Firebrand Rep. Allen West, R-Fla., said Tuesday he had conceded in his bid for re-election to Democratic challenger Patrick Murphy.
Fourteen days after Election Day, West, a favorite of Tea Party conservatives who had sought a recount and raised the prospect of inaccuracies in the results, said in a statement that his legal team "does not believe there are enough over-counted, undercounted or fraudulent votes to change the outcome of the election."
"While many questions remain unanswered, today I am announcing that I will take no further action to contest the outcome of this election," West said.

Republican Rep. Allen West speaks at a campaign stop with guests at SCORE South Palm Beach, a resource partner to the Small Business Administration, in Boca Raton, Fla. Oct. 18, 2012.
Murphy led by about 1,900 votes following a partial recount in the district.
He added a bit later on Fox News: "We're going to move ahead and we wish Congressman-elect Murphy very well, but I think that now is not the time to draw the process out."
West was a lieutenant colonel in the Army, during which time he served in the Iraq war. He successfully ran for Congress in 2010, aided by the Republican headwinds that year in his challenge to Democrat Ron Klein in a swing district. He sought re-election in a slightly more favorable district following the redrawing of congressional district boundaries prompted every decade by the Census.
The victory for Murphy adds to Democrats' pickup in the House, and disarms conservatives of one of their most brash voices in Congress. He, for instance, equated economic dependence upon government — through programs like Social Security — to slavery, and West called Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, a fellow Florida lawmaker, "vile" and "not a lady."
West's departure from Capitol Hill also means that that Congress will lose one of its two black Republicans. West and South Carolina Rep. TIm Scott, R, are the only two African American members of the GOP conference; West was the only Republican member of the Congressional Black Caucus.

I have to say, I would have loved to be in the room with staff as they tried to get West to understand that he lost. Can you imagine that conversation?
The question I have about that race is not that he got beat, but who on earth would have listened to West during his term in office, and not known that he is completely crazy? What would cause someone to vote for him? "Gee the guy is certifiably nuts, but by God I like him?"
There are folks who should stay away from the ballot box.
Newday, I picture some men in white coats being present. Perhaps one of them held a syringe and another put him in a straitjacket.
West lost. WE WON!!!! Good riddance to West who did more harm than good. Congrats to Patrick Murphy!
I see it the same way kaybeetoys! It must have been quite a sight!
Newday, people have been told for over 30years that government is bad, "the big lie" works so it really should come to no ones surprise that a lot of voters voted for this guy.
Anyway he's gone, move forward!
One less raving maniac in the House. Can we work on Louie Gohmert next? His IQ of 45 coupled with some kind of weird psychosis is just frightening.
Good riddance! Yes, it's astonishing how many people vote for people like Bachmann or Perry or Santorum. Or West. It's not based on any rational thought process, but on some deep-seated emotion.
I keep thinking about the arguments that must have taken place in caves tens of thousands of years ago, when a leader died and there was no apparent successor, and the tribe was faced by a threat from some external source--a neighboring, war-like tribe or a drought or something else. There was always resistance to those who wanted to stride forth into the light from those who wanted to shrink back deeper into the shadows. West and people like him play on others' fears, sometimes because they too are fearful, but more often because it is the only way they can gain power.
The nut job who sees communist everywhere gets the boot.....couldnt be happier
Semper Fi a$$hole
Allen West is a loose cannon. I predict he will move home to Georgia and run for Congress up there.
Ycaintuseait: You must be right. In any event, congrats to Murphy! Forward!
If only we could have also celebrated the exit of Michelle Bachman as well, who is equally offensive.
From an old saying, "GOODBYE TO BAD RUBBISH". This man was so offense to fellow Congressmen and especially to women, that he discussted a whole Nation. No wonder the Military threw him out.
Goodbye, so long and don't let the door hit you in the arse on the way out.
Hey, any of you people commenting Democrates?
Amen to that!
I know this is very off topic, but I would appreciate help from anyone who believes in free speech. I think I'll post this a couple of times; sorry. I first want to point out how great it is that NBC allows freedom of speech, and doesn't ban users who are non-insulting and non-obscene. That is not true of Fox Nation. I cannot get back on Fox, even under a different name. But if anyone else gets a chance to make an account there, I'd appreciate you putting up the following post (it is also entertaining to go there and be perfectly logical, but if you argue too logically and successfully, you'll be banned as well in a few days and find that you cannot log in again):
Dear Fox Nation posters. Recently a poster who used the name noncoms was banned from Fox. He was banned not because he used obscenity, nor because he personally insulted anyone. He was banned because he presented alternative information and viewpoints that Fox does not like. In its fine print, under the banner "ALL OPINONS WELCOME," Fox Nation says that it is only open to people who share their values. It is not healthy to limit political discussions to only one side. Please let Fox Nation know that you are not afraid of honest debate, and you do not need to be protected from differing opinions. In the meantime, please feel free to come to nbcnews and join the discussion there. NBC news is not afraid to present all opinions, if expressed without threats or obscenity.
It was racism. Pure and simple.
More good news:
No, Bucco. Democrates died at least two thousand years ago.
Palin, the Maverick, Slick Cheney and Mittens are sitting in a back room right now at Faux Entertainment trying to come up with yet another viable story to feed the contributors as to why the GOP got their butts handed to them. Originally it was because all those black folk, according to them, showed up to the polls en masse and voted only for black candidates .... oops ... West losing sure screws up THAT story!
Gee, y'all, it's simple. Americans voted for the BEST PERSON FOR THE JOB when we reelected President Obama!! Thank goodness West is back in his cave with the rest of the baggers licking his wounds because the sunshine state residents have come to their senses.
Noncoms, why in hell are you wasting your time with Fox News?
Noncoms, why in hell are you wasting your time with Fox News?
E Kent, I think Democrates died from eating some bad baklava.
Sorry for the double post. Computer hiccup.
Two hunters are out in the woods when one of them collapses. He doesn't seem to be breathing and his eyes are glazed. The other guy whips out his cell phone and calls the emergency services. He gasps: "My friend is dead! What can I do?"
The operator says: "Calm down, I can help. First, let's make sure he's dead."
There is a silence, then a shot is heard. Back on the phone, the guy says: "OK, now what?"
In a bit of shameless self back-patting, I must say that with West's concession and Ron Barber's apparent victory in Arizona, this puts the number of Democratic House seats at 200, which is what my daily analysis called prior to the election.
However, one caveat. There is still one House seat up for grabs here in NC, which means that the eventual total for the Democrats might be +8 and a total of 201.
Where do you see racism in the defeat of that wacko Alan West? I'm flummoxed that anyone of any race would have ever voted for him.
This is a step forward for Republicans - it took Al Franken (D) 6 months to be able to take office in Minnesota after he was elected by the people. The Republicans wasted all that time they could have used to help people have better lives.
Republicans do not care about you having representation in the government - they only care about their own jobs.
What's poor Democrates got to do with Allen West, though? I'm confused.
We almost got rid of Michele Bachmann, too. Oh, how sweet that would have been.
And good riddance to this gay-bashing, bigoted bitch. Even though I'm not one of his constituents (and thank goodness!), I'm still absolutely elated to see him leaving office.
Can we stop making the mistake of calling people who are devoted to the CON-game of republican politics "crazy"? Try to understand that they don't actually believe what they are claiming to believe. Alan West probably does dislike gays, but he doesn't actually believe that they are a threat to our nation. He probably does believe that most blacks are petulant and lazy, but he doesn't actually believe that they are communists. He is part of an enormous CONFIDENCE game. The entire Republican party is a band of GRIFTERS.
All I can say is "HOLY COW, FINALLY!" Congratulations, Patrick. Miracles DO happen-- and Allen West conceding is one of them.
That's pretty amazing, Michael. If there is one takeaway from this election, it is that preliminary analyses, if rigorous and mathematically sound, can yield amazingly accurate predictions.
I wonder how many seats the Democrats would have taken, if it weren't for the blatant gerrymandering that occurred after the census. I remember reading somewhere that, per the 2000 census and the resulting redistricting, Republicans had a natural advantage of +2 seats, while today they have an advantage of +11. That means that, using previous districts, it is quite probable that Democrats would have won around 17 seats. Even then, it would have been the third time since WWII that a party won the aggregate popular vote in the House elections, yet it failed to capture a majority of seats.
The only thing that's clear is that people are not happy with Boehner as the Speaker of the House. His counterargument to the President's mandate (that he himself and all House Republicans also have a mandate, after having kept a majority of seats in the House) is completely groundless. The people did not want a Republican-controlled House.
east coast It was racism.
I'm shocked you didn't cry voter fraud. That is the excuse that a allot republican/tea party folks have been saying. Good luck with that one.
