Pelosi to remain as Democratic leader

Updated 10:42 a.m. - House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi told fellow House Democrats today that she will run to keep her leadership position, likely extending her tenure as Democratic leader for another two years.

Pablo Martinez Monsivais / AP

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi of Calif. gestures during a news conference on Capitol Hill in Washington, Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2102, with newly elected Democratic House members.

"I have made a decision to submit my name to my colleagues to once again serve as the House Democratic leader," Pelosi said Wednesday at a press conference following a meeting with fellow Democratic lawmakers on Capitol Hill.

On the 10th anniversary of her election as Democratic leader, Pelosi said her colleagues had made their desire for her to remain as leader "very clear." There had been mounting speculation that the 72-year-old California Democrat might step aside and yield to younger figures in the party.

Pelosi served two terms as speaker of the House, the first woman to ever hold that role, from 2007-2011, during which time she oversaw House passage of President Barack Obama's landmark health reform law. She has also taken a special interest in advancing legislation intended to address the effects of climate change, prompting a vote on a "cap-and-trade" bill in 2009 which eventually stalled in the Senate.

Republicans seemed almost giddy about the announcement.

"There is no better person to preside over the most liberal House Democratic Caucus in history than the woman who is solely responsible for relegating it to a prolonged minority status," said Paul Lindsay, the communications director for the National Republican Congressional Committee.

As part of her decision to stay aboard, Pelosi said that New York Rep. Steve Israel had agreed to serve a second term as chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC). Israel helped Democrats pick up seats in the most recent election.

Pelosi's decision also means the top leadership in the House would presumably remain the same for the next two years:

-- John Boehner as speaker

-- Eric Cantor as majority leader

-- Pelosi as minority leader

-- Steny Hoyer as minority whip.

Having House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi is the best news since President Obama's win. She will lead unlike the spineless drunk and cry baby House Majority Leader John Boehner who is afraid of his shadow; Eric Cantor.

Really? really.

The person who was confident the Democrats would take back the House in 2012? Please stop drinking the Cool Aid; or trolling, whichever it is. Wasserman-Schultz would have been a better choice for House Minority Leader. This is just another classic example of old politicians refusing to move on and let the younger generation lead this country, like McCain.

PS, they haven't been called the WWF in almost ten years.

LMAO I knew Nancy wasn't getting off that Govt. gravy train. Stay on that rail girl!

The recession has hurt Nancy Pelosi's husband, and all those govt. contracts the last four years damn their wealth has rose 30%. Tax all sources of her income...60% to 70%.

Pelosi is an industrial slum lord in the SF Bay area. Her hubby makes a habit of insider trading, on companies affected by how she votes on in Congress. Here I was thinking all democrats were poor. I didn't know Nancy lived in a mansion in Napa Valley wine country. I guess passing the dream act is the least she could do for those poor little illegal children in Cali. She cares so much about the poor doesn't she?

The year was 1890. William Walter Phelps, an eastern republican leader, and an outstanding Capitalist in His own right, spoke publicly to a group of wall street financiers in NY. "The export of agricultural products must find a limited and failing market; the export of manufactured articles must find an increasing and permanent market. The lowest grade of labor can raise corn, wheat and pork. It does not require the intelligence, skill, and invention in which American labor output surpasses the world. Ultimately then, we must lose these markets for our wheat, but not for our wares." Phelps, one of the best informed republicans of the time was stating that the whole fiscal and taxation policy of the Federal Government must be directed to the growth of capitalist production, while denying support for agriculture, a dimming doom, especially for the independent farmer, to whom Phelps refers in terms of unconcealed contempt. They were to be used only to feed and further, industrialized capitalism at the whimsy of Captains of industrialized capitalism. More present day analogies of historic republicanism than one can count on His, and several of His neighbors hands and toes.

I think this is ultimately going to be bad for the American people. She is about as partisan as they come in today's world. That is not going to work today, the same as it has not worked the past 2 years. We need leaders that are willing and able to cross party lines to make deals to better America. The U.S is split about 50/50 for repubs and democrats right now. Nothing is going to get accomplished this next 4 years because these politicians will not work with one another no matter what the cost is. Both sides are going to yell, scream, and point fingers at the other side until our country is totally wrecked.

