House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) suggested she would make her future plans known on Wednesday morning on Capitol Hill.
Pelosi, the first woman to ever serve as speaker of the House, answered a question about her intention to remain as House minority leader by inviting reporters to gather for a press conference tomorrow morning.
"I'll see you right here, 10 o'clock, tomorrow morning," she said. That would allow her to first confer with fellow Democrats.
The 72-year-old California Democrat served as speaker for two full terms, but remained as Democrats' leader in the House following Republicans' takeover of the chamber during the 2010 midterm elections.
Pelosi had scheduled leadership elections for a date slightly later than usual, prompting speculation that she might relinquish her role as the top Democrat in the House -- a position she has held for a decade. Wednesday marks the 10 year anniversary of her ascension to that position.
Her tenure was most memorably defined by her tenure as speaker during the first two years of President Barack Obama's first term, during which time Pelosi helped shepherd Obama's landmark health care reform law to passage.
Pelosi's departure could set off a tough battle between House Democrats to replace her. Among the candidates could be her No. 2, Minority Whip Steny Hoyer (D-Md.), Rep. Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.) or Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) -- among others.

What did this woman do to help California other than help it go down the drain?...businesses do not want to move there and the businesses that are there would be wise to move elsewhere...Nancy is a nut cup and certainly has never represented the leadership that her state nor the country has needed.
Well Said, Juanita: But, she doesn't have to worry about what's coming, because her family is the DelMonte Corporation, with most of it's holdings overseas. She also gets free healthcare and a monthly stipend for the rest of her life, financed by "us." New tax codes won't bother her either. Finally, she gets to receive social security....pocket change, by her family's standards, but nonetheless, you can bet she won't be paying out anywhere near the average family will be paying out for taxes and healthcare....she gets it free for the rest of her life. She's a fraud like a lot of the weenies on both sides of the aisle.

Let's see! The woman said the constitution is only a set of guidelines. That the public will only know everything that's in ObamaCare when it's passed, but it's not a tax. This is an heiress to the DelMonte fortunes.....she doesn't want to crack down on illegal immigration.....I wonder why. Her family's money is mostly in offshore accounts. And the list goes on. She represents a state that is bankrupt and shot down moves to freeze earmarks for Berkelly, CA, despite it's city council and the University violating federal law. She has consistently antagonized anyone willing to compromise on key issues, even within her own party. If you all think she's such a great lady, she is a reflection of California's failed policies and the welfare state it's become. It's a sad thing when a state could qualify for welfare itself......but, then again, she's a reflection of her state.
And, she'll never have to worry about more taxes, healthcare costs, and all the other costs to us citizens, because when she leaves congress, she will have free healthcare for life; gets a government stipend for life; can collect social security, and her family's assets are mostly buried overseas.

We are not talking about Bush, are we?! I don't care which side of the aisle someone is on, if they think the constitution, the bill of rights, and other legitimate laws of the land are just guidelines or a piece of paper, that is arrogance and defies what this country is supposed to stand for.
Bashing Bush is just another example of the apologists' philosophy of justifying their screw ups by deflecting blame/criticism on someone else.
I worked in DC and on the hill for some years and the arrogance of some of our legislators is reflected by Pelosi. Many of them act and believe, you and I--the people--are too stupid or lazy to know what's good for "us" so they will tell us what is good for us.
None of those elected officials will ever have to worry about income or healthcare after they leave office. Especially Pelosi....she's an heiress to the DelMonte Corporate. They get healthcare for life and an annual "stipend", plus other benefits, you and I will never see. Plus, the legislature is the only entity in the government that does not have to go through the budget process. In the 1980's they voted automatic raises every year and other compensatory increases in budgets, without having to go through budget scrutiny.
Why should Pelosi and others of her ilk care about anything but power and status and "screw" anyone that disagrees with them. Is she a representative of the people, for the people, by the people, or the product of her family's money and a 72 year old spoiled brat, to top it off??????

Well, California IS Democratically run, I'll give you that. And it's even more so after the election. As California goes, so goes the nation.
And, as California continues to go down the tubes, so will the rest of us. I refuse to be categorized with a bunch of "fruits and nuts" who have destroyed one of the most prosperous states in the U.S.

Pelosi is out of touch with the people of this country....just as many others who hold office in this country. Isn't it amazing the democrats tried to portray Romney as an out of touch millionaire, when people like Pelosi are worth far more than Romney and she didn't even have to work for it. She's an heiress to the DelMonte Corporation, personally worth more than 43 million, and receiving regular dividends(offshore) from an multibillion dollar Food and Agricultural corporation. Why would she want to get rid of illegals.....it's cheap labor for her family's holdings.

Pelosi was an excellent Speaker and is an excellent minority leader.....whatever she decides to do she has a great legacy.
The housing stock was so bloated they had to do something to get the lenders off the hook on construction loans---and it did happen during the Clinton years. The reverse interest loans put people in home they could NEVER have qualified for in a million years. But it got a HUGE number of contruction loans off the lending institution books and only years laer had to be bailed out by the feds.
As far as Pelosi is concerned---for those who thinks she hung the moon, check back with me in about 10-years when you walets are empty and your financial statements are floating in red ink, because that's where all of this is heading and it's on a steep slippery slope.
Her and everyone involved in Government who is over the age of 65 should be forced to retire.Their thinking is all old school,they can't keep up with the pace of the changes going on in todays world.It is time for them to step aside,and let some younger and more modern thinkers take the helm.They are still trying to run a modern day country,based on old ass ideas that were out dated 25 years ago,just like they were.