The Koch brother's hand has been shown before they wanted us to know what they were up to with the Tea party witch they hi jacked and installed Dick Army. If we want to end this tea party Koch dynasty, we need to destroy Koch Industry completely. These people have to much money and to much power. This Election was a good start. I am calling on every Progressive in this country to boycott the Koch brothers. I have stopped buying anything from Koch Industry. The things I have found that was made by Koch. I am a builder and I have not used Koch's Structure board years ago. Even though it is made in Grayling MI. Dixie Cups. All there paper Products. I think we real american's should stick up for this country against the Rich people like the Koch brothers and all there rich friends that have these secret meetings trying to disrupt and buy the election. My God look at the tea party people they put up, Sharon Angle, this Gomer dude, Christine McDonald, Al West, Just look around the country. These guy's are so stupid, when trying to stop the Debt ceiling. The think is, That debt is from when the Rep's were in control under Little Bush. So these dumb asses want to default on Bushes debt, like the 2 wars Bush got us into. These people love wars that make the rich richer, But not they don't want to pay for them. If you want to play you have to pay.
so long neo-con aipac puppet. you and your big government tea-baggers that have destroyed the gop while vilifying Ron Paul are so much irrelevant trash now. thanks so much to those like you for helping a terrible president like obama be re-elected...
...a man of color? Gee, maybe elections are not as biased as Republicans say?
As a level of sanity/reasonableness returns to the electorate you have to wonder about the future of a political party that was so quick to embrace the craziness.
Allen should check his skills out on a hunting trip with Dick !!!!!!!!!
I am not a Democrat, but I'm glad West lost. I hope more of the far right/left candidates lose in 2014 and we get more centrists in office.
chuck boycott the koch brothers..............
Thats a great idea. Lets start it now!!! Boycott them all. papa john next gives away pizza but cuts hours so he doesn't want to pay a little a little more for his workers. Hey kochs & papa john its your workers who make you your money.
GREDDY PEOPLE SUCK!!!
My fellow Americans lets start the BOYCOTT with the koch brothers & papa john. Who are the other company's who are screwing their workers. This is the only way some people may listen by hurting their wallet.
Do you want fries with that?
A two-fer.
Out with the old, In with the new.
Another pick-up for the Democrats.
The only thing you can say regarding 'race', is that Alan West lost the election race.
Salud
Perhaps he was using an old Military saying "Never admit Defeat" or else his ego was so bruised that his "sub-conscious mind" couldn't comprehend what had happen.
Well, today is a good day for democracy.
Actually, two weeks ago was a good day for democracy. West is just very slow on the uptake.
This should make the Bob Byrd wing of the Democrat Party very happy. They despise Black Americans in any sort of position of power. (See Justice Clarence Thomas, Secretary Condoleezza Rice, Michael Steele, Mia Love, et. al.)
And it's not reserved exclusively to Black Republicans that the Bob Byrd Democrats can't tolerate.
These were the registered Democrats who voted for a jailed felon (Keith Judd) rather than President Obama in the Democrat primary! (37% of the vote in West Virginia!!)
Dr.Appel, if you're goimg to go that route then embrace this, Obama is the Master of Disaster and the Pinocchio in Chief who's been the most divisive prez ever. Never has this country been so split apart than now, the trophy for that distinction goes to him. A great leader and unifier of this nation he's far from being.
yea!!! the village got their idiot back!!!!
Wow Arthur66, still peddling that?
Oh, Arthur's story has a first name, it's O-S-C-A-R.
Arthur's story has a second name, it's M-A-Y-E-R.
Oh, he loves to shovel it every day, and if you ask him, why he'll say...
Cuz Oscar Mayer has a way with B-U-L-L-S-H-I-T!!
Tad: Don't blame the President for the country's split. Blame the recalcitrant, stubborn, ignorant racists that refuse to do their job and cooperate, compromise and work for this country INSTEAD of against our first freely-elected black president.
Grow up and MOVE FORWARD!
I imagine a Hitler in the bunker scenario with the loyal aides tip toeing around the crazy leader.
Time to Cleanse the GOP from American Soil with their hate & lies, their only priorities are looking for Fault and doing nothing to help our Economy !!!!!!!!!!!!!
This Florida Cong. District voters must be so happy it was garbage pick-up day. Don't forget to wave as the former Cong-man goes by ranting incoherently and get one last look at bat-sh1t crazy! Farewell, fool!!!!!
Wonderful news for Floridians and the rest of the country. These rwnj faux-legislators need to be smoked out and terminated. West spent more time bloviating about his "enemies" than he did working for the people who voted for him. ONE AND DONE. :)
I think in Florida at least the Republican Party will stay away from that charge. Sucks getting caught with your fingers in the
cookie jarballot box.Wow what a bunch of sheeple.
So the Democrats BUY the election by, promissing more welfare, free healthcare (which really isn't free, but you all swallow that), so-called immigration reform that is really amnesty for ILLEGALS to take more American citizens and legal immigrnats jobs away.
History has another group of politicians that tried to buy their way to keep power, the Roman Empire - their welfare program was called "bread and circuses" - promise the people free this and free that, keep them focused on entertainment and they will keep you in power forever. Only problem with that is who is going to pay for all this FREE stuff, the Romans found out - that just don't work. I can't wait to see who you all blame when the collapse happens - oh right it must be those nasty ol tea party people in the House of Representatives blocking every thing - You liberals are a joke and a sick one at that.
Hmmm, seems like folks just won't elect a competent black man.....just the other kind!
I wonder if it means anything to the Republicans that they only had two (one now) blacks in Congress? Nah, probably not.
Let me put this out there. I am PAST Democrat vs Republicans. Both parties have members that can be pretty shady, although the Republicans have clearly turned into a Horror Fest. I was really researching the option of asking Canada for asylum if Romney had been elected. I survived Bush; I didn't think I could endure a Romney regime where I would have to look at Eric Cantor's smirking face everyday.
Can we also have a Hand Clap for the demise of the "you lie" Joe Walsh!!! Maybe now he'll consider a stint at the Mayo Clinic for his mental disorder.
Am I rip roaring happy with the Dems? Heck, no! I'm still pissed over how the banks have been allowed to trash the country with impunity while hard working Americans suffered a loss of homes, home values, pension values, jobs, Fair Pay, etc. because of Banking Criminal Activity and Other Financial Crimes Against Humanity. How the Oil Companies are allowed to reach into our pockets at will to grab money upon any excuse--like it rained in California. How Clandestine Law Enforcement is allowed to monitor your computer and phone records despite basic principles of civil liberties. Did we hear any debate about this at all? No.
There's a lot of rotten stuff going on in Govt & Corporate America, so let's not get too happy over the demise of one idiot. There are plenty more on both sides who need to be called out.

We invite all Americans who share these values to join us here at Fox Nation.
I tried to post your letter on fox nation, but this is what I found. Since, I disagree with them on every issue, therefore, I like you, am not welcome on their site. Their title America's talking should read American Taliban is talking
To the original OP, it's a Southern thang. Just like Moon Pies & RC Cola. I mean would you vote for Newt Gingrish or a 90 year old Strom Thurman for the Senate. Like I said it's a Southern or red neck state thang.
The Democrats stole another seat.
Another Tea Party Nut-job bites the dirt...
This guy was an embarrassment to all of America...
Sheeple--you're the one who's not thinking things through. Even with the minor modifications made to the health care system, it is still a FOR PROFIT system that most Americans struggle to afford. The problem with health care is due to CORPORATIONS inflating the costs and price gouging so that Americans pay more for care than anywhere else on the planet. This country isn't going broke because some poor people get medicaid or seniors get medicare--a system they paid into all their working lives.
Corporate welfare and Defense budgets comprise some of the largest handouts made by the govt. But Republicans would have you believe that Teachers pay and benefits are the culprits wrecking the system. Teachers didn't crash this economy--Banks and Corporations did, and we taxpayers bailed them out and got nada for it.
Bush taking this country into two wars that he executed poorly and based on sketchy information is the reason we are all feeling this pain.
Another used tea bag gets thrown into the trash.
My daughter personally knows a single mother who voted for Obama. She voted for him because he was responsible for her getting $105,000 knocked off her mortgage loan. She was telling this while laughing as she got in her new Mercedes and drove off. Is it any wonder Republicans are so bitter and ready to fight to the death, having their own incomes further reduced by the fvcker in the White House? My daughter's boyfriend, a Democrat who voted for Obama because he would help "the poor", lived in California with my daughter. He claimed a Texas residency so he wouldn't have to pay the CA state income tax. When asked why he didn't want to help "the poor" in CA by paying his fair share of the state income tax, he said he disagreed with how his money was being spent in that state. What a flaming hypocrite, representative of the Democratic supporters.
GOP Nut Job bites the dust, Dem's Rule !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
^^^The Keith Judd type Democrats sure are excited about Colonel West's loss ^^^
I wonder what makes you all so amped about this *particular* Congressman losing.....?
"All Opinions Welcome"
"The Fox Nation is for those opposed to intolerance, excessive government control of our lives, and attempts to monopolize opinion or suppress freedom of thought, expression, and worship."
We have excessive government because we have your fellow man who finds their love of money and power are more important than living in harmony with others. There is nothing wrong in working hard for your wealth but there is for those who want to take shortcuts in getting there by screwing over others. Most regulations and laws were put there because of abuse.
So where has your freedom of thought or expression been compermised? If anything, it's the right side of the equation that has tried to "suppress" these. Freedom of worship is wonderful as long as it's "Christianity" and follws you ideals. In this country we have a freedom of worship of any religion or none at all and that's something that the far right doesn't get.
