On Thursday, two close California races were decided: Republican incumbents Dan Lungren in CA-7 and Brian Bilbray in CA-52 lost their seats.
The Undecided Three now include LA-3 (which is scheduled for a runoff in three weeks) and NC-7 and AZ-2 (where Democratic incumbents cling to narrow leads).
Meanwhile, in FL-18, Rep. Allen West has asked for a recount in his tight re-election race, but he trails by nearly 2,000 votes.
Below is a breakdown of each race:
NC-7: This one is still really close. Incumbent Mike McIntyre (D), one of the few remaining Blue Dog Democrats in the House, continues to cling to a 436-vote lead over challenger David Rouzer. McIntyre leads by .14% of the 335,000 votes cast.
AZ-2: Gabby Gifford’s old seat remains too close to call. Incumbent Ron Barber, a former Giffords staffer, continues to lead Republican challenger Martha McSally by 654 votes, as of this morning. About 31,000 remain uncounted in Pima County, though not all pertain to this race. Pima County, which makes up the bulk of the district, is where Barber won a slight advantage on Election Day.
LA-3: Two Republican incumbents are headed for a runoff on Dec. 8th in this district. Rep. Charles Boustany Jr. leads Rep. Jeff Landry by a 45-30% margin on Election Day, but under Lousiana law, they must face each other in a runoff because no candidate won a 50% majority of the vote. Just because Boustany lead handily last week doesn’t necessarily mean he’ll prevail in the runoff, when only the most hardcore voters usually cast ballots. Landry has strong Tea Party support.
CA-7: This one is over, and longtime congressman Dan Lungren (R) lost his re-election race. Lungren hasn’t conceded, but what had been a close race of less than 200 votes has now ballooned to a lead of more than 5,700 votes for Democratic challenger Ami Beri. There are still about 39,000 votes left to count in Sacramento County, but only a fraction of them pertain to this race.
CA-52: With every passing day, Democrat Scott Peters continues to pad his lead over incumbent Brian Bilbray (R). After Election Day, Peters led by fewer than 700 votes, but that lead has now grown to 3,877. Peters gained nearly a thousand votes yesterday alone. Now local columnists are starting to call for Bilbray to concede. Both men are in Washington this week for freshman orientation, but Peters appears to have has won this one.
FL-18: Rep. Allen West (R) has formally petitioned the FL Secretary of State for a recount, but he appears to have lost to Democratic challenger Patrick Murphy. West trails by 1,907 voters -- just outside the window for a mandatory recount under Florida law.

Feisty---we got a start on our wish list---got rid of the Dead Beat Daddy, Keyes. Now if only we could get rid of Bachmann and Ryan. I'm hoping someone in Pa. challenges my Representative but he seems to be entrenched.

Funny how Allen West didnt have ANYTHING to say while Governor Rick Scott was reducing the early voting days and attempting to restrict the number of voters using all of the Republican 'limit the turnover' tactics.
Now that he is on the OTHER side, he would like to extend this thing as long as he can.

Well it is a fair start however, Progressive Power was hoping for a clean sweep. It would have been fun to put all the Tea Beggers on a huge 'special' Blue Bus. Then have their Blue Bus go off the "Fiscal Cliff" that they have made up. Their last meal could be held at the Caucus Steakhouse Restaurant in Washingto D.C. Heck! Even "Nutty Newt" may show up. Again! Robert Draper may even be there to write his Second book about the GOP/Tea Beggers. It could be entitled. "We Know What Evil We Do."
Oh yes, this was a very good start. Very. We gave voice to good people who will use them wisely together, and we turned down the "noise". Mighty fine election, except for the voter suppression, and I'm encouraged by the results. Forward, Onward, Upward... United.

They love to beg for more huge tax breaks for the rich, and they love to beg at the economic feet of "Goofy Grover." Over the week the Tea Beggers are begging "Darth Rove." AKA. Karl Rove. For being such incredible losers, whiners, and just being very 'reactionary.' Now they will be 'begging' the President for forgiveness.

Lots of election laws were broken with the West race .... counting of ballots by ONE PERSON behind closed doors was only one of many irregularities ! Oops !! Looks like a full recount is justifiable.

I live in Florida and I'm glad! Even though we weren't relevant, our Idiotic T-party filled government refused to call the election for Obama.
The other day I went to a local bar where the T-Nuts go, and of course they were talking about the election being a farce and voter fraud.
I told them Its not that bad guys, just listen to Romney sing his concession speech on U Tube!

Oh 2014 will be significant - just not the way jim wants it to be. I think we'll see the Democrats take the House back and retain the Senate. Both myself and my wife are lifelong Christians and we voted for Obama, among the many reasons are that the GOP is a party of angry white men who start wars, and PRIMARILY: you cannot legislate morality.
Who is in the white house will not change mans attitude towards sin and God. Shaking this sin / God thing is just a tool that the GOP uses to its advantage whenever it suits them--no more, no less.

The GOP has already been put on the life rafts in California and put out to sea. Now that they are less than a 1/3 minority, budgets can be passed on time without their constant foot-dragging. Hopefully, this trend is coming to your state soon.

For a former Officer in our Nation's Military, Rep. Allen West has to be the most UN- patriotic man, that I have ever seen or listened to, that he would EVER accuse fellow members of The House of Representatives, of being COMMUNISTS, to me is just beyond the pale, but then I must remember that he subcribes to Michelle BAT-S#%& Bachman's type of "patriotism", "anyone who does'nt agree with me 100% on EVERYTHING, MUST BE a COMMUNIST!" It is a truly disgusting state of affairs that that "woman", actually got re-elected !! Albeit it was a VERY TIGHT race, and she only won by a little over 500 votes, seems to me that if it had'nt been for very favorable re-districting, she'd be out on her a$$. The people in her district must be wizing up however, if the race was that close, in spite of re-districting!!
