Pelosi suggests she'll announce future intentions on Weds.

House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) suggested she would make her future plans known on Wednesday morning on Capitol Hill.

Pelosi, the first woman to ever serve as speaker of the House, answered a question about her intention to remain as House minority leader by inviting reporters to gather for a press conference tomorrow morning.

"I'll see you right here, 10 o'clock, tomorrow morning," she said. That would allow her to first confer with fellow Democrats.

The 72-year-old California Democrat served as speaker for two full terms, but remained as Democrats' leader in the House following Republicans' takeover of the chamber during the 2010 midterm elections.

Pelosi had scheduled leadership elections for a date slightly later than usual, prompting speculation that she might relinquish her role as the top Democrat in the House -- a position she has held for a decade. Wednesday marks the 10 year anniversary of her ascension to that position.

Her tenure was most memorably defined by her tenure as speaker during the first two years of President Barack Obama's first term, during which time Pelosi helped shepherd Obama's landmark health care reform law to passage.

Pelosi's departure could set off a tough battle between House Democrats to replace her. Among the candidates could be her No. 2, Minority Whip Steny Hoyer (D-Md.), Rep. Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.) or Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) -- among others.

I voted for Obama twice... and once in 2004 ;-).

However, I've never been a big fan of Pelosi. VERY partisan. Watched her on Jon Stewart and she was worse than Michael Steele when he was chairman of the RNC... didn't think that was possible.

I remember her making a trip to the Mid East and it felt like she was on a self-assigned diplomatic mission to meet with leaders in the area. Even though I considered Bush abysmally incompetent, I really felt she overstepped her bounds as Speaker of the House. It did nothing and was only a distraction intended to showcase herself.

People are complaining about the rich,i understand that.People want the rich to pay their fair share,i understand that too. What i don't understand is how we expect to tax the rich more when it is the rich and well to do that represent us in politics.the politicians in washington both Republican and Democrat make alot more than the average American does. They have no clue what it is like to live paycheck to paycheck.

They have no clue what it is like to live paycheck to paycheck.

You are right. Most of them don't and many of them who may have come from humble beginnings no longer do. There really are champions on both sides, albeit more on the left, who really do care about giving the middle class and those stuck in poverty at least a fair shake. Teddy Kennedy, a very wealthy man, fought his whole life for the poor and the poor working man, so I have hope that our elected leaders will all get their heads out of their asses and get this fiscal cliff issue hammered out.

@Alaska Girl

Teddy Kennedy???? I seem to remember, as I was alive when it happened that Lovely Teddy had so much compassion that he forgot to help the little lady who was drowning in his car. Intersting that he bore no fault. He is/was a lying piece of murdering hog dung

I remember her name. Once again, Mary Jo can't be reached for comment. No, Alaska, I don't hate at all. But I do remember facts, espicially those involving death, that others tend to gloss over.

Well, let's hope her replacement lives closer to DC. That way the taxpayers would save a bundle on her taxpayer paid trips back to California. She was instrumental in the "sign the bill" and then see what is in it. She just didn't inform the public that it would take an army of attorneys to decode the "Obamacare" handout medical plan.

She got and is power hungry and thinks she is the all knowing personality in politics.

Her district is Berkley Ca. Totally populated by wackos, who, I'm sure, believe she's cool. Facelifts and all.

LOL......Berkley is actually a pretty cool place. Have you ever even spent any time there or just seen something on TV that makes you stereotype? Facelifts-who cares, to each their own....see? A democrat trait. Live and let live.

Jay-99% of politicians (and many other careers) are power hungry people.

Freedom - Actually, the Dems, especially the super libs like Pelosi, want you to live the way they say you should live. You're confusing Dems and Repubs.

I saw a person liking the new HEALTH CARE TAX to Auto Insurance as a tax. Having a car is a persons choice you do not have to have one and if you don't have one you don't have to buy insurance. On the other hand the HEALTH CARE TAX (insurance mandate) you have no choice unless you are dead. Oh that's right they have death tax too!

Can't say as I want to see Pelosi remain. Two things I will never forget she said and one was when then Sen Obama was running for President and she was the Speaker of the House. "If he gets elected he better stay out of my way" (amazing how many people have forgotten that one and 2. "We have to pass it before we can see what is in it" referring to the then ACA bill.

          1. was arrogant; 2. was unintelligent.

          She has her own agenda....

Thanks for screwing us over the past 4 years with obuma care...wasn't welfare, medicaid, medicare and every other FREE service offered to the poor enough to drain our tax dollars? Now you have to force people to buy health care they can't afford.

I read a post that stated the democrats care about the working individual getting a fair shake...... Do any of you really beleive that? Most of the democrats and the republicans are both sides of the same coin and neither give a crap for the working man and neither stand for what they did 25 years ago. They all seem to have their own agenda these days. Can you say global Govt with us under their thumb. Wake up people.

She needs to retire. She couldn't even read the ACA bill, and was in a hurry to pass the bill before anyone else could read it.

There is no way she can relate to the common person, review her biography and how much money she is worth.

Please take your broom and leave the house. Thank you!