Why is it always the Republicans that cry about the elections when they lose. Cry and say there must be something wrong with the ballets since they lost. Wow, change your diapers and move on.
The US is much better off today.
To be fair, Democrats do the same thing... (remember Florida in 2000?)
KeenInsight, you ARE on the right track and I agree with some of what you are saying. Banks and international corporations are controlling much of the situation. As far as the military industrial complex you allude at regarding defense spending, I totally agree.
Here is my problem, I don't agree that the ACA will make things affordable. Health Care costs will continue to rise even with this program, primarily because of the red tape, i.e. bureaucracy needed to conduct it. What makes you think that the same group of people that can't make the post office work or Amtrak, can efficiently maintain this leviathan of medical welfare?
The REAL problem is not so much the corporate greed but the greed of the lawyers in this country for health care costs. Due to a lack of legislation regarding tort reform doctors, hospitals, and pharacutical companies have to spend enormous amounts of money for malpractice insurance. That cost is passed down to the consumer.
Another reason for health care insurance being so high is that there are restrictions from purchasing out of state insurance which would open up competition, which in turn would also reduce prices. Both of these situations have been ignored by BOTH parties. Take a look at who are our so-called representatives. Over 70% are LAWYERS. You might want to look at their investment portfolios - pharmaceuticals is one of the largest investments.
My problem KeenInsight is that so many on this board spit and fume about the Republicans when in fact their heralded Democrats are just as much to blame for the problems we are experiencing today regarding the economy.
You might want to also review the actual expenses of the Federal Government. The latest records show that Social Services, such as Health and Human services, HUD, and food stamps are the largest expense. The military budget does come in second, but the third and rising is the Treasury Department.
Why the Treasury Department you ask? Well the more we BORROW to pay for things like bailing out the banks (both Bush and Obama), the more we spend on social welfare programs like food stamps et al, the more we own in interest. For now with the FED keeping interest rates are near zero it is sustainable. That logistically cannot last much longer. Once the FED increases the interest rates that 16 Trillion will escalate out of control and we will be right back into recession, or more like depression. The biggest lie that the Democrats kept repeating all this election cycle was about the so-called 1% paying their fair share. Even if we taxed them 100% we STILL would not be able to pay down the debt, in fact that would only run the government at it current spending level for about a month. All the give aways that this administration and the democrats use to win this election are not sustainable. Eventually the Piper will call to collect and we will be just another third world bankrupt country. The international bankers win and we all lose Republican and Democrat.
@East Coast -- "It was racism. Pure and simple."
I cannot fathom too many Black people would have wasted their time voting for this right-wing cracker loving Uncle Tom. The people whose views and standards he so espoused, i.e., the White people of Florida have spoken. The don't need a Ding-Dong (chocolate on the outside, white on the inside) representing them. Good for his opponent!
funny the smallest precint in that district only had about 10 registered voters. And about 700 people voted in it. LOL
@kaybeetoys -
so you want to see an african-american man put in a straight jacket and drugged against his will? I suppose you want to bring back slavery as well since you support shackling up this black man.
Your true racist colors are showing.
Ron, it does no good to explain anything to a certain group of people.
REMEMBER THIS: If a Republican candidate is black you can say anything negative you want.
If the BLACK candidate is Democrat and you contest, you are a racist.. These people are so
bias, and sick you simply can't talk to them.. We all know who won this election, top down.
Yes, we do, AMERICA WON. Because West is OUT.
The man was not fit to serve ... period!
Jean: " These people are so bias, and sick you simply can't talk to them..
I know it's tempting to talk about the Republicans as being "so biased and sick that we simply can't talk to them." And oftentimes it does appear that way. But let's keep trying, ok? With a little persuasion and lots of goodwill, we may manage to bring Republicans back to the table--back to reality--so that they can do their jobs and help us all make this great nation even greater.
After all, we're all in this together, Jean, aren't we?
Bucco
Sane people voted him out and many of them were not Democrats. A pig like West has no place in American politics as he is a slime ball punk thinking he somehow will have some appeal. On that last one, he was right, there are plenty of dumb people that will vote like the idiots they are.
Shaking your head: And don't forget all the corporate welfare and lower taxes on the rich. Not to mention the 2 wars Bush started while lowering taxes at the same time. I pay higher taxes than Mitt Romney and I can assure you he is FAR wealthier than I.
I just can't wait to see who the blame will be put on this go round ? He can't blame it on Bush, WTF will He do ? Can't wait till the middle class gets hit with the largest tax increase in the History of the country, it's called OBAMACARE !
@maxwell's silver hammer -
Wow, Romney paid $1,935,708 in federal taxes in 2011, and you paid more than him! Congratulations!
You're also complaining that he is wealthier than you. By your own admission, you are far wealthier than most all the posters here.
BTW, wealth is irrelevant when it comes to federal taxes, it's an income tax, not a wealth tax.
No, just commentators waiting for something interesting to happen.
First of all, the vast majority of states who take more federal dollars than pay in taxes are REPUBLICAN or swing states. Secondly, some of those promises of welfare and free (or low-cost) healthcare go to people like our veterans, elderly people who have paid for Medicare and Social Security all their lives, and the 1 out of every 6 Americans in poverty thanks to supply-side economic policies. And thirdly, there is NO WAY the United States can deport all 12 million undocumented immigrants; Hitler sure couldn't do it, even as a totalitarian dictator. What makes you think that a constitutional republican democracy with 50 autonomous regions can do better???
Actually, you are historically inaccurate. While the Roman Empire did technically offer free bread and circuses to their impoverished plebeians, it wasn't an unsustainable burden. In fact, the Romans lasted centuries with that policy. The Roman Empire collapsed because of three things: fiscal instability, thanks to aristocrats and corrupt officials draining imperial coffers; political instability and corruption due to a lack of clarity on the line of succession and a line of weak rulers, leading to generals claiming power via their respective armies; and (obviously) the invasions of the Roman Empire by nomadic peoples, who took advantage of Rome's instability and carved out kingdoms in the Empire, eventually destroying it.
The hole in his boat created by his hateful mouth and ignorance ... took in more water than his tea cup could bail out!!!
jack in Portsmouth
And those on the right thought it astonishing how many people vote for a democrat, but the evolving view appears to be democrat = robin hood or democrat = santa claus.
Taking one step further about half the voting age public think it astonishing that people would vote for either party.
I see, when a Tea Party member is elected "The American People have spoken". When a Democrat is elected "The Democrats stole another seat".
And you're surprised you had you ass handed to you in this last election?
"Rep"- R Fla Allen West is OUT, Good!!! Now to remove the REST OF THE PARASITIC DEADWOOD From The House Of Reptiles so that the republicanCrimeCartel does NOT have a House Majority. That is to be accomplished; If and Only If the NAIVE Voters who put the RepublicanAristocratParty there will wise up.
So why didn't the electorate (or the Democratic party for that matter) tell that crook Charlie Rangel to hit the road (out of Washington) and to get away from the public trough?
Its time to become a one party nation with the Dems being that one party, right?
@ridin the barack express - You wrote:
When will you get your head out of the sand? It is about the PERCENTAGE of tax he paid, not the bottom line amount! He paid 13% while people making a middle class income, because the same loopholes are not available to them, paid 22% to 25%. And that 20 plus percent hurts the middle income people a hell of a lot more than it hurts people making millions.
Answer this question ... which would you prefer, to make $50,000.00 per year are pay 25% of it back as income tax or to make $2 million per year and pay 25% of it back as income tax? Well ... I am waiting for your answer.
The percentage should be the same for everyone ... NO LOOPHOLES FOR THE RICH.
Nice try at rewriting history Freshiee. First of all Bread and Circuses was NOT something the Romans had for centuries, it was created BECAUSE of the corruption and usury of the failing Empire. What started our as a Democratic Republic became a ruling class democracy and due to internal uprisings this "ruling class" instituted Bread and Circuses to placate the "rabble". Just as the liberals are doing to this country.
By promising social programs under the guise of helping the poor they had been effectively locking generations of blacks, and poor whites into an economic ghetto, and now that many blacks are seeing that they can make more through hard work rather than sucking off the teat of mommy gov. the liberals are molding a new underclass, the illegal alien population. Using scare tactics and making promises of free or cheap education, i.e instate tuition for children of illegals, providing welfare checks, food stamps, and even housing to these CRIMINALS, the next step is to give them amnesty - a nice built in voting block of between 12-20 million.
To add to this, the welfare reform of the 1990's was side stepped by the Obama administration last year, putting us back to the same abusive welfare system that keep people out of jobs rather than cputting them to work. Once again I ask WHO is going to pay for this? The B.S. that was shovelled down our throats the past election that millionaires and billionaires need to pay their fair share was a lot of smoke and mirrors. If their tax rate returned to pre-JFK of 90% it still wouldn't even dent the wild spending of the liberals and their pals the Republican neo-cons have dumped on this country.
At current levels, not even guessing at the increase in debt over the next four years, anyone under the age of 18 today will be indebted to over $216,000.00 when they enter the work force in tax debt.
As the saying goes give a man a fish he eats for a day, teach him how to fish and he can feed himself forever. The liberals saying, give a man a fish and he'll vote for you every time.
