GOP House members 'deeply troubled' president may nominate Rice

A group of 97 House Republicans have signed a letter discouraging President Obama from nominating UN Ambassador Susan Rice to be Secretary of State, saying that Rice "either willfully or incompetently misled the American public in the Benghazi matter."

The letter, penned by Rep. Jeff Duncan, R-S.C., states the group is "deeply troubled" that President Obama is considering Rice for the position.

"Though Ambassador Rice has been our Representative to the U.N., we believe her misleading statements over the days and weeks following the attack on our embassy in Libya that led to the deaths of Ambassador Stevens and three other Americans caused irreparable damage to her credibility both at home and around the world," the letter reads.

Citing her comments on the Sunday shows, including Meet the Press, on Sept. 16, 2012 where she called the attack "initially a spontaneous reaction" to protest in Egypt, the letter says "the inconsistencies deserve closer examination."

The letter says the unanswered questions surrounding the Benghazi attacks are reason to "strongly oppose any efforts to nominate Ambassador Susan Rice for the position of Secretary of State."

It is amazing what is being said. We are all Americans. Because I believe Obama is a dangerous person and is heading our country the wrong way, I should be drawn and quartered? This country is on dangerous ground. The race issue is greater then in the past several decades- the split between rich and poor- the reliqious split.

It really seems Obama used these to divide the country and listening to the posion spewed I think he did a great job.

We need a two party system. We also need level heads and less hate. WOW! many here sound like crazy fundamenalists -

Yes the GOP lost - many of us want the best for the country - not to promote hate of my neighbor - who voted for Obama.

As with Syria - it is wrong for our government to allow Americans to be exposed and to be killed. People died

    beacuse of mistakes.

As for the General having to step down because of security reasons. Why did we not make Clinton step down because of security reasons? I would think he would have many secrets also as President.

But stand back an look with a critical eye and open mind- does the media really treat the news impartially?

The GOP/Tea Beggers still do not want to talk about their "Caucus Conspiracy" of Janruary 20, 2009. On that evening the GOP/Tea Beggers were economically and politically leg-humping the American People, the US Economy, the US Constitution, and the Office Of The Presidency. What a joke!

Repubs in House are "deeply troubled"....period.

Repubs are "deeply troubled" because President Obama was re-elected and Dems gained seats in House and Senate.

Repubs are "deeply troubled" because they can not inflict their religion, their 1950s mentality, their "love the rich, hate the poor" mantra on Americans.

Repubs are "deeply troubled" because people who do not walk, talk, look, act, speak, believe like they do are now in the majority.

    Bottom line....Repubs are "deeply troubled".

Gee, you hit all the dem talking points!! If you swallow the "love the poor, hate the rich" dem mantra, then I guess you didn't know that obama is rich and will become filthy rich when he leaves office ? Or how about the clinton's, al gore, nancy pelosi, harry reid, the kerry's, the gates, george soros, warren buffett, bruce springsteen, most of hollywood, most of the media, etc., etc., etc. ??? FACT CHECK, obama wouldn't be prez without the rich.

General Colin Powell presented information given to him by the Bush Administration to the U.N. General Assembly that contained information that later turned out to be false.

Hundreds and hundreds of thousands of lives have been lost as a direct result of actions taken based on that information.

Were any GOP leaders "deeply troubled" by that?

The hundreds and hundreds of thousands that died are questionable figures submiited by left leaning organizations. They may be true, maybe not. As far as President Bush and WMD's go, president clinton believed the same thing as early as 1998. There's a long list of people, and governments that believed the same thing long before Bush took office. Any prosecutor in the world would love to have the evidence against Saddam Hussein that the U.S. had. The list includes a number of dems in Congress and news people. clinton was also the first prez to make the connection between Iraq & al Qaeda. Curious, and informed, people know those things

TRANSLATION: The teabagger members of the House of Representatives do not care at all about Ambassador Rice. They are interested in two issues: Firstly, getting their redneck asses reelected by pleasing their teabagger, xenophobic, bible thumping, racists that they, by and largely "represent" every two years. Secondly, they are aiming some kind of cheap shot at President Obama. Everybody knows what kind of neck that Little Lindsey happens to be. McSame wants to remain "prominent" as long as he can because term limits are taking him off of a committee that he loves to be a member of. Also, he is just like Mo Romney in regard to his "feeling a sense of entitlement to be POTUS" because both his daddy and grandfather were admirals. Plus President Obama beat McSame badly in 2008 and McSame not only does not like to be told "not only no, but hell no by the American people as well as the American people choosing a person of color....over McSame. I wonder, how pissed off Mo Romney, Queen Ann, and their 5 robber baron sons are at the moment as well as for the balance of their miserable lives.

The obama administration encouraged the downfall of both Egypt's and Libya's leaders, and who knows what will happen to Syria ? The Muslim Brotherhood is on the rise, al Qaeda is not on the decline as the president claims, Israel is being threatened with extinction and is surrounded on all sides by its enemies. obama is also following closely the policies of G. W. Bush. BTW, whatever happened to the anti-war movement ?? Talk about hypocrisy !! That, and more, is the obama foreign policy. The question that all NBC fans should ask, is NBC leaving something out ?????

This is what happens when children run a major political party.

This is what happens when cry babies lose an election to a man they despise.

This is what happens when those same cry babies put party before country.

And they wonder why they lost the election. Amazing.

America should not accept the Black and Hispanic 'code of silence' where 'snitching' is unacceptable. Time to embrace ethics and not blind obedience. The truth will come out, I think. Well, just sayin'; after all, Generals do have some integrity. Some of them dislike murder of para-military men and Ambassadors and don't leave people behind.

To NamVeteran and America should not accept the old white man code of silence neither. The problem is not a race or ethic group. The problem is the acceptance of this code of silence by all groups. Also what about the military officers code of silence since you said some generals have integrity. Why broadcast the errors that all enlist personnel do yet hide the errors of the officer corp. Don't open this can of worms if you are not ready for everything to come out of it.

The thing I don't understand is how can all these Republicans make a judgement on Rice, and the Benghazi incident, before the investigation is finished. It sounds like, from what's been reported, that the CIA determined what they would give to Rice, and she simply went through on it. All this speculation about secrets and lying are a bit premature. The motivating factor for the Republicans is to damage Rice, in order to get to the president. Given that the Republicans jumped on this before they even knew people had been killed, it's hard to imagine anything else. Face it, they gave Bush Jr. a free pass on the worst attack on our soil, ever. Condoleeza also got a pass. Just conduct the hearings and see what happens.

This has been a Republican witch hunt from the very beginning. They are looking for any excuse to stick Obama in the eye with a stick. The old white men of the Republican Party sure were not this eager to find out why we were misled into a ten year war in Iraq. And do not say other countries thought Sadaam had WMD. WMD includes mustard gas, etc. Other countries did not think he had nuclear weapons or the capability to develop them, and that is clearly what the Bush Administration suggested with their lies about a mushroom cloud over New York.
