Obama: 'It's out of my hands now; it's in yours'

NBC’s Shawna Thomas covers Obama’s final rally in Des Moines last night. “For the final campaign event of the 2012 cycle, President Barack Obama returned to where his bid for presidency began. At a rally downtown here, against the backdrop of the capital, the president and first lady Michelle Obama took the crowd back four years ago, when they were campaigning at the state fair and celebrating the birthday of one of their daughters. ‘Tomorrow we get the chance to finish what we started in Iowa,’ the first lady said before introducing her husband. Talking about those early days in Iowa, the president appeared emotional as he started by thanking the volunteers gathered. ‘All of you who have lived and breathed the hard work of change, I want to thank you,’ Obama said.”

More: "It’s out of my hands now,” Obama said. “It’s in yours. All of it depends on what you do.”

Hey Ticked,

Obama made good on his promises, not all of them, but the ones that count, even with GOP obstruction at every turn.

You can never say the same about the GOP.

When was the last time they did what hey ran on?

What has the GOP done for America in the last 40 years?

Hey BO2012: Trying to talk sense to Tricked in Ohio is like trying to teach a pig to sing; it wastes your time, and annoys the pig.

What I'm wondering is, after our President is reelected in spite of the GOP lies-and-hate campaign, are there going to be prosecutions of the hordes of Republican voting-fraud operatives?

If we prosecute them for attempting to rig the election, their inbred, uneducated, FOX Entertainment-watching footsoldiers will start a campaign of violence- like an enraged child smashing his toys.

If we don't prosecute them, it's a clear signal to Rove, Preibus and the Kochs that it's OK to try to steal elections because even if they're caught red-handed, as they already have been in many places, Democratic officials won't attempt to uphold the law by punishing Republican felons.

It's just a hell of a quandry, isn't it?

When you are small and nobody cares you have to shout to be heard. It is like the chihuaua in the dog pack, he's there but when they are all barking he's harder to hear than the bigger dogs. Then when the big dogs are quiet the little rat looking dog still keeps yapping for no reason but to hear himself yap.

What our ticked off friend in Ohio doesn't realize is that government jobs are JOBS regardless who is footing the bill. If you want to be responsible for your own home security and put out the fire if your house burns down be my guest because those government employees you love to hate, ticked, won't be there to help you.

Are you willing, ticked off, to pave the street in front of your house and around your village, town or city? We wouldn't want GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES, doing that would we? Of course the DMV is made up of government employees so when your drivers license expieres there would, in your world, be no government employees to renew your license so you can drive away but on your way home that GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEE police officer can haul your tail off to jail for driving without a license.

Those GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES called soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines are keeping your silly arse safe but we don't want any government employees do we ticked off in Ohio.

With your screen name I would suggest you take a course in anger management. If you cannot afford a course I am sure an agency of your local or state government can see that you get one free of charge.

Oh, and by the way, the Republican party, calling itself the Grand Old Party is neither grand nor old in comparison to the Democratic party. First the Republican party is significantly smaller these days than ever and it is the younger of the two parties by a few decades.

I'm not talking about military or any of the other govt jobs you're ranting about

I'm talking about UNNECESSARY govt jobs that will result because of OBAMACARE and cost the taxpayer TRILLIONS of dollars for nothing

OBAMACARE IS NOTHING BUT THE DEMOCRATS WAY TO RAISE TAXES AND GROW GOVT

We already had medicaid to pay for low and no income people and it's against the law for any hospital to refuse treatment

So there was NO REASON for OBAMACARE other than to FEED OBAMAS EGO and rake in more taxes!

AND THE MAJORITY OF AMERICANS DO NOT WANT OBAMACARE!!!!

You have no basis, or facts about any garbage you are babbling about. None. Just conjecture. Point to something that says trillions have gone up in smoke.

The real truth that trolls like you don't want to face up to is that Romeny is so livid that someone took his idea and put it on a national platform that he doesn't get credit for it.

That gets under his skin and yours, too, Psyco. Face it.

Amy, it's pretty clear you haven't been watching the same campaign season I have.

I've voted in presidential elections since '72, and I've never seen a campaign so negative, and so much about the "small", as Obama's reelection strategy.

Win or lose, Obama has lost a lot of credibility and good will this election cycle. Turns out he's just an average political animal, willing to sacrifice integrity for a few votes.

For me, despite any misgivings, I'm voting Romney. He gives us the best chance for recovery, and will govern from the middle.

Commonsense, I saw Romney speak in person at a rally in Portland during the Republican primaries, and I was not impressed.
Talk about a "small" candidate, Romney gave a boilerplate right wing speech and left even the friendly crowd of Maine Republicans cold.

The first presidential candidate I voted for was Gerald Ford, but that kind of Republican politician with integrity has disappeared, Romney is certainly not a Ford.

I used my hands to cast my ballot for President Obama.

I would hope you used your hands. It would be difficult otherwise.

I think, if America elects Romney, we'd regret it almost immediately.

Your opinion, and an opinion not shared with others.

For one thing, Romney only knows how to attack his opponents, Barack Obama treats even his critics with respect.

You can't be serious Amy, Barack attacked with lies, everything regarding Mitt Romney. The man is the great Divider. Of the two, Mitt came across appearing more presidential than Barry. Even your left wing stooge pundits mentioned the lack of presence with Barack.

Romney only respects those with money, he may shed a tear for hurricane victims; but his mind is always focused on furthering the agenda of the 1%.

Another liberal myth Amy. Again your opinion, and not a true statement.

And why do you libs always focus on money - there is nothing wrong with making money, is there? There is no fairness in the world, no matter how libs want fairness to be.

Why is it fair that I bust my butt in school to succeed, go into the business world to achieve, then have to pay someone else for what I accomplished? Is it fair that someone who didn't work as hard as me participate in my success?

Wouldn't it be more fair to have excessive government waste identifyed and removed from the budget? Wouldn't it be more fair to reduce the expense of government? Shouldn't states have more right to spend their own tax money rather than send it to big government to administer unfairly?

And we can go on and on, but it's a losing battle to discuss fairness with liberals. Libbies only see it one-way. Divide the masses, divide the rich from their money, and continue to spend what we as a nation don't have.

I voted today, and I voted for the RIGHT man.

Here's a good idea. How about a flat tax where everyone pays the same percentage. No exemptions, deductions, or tax breaks. The more you make, the more you pay. Isn't that what everyone wants, for those who make more to pay more? That's fair.

funnygirl, I agree we should remove government waste, let's start with the stimulus funds Paul Ryan asked Joe Biden to send to his state.

That's whats so irritating about Republicans - their hypocrisy. Romney acts all patriotic, but evidence suggests he paid zero taxes for sixteen years. We know he and his sons declined to serve their country during war. A great country doesn't exist without people willing to pay taxes and serve in the military, in both areas Romney comes up short.