This you Romney?? QQn
For the last four years your party has done their best to destroy the US economy in order to defeat the President...you failed. Now it would seem a good portion of your party is trying to secede from the Union. So perhaps this Nation is becoming a one party country but it's not by Democratic design, it's because your party is running away...and has for the last four years.
screeeeminglib - Not taking issue with what you said; just pointing out that West was in the Army, not the Marines, or so said the article. "Semper Fi(delis)" is the Marines' motto.
First of all, most of the people receiving "Panem et Circenses" in the United States are people either well below the poverty line (below $25,000) who most likely do not want to be on the dole, elderly people who have spent their lifetimes paying into the social safety net, veterans of our armed services, or the wealthiest Americans with special tax breaks and subsidies. So if you want to pick a fight with the poor, seniors, veterans, or the wealthy, be my guest. Secondly, bread and circuses was a basic Roman domestic policy ever since the late Republican era; in fact, it had been a crucial program for the poor plebeians of Rome itself since the leaderships of Gaius Gracchus in 123 BC, the brother of Rome's populist Tiberius Gracchus. Gaius made far-reaching reforms to increase the rights of the plebeian class, similar to FDR and his pioneering New Deal. Technically, it can be construed as a symbol of decline for the Roman Republic and the rise of the Roman Empire, yet that would be due to a rise in economic inequality and a lack of power among the impoverished Romans.
Really??? Tell me how helping the poor with assistance and aid is chaining them to poverty??? Yes, welfare benefits can be used to gain political support, but they serve the purpose of helping the poor. As for illegal immigrants, what the hell are we gonna do; deport them??? Benefits to illegals is probably over-the-top, even I'll admit that; but we have to at least find them a path to citizenship. If Hitler couldn't deport every Jew from Europe with all his dictatorial powers, how the hell can a democracy to that to illegal immigrants???
Actually, welfare reform was NOT overturned; the waivers were meant to enable states to find more efficient ways of increasing employment, and were requested by REPUBLICAN governors in their concept of a decentralized government. And by the way, raising taxes on the right is not merely for raising revenues, although raising them to perhaps 70% would help reduce the deficit considerably. It is also to reduce income inequality and fill in the widening gap between rich and poor.
And we can all thank Republican supply-side policies (Bush tax cuts, deregulation of financial industry) and the two unnecessary wars waged by the Bush administration for that increase in debt.
The fact that this guy got as many votes as he did is a travesty. Did sane and rational people actually listen to him, agree with him and want him to continue to represent them? Collective Insanity!!!
Retreat
About bloody time.
People don't vote for Obama just to get free stuff, I will prove it to you, 9 of the top 10 wefare states are republican voting states.
1) New Mexico (Democrat)
2) Mississippi (Republican)
3) Alaska (Republican)
4) Louisiana (Republican)
5) West Virginia (Republican)
6) Alabama (Republican)
7) South Dakota (Republican)
8) Kentucky (Republican)
9) Virginia (Republican)
10) Montana (Republican)
These Republican voting states take far more from the federal government than they pay in and they did not vote for Obama. One more thing how did that 47% Romney spoke of become more than 50% because Obama won the popular vote as well as torturing Romney with the electoral count. Better figure out why you lost because it is not about free stuff for the electorate, and nobody will be hurt more than poor republican voting people in the states above who complain about welfare as they cash their welfare checks, and collect their food-stamps.
Bread and circuses for the people, democrats provide the bread and republicans provide the circus.
Ron --
"To be fair, Democrats do the same thing... (remember Florida in 2000?)"
In Florida in 2000, there was the small matter of many thousands of ballots going missing in predominantly Democratic districts, with a very close vote count between Gore and Bush. It was so close the outcome was decided (if you can call it that) by the Supreme Court. On top of which, Bush Jr.'s brother was the Florida governor and the Secretary of State was a close ally, declaring Bush the winner before all the ballots were counted. A much different situation than this election. How soon we forget.
Bucko - Democrates was a Greek scholar. Democrats makeup a political party.
@ Grump #1.94
yep, that's a real fair assessment there Grump. No wonder we can't talk to you liberals. You have your own language. Last time I checked WELFARE was a hand out to mothers with dependent children. Are you telling me that these ten states are saturated with single mothers?
How about we separate out some of the Federally Mandated expenditures such as education? and other Social Programs? How about we separate out those Federal $ spent on Federal Highways? How about we take into account population density? Maybe we ought to look at per capita Federal spending?
I really take exception to this! The Democrats stole nothing! All the Representatives and Senators and the POTUS himself in this election were duly elected by the voters of this country. That is the right and privilege of American citizens!
The rules for the election are clearly spelled out in the Constitution of the United States. You do remember the Constitution, don't you? That's the document that far right Republicans claim to revere and cherish... until it gets in their way!
What particularly angers me about this statement is that this election seems much freer of the controversies accompanying the previous 2 elections. America seems to have cleaned up its act and the election process ran much smoother (and, dare I say it, fairer) this time. Were there problems? Sure, but this election had much less of the controversy and divisiveness of the last 2 elections.
Once again, Democrats stole nothing! The American voters, as is their privilege and right, took their place at the voting booths and elected those who they thought would do the best job in leading this country. Deal with it!
Thank God! We are finally seeing what the Teabuggers have brought and Americans aren't buying! Allen is a good example of how out of touch with reality the republican party has become! Down with the Tea Party and all its illiterate henchmen and hench women!
EEngineer,
Like Allen West you too are so out of it and come up with the lamest excuses for the 8-9 seat gain in the House for the Democrats. Please face reality!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The extremism of the republican party has been identified and Allen was a good example. Bye Bye Allen and hopefully the rest of the extremists. I think the whole party is that way when you listen to them!
Assess it as you wish Dumb Farm Boy the states above recieve the highest amount of "free stuff" from the feds compared to what those states pay in federal taxes, whatever the feds give out these states take the more than their share. It's not my assessment it is a fact.
Evidently you have a reading comprehension disability.
Did I say they, did not receive more Federal Dollars than they paid in? NO.
Did I not ask you to think about the dollars spent on Federal Programs, and not on the 'people' per se?
And what part of the Treaty that all the States agreed to when they joined and were accepted into these United States do you not understand? Article 1 section 10, and Article 4 section 4.
It is no wonder we have such a hard time discussing things with you liberals, not only do you have your own, newly Politically Corrected definitions, but you can't even understand the original ones.
So, please do define for me "Free Stuff". And which Congress or Congresses authorized this "Free Stuff"? What are the stipulations to this "Free Stuff" (as it has been my experience, nothing is 'Free') {But a dope smokin hippy liberal pinko commy would not understand that}
And I wouldn't say the Democrats stole the election, but something sure smells fishy.
I just saw an article, (sorry, don't have the url), take it with a grain of salt. But in Philadelphia, in 59 precincts, NO one, not one vote for Romney. That's gotta to be a couple million voters and not one for Romney the RINO? seems odd.
And I have seen several articles about precincts that were 99% Obama. ( The Old adage "Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large groups" come to mind) Oh I know it is possible, but somehow it doesn't seem very PROBABLE.
I know it is a lot to ask of you People, since we are just the "Whiny, Bitch***, Bu**Hurt, Losers" (to quote a few of you) ["That need to get 'Over' It"] but pay attention to this stuff. Your guy won, but if he(or those who supported him) cheated... then we all lose eventually.
@ dumbfarmbozo Are you a democrat dope smoking troll? or are you just one of the stupidest mufhuks in the country?
@JimD #1.105
Boy, Jim, I am not sure I can respond coherently after such a devastating rebuttal of my comments, but I'll try.
But I can say this, your comment is spoken Like a true liberal, Change the Subject, Ignore the Facts, and Name Call.
My guess is you are too ignorant or of a sufficiently diminished mental capacity to formulate a cognitive and cohesive argument to support your position. And you must revert to parroting what others have said, even though you fail to fully comprehend what was said.
I would also venture a guess that you are one of those dope smokin hippy liberal pinko commies to which I referred as it is evident you failed to understand a single thing I wrote.
But hey, you're cool, right? You sure told me off.
@ Grump 2.0 #1.1.2
And how is this different from all of those Democrats who receive more Social Security than they paid in their whole lives?
Read this little gem, for a good representation of the Religious Right's Source Material. It has a paragraph that tell's us " How We Got Here", but ignores conveniently a few little illegal wars, supported by the Congress. From 2009, but is still relevant to today's Good Christian-held views based on hand picked issues. Not bad in that it mentions we need to reduce the Military Budget as part of the program to get out of the level of debt we are/were in.
But it is not altogether free of facts. Just not those most relevant that were caused by "their" heroes of a professed idealism suitable to "their" taste overall.

ooh lets
go
Steve walks warily down the street,
with his brim pulled way down low
Ain't no sound but the sound of his feet,
machine guns ready to go
Are you ready, Are you ready for this
Are you hanging on the edge of your seat
Out of the doorway the bullets rip
To the sound of the beat
Another one bites the dust
Another one bites the dust
And another one gone, and another one gone
Another one bites the dust
Hey, I'm gonna get you too
Another one bites the dust
http://www.elyrics.net/read/q/queen-lyrics/another-one-bites-the-dust-lyrics.html
IR - Great one - I was thinking the same.....Another one bites the dust!
