THERE'S STILL TIME FOR THE GOP TO TOTALLY SELF DESTRUCT.... THEY'RE NOT QUITE FINISHED YET....As Republicans rebuild their party, keep these things in mind...
1) Keep aligning yourself with big money, corporate interests, and tax favors for those groups.
2) Identify yourself as the party of angry white men. (IS Dick Cheney still alive and available to run?)
3) People LOVE to have their bodies, sex lives, and religious beliefs legislated and debated.
4) Let the TEA Party (and shrill bitches like Sarah Palin, Rush, and Anne Coulter) help select your candidates. Nasty is attractive.
5) Don't release tax returns, insult 50% of the country early on, and pretend everyone has hired help.
6) Keep putting Mitch McConnell and John Boehner on television. Mitch looks like the dog on Beverly Hillbillies, and John's tan reminds us of all the junkets he's taken.
7) Cover up the fact that your hero, Ayn Rand, died on welfare and medicaid by smoking herself to death.
8) Start a couple of unfunded wars and offer some bank bailouts to reward your donors whenever you get into office. Send the bill to the next President so you can blame him. Voters like that...
9) Listen to Karl Rove's political advice and make sure to sign tax pledges with Grover Norquist so that you can't possibly compromise. EVER. In the corporate world, failure to compromise and job performances this bad usually result in consequences like termination or exile. But keep these idiots around anyway.
10) Make sure you put up the weakest possible slate of candidates in the primary and then have them devour each other, slavishly trying to prove who is the nastiest and most out of touch with reality. Voters LOVE nasty. All those millions on negative ads really paid off...
YEP, FOUR MORE YEARS OUGHT TO FINISH THE GOP OFF FOR GOOD....
Not to be a comment spammer this morning but saw an excellent article on the vine this morning and wanted to share it. It goes along with your post very well. It basically states that the GOP needs to turn away from FOX and all of the ugliness there if they actually want to develop their own party.
Feisty, The nutjobs like F6z just don't quit. It is exactly like Whack- a- mole. This nut thinks that 10 million Romney votes disappeared. They are just so pathetic.
The irony is, there IS no real debate about what needs to happen: cutting spending and raising taxes. Both sides know what needs to happen.
The only debate is how much the hedge fund managers and over-paid CEO's can get away with not paying. That, and how much of a subsidy the oil companies can keep to keep producing their climate-changing product.

Wait a minute, Amy! You said...
cutting spending and raising taxes.
The you proceeded to talk ONLY about making the 'hedge fund manager', 'overpaid CEO's' and 'oil companies' PAY MORE.
@B White-519014 If you had any Intelligence, You would see that Over 10,000,000 Voters Obviously did not vote or the Votes Were not Counted. And I never said "Romney Votes". Wow, The Dumbest things I have ever seen in My life has Come from Obama Supporters. I suppose, even on Main stream news Like CNN Says Obama is Corrupt, but still, YOU VOTE FOR HIM! WTF?!!!!!
Whichever pundit (think he was a conservative) stated Tuesday night that the Republicans are trying to live in Mad Men times when we're in a Modern Family era was SPOT on. Kudos for that analogy!
Oh my Feisty, I find myself agreeing with much of your post! It is time for those fat cat legislators to do what is right for this nation. It's also time for holding their feet to the fire, on both sides of the aisle, identifying those who are leaders, those who are sheep, and those who take large campaign donations from special interest groups and how they vote on those issues.
And since Obama doesn't have to campaign any longer, it is also time to hold his feet to the fire to negotiate legislation for the nation. Hopefully in this term, he will do a Clinton, and actually work with legislators from both sides to help create jobs, lower the debt, eliminate waste in government, show transparency in government as he promised, reduce entitlements from those not deserving of them, and to show leadership.
But you suggest that the president hasn't met with congress since they were no where to be found. When they were in session during his administration, other than the photo op for ObamaCare, when did he meet with them, call them, or mediate legislation as a president should?
He now has a do-over, do you think he's learned from his errors during the first administration, and can he provide the change necessary to lead or only fall back on his previous method of letting the leaders of the House and Senate do his bidding for him?
Now that the election is over can a budget actually be submitted, can the deficit be lowered, and can jobs be created? And since compromise is a two way street, will the Progressives actually reach out to the Republicans, to discuss and negotiate in a meaningful way?