Truthfully both sides are to blame because they both act like a kindergarten class that can not decide on whether it wants a gold fish or hamster as a class pet. Our version of democracy is starting to fall apart because no one is going to commit politcal suicide to do what needs to be done. I hope they can figure it out but I believe nothing will changes unless they are all fired and replaced with a new breed of politician. AKA not politicians, but smart hard working business people that know how to get things accomplished.

Does anyone else think that she came straight from having her lips done for this press event.

According to the headline she already has the minority leader post...But the Dems have to elect that position from their congressional body? Perhaps they would like to swing the honors around and now elect the first African American or the First Latino for Speaker of the house. Seems the Dems live for those EEOC firsts. I think it would be very shallow for the minority party not to extend the opportunity to others to people of color. African American and Latino members of the DNC party brought in the vote respectively and made a valid stand that their community interests were a powerful voice and perhaps those interests should be validated.

Breaking news...Angus King, Independent Senator from Maine will caucus with the Democrats, because they are in the majority and he will have more influence. From his statement:

One final word. By associating myself with one side, I am not in automatic opposition to the other. In the situation of a Republican House, a Democratic Senate but with substantial powers in the minority, and a Democratic president, no one party can control the outcome of our collective deliberations. As Bill Clinton might say, it’s just arithmetic. In fact, this situation has only two possible outcomes-action based upon good-faith compromise or no action resulting from political deadlock.

And this latter is simply unacceptable to the American people.

She made those party over country republicons actually go to work! Pelosi went back to the 5 day work week. For 6 years the republicons only workded a 4 day work week. Why show up when you had ALEC lobbyists there to write your legislation for you and tell you when and how to vote?

Pelosi also went after corruption in the House. I do believe at one time 19 Congresscrittwers were under investigation. Was it 15 or so that were republicons?

Nancy Pelosi has done a good job representing her district which is quite liberal. Our democracy is based on representation of the people. Conservative districts usually have conservative representatives and liberal districts tend to have liberal representatives. Each representative gets one vote in the House.

So, why hate San Francisco's representative?

Come on people electing a white woman has been done..what about say Sheila Jackson Lee or Al Green either of those might bring Texas along in the next 2 or 4. How about Joaquin Castro, the DNC seems to wish to promote him these days as a stellar Hispanic, and he even comes to the job with a mom who is incredibly outspoken against everything that is not Latino...I would have suggested a Latina but it seems their is only one but what the heck Michelle Lujan Grisham you go girl.

So if the DNC really wishes to follow their forward momentum and walk the walk perhaps it is time for old gringa Nancy to step back and let the new Democrats lead. Viva la difference.

Nancy can't quit yet she still needs to deliver the final blow, her episode with the housing bubble didn't kill us it only hurt us she isn't done yet, we still have the war on energy to loose and then there are some industries that need to be regulated out of existence, she will not be happy till the last job is gone and every one is on entitlement's, you get um girl show those people in those red states what unemployment really is, lets shoot for 50% by 2014, and lets get the cost of gasoline up to $20.00 a gallon so people will stop driving around polluting the air, leave that up to China to do, lets breach those hydro dams, get some more Chinese wind generators instead, lets regulate coal out of existence we don't need coal, and then we can abolish hunting and fishing, we can force everyone to eat vegetables, we can make America a shining example for the rest of the world, and for a grand finally lets tax the corporations out of existenceforce them all to move to Bolivia or someplace where they will be allowed to earn money and keep some of it and above all tax the crap out of everyone earning more then $250,000.00 a year they can pay 75% taxes so the ones on welfare can get a break besides those celebrities don't need all that wealth, its not like those people with money are going to buy a new car and create jobs or something, we know they just stash it away and never spend a dime, the government is where the money belongs not in the private sector, the government needs more money to give to the UN! what America needs is Nancy Pelosi as speaker of the house again she did such a fantastic job before just look at the end of the Bush administration that will show you how hard she worked and how great she was at the job, she was a shark in bloody waters alright between her and Barney they underhandedly destroyed the Nation with their lying and manipulating, that's OK though because president Bush was available to take the blame and this time we have the GOP to blame for everything that wont work. isn't it great its never a liberals fault they don't make mistakes. The buck wont stop at Obama because they already have the finger pointed at the Republicans, hell Obama still has not presented a plan, at least the Republicans have done that, and what about that stack of bills that is piling up on Rieds desk. you liberals have to start sharing the kool aid before the other half of this once great nation goes crazy. look at the bright side now that Obama care is the law every household in America will be required to buy insurance and the cost is expected to go up up up maybe to six hundred per person per month that money will be removed from the market people will not have that money to spend on things they want or need like food, Cloathing, transportation, movies. you can all just sit in your cubicle and watch PBS because cable and satellite will be to expensive, we will all be enlightened. face it we are screwed.