Allen goes west and the Tea Loonies are next 2014 Revenge !!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey, Patriotic Leftwing American, if president Santa Claus doesn't fix the economy by 2014 you just might have to swallow all of that arrogant bulls**t that you're spewing....we'll see. I mean, based on his first term, I'm betting it ain't gonna happen, 'cause all that's happened so far since the election has been a whole bunch of layoffs....watch for a bunch more!
spider-737231
Republicans remind me of the kid who draws a line in the sand and dares the other kid to cross it. Then when he does, he draws another line behind the first one...roflmao!
Actually Republicans are in a win-win situation. If Obama helps the economy recover we will win because we will all recover. If Obama is an abysmal failure we will still win because it will definitively show that Obama is a total *ss who couldn't do sh*t.
So we will see who is really laughing in two years. So far it looks like it is going to be business as usual with the Obamanation. Polarizing the country into two hating factions, willing to fight each other to the death, climbing unemployment, increased numbers of food stamps, national debt climbing even higher than the $16 trillion Obama took it to in his first term...yeah, business as usual for the fvcker.
Hey Democrats! One more thing...There are none so blind as those who will not see. The definition of insanity - repeating the same thing again but expecting a different outcome. You people are fools.
Spider: "'cause all that's happened so far since the election has been a whole bunch of layoffs....watch for a bunch more!"
Turn off Glen Beck please! I heard that same "layoff" baloney he spouted. Do you think layoffs suddendly began on Nov 6, 2012? Check your facts. People get laid off ALL the time--including under "job creating" Republican administrations.
BTW when exactly does all the job creation begin anyway? Since Reagan we've been waiting--over 30 years--for "trickle down" lower- taxes-on-the-rich to create jobs. When? The rich currently are taxed at the lowest rates in decades--but CEOs triple their own salaries while laying off their low-wage slave workers.
Classy!
Seymour : " Polarizing the country into two hating factions"
Then don't "let" Obama do that! Start compromising, assisting, cooperating, and working with our freely elected President. Don't do the Republican bidding and hate the other side!
Problem solved!
Hey spider, still having your brain washed by Rush "I hope he fails," "Sandra Fluke is a slut," "Obama is Santa Claus," Limbaugh I see. As for the layoffs, if the conservatives in business want to take revenge against American workers because their platform could not get elected because their candidate's records were a flip-flopping moderate (Dubya v2.0) and a debt increasing socialist (Ryan) then so be it! It's a very small price to pay to keep the freedom killing, mentally twisted haters, religious zealots, and their parrot followers from elected office.
Seems to me Seymour...you are the party of trying the same thing but expecting different results! Isn't that the definition of conservative? ...sure seems to be (think Trickle-Down).
Ol doc
I think you nailed it. The democrat version is on ethics, but people today are plenty willing to overlook something they don't like if it means they get something they want.
Ol Doc - How did Obama handle the economy in his first term?
He extended the Bush tax rates, and cut other taxes like the payroll tax (Obama claimed 18 tax cuts during his election rhetoric). Sounds like 'Trickle Down'!
If 'Trickle Down' is so bad, why did Obama embrace it for 4 years so far? And Obama was happy to lay claim to the results (of jobs and the ecomony recovering).
DB Akron......Trying to get a feel for what you are trying to say......I think you are just a moronic boob......Rich tax rate 1965 = 90%....Rich tax rate 1985 = 40%........Today's Rich tax rate = 32%......Rich haven't had it so good since the 19th century....It is trendable how this effects the deficit wellness throughout history......It does not work and this is a provable fact....So if you think a trillion dollar tax cut for the rich will help anything than you are just ignorant to facts......Prior to 1965, you know before old people started getting these great benefits, the disparity was much greater between the rich and the poor due to the families still having to pay out of pocket instead of the government pooling of resources.......But you are dumb so you don't seem to understand, or have not read the Romney plan and the Ryan plan, which plans on placing the burden on everyone and cutting benefits....Dumb idea all the way around...we have done it before......once again and understand the inherent problems of doing this.......Please tell me that people are more educated and thorough than you are?.....It is like watching "Idiocracy" with you....You make me feel like a genius.....Free stuff....you are an idiot......What do you think the alternative tax cuts from Romney are? Free stuff for the rich....Just like the Bush tax cuts which cost us over 100 times what welfare does........Are you really this un fact based? Disgusted with your lack of factual knowledge....You are just a parrot....
Stacey Peterson
Once again a dumb f_ckn comment.......House repug held the small business and middle class tax cuts hostage to keep the Bush tax cuts in place = FACT......Who embraced what? Dem have been trying to do away with the Bush tax cuts for four years......And if you don't know that .....go watch c-span and learn something....Because you live in a fricken bubble....
DB.....Miss stated......Before 1963 = 90% After 1963 70%
and one other thing Trickle down economics is the concept of the people at the top growing the economy by spending.....Sorry to educate you....I guess you could call a kid with a lemonade stand a "trickle down economics" guy.....but what you are saying is ridiculous....sorry
West was the ONLY MEMBER of the GOP Black Cacus....
I guess that means there's now room for TAN FAN Boehner...
Claiming Obama "extended the Bush tax cuts" is dishonest. They were set to automatically expire, and Obama clearly stated he wanted to let them expire. The problem was the Tea Party wankers who held the unemployment extension hostage unless the cuts were not allowed to expire. Obama had to sign the bill or unemployment would have ended for millions of Americans.
Secondly, by cutting taxes for everyone who was NOT wealthy, Obama leveled the playing field and lowered the taxation disparity. Since this produced the largest increase in jobs, 'trickle down' was not embraced by the POTUS and this was what created more jobs.
One party nation!
One party nation!
A great way to get rid of those Republican governors is to eliminate the 50 state set up. Then we'll have one big Democrat nation.
Please explain that one to me. How can 1% or 2% of the population possibly spend enough money to grow an economy the size of ours? Again, Republican numbers simply don't add up. The only job creator that has ever existed in any economy is "demand", which is created by a strong expanding middle-class. The only thing Supply-Side Economics has accomplished in the last 30 years is to transfer enormous wealth from the middle-class to the wealthy...and I believe this last election demonstrated We the People reject your "Trickle-Down Economics".
DB - Yea - everyone who voted for President Obama is getting a gift. Don't you think that that boob Romney was going to be the gift that would keep on giving to Corporations and rich, white men? I have been going to my mail box every day when I get home from putting in a 10-hour day processing mortgage loans but no gift yet. I am a life-long, loyal, liberal Democrat and I haven't received a gift other than the satisfaction of seeing President Obama re-elected. I am exceedingly grateful for that but am I to expect something else? I realize that I am apparently one of the mindless drones hypnotized by the liberal media but what do you think my gift will be? Hmmmmm?
Isn't falling back on this "gift" excuse a little too easy and way too crazy to explain the recent election results?
Tomas G. & Indy Red..... Well my friends, there are only two undecided seats in the House now, let's HOPE that Dems. take them !! But even if they don't, the majority held by the Republicans will only be, 35 seats ! So... if ever there was a time for the Dems. to push for, WE THE PEOPLE, it is NOW !! You both have a... VERY HAPPY THANKSGIVING !
Sure she does...
I'm very much in favor of getting rid of ANY politician that is deliberately antagonistic and refuses to work with the other side of the aisle.
Good bye, Rep. West. Your hubristic, vitriolic attitude will not be missed.
Propose the 28th Amendment, stating that Congress will be compensated the AVERAGE income of their constituency. Pay Federal taxes at the same rates as their constituency. Receive the same Health care as their constituency, be able to receive a pension based on a 30 year career in a real world profession not based on terms served in Congress. Members of Congress will be excluded from accepting any position within a lobbyist / Special Interest, or Government employment no less than 10 years after End Term of Service in Congress.
We'd have some districts go unrepresented in some cities.
Matthew, are you advocating for the removal of every member of the Silent Donkey (Dumb Asses) Party? If so, I'm with you.
Simple its the Elephant in the room that needs to go. 68% of Americans are for that and with me for that.
No, ST. I said what I meant, not what you are suggesting. There are good and hard working people on both sides of the aisle. Keep them and get rid of the extremists that refuse to work for the benefit of ALL Americans. To get rid of people simply because of a Party alignment is equivalent to throwing out the baby with the bathwater.
Ross, as of 2014 (per HR 3590 as signed into law) Congress and the staffers will only be allowed access to helath care offered via the PPACA or Health Care exchanges. The effect of this will be to give them the same health care options as their constituency. http://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/BILLS-111hr3590enr/pdf/BILLS-111hr3590enr.pdf
Who's the dumb ass Simple? The dumb ass or the dumb ass who whips the dumb ass's dumb ass? Republicans got ganked...have a nice day.
Sounds like most of the Democratic Party.
Sounds like the children have taken over their parent's computers this morning.
I agree, but unfortunately, I think that means getting rid of all of the party leadership in both parties.
GOODBYE, Democrats.
HELLO Jean! Don't go! (((BIG HUG))))...it'll be ok...let's all work together--compromise--offer solutions--not just personal abuse. If you have a problem with something--offer a constructive solution!