@F6Zman. Honestly I had to pick the lesser of two evils. I voted Obama. Just because I know people like you would get pissed off. Four more years of crap from the White House is worth seeing you pull your hair out! Muah hahaha!
I wish the media did a better job of letting the American people know how little work their elected representatives do. Their constant recesses, vacations and "district working days" (which is no more than fund raising) is appalling. And yet most of them were re-elected. It is disheartening.
@F6Zman. Honestly I had to pick the lesser of two evils. I voted Obama. Just because I know people like you would get pissed off. Four more years of crap from the White House is worth seeing you pull your hair out! Muah hahaha!
I think there will be compromise this time. At least for the first two years. While the GOP did not want a second term of liberal ideology, now I think the president will get a majority of the things he wants. Kind of like Bush in his last term. He let the Congress go wild with their ill advised agenda and it led to the recession. You must remember, they seated themselves as the majority in 2007 and had two years. I think Congress will be more flexible this time and let the policies go through so that in 2016 when people realize that the Obama administration and it's "Forward thinking" is a disaster and the affects are finally felt, it will open the door for the GOP in 2016 to turn them around because all the libs will be saying "what happened, this isn't the way it was supposed to work out?"
How ever "against country" it sounds, Bush saw the American people vote in the Dems so, he let the majority rule and have their way and look what it got us.
Talk to the Hand - if some of President Obama's proposals go through the economy will improve and we will have more jobs. The Republicans have tabled 5 jobs bills - just to obstruct him.
Hand, Let us all hope that these predictions prove as accurate as your forecast of the election. Why don't you come back in four years and see how it all worked out. It never ends for you morons does it?
Seeking, while I agree we need jobs, I hope they look at the bills carefully and decide that the return on investment is reasonable and not just a stop gap short term solution with a definitive end. I think that is why some of the "jobs bills" didn't get past the house the first time. They cost too much of what we didn't have. Money. Hopefully things will improve, revenue will increase, and cooler heads will rule and we do come out ahead without digging the hole as deep as we have the last four years. I know it was a difficult time but, being in business I know, you just can't throw money at a problem and expect it to go away.
Glad the election is over and you and I can just talk again. I know we did get nasty at each other and hope we can put that behind for the good of all.
Gotta keep up with the name calling huh B? I am just stating an opinion. Not being nasty, not being a moron that just can't let go, just stating what I think the agenda may be (MAY BE) going forward.
And, my history is open unlike some on your side. I challenge you do find one post of my own over the last four months where I said that Romney would win let alone decisively.
Talk to the Hand - if some of President Obama's proposals go through the economy will improve and we will have more jobs.
That's yet to be seen now, isn't it Seeking?
If the GOP gives Obama what he wants it will either make or break 2016 for BOTH parties.
I say let 'er rip! I believe Obama's plans will do the opposite of what you predict. If I am wrong then it's great for the country and hooray. If I am right, well that will be great for conservatives and again... hooray!
Hand, People should look at your history and verify that you are lying; and I would invite them to look at mine as well- in fact I encourage it. I particularly urge you to look- I feel strongly you could learn something. That's my "redskin rule."
It is crunch time. I, and other right-leaning folk, voted for you because we believe you possess the capability for leadership essential for bringing Washington to at least a level of functional compromise.
It is time for the Republican Party to stop kidding itself, not all Conservatives are Republicans and many are not because they oppose Republican social issues.
SOB: Define right leaning. To me, he may be. To you, he's a socialist because he's not far enough to the right for your sensibilities.
But, Mr President - as Tom Hanks said as his final line in Saving Private Ryan - "Earn this". Use the coming fiscal cliff and ending of the Bush tax cuts against the TPRepubs. They would (and did) do it to you at every opportunity. Go for what YOU want, and go big. You have to power to veto anything and everything, and that power should be exercised in the face of TPRepublican obstinance. YOU are the boss. Git 'er done. Cut spending AND tax increases.
You have to power to veto anything and everything, and that power should be exercised in the face of TPRepublican obstinance. YOU are the boss. Git 'er done
That sounds like obstructionism...
Oh wait... if this plays out like the last two years... nothing will make it to his desk for a signature... Good old Harry Reid will make sure of that!
So... given that Harry is the one making the decisions... WHO IS REALLY THE BOSS?
Something is Not Right, The 2008 Elections had 69,456,897 and 59,934,814 Votes. Now, In the 2012 Elections There was 60,743,181 And 57,853,713. So, There should be about 10 Million More votes, What the Hell Happened?