Keeping Nancy "PeLoosi" is a sign that once again my party shoots itself in the foot.

She is to the extreme left as the Tea Party is to the extreme right. Compromise and govern for all the people is not in their vocabulary.

She has done more harm to the Democratic party image...she is the Achilles Hill to Obama's next 4 years.

Now I must admit, she is the queen of the liberal pastes she spends so much time alluding to.

    MOMaid (Post 1.2),

Uh, been listening to FOX there again, buddy? Or perhaps Rasmussen?

At present, DEMS need to win 23 seats in the House to realize a majority, not the "35 or so" of which you speak.

What is more, that '23' may be reduced further still as seven current House races are as yet undecided.

For every Democrat victory in each of the remaining seven, lower the figure of 23 to 22, then to 21, and so forth.

Now I ask you, if Boehner's Republican-controlled House allows the country to go over the fiscal cliff simply to protect the tax rates of multi-millionaires, will the Right-Wing spin machine be able to make the electorate forget by 2014? Hardly.

Your party is in disarray, Karl Rove has been humiliated as a political strategist as well as thoroughly discredited as a tactician, and the Adelson's and Koch's of this world are asking of the Tea Party, "What have you done for us lately?"

TeaBagger wingnuts will continue to win in deep Red congressional districts, to be sure, holding on to enough seats to serve as daily reminders to the rest of us of the danger they pose, but the full weight of the mighty Democrat machine will be thrown against those who remain.

23 seats? A challenge. Less than 20? Doable. Then there's always the tide which will sweep in to the Oval Office the first female President of the United States, Hillary Rodham Clinton, in 2016.

    Game on, Rightie.

All this talk about what Nancy Pelosi said, it isn't what she said, what you right suck faces are typing is what Rush Limbaugh said she said. She didn't say "we have to pass it to know what is in it." That isn't what she said. You f-ing haters ought to dry up and blow away.

Chilled's comments on how republicans hate Pelosi because she is a woman is exactly why congress and politics are in such a deadlock now a days. If you disagree with Obama, you're racist, never mind the damage he has done to our economy and freedoms. If you disagree with Pelosi, you are a sexist, never mind her being one of the most partisan hacks to ever make it to congress, and exploiting people with horribly low wages while demanding an increase in the minimum wage for others. Hey libbies, maybe we dont like them because of their policies. Resorting to personal attacks during a political debate just shows that you dont have a strong side to begin with.

Bush43 bankrupted this country. He bankrupted it with 2 unfunded wars, an unfunded prescription drug plan for seniors, 5 unfunded tax cuts, a fake housing economy that when the bubble burst it almost took our entire economy out. He gave no bid contracts to Haliburton and Haliburton stole the US Treasury. When Bush43 left office the economy was shedding 800,000 jobs a month.

Obama has had 36 straight months of job creation, the DOW has doubled in the last 4 years, Corporations are reporting record profits.

Instead of being a child and walking away with his toys, he really should own up to the fact that BOTH parties are responsible for the mess that we are in. Big also seems to forget that after nearly 4 years there are still 23 million people unemployed. Gains of barely 100K jobs a month is a drop in the bucket and if that is the best that they can point towards Obama's "success" we are in for another 4 years of excuses from the left.

        bigdogg464,

Hahahahahahaha, you actually believe all that B.S. Damn man, no wonder this country is in such a mess. There are a lot of people that actually think this poorly.

        1. The recession was not caused by the debt. It was consumer driven. I hate the debt, but it did not cause the recession at all.

        2. Biden voted for both wars. I know he said he didnt, but you should listen to everything you hear. You may actually be able to think for yourself.

        3. Should we have not gone to war with Afganistan?

        4. The push to invade Iraq started with Clinton's administration. Including both Clinton and Gore who believed there to be weapons of mass destruction there.

