Subscribe to RSSUpdated 10:42 a.m. - House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi told fellow House Democrats today that she will run to keep her leadership position, likely extending her tenure as Democratic leader for another two years.

"I have made a decision to submit my name to my colleagues to once again serve as the House Democratic leader," Pelosi said Wednesday at a press conference following a meeting with fellow Democratic lawmakers on Capitol Hill.
On the 10th anniversary of her election as Democratic leader, Pelosi said her colleagues had made their desire for her to remain as leader "very clear." There had been mounting speculation that the 72-year-old California Democrat might step aside and yield to younger figures in the party.

Pelosi served two terms as speaker of the House, the first woman to ever hold that role, from 2007-2011, during which time she oversaw House passage of President Barack Obama's landmark health reform law. She has also taken a special interest in advancing legislation intended to address the effects of climate change, prompting a vote on a "cap-and-trade" bill in 2009 which eventually stalled in the Senate.
Republicans seemed almost giddy about the announcement.
"There is no better person to preside over the most liberal House Democratic Caucus in history than the woman who is solely responsible for relegating it to a prolonged minority status," said Paul Lindsay, the communications director for the National Republican Congressional Committee.
As part of her decision to stay aboard, Pelosi said that New York Rep. Steve Israel had agreed to serve a second term as chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC). Israel helped Democrats pick up seats in the most recent election.
Pelosi's decision also means the top leadership in the House would presumably remain the same for the next two years:
-- John Boehner as speaker
-- Eric Cantor as majority leader
-- Pelosi as minority leader
-- Steny Hoyer as minority whip.

She wants to grant amnesty to millions of illegal aliens without even considering the burdens it would put on the economy/tax payers, and the what the impacts of increase unemployment to American workers would mean. Although she has not asked police to drop charges against the burgler who commited breaking and entering into her home, she is willing to give illegal aliens/invaders amnesty for "breaking and entering" into our country.

Great idea then they can all take advantage of the California taxpayers by cashing in on the California Dream Act. Then after the entire state declares bankruptcy, people might wake up to the financial impact of adding 10's of millions of illegals to taxpayer funded social services and entitlement systems.

Fosheeezy--I can go you one better--Claire McCaskill, Dem Senator from MO, had scheduled a series of 'town hall meetings' after the Obama care bill passed, and at the first one, nearly the entire audience (most of whom were senior citizens) were angrily challenging her vote on it, and finaally she lost her cool and told him to 'sit down, that SHE knew better than HE did what was good for him'.
2 years later, Robyn Carnahan (Daughter of Mel Carnahan, who was elected 3 weeks AFTER he died in a campaign against John Ashcroft!) who SHOULD have been a shoe in to replace Kit Bond when he retired, decided to run as McCaskill's 'protege', and have Obama campaign for her.
She was soundly beaten by a not very popular PUB, Roy Blunt.
2 years later than THAT, the ONLY reason why McCaskill won re-election was that three Pub candidates ran to oppose her, and the 'good two' split the vote so that that idiot AKIN won the nomination.
That and the fact that she campaigned the WHOLE time as not being an Obama-phyte any more, and did not have him campaign for her, and did not show up at the Dem National convention.
And here's the kicker--AWFUL as Akin was, he STILL made a pretty good run at her, especially since he got NO help from the Republican Party.

Are we worthy to be saved is the real question? Some will say it's all in God's hands however he has given us free will. According to our forefathers i.e. or first Supreme Court Justice Noah Webster who instructed his students on the right to vote; vote for God fearing men. Another question to be asked is, "How can we vote for God fearing men if we ourselves don't fear him? The foundation of this great country came about in a belief in a supreme being through Christianity. We are to practice those ideals and if we did, would, we be in this grave situation? There is a disease in this country of moral decay (accountability, responsibility, truth and honesty) that is destroying us. To think our forefathers thought hard and earnest in forming the Constitution and the Bill of Rights to throw that all way. For a former leader of the house ding bat and a dumb of the dumbest House of Reps to pass bills without reading them should result in impeachment of them all. They are not worthy to serve the people of this great nation.

I remember her a the first woman Speaker of the House sitting President Bush and next to Cheney during the State of the Union Address.

Let's give her her due. She does her job reasonably well, even if her predictions of a democratic takeback of the house in the last two elections were, well, somewhat off-target. As far as handing over the reins of power of a minority party in the House to a younger member goes, hang on a while longer, Ms. Pelosi. If you can lead a charge and grab back power in 2014 then you can retire on a high note.
Retire on a high note? She should resign with a note payable to the United States that is restitution for the trips across country with her family eating catered food and drinks. It would be a high note too.

Since 2010 when she lost her seat, and the republicans controlled the house, She and Reid have done nothing but block anything and everything the Republicans had for ideas and brought before the senate. She needs to go and allow the democrats and republicans to really work together, She and Reid are the main reasons they dont work bipartisan.

Big mistake - the Dems need a strong voice in congress to address the real issues of tax fairness: capital gains, tax carry-forward and the taxing of financial transactions - and Pelosi ain't it.
I think the Democrats would have been better served to find some one to replace Nancy Pelosi. I think that she served her time and that the Democrats need a new face.
