly in front of his friends and wife. And he is just out for vendetta. Weird non credible sources dude.
Yes I would go back to the Roosevelt days when people would go hungry before they would ask their government for help. Back when a bunch of work programs were instituted so people could earn their money and not wait for the government to come hand it out. And back when people went to war because it was the way to defend out country and we were proud enough and brave enough to go and perhaps die for our country and our families. Oh and I guess you forgot about the war that started most of it in the middle east let me see was that Desert Storm which was a successfully carried out campaign by Bush. But like I said just bring up points that make you look good. And if you want to bring up people who discredit your party how about barney frank or anthony wiener. I mean face it attacking people within the parties is like hoping to find a criminal in prison. That isn't my point. My point is both parties put up racial barriers but the dems seem to want to make it look like it is just a repub thing. Think of how really ridiculous that is.
bobm - I would guess that the reason no one had much to say about your posts is that they really were pretty lame. Sorry that hurt you feelings but it is just more of the extreme, right-wing, racist, crazy conspiracy crap that just lost you an election. You accuse President Obama and other Democrats of the very thing your boys are guilty of. By the way, I haven't received my "gift" yet and I am a life-long, liberal Democrat. What's up with that?
In the last 6 Presidential elections the republican has received the most popular votes 1 time. I hope the GOP doesn't change a thing.
I hope they change everything so that I will actually have a decent party to pick on election day.
They show serious signs of denial, it's pathetic. Some of them are claiming if they just get a little more conservative things will go their way. Good luck with that!
Blame, blame, blame, explain, explain, explain. The fact is the GOP lost, so how about just shutting up and moving on?
Its a new day in America and most Americans do not want to chase after the past; that's why Obama won. One party recognized that four years ago; that's why Obama was nominated to begin with.
Can you say Democratic Marxism?
Enough of that crap!
Let me ask: who is more supportive of communism? Obama, who wants to extend the economic power of the middle class in this country? Or Romney, who has done more to create jobs in China, a communist country?
can't figure out why Obama won? Shop at Walmart, look at the obese knuckle-dragging national-Enquirer-reading ignorant slices of humanity waddling around with blank happy smiles - there you go!
Allan in Omaha - your demographic analysis is a bit off, but what does that matter? you live in f&*#ing OMAHA and you accuse rural people of voting American because they watch animals mate? You live in OMAHA NEBRASKA, oh little one - you're contributing, um, what, to this conversation?
A few reasons why Obama was re-elected:
1) He didn't send goons to break into Watergate
2) He didn't cut taxes on the rich and develop a deficit
3) He didn't get too friendly with his interns
4) He didn't waste lives and resources looking for WMDS that never materialized.
And all of those guys were re-elected.
No deficit?
Allow me to break this down for you:
AMH is listing four different presidents.
1 is Nixon
2 is Reagan
3 is Clinton
4 is W. Bush
I voted pro-American and am very happy how things turned out. And Omaha is actually a city, the band 311 hails from there and I believe they've even had gang problems - the midwest isn't one giant farm.
Now, to what does Walmart owe its success? Who has pushed more jobs to China? Who has done more to support a Communist government than Walmart? All in the name of the almighty God, PROFIT?
I don't shop at Walmart, do you?
Media seems constrained to avoid reporting the numerous votes of folks who are not citizens of the U.S.A. All illegals (i.e. criminals) are extremely well organized by Mecha and La Raza whose intent is very definitely to take over our nation.
The facts, however, are increasing and I figure will be publicized in in time. Those votes are illegitimate.
From everything I have read, it appears that Mr. Obama is a candidate for impeachment. Costly, but final. Why? He has broken the law more than once by effecting his personal decisions in opposition to the legal requirement that his action to start a war, for example, must be ratified by Congress first.
Bareck Obama is not the boss! We elect ... choose ... the president to assist implementing Congress's Laws ... i.e. US. The presidential position is actually like an Administrative Assistant. And our Administrative Assistant is starting wars without our permission.
Folks, we are the boss represented by Congress. Never forget that!!!
Congress hasn't passed a declaration of war since 1941...should almost every president since then have been impeached?
LOL the word "ratified" is the basis of an impeachment you refer to. Every prexy before Obama who had to use any military preventative actions when threats have been made verbally by enemies of the United States or any hot attacks on our allies or our territories ...... including President Bush on the occasion of 9/11, of course, which was an attack on our homeland.
Our return fighting since that is definitely viable therefore. There may be different wordings used, but Congress must be involved by law.