We're all in this together--let's all make this a better world in which to live.
(And turn off the poison like Limbaugh and Beck--that's a good start, ok? Bill O'Reilly told John Stewart after their mock debate that HATRED sells--and that's why we have so much of it spewed over our air waves! Don't buy it, Jean. Don't buy it.)
Bye-Bye Neocon.
Another one bites the dust------bye bye DORK....
go away baggers
Outlaw Republicanism!
Why bother. It dies, by it's own hand.
Gone from office for 2 years, then back again in January of 2015. Murphy, enjoy your two years for it is going to go by fast.
You were foolish enough to elect him in the first place- you mean you'd vote for him again?? I'm going to stop right here before I get insulting.
You are dreaming. The tea party and the GOP are finished. We are going to crush the GOP in 2014 and say hello to higher minimum wage, federal gay marriage and legal pot. Say goodbye to the '50s and religious intrusion into government.
Legal pot? Obama already throws his weight around in the matters of legalized marijuana unlike anyone before him. The raids on legal pot vendors shot through the roof under the man's leadership.
You obviously pay no attention to the facts.
Lol...good luck with that.
Kind of sad that you would vote for someone who entertains you rather than someone who actually will do the job though.
East Coast
I would say Obama is no more lax or vigilant than Shrub was on this issue. Executive branch just enforces laws. Could you hear the GOP that "the President coddles addicts" if he wasn't strict in his enforcement? A black man in the White House unilaterally overturning Federal drug enforcement, the negative stories write themselves.
Lobby Congress to take pot off of schedule 1, then we can look at national decriminalization, then the states can have their own say on legal/illegal. But it starts with Congress, not Obama.
2014 will be "off" year election which tends to have much less voters but on average more informed voters, which means West will be back in over Murphy due to less uninformed voters voting. Murphy, wish you the best on your two years because that is all you are going to get.
kurt's comments Here is my comment your wrong! the people voted him out because he's nuts. If your one of the "informed voters" and you call the voters who voted him out uniformed? Damn Dude your idea of being a "informed voter" is real mixed up.
Not this time Kurt, after 2010, never again!!!
Kurt, your direct implication is that TEA Party/GOP voters are "more informed" and that Democrats are "less informed." That's an unsupported bias. You are also placing Rep. West on a pedestal as being more appealing to "informed voters" which is also unsubstantiated.
That said, I appreciate that you wished Rep. Murphy well. Let's hope our elected Congress is more productive in finding solutions than the last one and MUCH less obstructive.
Matthew, It is a fact on Presidential Election years there are more uninformed 1st time voters and those that rarely vote. Off Election, you tend to have more voters who are more informed and vote more often. I stated NOTHING about "tea party, gop or the Dems", sorry for your paranoia. In you know elections, you would admit a much higher % of INFORMED voters vote during off Presidential Election years than Presidential Election years NO matter if "Tea Party, GOP or Democractic/Socialists), that is why West will be back in January 2015 as those uninformed 1st time voters and voters that just vote on Presidential Elections went vastly for Murphy tilting the election his way on a very close race. I hope Murhpy enjoys his unique experience for the next 2 years, after all, very few of us very get to be a Representative in Congress.
Huh?
If more informed voters vote--Murphy wins.
You still haven't learned your lesson. 2014 will probably be the last election that's even close, and I doubt it will be that close. Your comments alone inform us all that Republicans can't change, can't admit their mistakes, can't look objectively at the world and can't escape their desire to politically gratify each other.
The current conflict between Israel and Hamas also shows us that the Republican Party has no concept of foreign policy. Since your party, in it's infinite wisdom decided to "primary" Dick Lugar out of office and replace him with a teabagger, the closest thing you have to a foreign policy expert is John McCain and if that weren't pathetic it would be laughable.
The Republican concept of foreign policy seems to be "bomb them or arm their enemies". When asked about Syria, Libya and Egypt the Republican foreign policy seems to be "arm the rebels". Never mind that we don't exactly know who the "rebels" are. We did that with Afghanistan in the late 80s, remember? How did that work out for us (Taliban, al Qaeda)? You see? That's the problem with the Republicans, generally speaking you're just not equipped to respond to a changing environment. The really sad thing is that the Republican Party's only claim to fame is fiscal responsibility. Unfortunately that myth was demolished with both Reagan and GW Bush.
You don't see any of the above which is why as a party, you are headed for extinction. There are none so blind as those who will not see. The American People see you now.
Ol_Doc, rather bad timing on your part to claim the "Republican Party has no concept of foreign policy". Sorry, NO one on the Rep Party blamed Free Speech on the Internet in the USA for an Al-Queda Inspired Group attack on US Territory, our US Consulate and killing of our Ambassador, the 1st in 30 years. If you think the "concept of Foreign Policy" is to blame a legal US Immigrant Free Speech and enforce Sharia Law by having him sentenced to imprisionment for a year (Conviently done the day AFTER the elecition) when he had NOTHING to do with the Terrorist attack on the US Consulate, then you are naive at best. Inshalla, this President no longer enforces Sharia Law and instead give the blame where it is due, Islamic Terrorist.
Kurt's comments
Yes...the Iraq War was a great example of effective foreign policy. And what the last Republican administration did with the intelligence "bin Laden determined to strike within the US" and "Terrorists likely to use aircraft as weapons" was absolutely masterful. It only cost 3,000 American lives, as compared to the 4,000 Americans lives lost in Iraq.
Oh, and it's not just GW. How about the Beirut Barracks Bombing under Ronald Reagan? 241 dead American Service Members. The sentries were not allowed to load ammunition in their weapons. By the time they did, the truck bomb was by them. And what did Reagan do? Cut and Run!
Wouldn't you say the Benghazi attack was at least as bad as the Beirut Barracks Bombing? At least as bad as 911? How about the Iraq War and the "false Intelligence"? I love Republican false equivalencies! Yes, we could all learn a lesson from Republican foreign policy.
"Gone from office for 2 years, then back again in January of 2015. Murphy, enjoy your two years for it is going to go by fast."
1- Out of sight-out of mind- out of consideration . (see McCain/Romney/Bachamnn/Palin etc)
2- I had no idea that the Rove Kool-Aid could keep you this high for this long .
3- It might "go by fast" for Murph but they get the benefit of
watching you twist in the wind all that time & you seems to twist & squeak at the same time .
A whiney loser never gets the attention or grease that a squeaky wheel does for good reason,
one will work until it's broken the other is just a quitter .
Arsenic, you're wrong and it's a shame that you got up voted for being wrong. It is a fact that Obama stepped up raids on medical marijuana facilities. This isn't something I'm making up. It's a fact. But, you know, you support Obama so your assumption is held with much higher value than someone who states a fact against him. The lefties are so damn smart it nearly hurts. At least they like to fool themselves into thinking that.
Decriminalization would be a great step but Obama could also honor the rights of the states. That's a solution that doesn't require back room deals and party bickering. Instead the man sold you all out to the medical industry with ObamaCare and now you're just going to have to eat the crap you voted for.
And no, I didn't vote for Romney so don't even go there either.
In regards to Kurt's Comments:
In regards to East Coast's comments:
Obama did, in fact, do much to keep the sanctity of his predeccor GW Bush in place. What he did NOT do was lead us into increased/maintained long term foreign wars installing more and larger bases in Sovereign Countries. I voted for President Obama based on the fact that I AM informed to the actions, good and bad, of ALL the Candidates for Higher Office.
Much to the chagrin of several of my "Leftie" Friends, I have dubbed President Obama as Bushbama, but Thank Dog, he is NOT President Bush/Cheney. Willard Romney was still being force to use the Rove/Rumsfield/Cheney/Adelstein/CIA Spook minionswhich guided the last 40 years of Republican Presidential Candidates, despite their disdain for the Mormon(only their Jesus works for them, unless you are desperate/Adelstein(who has no God but $$$). So sorry that did not work out for Mitt...not.
If you or anyone wishes to label me, good luck! I go with my observations and choose the best of the lot the Two Party System limits us to. Liberal is not the worse thing I will or could be called! I call myself an Informed Party Voter. I work to make sure that due diligence is paid to ALL in power or attempting to be. Including after Elections are over.
I have several issues with Obama's first Presidency, including the lack of Single Payer and Insurance Premium restrictions/regulations, the continued manipulation of Energy Stacks by those have ZERO possesion other than rakeing insane profits through speculation, the raiding of several Medical Marijuana shops(though I do believe they were flaunting the ability to make profit outside the rules), and most importantly, the lack of transparency/continued kowtowing in regards to Big Oil, especially letting Shell drill in the Artic(though theycouldn't even get their own @!$%#e together in time to beat the ice/timelines for the "Clean Up Craft").
I also did not appreciate President Obama claiming he ended the war in Iraq when it was Maliki kicking Our Asses OUT, in accordance with the GW Bush Administration's Timelines. An example of continuity from one Admin to the Next, perhaps, but a major flub realistically.
However, I also more than suspect that a Puppeteer Group is in charge of making sure any President is only allowed so much Free Will. Too many decades of lack of real change to convince me otherwise. And yes, the Checks and Balances of our Branches do have much to do with making sure nothing changes that much or that fast as well. In essence, K Street owns Both Parties....