        5. You obviously have never taken an economics class, so let me teach you something. You dont pay for tax cuts. You dont pay for money you dont take from other people. We have a spending problem, not a taxing problem.

        6. The recession was the result of deregulation which Clinton signed. He also forced banks to make loans to low income families, even if they could not make a profit. This caused banks to give loans to people who were probably going to default. But dont worry, the democrat created Freddie Mae and Fannie Mac, would be there to save the day. Oh yeah, they went bankrupt too.

        7. The economy fell because of Clinton. Presidents cant affect the economy until years after they leave office. This is because it takes years for things to come into affect and have an impact. We'll feel Obama's damage soon enough.

        8. The Dow droped 300 points the day Obama was elected into office. The economy is doing well in spite of Obama, not because of him.

        9. There are less jobs now, than when Obama took office. You can spin it in whatever way makes you feel better, but he has not helped the situation at all.

        10. Please look up your nearest college so you can take an economic or history class. You obviously know nothing of either.

just a cleaning lady -- You can't speak for all of California, only for yourself. I haven't seen any polls saying the majority of Californians are baffled by Feinstein and Pelosi. They get re-elected each time they run. Moreover, if you want anti-age discrimination legislation brought up for a vote, contact their offices -- I'm sure they'd be glad to hear from you. While you're at it, contact Boehner's, Ryan's, Canter's and McConnell's offices as well and then compare the two responses -- the GOP group is more concerned about lowering taxes for the wealthy, not about leveling the playing field. Isn't that obvious by now? Pelosi has been fighting for the middle class the whole time she's been in office. She's not out of touch. Boehner, Canter, Ryan, Bachmann, and so on, are out of touch. Oh, and how can I forget the most out of touch politician of all -- Romney?

        @In agreement,

You need to open your eyes. Reid, Pelosi, McConnell, and Boehner are all cut from the same cloth. All are extremely partisan, all are stopping the process from working. Republicans said they would block anything coming from Obama four years ago. Reid said beginning of this month that he would not work with Romney if he won. Just because one does it doesn't make it right for another. You claim the house has blocked all the job bills, how many job bills are sitting on Reid's desk from the house?

Those two pairs are the ones blocking the process, neither pair should be in the positions they hold. They care more about partisan politics than they do about you or I. They care more about whether or not the idea came from their party than they do your or I.

Don't excuse your party just because the other party did it, it would earn far more respect in the eyes of all voters if one side would just man up, climb out of the sandbox, and start working for this country. I really don't care which side does it, I'm just sick of the gridlock that those four are responsible for.

Those two pairs are a prime example of why term limits need to be installed.

As far as your out of touch comments, none of the politicians in charge (including obama) are 'in' touch with the middle class. Obama is no better than romney, once you have at least six zeroes in your annual income, you had better not claim to know a damn thing about what the middle class goes through financially.

If people of the Democratic party posting on articles made comments of intelligence I would have more respect for them.Bashing everything Republican is such immature style makes one shudder to find out that the Democrats are the majority voters.I have not seen any comments with facts on what exactly has Pelosi contributed to Americans while serving the public.

Since the conservative posters love to generalize, generalize this: Why is it the GOPTP are so frickin' lazy they can't do their own research. They apparently only have the ability to rely upon what democrats comment on - much like they can't rely on any other source of information other than Faux News and Limbaugh. Cleaning Lady, get out your broom and mop, scour the internet and news sources for Pelosi's contributions, and quite relying upon everyone else to feed your butt ugly mug.

Pigotry--like it or not, Obama and Pelosi LOST the house in an EPIC failure in the first two years of the Obama administration, and like it or not, Obama got about 9 million FEWER votes this time than he did last time--NOT a sweeping mandate.

Just remember that when you say the pubs in the house are 'obstructive', they are doing EXACTLY what their constituents ELECTED them to do. If we had wanted 'more of the same', we'd have re-elected our dem representatives in 2010, and if we'd been unhappy with our Republican reps 'obstructing' (I'd call it 'preventing the Dems from running roughshod over the country') we would have bumped THEM in 2012.

Obama won the election. He kept the Senate, with a lot of help from a couple of idiot Right wing religious nuts. But he did NOT get a 'sweeping mandate'. Possibly because many of us who voted for him in 2008 didn't like some of the 'sweeping' he did in his first term.

Love the denial, but the mandate is the President's. The only people that do not recognize that are right wing zealots.