I think a little less enthusiasm on both sides. No matter how the media hyped it, I don't think as many were interested or excited about either candidate and were torn between the known and "should I give him another chance" and the basically unknown and "can I afford to give him a chance".
Key word Red, tried. Give it a rest will ya? The "war" is over.
RedDev---we have no way of knowing how many people didn't even attempt to vote because they didn't have the time, health and/or energy to brave a 5 hour line or were misinformed about the type of ID they might need. Plus I'm sure there were many people in NY/NJ/Conn who didn't vote because of the storm.
The election may be over, but the WAR on Voters is very much alive. The sleazy, slime ball tactics of the GOPTP must be eliminated. We have another vote in 2 years.
SOB - don't start pulling that cooperation bull@!$%# on an issue like voter suppression. The GOPTP led the effort on many fronts, and they must be stopped.
Florida's Rick Scott is an excellent case in point. Floridians! Unite and get rid of your governor! The fact that it is day two after the elections and we still do not have a winner in Florida is very telling as to what Florida's governor did to try and suppress and intimidate and to cause such extremely long lines, thus causing many people to give up on voting. An 11 page ballot? Are you freaking kidding me!?
I am NOT speaking of 'voter suppression' (and neither was F6Zman - he merely observed that numbers were down and you people went off on some voter suppression tangent.)
NO... I am speaking of YOUR POST... (and the tone it carries - you know... one of cooperation and reconciliation.)
Hi theotas - Both parties guilty of voter supression/intimidation? How so?
The only stories I heard were about the multiple voter id laws that were attempted. The intimidating billboards, the million man poll watching Tea Partiers, the campaign workers ripping up democratic registrations, the video of registars only looking for Romney voters, the limits placed on early voting, the intimidation by GOP employeers. All of this was done by GOP governors, legislatures, polling groups or private citizens.
SOTB, you're wasting valuable time and breath on some of the FR lefties here. There are those like Reddev, Amy, AG, Feisty, Bev, Seeking to name a few that will NEVER change. There are a few in here on the left that will be more willing to discuss the issues at hand civily without the anti republican rhetoric.
toto, I just cannot have a conversation with you. Gee, tell the poor poll counters in Miami-Dade who are having to deal with an 11 page ballot that "it's a walk in the park". Easy to say if you aren't the one dealing with it. Please comment back if you wish, and you probably will, but I won't be reading it as I just don't feel that you offer anything constructive to a discussion so you have the distinct honor of being added to my ignore list. Thanks for playing. Toodles!
Don't feed thetotas,...false equivalency is her friend!
It seems pretty amazing to me that anyone in America thinks that waiting in line for more than an hour or two is reasonable. And of course, it's 'reasonable', as long as it keeps those who can least afford the time away and not voting. It's a poll tax, plain and simple. Poor people who average $7/hour and live pay check to pay check cannot afford to spend hours in a line, away from work. One more method of voter suppression!
Debbie--if that was the President's tactic, he sure scared the heck out of a lot of us.
I think he was stunned by Romney's out-and-out reversals of his prior positions and the fact that when challenged Romney doubled down on the flip flops.
The President has a "golden moment" if not the honeymoon that existed before the internet and the 24 hour news cycle, what will he do with it? The opposition is making conciliatory sounds, but how genuine are they, and can they even deliver their own somewhat divided party if they broker any significant agreement(s)?
The biggest impediment to compromise on the budget, and the fiscal cliff is the inability of the opposition to COMPROMISE, because of a pledge that removes one of the two mechanisms available to affect the deficit.
If you can only do one thing, cut the budget, you remove any leverage or negotiating room that may exist.
In order to achieve a "Grand Bargain" that puts the US on at least on the road to a more stable fiscal policy, the President MUST address this failing in his negotiating partners and lay the responsibility for compromise at their doorstep. He must address the nation this month and be the GREAT COMMUNICATOR, explaining that we are at a "tipping-point, where we can either move ahead and realign our fiscal policies for the 21st century, or remain mired in the current partisan morass. He must explain that we must cut spending, amend and reform entitlements and raise additional revenues. That without this THREE PRONGED policy there is no way that we can succeed.
He must emphasize that with this 3 pronged policy, there is no way that we can FAIL.
It is time for the President to LEAD on this most central issue. The sooner he does it the better. If he fails to seize the day, we will all be the worse for it and everything else that may be in the administrations plans will be impacted.