So, how uninformed do I sound?
I continue to Petition Our Government to be Well Aware that INFORMED Americans ARE Paying Attention.
Peace
About time.
Allen can join his Right wing nuts at Fox News. I'm pretty sure they will hire him after 2 yrs of going on there network and trashing the president. Now looks who is out of a job.. Sucker!!
Brilliant analogy Jason, along with 23 million other Americans !!! The country is going splendid, isn't it ? You liberals are pathetic, the very core of what is wrong with this country. And it just keeps getting worse (but, as usual, you'll just blame someonelse, while the country decays around you).
Dragon (?): It sounds like someone has a serious case of Sour Grapes........ along with either delusional episodes or very very poor awareness of recent economic, political, and social history..... You should zip up: Your agenda is showing.....
Dragginass, suppose you cite some stats to back up your ass-ertion that things are getting worse.
They are not Fox News, legally they are Fox Entertainment Media. That is important to them because the FCC rules say that a news program cannot knowingly broadcast false information, but there is no such rule for entertainment shows. Fox lies because the courts have ruled that they can.
Hey Dragon, what are YOU doing to help solve our country's problems? Oh, yeah, you come online and spill your Boone's Farm.
Dragon....thank goodness you're not blaming anyone.
Dragon. You are the fool. This country is decaying because of greed. There is never enough money for people Like Mitt Romney and David and Charles Koch. The true great American's like Henry Ford that saw past Greed and built the middle class. He had enough sense to know that if he paid his workers a good wadge, they could and would buy his cars and trucks. He was right. To of your kind that thinks everything needs to be made In Communist Country's rather then here in America, just to make more profit. Well China is heading for a huge fall. We American's are going to stop buying the crap made in China. We are going to demand things made here In America. Its not that we wont pay a little more, Big business just don't want to give us a choice anymore. In the short term it makes for high Profits but in the long term it is killing our Country. I ask you. Who is killing this Great Country?
Dragon is another one of those idiot right wing nuts who can't see past the blinders on their face because people like him choose not to.
Oh yeah dragon, about those 23 million people u stated. I assume you mean the total number of unemployed in this country. Okay jrk off, if 23 million people were hired today, unemployment would be 0%. I repeat 0%.
Was unemployment at 0% when Obama took office. NO. Right wing nuts keep saying this crap over and over. Most of those 23 million people been unemployed and stop looking for work for DECADES..
Well I guess that explains why there's now MSNBC and NBC News separately. Didn't know that had to do with a court ruling.
Dragon, tell us how exactly Mitt Romney and republicans was going to get 23 million people a JOB..
I'm waiting on specific plans and stats to back it up.
Waiting little dragon...
Jersey Bob, "sour grapes" doesn't mean what you think it means.
Look it up. It's from Aesop's fable "The Fox and the Grapes".
ausador: How would the FCC penalize a "news" organization for knowingly distributing false information?
How can an entertainment company brand itself a "News" outlet and not be corrected by the FCC, if standards do exist for the journalist designation?
Are you aware of the Federal Appeals Court Ruling in Florida that gave FOX News the right to knowingly LIE to the public?
Dragon: You liberals are pathetic, the very core of what is wrong with this country. And it just keeps getting worse (but, as usual, you'll just blame someonelse, while the country decays around you).
You're blaming "someone else"--i.e., "liberals" for "what is wrong with this country." Pot meet kettle.
If you really think something's "wrong with this country," then by all means--step up and give us some CONSTRUCTIVE solutions. If you can't do that, then please STFU. I'm sick of all the losers whining. Do something to make things better or else--get out of the way--and let the rest of us make this a better world in which we all may live!
There's only one way to fix up news reporting: STATE RUN MEDIA. Think of it no more Fox vs MSNBC vs CNN etc. Just one news source.
Imagine if you will: "The anti- islam video caused the Libya consulate people to get killed. And THAT'S IT!!"
You're kidding me right? We are blaming someone else? No, we're trying to fix what Republicans have broken and your party is busy throwing Romney under the bus and trying to secede from the Union. As far as I'm concerned I hope you succeed. This time we won't bother fighting a war to bring you back. You and the other red states can fight over who should get the most guvmint aid in your new TeaParty paradise.
Dragon, the rich have had tax cuts since Bush, yet millions are out of a job. Yet, the GOP cry that the rich need the tax cuts to create jobs. Why doesn't any of that make any sense? It's a perplexing paradox.
There are any jobs with the rich getting Bush ax cuts, but if Obama continues the tax cuts, there will will be jobs. It's obvious that taxing the rich isn't going to change the employment rate, but will lower the deficit.
Whew. That's good news. He was absolutely certifiable.
Another t-bagger bites the dust. Wonderful....
Allen West is out and Alan Grayson is back in. At least Florida is doing something right.
The "Kings of Right Wing Comedy" are succumbing to the reality of a new America. Sayonara, folks. You've given us all a lot of laughs and a few sleepless nights, but now it's time for you to go.
Another example (with the exception of Eisenhower) why CAREER military officers don't make good Commander-in-Chiefs!
I liked Ike!
And politiacian make good commanders in chiefs? Who sends are chilren to wars? Military officers or politicians?
Grew up in the 50's and 60's in a blue collar Democratic family. I didn't like Ike then. I've come to appreciate him over the years.
Ike was a brilliant president. Between NASAs, and the Interstate Highway project, I dunno which to consider his biggest achievement.
You, and most other people in the nation. Appreciation for Eishenhower didn't really pick up until LBJ was in office.
Macz - don't you think those CAREER military generals surrounding the President aren't pushing for the wars MORE THAN the politicians because - just maybe - they can get another "star" - - plus you get all the military industrial corporations wanting more contracts that come with the wars - - sad!!
"In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist." Dwight D. Eisenhower
"An oligarchy of private capital… cannot be effectively checked even by a democratically organized political society (because) under existing conditions, private capitalists inevitably control, directly or indirectly, the main source of information." Albert Einstein
Thank you Sam! Excellent and quite wise quotes from two intelligent men. I appreciate your post.
Truly an extraordinary President. It's a shame he and his values have been rejected by the Republican Party. He is the kind of Republican this country really needs. Not perfect, but a good man who cared about his Country and her people.
BWAAAAAA-HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Now, please stop electing crazy people.
OH by crazy people you mean, Pelosi, Reid, Frank, Dodd, Biden, Wasserman-Schultz, Yep those are some crazy people..alright! They need a class in remedial math.."Class let's review, 1+1=2 Get It???"
Ross Wilson: It was because Bush and his cronies couldn't count (or didn't care to), that we had 2 unfunded wars and an unfunded Medicare expenditure. YOU and the rest of your mean-spirited GOP hypocrites are the ones who need an education and not just in math - civics would be a good class as would anger management and of course science.
Some of them may be untruthful(see Dodd and Wasserman-Schultz) but how are they crazy?
Ross Willson, people like you have exhausted my supply of grace and goodwill. So, here goes....
SCOREBOARD!!!!!!!!
Ross. your kidding right. Talk about fuzzy math. Look at the load of crap romney was trying to sells. Look back at Little Bush. Your Reps are used to saying on thing and doing something else. Conservative my butt. Conservative Christians my A$$. There is no such thing. You people claim to be that but are neither. You complain about Welfare, but the biggest rip off of Tax dollars are Copr. Welfare. The Rich are on the Government Tit, The Military complex suck up most of our tax dollars, But when talk of cutting back there military spending, well we can't do that. The Army said they don't need any more Tanks. We have 10s of Thousands of setting in fields rusting away, we don't need any more. But Congress knows better, So we are still building tanks.
Ross: wake up and smell the coolaid! The reason we're in the debt we're in is because of Republican President George Bush--who started TWO wars--without budgeting for either (in fact, both wars were off the books until Obama put them on)--AND Bush lowered taxes at the same time!
Now what brilliant mathematician starts 2 wars while lowering taxes at the same time?
Maxwell... "Now what brilliant mathematician starts 2 wars while lowering taxes at the same time?"
One who's father, grandfather and vice-prsident were (are) in the war materiel business. Apparently, it runs in the genes. Like diarrhea
How Bush's grandfather helped Hitler's rise to power
Sam: Ohhhhh! Whoopsie! Now that makes sense...yikes! But thanks for pointing that out. You're right!
fox news will take him teaparty nut
racists who voted against the black man!
ricardoh your right. They voted against The President.
FL voted West in the first time.
Do you think they suddenly turned "racist"?
Or is it more likely they didn't like West's performance, and all the bigoted McCarthyism that came out of his own mouth?
West lost the election on his own.
...and just HOW MUCH did dragging out this concession cost the taxpayer, with re-counts and other expenses? I guess for the fiscally conservative $$$ are not important. This is a tremendous victory for sanity over the lunacy we allowed to take over the house in 2010.
Good riddance! That's right he has a job waiting on FOX.
Funny how when a GOP politician loses everyone immediately thinks they are now qualified to be on Fox News. Wonder why that is? Could their slogan become "Home Of Losers"?