By the way, Romney got about 2 million LESS votes than McCain did. A measure of how much those on the right embraced him.

Surely, you don't believe what you're saying. Maybe if we hadn't had so much voter suppression, people getting knocked off the voter registration lists, standing in long lines, and voter caging you would have gotten bumped. Hell, they're still counting votes in Arizona.

Anyhow, it does not matter. The idiots in the House can keep believing they don't have the responsibility or mandate to change the status quo because come 2014 heads are gonna roll.

All the Koch fueled money polluted the minds of some people. As time goes on it is gonna become clear to the confused ones.

Actually it wasn't 9 million fewer votes. It was 7 million. Also, the President becomes the first Democrat since FDR to win reelection twice with more than 50% of the vote each election.

The President beat Romney by 3,400,000 votes. McCain's 2008 totals were even higher than Romney.

Those were not jobs bills. You are correct to put the sarcastic marks around those words.

The republicons campaigned on jobs, but only sent up social engineering like redefining rape. you know, like state rape and legitimate rape.

What else did the unAmerican republicons do? How about blocking a bill to stop giving tax cuts to companies that export American jobs like Romney's Bain Capital is doing right now?

Here is a partial list of some of the job creation bills that the GOP has said no to (via: Democratic Leader Pelosi):

An American jobs effort to end government contracts rewarding corporations that ship American jobs overseas. [Vote 19]

                A measure to discourage outsourcing
by denying the bill’s pro-corporation election rules for companies that ship American jobs overseas and leveling the playing field for workers in union elections. [Vote 868]

A measure that places a priority on keeping jobs in America, protecting the authority of the National Labor Relations Board to order an employer to maintain or restore jobs in the U.S. that would be otherwise outsourced to a foreign country. [Vote 710]

Build America Bonds to Create Jobs Now Act – leveraging public dollars to strengthen the private sector, growing our economy by rebuilding America’s schools, hospitals, and transit projects, supported by American businesses, the construction industry, mayors and governors. [Vote 38, Vote 30, Vote 189]

American Jobs Matter Act – to give preference in federal contracts to U.S. manufacturers that create jobs here at home. [Vote 257]

                National Manufacturing Strategy Act
, to demand a clear plan to help manufacturers compete, invest in innovation, and put Americans back to work, which passed the House in 2010 with overwhelming bipartisan support. [Vote 279, Vote 721]

A measure to promote jobs and innovation at home,
by prioritizing patent applications from entities that pledge to develop or manufacture their products and technologies in the United States. [Vote 490]

Advanced Vehicle Manufacturing Technology Act to help ensure the cars of the future are built here in the U.S., by investing in a broad range of near-term and long-term vehicle technologies to improve fuel efficiency, support domestic research and manufacturing, and lead to greater consumer choice of vehicle technologies and fuels. [Vote 310]

A measure to support American Manufacturers by giving priority to any company that uses materials made in America for the construction and renovation of school facilities. [Vote 693]

A measure to protect at least 10,000 American manufacturing jobs and provide disaster relief to families and business owners: approving bipartisan disaster aid passed by the Senate without slashing Advanced Technology Vehicle Manufacturing loans that put people to work producing cleaner cars and investing in innovation. [Vote 715]

Currency Reform for Fair Trade Act
to provide our government with effective tools to address unfair currency manipulation by countries like China, which could help create 1 million American manufacturing jobs by leveling the international playing field for American workers and businesses. [Vote 9, Vote 199, Vote 780, Vote 821, Vote 854] This bipartisan bill has 230 co-sponsors including 63 Republicans, yet the Republican leadership has blocked it. Democrats have launched a process to force consideration of the measure; that petition has 178 of the 218 signatures needed.