They are not alone...every day I am forced to look into the mirror...
Your enemy is never a villain in his own eyes. Keep this in mind; it may offer a way to make him your friend. If not, you can kill him without hate — and quickly.
The real question is... IF Obama does as you suggest...
Will conservatives finally agree to increased taxes as a means toward increasing revenue? AND
Will liberals finally agree to cut spending and reform entitlements?
Many contributors here at FR refuse to speak of the latter.
My fear is that many (if not most) of the liberals in Congress will take the same approach.
If that happens, conservatives will likely pull back any chance we have at tax reforms and we (as a nation) will suffer the same fate as so many others that refused to get control of their debt.
It takes two to tango... will the democrats show up to dance?
Despite your partisan rhetoric, you have a point. While Democrats are not encumbered with their own version of a "no new taxes EVER!" pledge of allegiance, but they have their own constituencies to battle. Special interests can be managed and they have no pledges that can cost legislators their jobs if they defy them.
That is the point of my piece though, isn't it? The President must be a leader by challenging his OWN party. Any stiff can challenge or doubt the other side's ability to negotiate.
If you had said;
I don't know how my party can negotiate when they are forbidden to use one of the two tools available, instead of worrying about and challenging the OPPOSITION, your comments would be the same as mine.
I have much more concern about the dynamic in the Republican party, that has led to the ouster of several senators and congresspeople from their extreme right and the affect it has had on many legislators who have seen their colleagues go down to primary challenge defeat. Both the Speaker and the Minority Leader are looking over their shoulders at both their leadership positions and their reelection prospects.
The President has an opportunity to be a leader here, and what he does here is a harbinger of the next 4 years...
Dangerfield- during the "grand Bargain" fiasco Obama had stated he was willing to bring entittlements to the table. Not all dems were escstatic then about that nor are we now. But democrats believe in the concept of governance which is something RepubliCONS seemed willing to forsake. Hopefully sanity has returned and Grover is out of town having deserved a long vacation for all his assistence during the election.
IT'S A GOOD DAY! R.I.P. = Romney Isn't President!!!!!!! Next on the agenda is to get rid of the GOPS in the House in 2014. There is no come back for the Republicians. Their time is up in Washington!
Will the American People give a poltical and economic 'pass' to the Tea Beggers that 'conspired' to destroy them at their "Caucus Conspiracy??" Do the American People like to be 'conspired against? America needs to be asking questions of the GOP/RNC "Fourteen Felon's. Big time! Call for justice America! The US Justice Department needs to investgate the "Tea Begger Conspiracy" of Janruary 20, 2009. Start calling and writing America for justice to be done! America is going to let these 'conspirators' off the hook? Really??
Right after they go after Frank and Dodd for the mess they made out of Housing, and the admin, Reid and Pelosi for billions handed to GM unions, teacher unions to get votes, huge taxes in Obamacare, waivers from Obamacare to get votes. Do we want to talk about the unconstitutional CZARS or Al Quieda in Iraq, and North Africa........
Yeah...there were no global conflicts whatsoever under Dubya, right? There were NO money problems while Dubya reigned and the economy flourished, right? The whole wide world was in love with America when the great Dubya led the way, right? 9/11 did NOT occur on Dubya's watch, did it? 9/11 NEVER HAPPENED AT ALL; so it is clear that Dubya really did chase and have executed, 'the wrong guy!' I think stupid Pres Obama somehow, by some miracle; got the right guy! Hmmm?
Barack Obama sucks, right? Sooooooo...where is the GOP candidate who defeated this stupid, nappy-headed, NIGGAR? Where is the GREAT WHITE HOPE that won election 2012???
This nation will NEVER heal because its greatest wound and most crippling affliction; is the ugly, infused, sore; that remains forever a carbuncle on the ass of ALL humanity; known as racism!
Hope the Cliff comes. Republicans should go home for the Holidays and let the admin and the Dems deal with the coming 12% plus unemployment, credit rating downgrade, less revenues to the corrupt government, and no budget.
I hope they go home for the holidays too. They are altogether useless anyway! ALL they've managed to accomplish is obstruction so what would the country be losing if they take their sorry asses home?
Right on...
BTW: Please explain how a Party which claims to be the fiscally responsible Party, spend nearly a billion dollars backing a real loser like Mitt Romney?. That much money could have been better spent!