Wonder if Patrick is out drunk on his azz.
With the concession of Allen West we get another indoctrinated, brainless, party-boy drunkard in the Congress. It appears America just can't catch a break.
Why drunk?
He was arrested for being drunk. No doubt he's into other unhealthy and unlawful activities.
If that is the worst charge they dug up on him(and nearly 10 years ago at that) then I would say he is doing better than many members of congress(By the way, politifacts has a pretty interesting review of the facts on the arrest, for the record). Oh, and he never tried to hide it either, when asked he talked about it.
Simple Theory, your application for sainthood is hereby accepted. A member of the admissions committee will be getting back to you. Hey, tubesteak, people who live in glass houses oughtta keep their tightie whities on!!
He was 19 and the charges were eventually dropped. Nice talking points though, Simple-minded Theory.
Simple Theory. Wow is that the best you can do? He was arrested for being drunk when he was 19. i suspect that he might have grown up since then.
Murphy was getting drunk in bars and being arrested for DUI while West was serving our nation. So many uninformed voters voted for the drunk over the Patriot.
If Murphy is a drunk he should get along with the speaker of the house.
kurt---------West was facing a dishonorable discharge. Look it up.
He is no patriot.
Some of you speak as if you have never done anything remotely stupid during your teenage years. Again, if if the drunk and disorderly(which was dropped) was all they could dig up, then I would rather see this guy than West, who, military record aside, was a vile, divisive, rancorous untruthful representative.
Ted, Thanks, I have already "looked" in up ... in Iraq, West was a fine FELLOW Solider who did all he could to ensure no harm goes to the Soliders under his command. Too bad Political Correctness got in the way in fighting Terrorism. West only "crime" in Iraq was not being Political Correct enough in kowtowing to Terrorists but rather placing soliders under his command as first priority. As my of my fellow soliders in Iraq stated, we had a two front war, against Al-Queda Sunni Inspired Terrorists (usually foreignors of Iraq )and Irainian backed Shi'ite Extremists, then our 2nd front, Political Correctness from Certain members of Congress of not letting us in fully fprotect the people of Iraq in fighting terrorist within Iraq. Inshalla, this Poltical Correctness will not tie the hand of our troops in our next war no matter who is President or reasons for that war.
Drinking is illegal?
auntie facial
What makes you think I live in a glass house? That would be the freaks from the left. Glass houses, public houses....you're all the same.
and yes funnystuff, in certain cases drinking is illegal.
I'm sure all you simpleton's drooled over weiner's cockshot....male and female alike.
Lowlife drones who are unworthy to speak the name of Allen West.
Good riddance. Heya tea party, how does it feel to be on the rubbish heap of history?
Hey Liberal, how does it feel to be the slime of humanity????
mitch ennis How does it feel to be a dumb ass???? It looks like the shoe fits you real well!!!
Mitch, you are a personification of many of the problems within this country. As long as people such as you are around, those who believe that anyone who sees things differently than you are scum, and deserve to be treated like such, then this country will never improve. This concept of "My way or the Highway" makes seem as a petulant child, throwing a fit in the middle of a grocery store because your parent will not buy you the cereal with the toy in it.
Ditto
As I predicted in 2010, the populist "Tea Party movement" was doomed to be a tiny footnote in American history. Without Koch Brothers funding and a common hatred of minorities and poor people, they don't have a message to communicate. One and done.
Thank god another tea party moron removed from office. Hopefully the next one will be our governor. She probably will go down as the most corrupt, incompetent ever and that is hard one to swallow being from this state
Cheer up... you could have our Rick Scott!
I think Gov Haley is going to get a slap down in 2014. I think she was hoping with a Romney win, she could bolt the state and serve in some administration capacity in DC. She sure spent a lot of time out of state raising lots out of state money. Hitched her star to the wrong wagon, that's for sure!
Now, we just have Tim Scott and Joe Wilson to get out. Hopefully, loony tune DeMint honors his pledge to not run for another term........
Well, in keeping in fashion with the other teabaggers.....at least he didn't leave with any class at all.
Keep it classless teabaggers.
Even in defeat he still toxic. He is challenging the new
house representative legitimacy by questioning the result. This is not good for
the political discourse in America. Thank God he is gone and others may learn
from his mistakes.
1900 votes... The difference between fantasy and reality, a milady that had run wild in our country for far too long. To add to Rachel Maddow's list, Congress is not filled with Communists, or Nazis,... but Right-Wing-Religious fanatics sure thought they had found a home. When they find reality they will find redemption and maybe a seat at the table.
The Party of the Silent Donkey (Dumb Asses) has been overran with Communists and Islamo-nazi sympathizers and freaks. It is no longer the party of John Kennedy but rather the Party of Mooch.
Everyone knows it. Own it. The next four years are going to be an even greater disaster than the last four. After the braindead-in-chief's disastrous "historic" trip to Myanmar, Burma is ready to invade us.
I'm guessing you meant malady, not milady.
Simple Theory. Great moniker because your views really do reflect the Simple nature of your thought process.
Simnple Theory, everyone knows it, huh? Apparently, you didn't read many of the posts here! EVERYONE!!?? Hell, it ain't even close!
They're ready to invade us with hordes of tourists. Go there instead. It's an incredible place.
simple theory Commies Islamo-nazi sympathizers and freaks. Yes I will own it and wear it like a badge of honor. There does that make you happy. Now you need to wear a straightjacket. Now own it. I would rather be those things that you call me but you don't know if I am or not. But the real cool thing about this post of mine is I know your nuts just by reading your post. Is that your brain your frying in the pan not a egg. They were right that is your brain on drugs.
Guys, we need to stop feeding the trolls like Simple Minded Theory...it only encourages them. Just hit ignore and maybe they'll go away.
simple registered 11/4 (or that was the first indication of "presence" It seems that simple is upset that Obama was elected for another 4 years. Too bad, so sad, get over it
Simple T: I see you have decided to forgo rational discussion in favor of personal abuse. The last refuge of the ignorant loser.
Is that all you got? Namecalling and abuse? If YOU'RE an example of a "righteous" Republican Conservative--then I'm proud to be a "dumb ass"! I pity you fools. It must really suck to be you!
pffft!
Simple T-
Really, dude??? Please take your meds, your foaming at the mouth...
"Fuggetabouit"
@kaybeetoys: Pay not attention to the man behind the idiot curtain....."ridin the barack express". I'm black and have no problem with your straight jacket and drug comment in regards to Nutcase West. express is makin a HUGE stretch to imply this is a recist comment. He only proves the point that he only knows racism if it is on video tape. Other than that it doesn't exist. Allen: The american people do have a threshold of vulgarity, hatred, ignorance. Thank you for allowing us to demonstrate this. Please fade away into oblivion.
Let's see.....how to reply to the idiots on this thread who deny that their
"party" has not been overran with communists and islamo-nazi sympathizers and freaks?
simple, because that is the way life is....
1)auntie fascist
2)keith ellison, luis gutierrez, bernie sanders, barack obama, richard trumka, van jones,"fairness","forward",debbie wassaman schultz,laRaza, naacp, god dropped from their platform,"tax the rich",cult of personality, endorsed by the CPA, endorsed by the DSPA,obama was a member of the DSPA, a strong desire to control every facet of people's lives,CodePinko, michael moore, etc, etc, etc
3)open border advocates and ferocious proponents of "free" stuff.
The truth of the matter is the followers of The Party of Modern Day Plantation Masters are exactly what Lenin desired and mined. No JFK's in that party of losers. Uninformed stupid people incapable of providing for themselves. They survive by taking from others.75% of the people who claim democratic party affiliation are on the public dole.
So rattle on all you fools wish. There's a 75% chance you're a mooch and not worth listening to. I care not a bit what you claim. Facts are facts. You are all really quite sickening.
Extreme wing-nuts like West ARE the problem with congress. Good riddance.
Good Riddance Tea Bagger. Hope you are joined by more of your fellow baggers in 2014.
I am hoping this is the beginning of the end of the tea party. They added nothing to our country except vitriole, chaos and disharmony. And I was concerned that they never had a message, it was a patchwork quilt one that each person had in their own mind. When these people got in they did what they had on their own agenda. Enough is enough. And Palin the leader of this nonsense needs to stop her nonsense too. No one should make that much money over nonsense, the same as Hannity and Limbaugh. Their ilk gets no one to think and gets a lot of people angry over nonsense.
wait until we go over the fiscal cliff - THEN they lose all credibility
LOL, The Fiscal Cliff possibilty ONLY exist because of NOT following the Political thoughts of the Tea Party. Both Dems & Reps (Rep Establishments)are such spendaholics of the Tax Payers money. If there had only followed reasonable thought of limited Government spending, lower taxes and Individual freedoms in starting a business as the Tea Party wishes for, the "fiscal Cliff' would not be an issue. Get your Parachute ready as yet ANOTHER OVER $1 Trillion Annual "budget" of Obamanics is making that fiscal cliff ever so steeper.
The money that gets spent is 80% caused by LOBBYISTS, they keep the money flowing to the Rep
and he is obligated to them...take the Lobbyists out behind the Capital, stand them in a ditch and then......
eliminate the problem the cheapest & most expedient way !