A measure to ensure that American materials, rather than those imported from abroad, are used in the construction of new or existing structures for coal ash storage. [Vote 792]

A Make It In America measure that prohibits the Coast Guard from purchasing textiles or apparel that are not grown, reprocessed, reused, or produced in the United States. [Vote 829]

A measure for middle class families, directing the Joint Committee on Deficit Reduction to eliminate subsidies for the five largest oil and gas companies and corporate jet owners, before gutting education initiatives that create jobs, spur growth, and invest in our future. [Vote 676]

A measure to protect jobs for returning veterans by preventing incentives for small businesses to hire returning veterans from being swept away by GOP deregulatory efforts. [Vote 879]

A measure to allow Congress to make job-creating investments
, instead of automatically freezing funding for Pell Grants and education programs for students, job benefits for veterans and job training for all Americans, and life-saving health research. [Vote 31]

The Republicans refusal to create jobs is just one side of the story. John Boehner and company are also on a mission to reverse the course of the recovery and deepen the recession. House Democrats estimate that the GOP has killed 2 million jobs since they have taken over, and an analysis by Political Correction finds that the House GOP has tried to kill 7.4 million jobs in 400+ days. The House GOP’s ambitious plan would kill double the jobs in the Obama administration has created in the last 23 months by 2016.

One of the first acts of the Republican controlled House was to pass a bill to kill Obamacare. If this bill became law, it would kill 250,000-400,000 jobs a year. House Republicans passed a bill that would disband and defund the IRS, which would kill more than 107,000 jobs. The House passed the Cut, Cap and Balance Act which would kill 700,000 jobs. The House also passed a bill to 285,000 federal government jobs, but the biggest job killer of all is the Ryan Budget, which would kill 2-3 million jobs over 5 years.

The House Republicans claim that they have passed 27 bills that would create jobs, but are stalled in the Senate. However, a quick look at the list of “job creation” bills reveals that the legislation is nothing more than extreme budget cuts and an attack on all regulations, specifically environmental regulations. Interestingly, the House GOP also claims that their opposition to net neutrality will create jobs. There is not a single dollar spent in any of the Republican passed bills on direct job creation.

At the 300 day mark, House Republican had voted to kill 4.2 million jobs. If Republicans would have supported even part of the Democrats job creation agenda, millions of jobs would have been created. The American Jobs Act alone would have created an additional 1.9 million jobs and reduced unemployment by a full point. If the American Jobs Act would have become law, we could have anticipated an unemployment rate falling towards 7.3%, with no other economic growth included.

Despite their best efforts to prolong this recession the economy is recovering and growing again, but this list demonstrates that House Republicans are going to do everything in their power to derail our economic recovery before the presidential election in November.

If House Republicans continue on this path they’ll get their wish, but the jobs they kill will be their own.

GOP Leaders try to use General Petraeus affair to hurt our President before the election? One in particular; that'd be tea bagger Eric Cantor. Cantor thouhgt he get an iestigation and toe this to Benghazi hoping it influence the electorate. He's got nothing and neither do the rest of your corrupt leaders. How about all those racist tweets coming from your GOP leaders for you fools to follow? What of the disfranchisement of voter of color, veterans, seniors, the youth and so on and so forth? What about Trayvon Martin?

Corruption is republican governors trying to implement racist policies like Rick Scott and Ohio's John Husted. Nathan Spoul dropping people off the voters roll; Karl Rove with his filthy money lying to the American people; and Mitt Romney cheating people out of their pensions and jobs. I could go on the but you get the picture.

The list of hatred and racism is ad infintium. If you want to continue to practice Anti-Democracy pushed by FOX NOISE's propaganda which divides the country more than Radio Rwanda did in the Rwandan genocide pitting the Hutu against Tutsi; go right ahead and be a fool.

Most of the women in Congress are smarter than the men in Congress. There are exceptions such as Bachmann. Pelosi can line up her Party to vote on issues; the only thing Boehner has managed to line up is a putt and boxes of Kleenex..

A strong principaled leader?! Spending other people's money to mete out to the poor- just enough to keep them at the trough while she spends $3000 on flowers for her private jet and makes money on her investments with the legislation she pushes. Get real. She has been in office over 40 years, but the collapse was ALL Bush's fault. She is a greedy biatch elected by morons.

Crystal -- What's this, spending other people's money? Are you refering to taxes spent on Social Security, Medicare, etc? Looking after the middle class IS principled. All of a sudden the Repubs are scandalized by wealthy politicians, well, Democratic politicians. Up until the election, wealth was a good thing with them, in fact, a very good thing. Now Pelosi is evil because she's wealthy, even though she fights for the middle class. Here's a clue when comparing Democrats with Republicans: It's now what people say, it's what they do.

Wow, the grieving process can sure get unpredictable.