Yeah...Pres Obama is the loser, right? Who is still President of the US? I don't think his name is Mitt Romney. Apply ALL of the various innuendos and spew all the venomous spite that you can conjure up and then end by calling the President, "Barack 'Hussein' Obama". Yeah, Dubya did such a great job that he had shoes hurled at his stupid head! Dubya and Chinface Cheney did such a crack job that a black guy who was a Community Organizer from Chicago's south side, has thoroughly kicked the ass of TWO GOP candidates in sequential succession. Yeah...Pres Obama is the biggest loser; right! ROFLMBAO!!!
About freakin time!
The Congress critters have been MIA since July!
Time to roll up their sleeves, get down to work and earn those fat tax payer funded checks!
I laughed out loud everytime Willard mentioned how the President hasn't met with them since July on the stump!
WELL DUH!
They were nowhere to be found in or around DC!

Hey RedDev...
Way to work toward reconciliation between the parties... sounds like you have truly adopted a cooperative attitude.
:OP
SOB - don't start pulling that cooperation bull@!$%# on an issue like voter suppression. The GOPTP led the effort on many fronts, and they must be stopped.
Florida's Rick Scott is an excellent case in point. Floridians! Unite and get rid of your governor! The fact that it is day two after the elections and we still do not have a winner in Florida is very telling as to what Florida's governor did to try and suppress and intimidate and to cause such extremely long lines, thus causing many people to give up on voting. An 11 page ballot? Are you freaking kidding me!?
Flag F6Zman for his repeated spam comment above!!
RedDev...
I am NOT speaking of 'voter suppression' (and neither was F6Zman - he merely observed that numbers were down and you people went off on some voter suppression tangent.)
NO... I am speaking of YOUR POST... (and the tone it carries - you know... one of cooperation and reconciliation.)
That's all.
:O)
RedDev,
The media has been reporting both republicans and demarcates are guilty of either voter suppression, or voter fraud.
AlaskaGirl,
Eleven page ballot, are you kidding me, that's a walk in the park. What else to you have?
Hi theotas - Both parties guilty of voter supression/intimidation? How so?
The only stories I heard were about the multiple voter id laws that were attempted. The intimidating billboards, the million man poll watching Tea Partiers, the campaign workers ripping up democratic registrations, the video of registars only looking for Romney voters, the limits placed on early voting, the intimidation by GOP employeers. All of this was done by GOP governors, legislatures, polling groups or private citizens.
Can you share any Democratic supression stories?
Toodles!
Dawwwwwggggggggg!
Mark, how about running something about the first debate?
Remember, Republicans were telling Romney he had to have a game changer or they were going to spend their money on the House and Senate.
Obama's rope a dope first debate was clearly intended to help the House and Senate Democrats.
Clearly, Debbie!
HAHAAHAH! So much so it resulted in NO CHANGE!
(very effective... just like his first term.)
Debbie--if that was the President's tactic, he sure scared the heck out of a lot of us.
I think he was stunned by Romney's out-and-out reversals of his prior positions and the fact that when challenged Romney doubled down on the flip flops.
It is not whether you win or lose but how you play the game. True, but winning is still a he!! of a lot better than losing.
If you play the game right chances are you will win. Obama did and has. Romney and his party did not and they did.
Very well said dangerfield - and some see you as merely a jokester.
Mark, my friend...
They are not alone...every day I am forced to look into the mirror...
Your enemy is never a villain in his own eyes. Keep this in mind; it may offer a way to make him your friend. If not, you can kill him without hate — and quickly.
Robert Heinlein
(it's R.A.H day in danger-ville)
Well said, Dangerfield.
The real question is... IF Obama does as you suggest...
SOTB-
Despite your partisan rhetoric, you have a point.
If you had said;
I don't know how my party can negotiate when they are forbidden to use one of the two tools available, instead of worrying about and challenging the OPPOSITION, your comments would be the same as mine.
The President has an opportunity to be a leader here, and what he does here is a harbinger of the next 4 years...
that should be the "effect" it has had on many legislators...
ROTFLMBAO!!!
Right on...
This nation will NEVER heal because its greatest wound and most crippling affliction; is the ugly, infused, sore; that remains forever a carbuncle on the ass of ALL humanity; known as racism!
Right on...
That much money could have been better spent!
and now hiliray quits along with petreaus....getting away for the loser in chief...
ROFLMBAO!!!
Right on...