She should be made to fly commercial. She is such a wasteful person and and idiot, she proved that when she said, in front of Congree, we need to pass this bill to find out whats in it. I have read it and only an idiot would approve it. Our taxes are going up and anyone that believes only the rich will be taxed more is stupid. Our paper just reported that a family of four will have more than $3,000 taxes to be paid next year, so much for helping the middle class. I knew everything they said was a lie, Democrats lie and the entitlement people vote them back in, low class has become the norm.

Sonja: You are absolutely correct. The middle-class and poor will be suffering under this administration: Obamacare taxes, lay-offs when companies can't afford Obamacare (it's happening NOW), and higher prices on EVERYTHING when companies need to generate more revenue to pay for Obamacare and higher taxes. Liberals are so blind - must be a side effect of the kool-aid.

The "private jet" in question is the jet that the Sergeant at Arms for the House of Representatives mandated be used by the Speaker of the House. It is currently being used by Speaker Boehner as it was by Speaker Hastert prior to 2007.

miklkit- I have been working 5 and 6 day work weeks in spite of Obama for three years now. Not the job I had four years ago nor the pay but working nonetheless. Suggest you find some work and see how the other half lives.

You do know that the republicon House only works a 4 day work week? Don't you?

I am retired from heavy construction and have my Union pension as my only income. The last few jobs I worked were all 6-10 jobs outdoors in oil refineries. I even got snowed on in California!

You were working in spite of what bush/cheney did to America.

We will never kick Nancy out because she is an Obama woman and true Democrat. Being a Democrat means she has a lot of humanity - unlike most Republicans. She is also very smart which is another trait that Republicans don't share. Republican Bobby Jindal said it best, "The GOP is the Party of the Dumb" Your dumbness will continue until your just a footnote, even your talent for lying won't save you this time.

Repubs are in shock that the community organizer kicked the businessmans butt AND Repubs lost seats in the House and Senate.

GOP's only objective for the last 4 years was to make President Obama a 1 term president....major FAIL!

What will the GOP do now that their collective butts have been kicked....only have to look at this site and see the ranting and wailing that will continue for the next 4 years....nothing constructive, nothing positive, nothing logical...just ranting and wailing.

That's OK, President Obama and the Dems will be the adults in the room as they have been for the last 4 years and America will continue on the path to recovery...which is why majority of Americans re-elected President Obama.

Dragon--first of all, Obama did NOT 'kick Romney's butt'. You might not have noticed but Obama got over 9 MILLION fewer votes this time than he did last time.

Second, there will always be turn over of some seats in Congress. Just not too many times does a SWEEPING turn over occur like the one in 2010.

Third, we will find OUT what kind of 'community organizer Obama really is this term. He mad NO effort to work with republicans for four years, and if he wants to keep this country from going off the financial cliff (to use an over-worked cliche) he will have to break down and COMPROMISE.

And fourth--you DO know that it is not being 'adult' when you expect the other guy to give you every thing YOU want. We didn't elect Obama king, and remember, like most who are elected President, he didn't get much over 50% of the vote. That means that NEARLY as many people voted against thim as for him.

MO, we do not elect Presidents by popular vote, but by electoral vote, and Obama won 336 to 206. That's a mandate. A hugh mandate. If you think otherwise, then you must agree that George Bush was not elected President for his second term.

The President and Democrats offered multiple compromises to the the Republicans during the past four years. Most were initially accepted, then rejected by the teabaggers. In fact, it was Republican candidate Mourdock who said "...bipartisanship means they have to come our way...".

You got to know that there was total opposition to anything the President proposed. There was this agreement that most elected GOP Reps signed, called Grover-Norquist, which basically said Vote NO on everything, even if you like it! Thats good ole, obstructionist, rich white guy, GOP politics. Nice huh? gotta be proud of that stuff.

Pelosi said in 2008 WE ARE NOW IN CHARGE.... which meant time and time again....... shut up and sit down ..... all we want is YOUR (republicans) vote and NOT your input ------ and THIS was echoed time and time again by Obama - and the fact that you do NOT see or believe this is really mind-boggling to me.......... you are like lemmings running to the cliff (the fiscal cliff)...... well enjoy the fall because fall you will........ wow I still can't believe it.......... common sense DOES NOT rule in the Democratic party........ sad for America........... There will be no consensus building from the democrats .... they do not understand what that means........ the Republicans go to the middle and no one else is ever there...........
